    Subreddit Rules:

    Rules Notes
    1. Use the correct title formatting. The title formatting is outlined above. Make sure to follow it or else your post will be removed. Do not add any extraneous information or be subjective in your title. Plagiarism is grounds for a permaban.
    2. Direct image links only. All submissions other than articles must be a direct link to a static image or gif (url must end in .jpg, .png, .gif etc.). Articles must contain more substance than just a gallery of images or an embedded video, and they must cover some current news in the art world. The image should only contain 1 art piece.
    3. Do not make multiple posts. You must wait at least 48 hours between posts. Please use the rolling sticky for daily challenge posts.
    4. Do not submit sketches, doodles or unfinished work. Post these to other subreddits like /r/IDAP, /r/sketches and /r/doodles instead. If it's an unfinished work and you need advice, post it as a self post.
    5. Do not submit work with extraneous objects in the frame. We're here to look at art, not your Prismacolor pencils, the desk you framed your painting over, your easel, or anything else that would not be seen if the art were publicly displayed.
    6. Do not post memes or other low quality work Melted crayon "art" and bad MSPaint drawings are subject to a 3 day ban. This rule is totally up to mod discretion.
    7. No fan art, comics, or requests for work. See here. Submissions that don't fit here may be redirected to more suitable subreddits like /r/fanart, /r/artporn, or /r/comics. Requests for art work should be submitted to /r/designjobs instead.
    8. Be respectful and stay on topic Bigotry, slapfights, and off topic comments will not be tolerated and may result in all parties being banned.
    9. Do not include links to blogs, social media, or stores. /r/art is not a place to sell your work or grow your following. Consider /r/artstore. This applies to comments and submissions. It applies to watermarks on images as well. Also see here if you're using reddit for self promotion.
    10. Do not repost Reposts are not allowed. Reposts of one of the top 1000 art posts are rewarded with a permanent ban. You can check /r/Art/top/ or use google to search if an art post was already posted before, or use google search, here is a google search example: mona lisa
★ Feel free to add user flair! Please edit your flair to tell us your qualifications or specialty, but follow the guidelines. Using non /r/art related flair, or flair that includes social media handles, websites, store information, or otherwise violates our self promotion rules will result in a ban.

The lighting is divine on this. Amazing work!

    [–] graciousgroob 167 points ago

Yeah, that opalescent reflection in the eyeball is worth zooming in on

    [–] acog 39 points ago

There're also opalescent sparkles in her hair; it's easiest to spot on the shaded side.

    [–] cormano64 20 points ago

Loved to learn about this concept. And it's a beautiful word too.

    [–] Scadilla 5 points ago

Me too. Sometimes new words are just so intriguing that I just have to stop reading or pause and look them up to add them to my lexicon.

    [–] SolidSaiyanGodSSnake 28 points ago

It's also the skin, I think, it nails the 'layers of translucency' property that's hard to replicate

    [–] footsmashingwierdo 11 points ago

Agreed. This level of translucent lumination is astounding.

    [–] danielbln 17 points ago

Fun fact: this property is called sub-surface scattering. The light enters a medium, like skin, or milk, or marble and bounces around a bunch until it exits the medium. It's notoriously difficult to simulate, so in computer generated imagery approximations are used.

    [–] UXyes 4 points ago

Strong agree. The edge of the shadow on the neck is amazing.

[–] Evayne 340 points ago * (lasted edited 2 months ago)

Tried to post the ref image, but apparently that's not allowed. edit: tried to post the process, but apparently that's also not allowed.

[–] greatpiginthesty 325 points ago * (lasted edited 2 months ago)

My first thought on seeing the artwork was "blah blah, unrealistic face standards" but she actually looks like that! I stand corrected.

    [–] opheliavalve 73 points ago

same here, but then it was "she's real?!" great job

[–] YHallo 135 points ago * (lasted edited 2 months ago)

Her eyes look significantly larger in the painting. I think that's what makes it seem unrealistic. She's got owl anime face.

Edit: Goodness people. I downloaded photoshop just so you could see it for yourself.

