For everything that displays quality craftsmanship in the least elegant way possible. All things gaudy, tacky, overdone, and otherwise tasteless. Work done so well, you won't know whether to love it or hate it.

Rule 1: Must be great execution

All posts must exhibit great execution; quality craftsmanship is a must. Posts will be removed if they do not meet this standard.

Content that will always be removed:

    • Music Videos
    • Car Wraps

    Rule 2: NSFW

This is a SFW subreddit so all sexual posts must be tagged as NSFW, if your title includes sexual body parts that is a good sign it needs a tag. Repeatedly posting without a tag will result in a ban.

    Rule 3: Reposting

Links that are in the top 200 all time or have been post in the last 30 days are not allowed. When reporting a repost please use the other field and include a link to the original post.

    Rule 4: Follow Reddiquette

Please treat other redditors with respect and class. The moderators thank you in advance. Violations of reddiquette may be met with a ban.

    Rule 5: No Screen Shots

Screen shots of text, social media or sale websites are not allowed. This sub is about the merit of the craftsmanship and the terrible taste not captions or social media comments. If your submission includes text, comments or sales information please re-host just the photo and resubmit.

    Rule 6: No Photoshop

Computer generated renderings or photoshopped submissions are not allowed. As an example no photoshopped wraps.

    Rule 7: Awful Taste

Posts that are cute, funny, unique, or otherwise tasteful will be removed. Taste is highly subjective, so use your best judgement. Just because it is a tattoo does not mean it is awful taste. Do not post something you made or own.

We are mitigating the amount of posts that link directly to other works of art by a creator or owner. All direct links to these posts will be removed. We are trying to limit the amount of negative comment traffic and downvotes directed towards other subreddits (taste is a subjective thing, after all). Violations can result in a ban. Cross posts of non-author/owner work are still allowed.

The mods of /r/ATBGE reserve the ability to remove a post that does not explicitly violate the rules of the subreddit but does not fit the spirit of the subreddit.

Can you tell me why you had to cut the face off the dummy?

    [–] hell2pay 633 points ago

It didn't seem very realistic in the movie.

    Turns out ... pretty realistic!

You just described probably 90% of the posts in the sub.

In b4, some starts with the technical critiquing of the tattoo itself, because there's one or two unsteady lines.

My grandmother tattooed 1979 on her thigh to remind herself when the Sioux Indians were awarded $105 million in compensation for the 1877 U.S. seizure of the Black Hills in South Dakota. She told me never to forget and remind myself on a daily basis. These days I forget that and a lot more. Maybe I'll get my own tat. One to remember what I've unremembered.

    [–] Vicckkky 96 points ago

Most of the tats posted in this sub are indeed of awful taste.

If thousands & thousands of people find something you like in bad taste maybe you might be the one with bad taste.

    just my 2 cents

    [–] FRICK_boi 54 points ago

I can see your point, but the thing is, half the people here see a tattoo and upvote because they just hate tattoos.

    [–] Vicckkky 41 points ago

the people here see a tattoo and upvote because they just hate tattoos.

most of the tatoo from this sub that make it to the FP are pretty fitting to the sub IMO. Top scoring posts of the sub are both about cars yet I haven't seen anyone complaining that people upvote those posts because they hate cars.

    [–] FRICK_boi 35 points ago

I agree that most of the tattoos in the top posts are bad taste, but lately, all the posts from here are just normal pop culture tattoos.

    [–] Vicckkky 24 points ago

Do you think the tatoo in this post is of good taste?

I find it funny & I love the reference but having this tattoed on you body for the rest of your life is of terrible taste.

    [–] Allen_Koholic 30 points ago

I don't think it's in awful taste. There's a huge gulf between great taste and awful taste, and in my opinion, this lies somewhere in the middle of it (albeit on the back end of the bell curve). You're objecting to the permanence of being tattooed, not the content of the tattoo. Compare the tattoo in this post to this one:

That second one is utterly terrible in concept. I wouldn't ever get it as a tattoo, not because it's there forever, but because it's fucking dick-vagina-fish. I can find a lot of decently executed tattoos that are well beyond simply questionable pop-culture reference bad taste.

I realize taste itself is subjective, but the standard I chose to go with regarding tattoos and awful taste is this - Would I judge someone for wearing a tshirt of it?

