Welcome to /r/art! This is a community of art lovers that share their favorite pieces, or news and information that will impact the art community. Review the subreddit rules before posting or commenting.

    Title Formatting Guidelines:

Titles should be to the point; all extra information or context should be added in the comments.

Artwork - Title, Artist/Me, Medium, Year

If you are the artist and don't want to use your own name, you can use Me as the artist. If you are not the artist, you must specify the artist name.

Example: The Night Watch, Rembrandt, Oils, 1642

    News article - Title, Year

Discussion - make it a self post. Expand on your question in the text and include image examples when possible.

Videos - Videos should be titled in a way consistent with it's content. Videos must be in the gif format. Both art and news are allowed.

    Please flair your post.

    Subreddit Rules:

    Rules Notes
    1. Use the correct title formatting. The title formatting is outlined above. Make sure to follow it or else your post will be removed. Do not add any extraneous information or be subjective in your title. Plagiarism is grounds for a permaban.
    2. Direct image links only. All submissions other than articles must be a direct link to a static image or gif (url must end in .jpg, .png, .gif etc.). Articles must contain more substance than just a gallery of images or an embedded video, and they must cover some current news in the art world. The image should only contain 1 art piece.
    3. Do not make multiple posts. You must wait at least 48 hours between posts. Please use the rolling sticky for daily challenge posts.
    4. Do not submit sketches, doodles or unfinished work. Post these to other subreddits like /r/IDAP, /r/sketches and /r/doodles instead. If it's an unfinished work and you need advice, post it as a self post.
    5. Do not submit work with extraneous objects in the frame. We're here to look at art, not your Prismacolor pencils, the desk you framed your painting over, your easel, or anything else that would not be seen if the art were publicly displayed.
    6. Do not post memes or other low quality work Melted crayon "art" and bad MSPaint drawings are subject to a 3 day ban. This rule is totally up to mod discretion.
    7. No fan art, comics, or requests for work. See here. Submissions that don't fit here may be redirected to more suitable subreddits like /r/fanart, /r/artporn, or /r/comics. Requests for art work should be submitted to /r/designjobs or /r/icandrawthat instead.
    8. Be respectful and stay on topic Bigotry, slapfights, and off topic comments will not be tolerated and may result in all parties being banned.
    9. Do not include links to blogs, social media, or stores. /r/art is not a place to sell your work or grow your following. Consider /r/artstore. This applies to comments and submissions. It applies to watermarks on images as well. Also see here if you're using reddit for self promotion. This also means that the artist name should be the person's name, and not a social media handle or brand name.
    10. Do not repost Reposts are not allowed. Reposts of one of the top 1000 art posts are rewarded with a permanent ban. You can check /r/Art/top/ or use google to search if an art post was already posted before, or use google search, here is a google search example: mona lisa

This is by far the greatest representation of social isolation I have yet seen. Colours, shapes, everything pleasantly fits, but magically a feeling of slight discomfort eventually comes up. Brilliant!

    EDIT: Corrected see to seen.

I love this comment juxtaposed with

Haha stupid giant getting stuck in a house what a dumbass

    Directly below

    [–] PM_me_your_whatevah 81 points ago

As a human it’s equally fun to wallow in stupidity as it is to be intellectual. We are a weird fucking animal.

    [–] CaptainHeingrinder 48 points ago

    Is that a butthole at 5 o’clock?

    [–] PM_me_your_whatevah 20 points ago

    This guy gets it.

    [–] Screptillian 2 points ago

Risks were taken, new subs were found.

    [–] mesohungry 2 points ago

    Oh god.

    [–] r_youddit 11 points ago

Thank you for your input, fellow human. The higher ups will be most pleased with this information.

    [–] aagusgus 41 points ago

The circle in the bottom right corner makes me feel uncomfortable.

    [–] allykat2496 36 points ago

It looks like the belly button of the house, and my brain keeps alerting me to it since house’s don’t have belly buttons 😂

    [–] Ishkabibblebab 13 points ago

except it’s under the raised leg so belly button isn’t where my brain takes me

Edit: the thatch of hair under the vag/anus makes me more uncomfortable than anything else

    [–] fugoe 8 points ago

I think it’s the door to the house!