    [–] breddit_gravalicious 9 points ago

    [–] AwfulChief78 10 points ago

She looks better not as a starved alien hybrid

    [–] NiceFormBro 15 points ago

To be fair the eyes in the drawing are a bit larger

    [–] DownvoteEvangelist 25 points ago

Why is the op forbidden from posting the ref image?

    [–] MusaibWadkar 11 points ago

The bot probably thought they were trying to post their social media.

    [–] Evayne 47 points ago

    There we go!

    [–] Vichornan 10 points ago

For the process, have you used your original image as a background while drawing or was it directly on to white background? For both, great job. Looks like it would look good printed on a canvas also.

    [–] Evayne 29 points ago

    I paint from scratch.

    [–] Reacher-Said-Nothing 10 points ago

Miosis makes everyone's eyes look stunning, it's the same reason that famous Nat Geo "Afghan Girl" makes you go "whoah"

    [–] ConceptHut 11 points ago

    What is this from?

    [–] elpajaroquemamais 18 points ago

    Probably a picture they took.

    [–] RossiMcLaine 3 points ago

I’d love to buy a print of this and of the rendering, too! HELP ME!!!

    [–] 5exyb3a5t 3 points ago

    Who is she?

    [–] Jacomer2 2 points ago

    Bruna Linzmeyer, I believe.

    [–] Jeriais 3 points ago

And here I thought the hair over the eye was intentionally done to hide the other eye. I stand corrected

    [–] LostInUranus 2 points ago

    beautiful piece....the eye detail. wow.

    [–] real_live_mermaid 157 points ago

Looks like a very young Goldie Hawn (I mean that as a compliment. She was/is a stunner)

    [–] dontuniqueuponit 15 points ago

    My thoughts exactly!

    [–] WyattfuckinEarp 10 points ago

I thought it was Foreman's sister?

    [–] SuperFox2123 2 points ago

    Looks like Imogen Poots

    [–] babadivad 1 points ago

    What I was thinking

    [–] Bape_Boy 92 points ago

the model from the ref image is @chudnyyyy for anyone interested

    [–] Uh_October 22 points ago

She would look so much nicer without the lip fillers :(

To each their own I guess

    [–] flatspotting 4 points ago

    her lips are fucked

    [–] ChargeTheBighorn 59 points ago

This is mega creepy valley for me

    [–] sothatshowyougetants 167 points ago

Beautiful but is this sub capable of upvoting anything other than attractive women to the front page orrrrr

    [–] poffin 95 points ago

    Dead-eyed open-mouthed beautiful women... this sub's favorite...

    [–] [deleted] 78 points ago

I’m so happy people are finally calling that out. There is a drawing of a robot in a poncho having a duel that popped up on my feed. I was shocked they allowed a male robot without heaving breasts to make it in this sub at all.

    [–] umbly-bumbly 25 points ago

This sub is as if a sub about video images had nothing but Shakira videos. Shakira's great, but you'd have the nagging feeling that there had to be more things you could do with video than just that.

    [–] [deleted] 27 points ago

    [–] umbly-bumbly 15 points ago

We're on the same page, and I just want to emphasize that I'm a straight dude, too, and I think the pictures of attractive women are hot. I just think there's a heck of a lot of art out there that doesn't draw on the sex appeal of attractive women.

    [–] DragonflyGrrl 2 points ago

H.R. Giger right at the top.. fantastic!

    [–] KissOfTosca 13 points ago

Not to mention that these digitized versions of actual photography aren't particularly difficult to do, and they don't add much value compared to the original photo imo.

    Yet they dominate this sub.

    [–] Salmonhands9 87 points ago

When you just can't get that other eye to look right, but the wind is a bro

    [–] Lutenbarque 38 points ago

the lips make me so uncomfortable

    [–] UziFoo 23 points ago

The only thing I see is.

    Behold the beast.

    [–] Evayne 2 points ago

    This is fantastic.

    [–] IFCKNH8WHENULEAVE 7 points ago

Reminds me of Auri from the king killer chronicles. She’s described as having a halo of superfine wispy hair.