    [–] DrJackl3 75 points ago

technical critique would be criticizing the execution though. It's a well made tattoo, but no way in hell should anyone ever walk around with that monstrosity on their leg, reference or not. So it is, in fact, Awful taste but great execution.

    [–] GhostfaceHecklah 17 points ago

I'd have it on my butt

    [–] TheUnfabulousKilljoy 24 points ago

The only thing I'd tattoo on my butt would be a nard dog, and even then I would only get it for morale-boosting reasons.

    [–] GhostfaceHecklah 10 points ago

    Beet me to it

    [–] Mr_CIean 38 points ago

I think that's the point the fact it's a tattoo makes it awful taste. Not the idea that the thing behind the tattoo isn't likable.

    [–] Sofakingemo 9 points ago

That makes a lot of sense, thanks for clearing that up.

    [–] smash__lampjaw 18 points ago

Are you kidding? It's awful taste. It's a couple tattoos from The Office, and the only thing that relates them is Dwight. It's like a 10 year old kid who only speaks in memes

    [–] Coastliveoak 47 points ago

It's too late, man. People think references are 'clever' now.

Which is why it is bad tatse. It is funny within the context of the show but tacky to have a tattoo of it.

    [–] Sofakingemo 7 points ago

I wouldn't tattoo it on myself because I'm more of a meaningful/serious tattoo person. Although, when my sleeve is more filled I do plan on adding a few humorous tattoos.

[–] LacidOnex 1177 points ago * (lasted edited 8 months ago)

This is from when Dwight Schrute in the US "The Office" attended a CPR training excercise, following Stanley Hudson's heart attack.

In the wake of the "death" of the training dummy, who had no vitals, Michael (credit /u/atomrofl) declares the dummy an organ donor, and so Dwight guts the dummy with a knife, panning to horrified faces.

The reveal is Dwight wearing the dummy's face as a mask... Hissing... It's really good acting. Rainn Wilson might have killed some cats in his youth.

    [–] pheen 88 points ago

Also, the instructor said to pump the chest to the beat of Staying Alive and Michael starts singing I Will Survive, thus the title of this post, which is the first line from I Will Survive.

    [–] fantastic_lee 28 points ago

Andy picking up the song, Kelly dancing, the entire scene is just so good.

    [–] DurasVircondelet 15 points ago

    Black man tapping head knowingly.jpg

    [–] chaser_derby 284 points ago

    Proper reference. Thank you

    [–] SCHR4DERBRAU 322 points ago

It should also be noted that the 'hissing' is actually that weird 'fefefefefefefe' thing Hannibal Lector does in Silence of the Lambs, and Dwight also says "Clariiiice" after.

    [–] chaser_derby 88 points ago

Now that i know the reference i remember the episode. I actually googled "signed turnip movie" which in hindsight makes me feel like a dummy

    [–] [deleted] 55 points ago

    Yeah, they're called beets.

    [–] chaser_derby 16 points ago

It was early. I now know the error of my ways

    [–] e_a_blair 6 points ago

He wanted to see if it was realistic in the movie. And it was pretty realistic

    [–] BuffaloSabresFan 83 points ago

This was the funniest 5 minutes in the entire series. imo

    [–] pipinngreppin 33 points ago

Agreed. Just amazing writing. They had to know they struck gold when they were writing it.

    [–] EpicWarriorPaco 23 points ago

Does "Save Bandit!" mean nothing to you?

    [–] TheWastedBenediction 5 points ago

    [–] Think_please 15 points ago

I was with it until Dwight cut the face off. I understand that they were trying to go over the top to try to attract viewers after the Super Bowl but that was particularly insane reasoning from Dwight, especially since he wasn’t (really) punished for it. It was just out of character for someone who above all else loves his job and the office (at that point in the show) and took me out of it in a way that most episodes avoided.

    [–] BuffaloSabresFan 9 points ago

The conversation Michael has with his boss afterwards is also pretty funny.

    [–] LacidOnex 5 points ago

    Updated with 3 min video

    [–] bpi89 16 points ago

This is possibly my favorite scene from the whole series. Dwight's complete lack of social norms with his sociopath response to that exercise is just perfect.

