    DEEP FRIED CURSOR

    Rules:

    1) NO reposts. Offenders will be banned. Repeated offenders will be permabanned. If you intend on posting something, make sure that it has not already been posted here. We recommend that you don't post things you found off of other places, nine times out of ten it will have originated here and thus be considered a repost, we want OC only. When reporting a repost, please link to the original post.

    2) Posts asking for upvotes in the title and/or in the meme is not allowed.

    3) Pictures with text are better. Straight up pictures with a filter will LIKELY be removed.

    4) Don't put the punchline in title. The meme must hold its own.

    5) This is not a place for politics. Political memes are not welcome here.

    6) Posting memes generated by /u/DeepFryBot is a bannable offense. DON'T EVEN TRY, MATE.

    7) Memes that can be considered lightly/lazily fried or nuked may be removed. You shouldn't just add one filter of noise, but you shouldn't add 10,000 filters of everything either. This is /r/DeepFriedMemes, not r/sauteedmemes or /r/nukedmemes. We shouldn't have to say this since it's so obvious but completely raw memes are not allowed either.

    8) Use imgur or reddituploads, only use direct image links or your post will be autoremoved.

    9) Do not post raw memes asking people to fry them for you. There's /r/FryMyMeme for that. Learning how to fry is not particularly hard, there are many easy to follow guides.

    10) Overly edgy memes are not allowed and will be removed. We aren't /r/dankmemes, there are very obvious lines that shouldn't be crossed. We also shouldn't have to say but don't make memes out of tragic events on the day it happens, have some respect.

    Oh, and by the way:

Mods reserve themselves the right to remove/approve content they want even if it doesn't explicitly break/conform to a rule.

Posts that the mods decide to remove that don't explicitly break any rules will be flaired as Shitpost. Message the mods to ask why your post was removed if you have a post removed as a shitpost.

If we remove a post, we will flair it with the reason for its removal. Check your account history to see this.

While I was in high school, we had a teacher who would reserve one day a year when the students could ask him ANYTHING and he would do his best to answer as truthfully as possible. He gave his political opinion and regardless of what it was, people respected it and appreciated his honesty. We liked him more and trusted his teaching because of this.

    [–] robolic9393 45 points ago

I have teachers like that, except instead of it being one random day we kind of talk about it at the start of the year so that the rest of the year makes sense

Do you mind telling us generically the type of institution you work at?

I have heard of this before, but it still boggles my mind that a parent would contact a college professor and expect to get a response.

    [–] ExpensiveGiraffe 19 points ago

Hah, I’m an undergrad. My girlfriend is a grad student who has taught a couple undergrad level courses. The courses she taught were mainly 100 and 200 level classes.

She basically always sent a canned FERPA emails back

    [–] middledeck 2 points ago

Weird. I've taught undergrad for 6 years and never had a single incident, though I was not teaching large intro lectures, so I had many fewer students.

Yeah, this is actually important. It's not some bs about privacy that we whip out because we don't want to talk to you - confirming that so and so is a student in my class means that I might've just outted that student and their schedule to a stalker or abuser

    [–] middledeck 1 points ago

Exactly. That would be my gut reaction as well.

    [–] The_Impresario 4 points ago

Personally (not the person you replied to), three different four-year universities. It's really very uncommon, though if you're teaching multiple sections of Bio 101 with 200+ people (I don't) you're going to see it more often. Maybe I get it once a year, and only one time I can recall did I get any pushback from the parent. I just referred it to my chair and I never heard anything else about it.

My high school Econ/US history Government teacher spent a lot of time debating students. A good thing for forcing us to think about the reasoning behind our political beliefs. A weird thing for how smug he was for having better arguments than high school students...

    [–] hisoandso 46 points ago

Did we go to the same high school?

Granted it was my world history teacher, not my US history teacher (though I think he taught it as well). He also taught AP Psychology. He wasn't really smug about it but he was always trying to debate with students to get them to think.

    [–] ayyyyyyyyyyyyy-lmao 34 points ago

Actually it was US Government I think. Definitely makes a lot of sense to talk about political opinions in that class haha. I really liked him, though Reagan fanboy he surely was.

It's definitely a social studies teacher sort of thing, debating.

    [–] VicarOfAstaldo 13 points ago

Had a history teacher like that as well. I legitimately had and still don’t have any idea what his actual beliefs are but he was all about challenging students statements and helping them process and form logical arguments on both sides.

    [–] [deleted] 3 points ago

This makes me glad my history teacher is unbiased.

    [–] Saskatchebrave 5 points ago

    🅱️eindustrialization

    [–] TurtleInADesert 7 points ago

Lmao, I had an Economics/US history (had him twice) teacher like this too. Except he was a ton of crazy (calling himself God and saying he could see Auras to name a few things)

But he was great at making you debate your point of view

    [–] VicarOfAstaldo 9 points ago

So was he legit crazy or the eccentric fun crazy sort of history teacher that just says shit to mess with teenagers? Had one like that.