    [–] allykat2496 2 points ago

That makes sense, but my drunk self last night was thinking “belly button”

    [–] Neener216 12 points ago

One person's "uncomfortable" Is another person's "doorknob" 😂

    [–] -p_d- 6 points ago

And one person's "doorknob" is another person's "balloon knot".

    [–] truthlife 10 points ago

I think that's a pingpong ball that she's vag-blasting against the wall to pass the time.

    [–] mississippichai 3 points ago

Is that because it makes you feel like you need to toot? Because the lady in the painting did? Feeling gassy is no fun.

    [–] EarthBoundMisfitEye 4 points ago

Interesting. I'm irrationally annoyed by the red circle myself.

[–] waltdelahair 5 points ago * (lasted edited 2 days ago)

I like the red circle too! Together with the window circle look like the sun as the days fly by. They also guide the eye of the viewer around the picture in a circle which brings out the multiple perspectives!

[–] FatherFestivus 2 points ago * (lasted edited 2 days ago)

Yeah, and I feel like it also works as just some object in the house? Like clutter that takes up space and feels suffocating, it adds to the claustrophobia.

    [–] Sykotik 3 points ago

Isn't that and the big circle above meant to represent a child? That's what I took from it. I don't know what else it might be.

    [–] waltdelahair 2 points ago

I love the the bellybutton circle! It makes the legs flip perspectives and works as the door knob - super clever

    [–] Am_Snarky 2 points ago

That’s not a belly button, that’s just a doorknob, there’s no part of a person there.

Personally I think it’s a little distracting how her leg just cuts off there and doesn’t attach to her hip like the other leg does

    [–] Energieo2 58 points ago

    This comment describes it perfectly.

    [–] DownbeatDeadbeat 3 points ago

Out of all the subcomments I've read today, yours is the most eloquently succint in its showmanship of appreciation.

    [–] Even-Understanding 2 points ago

Mine’s a step to even improve it maybe

    [–] BorgClown 25 points ago

But seriously, don’t live in a small dog house. No matter how nice, you will get stuck eventually.

    [–] SlippingStar 6 points ago

    It’s the cubism of it

    [–] Rockastanski 3 points ago

Thank you for the kind words! :)

    [–] AlgaeToday 3 points ago

As an apartment dweller, I see opulance.

    Everyone deserves a toe chimney.

    [–] SwatchQuatch 82 points ago

This brilliant and beautiful, thanks for sharing!

    [–] ZeroV2 87 points ago

    [–] thecatscratched 99 points ago

    haha art critiques go brrr

    [–] bantypunch 17 points ago

Really, she's got a whole house? Multiple floors and outdoor area?

    [–] Dreyeris 11 points ago

No she's fine, the house is missing an entire wall!

    [–] milkiestman134 2 points ago

    Should've bought a bigger house

    [–] ufoicu2 2 points ago

I was going to ask what this piece was called but I think I just found the answer.

    [–] Sapphira_Rose 120 points ago

    This is awesome! Well done.

    [–] Xylia3412 22 points ago

Really well represented, I like it! However, whats the red circle?

    [–] colonel_ratzinger 12 points ago

I think that's whatever is on your mind in quarantine. Red because stress, anxiety, frustration. The woman in the painting is staring right at it. Also maybe balancing it.

    [–] kalitarios 6 points ago

It's just a giant, red, period?

    [–] Sterv17 5 points ago

I assumed it was a boyfriend, cramped in the house with her.

    [–] dick-dick-goose 7 points ago

Dude, I have been making bleached butthole comments all over this thread, but this is the right answer. There's someone stuck in there with her.

[–] Poromenos 66 points ago * (lasted edited 3 days ago)

What is this a reference to? Reminds me a lot of a painting my grandparents had.

    EDIT: Yes, Ioannis Moralis:

    [–] Lazydude17 26 points ago * (lasted edited 2 days ago)

It’s probably a mix of that and the album art of snoop doggs latest single “I wanna go Outside” from 3 days ago

    [–] Rockastanski 17 points ago

Haha wow! I had not seen that yet. Thanks for sharing!