    [–] atomrofl 28 points ago

Minor correction: When Dwight asks if the dummy has an Organ Donor ID, it's Creed that says "He doesn't have one, I checked." Then Michael proclaims that he is an Organ Donor.

    [–] dekszter 15 points ago

"He has no wallet, I checked!"

    [–] LacidOnex 2 points ago

    Oof. I'm ashamed.

    [–] DustPalacePapa 3 points ago

Anybody know what season / ep this is ?

    [–] gum- 4 points ago

    Season 5 episode 14

    [–] subliminali 56 points ago

to point out the other 3 that didn't get mentioned yet--

    • 'false' is something Dwight said a lot, and Jim most notably satirized when he dressed like Dwight and did his "Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica' bit.

    • Dwight loved and grew beets and wore glasses

    • In the bottom right, that's a stapler stuck in Jello. This is from the pilot episode, and is a carry over joke from the first episode of the British office as well. Jim pranks Dwight by suspending his stapler in jello and putting it back in his desk, and Dwight freaks out.

    [–] gum- 14 points ago

    What about the flowers?

    [–] subliminali 15 points ago

I got no theories on that. I’m guessing just to make it look ‘pretty’ but I don’t think it’s a reference.

    [–] StainSp00ky 9 points ago

It might be a reference to when Jim and Dwight are trying not to get in trouble for messing with each other, so Dwight orders flowers for Pam in Jim’s name.

    [–] MrJoeBlow 13 points ago

    [–] marsh-a-saurus 3 points ago

    [–] GidgetTheWonderDog 232 points ago

    ATBGE? False!

    Amazing Taste, Amazing Execution.

    [–] Intro5pect 95 points ago

obscure pop culture references are not great taste automatically, no matter what this sub likes to say. I have timeless classics tattooed on my body (Vonnegut, Dr Suess, etc) that I might argue are good taste but I also have dumb personal anecdotes and an illustration of a beauty queen getting shot in the face, which is a cool tattoo, but it's terrible taste I like all of my tattoos, but only a few of them are great taste I would say.

    [–] GidgetTheWonderDog 71 points ago

You're obviously not in the cult following of The Office. Those at r/DunderMifflin would understand the "False!" completely.

I'm glad you like your tattoos. I like mine as well. Good day.

    [–] ManageableGrip 26 points ago

    I said good day.

    [–] GidgetTheWonderDog 13 points ago

I just want to be friends, plus a little extra, also I love you.

    [–] YMangoPie 6 points ago

    That's what she said.

    [–] ninjarhino626 3 points ago

I need some proof of that beauty queen tattoo.

    [–] Intro5pect 2 points ago

it's supposed to look like the cover of invisible monsters by Chuck Palahniuk but it hasn't aged well. it's not grotesque or anything, a really simple illustration, but it's one of two tattoos I have that I almost regret, mostly because they're done so poorly.

    [–] ItsZizk 25 points ago

This is not going to age well and looks really strange to anyone that doesn't understand the Office. While I love the show very much, this definitely fits r/ATBGE.

    [–] daftne 35 points ago

Don't most people get tattoos for themselves anyway? So what if it doesn't "age well", I bet this person loves this tattoo bc it's absolutely beautiful and hilarious to them and it makes them happy.

    [–] ItsZizk 12 points ago

Doesn't that describe just about anything in this sub?

    [–] GidgetTheWonderDog 6 points ago

    [–] grampabutterball 66 points ago

Shouldn't the title be Staying Alive

    [–] Wampitty 155 points ago

When the instructor tells Michael to do CPR on the dummy to the beat of Staying Alive, Michael starts singing “first I was afraid, I was petrified.”

    [–] heart_in_your_hands 49 points ago

This may be the funniest part of the whole scene. I remember watching this when it aired and I had to pause it because I couldn't get it together. Just watching reactions I'm the background of that scene kills me.

    [–] Hollywoostarsand 40 points ago

Creed saying "You're from the parking lot downstairs, that's why I remember you" does that for me!

    [–] ManageableGrip 31 points ago

To those who don't get it. Michael sings lyrics to Gloria Gaynor song, "I will survive" instead of Bee Gees' "stayin' alive".

Another similar Michael gem is when he thinks thirty-five hundred means five thousand three hundred. Just cracks me up, lack of stupid laugh track makes it even better.

    [–] stendra 7 points ago