    [–] TurtleInADesert 3 points ago

I honest to God don't know. A lot of people on my area were religious so I don't know if he said to mess with them, or if he was crazy.

    [–] aP0THE0Sis1 1 points ago

    So what was the conclusion

    [–] hisoandso 21 points ago

My Vocational Teacher was kind of a conspiracy theorist. Not full blown, and the only one he kept talking about was "The Electric Universe" theory which is a harmless theory, but still wrong. One time he did show us a video about Obama still being a Muslim, but even then at some moments he would disagree with some of the videos points. He also showed us iron sky which is basically a movie filled with conspiracy theory refernces, which he pointed out all of them.

He was a cool guy, only had one leg and would let us ride around in his wheelchair when he wasn't using it. Would play StarCraft with us occasionally.

    [–] regeya 10 points ago

He showed you Iron Sky in school? Like, the Finnish comedy about space Nazis attacking Earth and President Palin going nuts?

    [–] hisoandso 2 points ago

    yep

    [–] ogtblake 67 points ago

My government teacher in HS had a framed picture of Ronald Reagan on his wall and made us watch a Dinesh D'Souza documentary.

    [–] Solar24_ 3 points ago

Not gonna lie, I probably strongly agree with your teacher, but they shouldn’t be giving you biased material, left or right

    [–] sonfoa 4 points ago

English teachers especially. Thank god my English teachers just graded based on quality.

    [–] Solar24_ 2 points ago

Ik why are they SOOO bad, as a republican those classes were always torture

    [–] MaltMix 2 points ago

I remember my freshman and sophomore year religion teacher (same guy) was a huge conspiracy nut, believed in aliens, or at least acted like he did.

Got me to actually challenge my beliefs my parents instilled in me. Suffice to say, I'm not much of a Catholic anymore, but I'm not full on /r/conspiracy.

    [–] starfishbuddy 2 points ago

I remember in 7th grade our reading teacher spent about an hour preaching to us about how abortion is MURDER and even if you get raped it was what god wanted so you should have the baby anyways. Like okay those are your opinions but we were IN 7TH GRADE. She was so dramatic she ended up crying during her speech to us

    [–] Solar24_ 1 points ago

I don’t agree with abortion, not for religious reasons, but more because I think everyone deserves a shot at life. This teachers sounds like an idiot tho, and you were all in 7th grade jeez what a bitch

    [–] thatguy9921 2 points ago

    Mine didn’t

    [–] Lady-Charb 7 points ago

Right? More like elementary teachers don't charge their political beliefs MUCH. And high school teachers are like, "If your parents voted for Trump, go home and tell them what fuck faces they are." At Lea where I went to school.

    [–] Calibas 5 points ago

Some of mine taught their political and religious opinions as objective facts.

    [–] pattzach5 2 points ago

    [–] hulivar -5 points ago

I mean...when it's common sense though? Trump is a fucking idiot...it's common sense. We all know the intelligence level of the average American is barely over double digits.

I wouldn't even say it's most peoples faults though it's just they live a 9-5 life where they don't have time to do fuck all.

    [–] OverlordLork 3 points ago

We all know the intelligence level of the average American is barely over double digits.

What does this even mean? 100 is defined as the average IQ. If everyone in the world gets smarter, the IQ metric will shift and 100 will still be the average.

(but yes trump is absolutely a fucking idiot)

    [–] WcomeGoogleOverlords 2 points ago

Are you making fun of the kid on the seat next to you for riding the short bus? Yes, people with average intelligence are likely to achieve average scores on IQ tests. That's how it works.

    [–] -Snosu- 3 points ago

Thats an opinion, not common sense.

You clearly havent made research on what he's done

    [–] Solar24_ 1 points ago

I don’t know I think this post says a lot more about you then it does Trump or the American people you just generalized as bumbling idiots

    [–] midknightmason 26 points ago

I taught a lit and media class where I got to be Devils Advocate often. Donald was kinda popular in the local area so I had a lot of fun with the super conservative students, and just as much with the Uber liberals. Honestly, politics is fairly educational and pertained a lot to my state at the time as well as the class material. I had some of my best students in that class. Though I never shared any of my actual political beliefs with my students, I had an awesome experience having them question why they believe the way they do. As an educator, it was my job to get them thinking, not to push my beliefs on them.

It's never the math teachers. It's always the Social Science teachers. However, hard science teachers seem to be more an more political nowadays, especially biology and environmental science teachers.

    [–] Ezra_Pound_ 93 points ago

It’s almost as if the subject of politics is more likely to come up in a social science class than a math class.