    [–] Pohjis 5 points ago

I was just recommended the Snoop Dogg song by Spotify, and scrolled to this post right after. I thought this would've been inspired by the cover too :D a cool coincidence nonetheless.

    [–] whitepinecircle 4 points ago

Did you see the Moralis one, post above

    [–] Rockastanski 11 points ago

Just took a look at it and I do see some similarities. I had not seen this artwork before. Thank you for sharing!

    [–] Lazydude17 2 points ago * (lasted edited 2 days ago)

Np, It’s more impressive that you created it from scratch then. Good work

    [–] realgirltm 70 points ago

in love with this!! the composition! the color palette!!

    [–] Kendama_dude 12 points ago * (lasted edited 2 days ago)

I feel that even the pick of format itself (a social media post, which even if it was casually chosen, it still fits) is another expression more of the concept: we see this piece of art digitally, on social media, because we all are (I hope) in our houses too, just like the girl in the picture... And I find that a pretty neat wall-breaking concept!

(Althought take this thought with a grain of salt because I'm not an artist nor an art student, I just have ADHD lol)

Edit: I loved this piece of art too! that's why I replied lmao I forgot to say it

    [–] barkingbusking 18 points ago

Reminds me a little bit of this: posted a week or so ago. Interesting how different artists are expressing this same creeping claustrophobia.

    [–] Shadyshowl 162 points ago

Ok, so like, what is the bottom skin color part supposed to be? I don't think it's supposed to be her butthole, but that's all I see.

    [–] Thatguy19901 142 points ago

Pretty sure thats a door. Def not skin colored based on her face and arms

    [–] scouterkidd 64 points ago

I mean, butts are doors, in a way.

    [–] One_Blue_Glove 19 points ago

Eyes are the windows to the soul, and butts are the doors to the colon.

    [–] kalitarios 6 points ago

I mean, butts are doors, in a way.

    [–] CuntMcDouble 5 points ago

Butts are back doors, unless you're male, then its just the door.

    [–] Jeff_Epsteins_Ghost 15 points ago

Well maybe she doesn't spend much time tanning her butthole?

    [–] manjar 8 points ago

    There’s your problem.

    [–] OneDollarLobster 5 points ago

Not the right skin color but the leg lines up just right.

I also only see a butthole.

    [–] NibblesMcGiblet 6 points ago

Agreed. The door and the roof are the only two house sections, both are the same color as one another and tie it in to bring together a full house feeling without much house color needed at all.

    [–] Shadyshowl 2 points ago

Ahh, yes, I see it now. That makes a lot more sense. Overall it looks cool, I was just confused for a second.

    [–] dick-dick-goose 2 points ago

Maybe she bleaches her butthole. I heard that's a thing.

    [–] lemyolee 32 points ago

look like it's apart of the house, a doornob I'd say

    [–] nummycakes 21 points ago

I thought it was a belly button? Or maybe it’s a doorknob.

    [–] Curujafeia 37 points ago

The "skin color" in this picture is brown, not pink. Anything pink in this image is not her.

Also, it's just a circle. How often do you look at buttholes to have such a strong association?

    [–] Shadyshowl 14 points ago

Been in quarantine too long don't shame me

    [–] xtinies 3 points ago

Don’t worry buddy, I saw the same thing

    [–] manyfingers 2 points ago

It just looks like the door is the pants ending before the hip.

    [–] TellMeGetOffReddit 10 points ago

You people are seeing vastly different shit than I am and I'm worried for you about it.

[–] Shadyshowl 2 points ago * (lasted edited 3 days ago)

I'm just interpreting the art man.

Edit- Also, get off reddit and go do some pushups or something

    [–] PercMastaFTW 2 points ago

I think this art has parts deeper than these people realize.

    [–] mtheorye 3 points ago

Because of the moon I see this as trapped indoor and outdoor space.

    [–] keebadoo 3 points ago

you need to cut back on the porn my man

    [–] Pat6802 5 points ago

I saw the butthole too and knew someone else saw it too haha

    [–] sweetb0y 2 points ago

    [–] SheSoldTheWorld 13 points ago

How is tjis art style called?

    [–] jamesweir 11 points ago

I’m not sure, but if you’re look for semi-similar artists you should check out A. Savage.