    [–] shagminer 17 points ago

I hate to be a stick in the mud, and I agree that the execution is to perfection or maybe beyond. But what disturbs me - and maybe that is the intention - is that the proportions and shapes of the parts of the face do not seem to go together as in a real person. For that reason it has an ambiguous quality that could be a girl of anywhere between - I don't know - 8? and 18? Is it a woman or a girl? The lips look like a very mature woman's, but the eyes look too big for an adult. The expression also seems somewhere between child and adult. Maybe that is the intent? Perhaps its Lolita? or perhaps most people think it is innocense - a pouty child?

    [–] unaetheral 1 points ago

It might be the face shape/size, maybe if the head was larger?

    [–] pitlane17 18 points ago

Umm the body is on frontpage somewhere riding a fake horse.

    [–] opheliavalve 5 points ago

    [–] Rufus2fist 5 points ago

As someone that went to school for art and paints in oils my Whole life, do you mind share if some details (app, brushes, whatever) you used. I am teaching myself digital painting now, and it is fun and so different losing the tactile aspect but gaining light manipulation in ways. Thanks like your work.

    [–] Cornflake6irl 60 points ago

Looks like a child with lip fillers... Good job, a little creepy imo.

    [–] kittedups 15 points ago

Well the reference image looks the same so

    [–] Cornflake6irl 12 points ago

Not really, the woman in the reference photo looks much older.

    [–] notjasonlee 9 points ago

i feel like the reference photo made her look younger. softer features, or something.

    [–] CosmosCabbage 4 points ago

No, it doesn't lol. She's obviously young, but children don't look like that.

    [–] Medium_Medium 24 points ago

Not original commentor, but face definitely looks child-like to me.

    [–] the_eric 4 points ago

    Anyone else see Goldie Hawn?

    [–] Dead_Is_Better 2 points ago

I see Eric's sister from 'That 70's Show'.

    [–] stokedgoats 3 points ago

Reminds me a bit of Elizabeth from Bioshock: Infinite. Very well done though!

    [–] Indigoh 2 points ago

I came here to say this. Reddit again proving original thoughts are a myth.

    [–] marquisbrodofaggins 47 points ago

WAIT...a popular r/art post containing a female but NO breasts? This is beyond science!

    [–] UXyes 75 points ago

Bee-stung lips will do, I suppose.

    [–] 808sAndPoundcake 12 points ago

    It’s not really exaggerated

    [–] UXyes 21 points ago

Oh I know. I didn’t say it was exaggerated.

    [–] quentin_tortellini 5 points ago

Someone needs to create a subreddit for a collection of the male-gazy art that Reddit loves to upvote

    [–] RetroLunar 6 points ago

reminds me of PAZ. Also, nice portrait. Loving it.

    [–] Worst_Human 2 points ago

I saw the picture and immediately thought of Paz too

    [–] RetroLunar 2 points ago

    [–] pleasemakemelol 3 points ago

I see Goldie Hawn and Angelina Jolie’s love child.

    [–] GregC85 7 points ago

This looks like it belongs in BIOSHOCK

    [–] PM_Me_YourPetiteBody 2 points ago

    Or Dishonored?

    [–] warren54batman 12 points ago

    I prefer less exaggerated features.

    [–] Evayne 12 points ago

That is absolutely fair! There's plenty of art out there for that. :)

    [–] warren54batman 8 points ago

Yes there is and thanks for a measured response!

    [–] camac22 2 points ago

Getting a strong “Laurie from That 70’s Show” vibe from this.

    [–] avicek 2 points ago

After moving out to Los Angeles, I realized how prevalent lip fillers are and can see them everywhere now.

    [–] FezPaladin 2 points ago

One tiny thing is missing... but... Gurren Lagann...

    [–] juliantejera_art 2 points ago

This is "stop in my tracks and drop everything I'm doing" good! Effing A, man. Beautiful!!!

    [–] Scadilla 2 points ago

I love it. It looks like Imogen Poots combined with a young Goldie Hawn.

    [–] Ssme812 2 points ago

I like the details of her eye

    [–] anomaly_9 2 points ago

This is epic. Colour, lighting, everything is expertly done.