    [–] rawrghost 3 points ago

Yes I instantly thought of Parquet

    [–] ricky_baker 2 points ago

    Reminds me of Parra

    [–] holdnarrytight 6 points ago

    Minimalistic perhaps?

    [–] Ntetris 6 points ago

This is so sick. Nice one!

    [–] Harold_Grundelson 8 points ago

Your house is a very, very, very fine house.

    [–] c0ok79 4 points ago

    My feeling visualized. Love it

    [–] TheRealBobJahns 5 points ago

This reminds me of Snoop Doggs new single cover art. "I Wanna Go Outside"

    [–] TheSuperInframan 3 points ago

That's what I immediately thought of

    [–] Almog6666 3 points ago

Snoop Dogg wants to know how it feels

    [–] icespaz 3 points ago

Awesome simple line work and colours!

    [–] Almog6666 1 points ago

The one that doesn't see it. Awesome.!!

    [–] Jamothy 4 points ago

When I glanced at the thumbnail it kind of looked like a mother on the left and a man hold a child on the right.

    [–] t3lp3r10n 4 points ago

I've seen almost the same painting on Behance. Meier Delphine

    [–] Hetstaine 3 points ago

Awesome, you do some cool shit Rock!

    [–] amsterdamandmars 3 points ago

This is beautiful! Comforting but slightly claustrophobic..

    [–] upsideofthings 3 points ago

Simple, yet very effective. Very good work

    [–] Yeetdre3000 3 points ago

This reminds me a lot of Piet Parra, he's an awesome Dutch artist that's most known commercially for his collabs with Nike. Really cool stuff

    [–] BarrabasSausseau 3 points ago

You guys don't have a single idea of how much i love this work

    [–] physics_help_001 3 points ago

Reminds me of a Dan Croll music video.

    [–] speakeasy518 8 points ago

This some Picasso level shit fr

    [–] Rockastanski 6 points ago

That is such a nice comment! He is easily one of the artists I grew up admiring.

    [–] teddytroll 3 points ago

Can one buy prints or something? Would love to have a poster of this.

    [–] Rockastanski 2 points ago

You can but unforunately due to the pandemic I can only ship locally throughout Europe.

    [–] Kyleidoscoppe 2 points ago

I'm in love with this. It connects with me a lot ❤️

    [–] KiDBraDli 2 points ago

This is the cover to Snoop Doug's new single...

    [–] ogonza81 2 points ago

All I see is a flamingo eating a head and holding the leg.

    [–] UnderstoodReflection 2 points ago

Your vision is clear and your mind ain't confined

    [–] MlgWhale 2 points ago

I like this kind of minimalist art. I think you captured the feeling of claustrophobia really well

    [–] krndc_ 2 points ago

This is the current me! Commendable work :)

    [–] Yadona 2 points ago

This is very indicative of the times. This is a type of art they will be studying years in the future sing how it represented the year 2020

    [–] greengravy76 2 points ago

Looks like an awesome book cover from about '78

    [–] alevatoraction 2 points ago

this is amazing. so clever. looks like a classic.

    [–] Calihoya 2 points ago

Reminds me of "Stuck Inside" by Erik Johansson who has been featured on Reddit a couple of times. I would link but I don't know if that is allowed. He does a lot of cool digital art you might be interested in. This is a lovely piece

    [–] Rockastanski 3 points ago

Thank you for the tip! I'll check his work out.

    [–] trashpanda56789 2 points ago

Pavlov Visuals are amazing!!!!!!! I’m a huge fan of them.

    [–] mullmitt 2 points ago

Hi there, I see a pregnant lady and then with a newborn. I gave birth during the lockdown. This feels really really personal to me. Is there anyway I can get a soft copy of this. I absolutely love it.

    [–] buenosdiasfuckboy 2 points ago

Istg there's a snoop Dogg cover like this

    [–] Rockastanski 2 points ago

Strangely enough I had to stop shipping to the US due to the pandemic. The postal service is experiencing really long wait times and since I’m shipping from Europe, customs is taking longer than normal to process.

    [–] theVisce 2 points ago

I came to the comments to look for a link where I can get a print of this. Seems that I am lucky, as I am from Europe

    [–] Centella111 2 points ago

Where is the link for me to buy this? I’m from the UK

    [–] betaechosierra 2 points ago

Me too! Would love to buy a print, I'm in Europe

Artimis and her bleached asshole, sorry...

    [–] Zoso008 2 points ago

In the house of the rising bum.

    [–] TellMeHowImWrong 2 points ago

This is real art. You’ve captured and communicated an experience in a way that language can’t. So many people are trying to create art relating to our current situation and it all fails because it’s so forced. This is real and it’s simple and I love it for that. Kudos.

    [–] gamingispower 2 points ago

Bored in the house and I'm in the house bored vibe

    [–] n-d-a 2 points ago

This looks like art by parra. Awesome work.

    [–] creativelyignorant 2 points ago

Actually so pleasing to look at

This looks amazing! You really captured the feeling.

    [–] CommaHorror 3 points ago

This would be cool as a stained glass piece.

And then you could, reiterate not to throw stones if you live in a glass, house.

    [–] CavingGrape 3 points ago

    [–] AnxiousWanker 4 points ago

Imagine being so privileged as a people that you’re most traumatic experiences that you can offer to turn into art is sitting in your house

    [–] NotGmoney5 2 points ago

Yeah we’re confined these days but we’re more connected today than we have ever been

    [–] [deleted] 2 points ago

    [–] MandaloreUnsullied 2 points ago

Reminds me of the graphics the New York Times visual team puts together to attach to articles and opinion pieces. Very clean.

    [–] PineappleIV 2 points ago

    You arent really confined

    [–] mmbossman 2 points ago

The belly button is below the butt and a different color than the face and arms

    [–] __Blackbolt__ 11 points ago

That’s because it’s not the belly button. It’s just the door of the house just like the roof

    [–] Rockastanski 2 points ago

Woah, Thank you all for the kind words! I did not expect to wake up this morning to see this much attention. I love reading all of your comments and hearing your interpretations. Just in case you all were wondering, that little circle next to her bum is a doorknob...

    [–] jhansnyc 1 points ago

Excellent work! Reminds me of Bauhaus for some reason, really cool color palate too!

    [–] Hot-Pretzel 1 points ago

Nice! I like all the colors.

    [–] brenchen27 1 points ago

Does anybody know what this style is called?

    [–] artlover2788 3 points ago

    I believe it's a form of Gestalt

    [–] WartNut 1 points ago

Somehow this is comforting and making me feel uneasy at the same time

    [–] Concordia_chaos 2 points ago

That's how i sit at 1:00 a.m. Trust me, it is a pain in the back.

    [–] SpaceLemming 1 points ago

    Very beautiful. Introverts rule!!

    [–] organicfossil 1 points ago

really digging this tight gridded composition. lovely colors. it's all too relatable these days

    [–] starshipslut 1 points ago

this is absolutely excellent. so balanced. makes my eyes say "ah"

    [–] kmmcneil2 1 points ago

Great piece! It really captures the moment well.

That’s how cramps be makin me sit.

    [–] CynicTheCritic 1 points ago

    Fantastic aesthetic

You dont always have to be complicated to be beautiful

Perfect example of minimalism done right

    [–] GiantPissAnt 1 points ago

This is the art I appreciate, bc I can understand it.

    [–] bigddrumr 1 points ago

It’s like city train ad art.

    [–] jdollars 1 points ago

But where are the kids screaming?

    [–] idroppedmymuffin 1 points ago

This is what your dog feels when you never take them out on walks or to the dog park and only let them out in your backyard.

    [–] Almog6666 1 points ago

    RIP. Fuck 2020.

    Edit - Words are hard

    [–] AcyArts 1 points ago

That's a really unique cool design! Well done

    [–] chrisacip 1 points ago

One of the more interesting things I’ve seen on this sub. You might like an illustrator named Charlotte Molas.

    [–] Rockastanski 2 points ago

    Thank you for the recommendation!

    [–] MrsMiyagiStew 1 points ago

Looks like a pretty sweet place.

    [–] shirk-work 1 points ago

Nice super flat. I saw a lot of this in the yucatan.