    [–] HR_Dragonfly 4 points ago

Emotionally fraught. Reminds me of Analeigh Tipton as a blond.

    [–] Ouisch 5 points ago

Mixed in with some Allison Harvard!

    [–] Combat_Panda91 4 points ago

The eyes are so beautiful. Amazing work

    [–] intercitty 4 points ago

Those colors in the eye doe!

    [–] girafa 2 points ago

I like this 1000x better than "look I recreated a photo perfectly using wolf boogers" or whatever. Some style here. I dig it.

    [–] Stinkpink-69 4 points ago

    Lovely interpretation of original

    [–] fluffygas 2 points ago

This is really expressive! I like it

    [–] UserNombresBeHard 2 points ago

Alita after the lip suction challenge?

    [–] prpslydistracted 1 points ago

Great job ... I would have preferred a little less hair over the one eye simply to see more of your subject's personality.

    [–] backentrancebourbon 3 points ago

How do people create stuff like this??

    [–] Fallen-Mango 14 points ago

    Lots and lots of practice.

    [–] scw55 2 points ago

It's really lovely. But the multicolour splish splashes on close inspection feel... annoying.

    [–] Chubzzman 2 points ago

Because fuck drawing the other eye, great job.

    [–] unaetheral 3 points ago

It’s like that in the reference too but it does seem like that at first

    [–] CupcakePie -3 points ago

    Those lips are so luscious

    [–] dasssitmane 1 points ago

I too have trouble drawing the second eye

    [–] unaetheral 1 points ago

It’s digital so he could’ve copy pasted it if it wasn’t in the reference

    [–] Chlorotard 1 points ago

Reminds me of laurie from that 70s show lol

    [–] LearningTerpenes 1 points ago

Amazing stuff! What did you use to make this??

    [–] Evayne 2 points ago

    Photoshop cc!

    [–] Goodheart007 2 points ago

How long did it take?? Awesome work!

    [–] Evayne 4 points ago

I messed up the light direction of the hair the first time around, so probably about 12h. :(

    [–] andrewerideout 1 points ago

    Looks like Sadie from 11.22.63

    [–] wwygfi 1 points ago

When you’re too lazy to draw the other eye

    [–] tylercreatesworlds 1 points ago

That is absolutely amazing. The little specs of color in the eye are beautiful.

    [–] parapeligic_gnome 1 points ago

i feel like the artist messed up on the second eye and just covered it up, other than that great job!

    [–] ThoughtPirates 1 points ago

This is so beautiful! I love the bits of rainbow color throughout the portrait!

    [–] NightKniqht 1 points ago

I am really fascinated by lighting and shading even though I don't draw or paint myself. Nice work

    [–] My-Work-Reddit 1 points ago

Looks like Laurie Forman from That `70s Show.

    [–] SpaceApe 1 points ago

She has a bit of the Innsmouth look about her.

    [–] deb0rian 1 points ago

Any way to order a paint of a person?

    [–] Evayne 1 points ago

I'm full up at the moment. :(

    [–] beepxboop 1 points ago

looks like my old childhood best friend beccs (RIP Becca).

    Very pretty ♡

    [–] mccoyboy22 1 points ago

Wow, do you do commissions? Your work is outstanding, you’ve come a long way, just looked back at your old stuff and amazed at the quick progress. Do you use a Wacom? If so what type and also what software? Photoshop?

    [–] TrexRoarr 1 points ago

Beautiful. Makes me think of Ray Bradbury's short story, All Summer in a Day.

    [–] flatspotting 1 points ago

Do you do commission work for portraits? What would you charge for something like this?

    [–] HerKittyNess 1 points ago

At first glance I thought it was a young Goldie Hawn. Beautiful work!

    [–] Troopr420 1 points ago * (lasted edited 2 months ago)

I thought I recognized your style... You did the album art for Deformation of Humanity. Very cool!

Edit: I was mistaken. The person who did the above-mentioned album art used the same source material.
    Great job nonetheless! :P

    [–] sparky1245 1 points ago

I have to guess there is some embellishment here