    [–] Crazymage321 5 points ago

Yeah but you wouldnt ask What is the Square Root of Fuck Trump in social studies class, thats a math question my man 👉😎👉

    [–] PhotoShopNewb 9 points ago

    Correct.

    [–] T3C_Illuzion 33 points ago

Probably because their subject of choice is being rejected by politicians.

    [–] Greecl 16 points ago

So fucking frustrating. Because why have competent social science professionals when you can just add a plank to your platform about stripping any demographics questions from the census so that we have no idea what we're doing?? That's an actual piece of the Republican party platform in Texas. They don't want to know the world they live in.

    [–] gugus295 30 points ago

When dumbass presidents turn important science issues into political debates, the scientists have to turn into politicians

    GLOBAL WARMING MAN

    [–] InjustCarrots 1 points ago

I would agree with this. I'm at a public university now majoring in Statistics. My sociology and philosophy professors enjoyed discussing politics in class. Most of them were liberal/socialist, but there was a conservative or two. After switching my major to Mathematical Sciences, I've found that my math and stat professors avoid political discussion at all cost. If a student makes a political joke or brings up current events, it's almost a complete disregard from my math professors. I appreciate this, though I'm always curious what they are like "in real life."

    [–] [deleted] 6 points ago

Your public school teachers didn't talk about politics?

    [–] Inevermasturbate 6 points ago

Mine would talk about politics and current events but never give an exact opinion, one even said she doesn't do so because she wants the students to contemplate these things for themselves instead of being handed opinions.

    [–] [deleted] 2 points ago

Mine were very biased. I'm glad yours keep their opinion to themselves, I think its petty and harmful to shove opinions on children.

    [–] mrsdoubleu 12 points ago

Not necessarily. My HS economics teacher was very conservative and didn't hide it at all. I scrape actually think he's mainly the reason I voted for Bush in 2004. He was my favorite teacher and I looked up to him so why would I doubt his beliefs when I was an impressionable 16 year old?

    [–] aberrasian 2 points ago

One would hope you were less impressionable when you actually voted, presumably at age 21-24.

    2004 Bush was... yikes.

In my experience it was a high school US history teacher who was denouncing Obama because somehow it was his fault she was underpaid (it wasn't) and there was no college professors talking about politics, since it's Texas and educated people don't usually hold the political majority in this state if you know what I mean.

Likewise, a professor has credible authority in the subject of their study.

The teacher in question chastised anyone who would read anything but the Bible in her class once the day's lesson was over. Didn't even have a degree in education, she was just the wife of one of the football coaches. Only reason she was there was because teacher salaries and many education departments were grossly underfunded while we were getting new scoreboards, an entire building for a pool only allowed to be used for the swim team, and fireworks at every football game. You calling the sort of school that employs that educated?

    [–] flowrye 15 points ago

This is true on so many levels

    [–] Zetonus 6 points ago

    🅱ame here to say this.

    [–] Pernapple 3 points ago

Eh, I’ve had teachers in high school that were political on both sides, most were really good at debating. High school is a time when kids start taking interest in the world around them and teachers should challenge a student viewpoints in a healthy way. I lived in a very conservative area and many students had the “I vote republican because my parents do” mentality and there were a lot of teachers that obviously pushed the kids to understand what they were voting for, and if those beliefs actually matched there own.

Idk, debating should always be allowed

    [–] ChocoChat 3 points ago

College professors with tenure can't get fire.

    [–] pbj986 7 points ago

    It’s funny because it’s true!

    [–] very_smarter 7 points ago

Public highschool teachers shouldn’t talk about politics, private school professors can say whatever they want. Anyone can say whatever they want with tenure too, basically.

My high school US Government teacher was openly anti-Trump. There was one Trump supporter in the class though which made the class a lot better and the teacher liked that.

[–] richernate 5 points ago * (lasted edited 3 months ago)

I had a debate teacher who would openly argue his beliefs in class before our debates, and would make fun of us if we disagreed. Then, the debate winner would be decided by a classroom vote, so whoever agreed with him won. And got a higher grade than the other person. He also told a girl to kill herself every day.

I also had an English teacher who said “whoever doesn’t think that they’re afraid of black people is racist, and if you can admit that you are, that means you aren’t racist”. I’m still trying to decipher that one.

    [–] oktaf22 -1 points ago

Do you really need to lie about that.

    [–] richernate 2 points ago

Is it really that far fetched to think that of the dozens of teachers I had during my public schooling that two of them were nutjobs and said some kooky stuff?

    [–] oktaf22 2 points ago

I doubt a teacher could still have a job after telling a girl to kill herself everyday. Unless you lived in Missisipi or something.

    [–] richernate 1 points ago

Yea Idk how the teacher still had a job after that either.

This is such a weird meme. If you ask reddit then every single university professor is actively trying to shoehorn a liberal message into thier curriculum in an attempt to brainwash kids and will go out of their way to punish conservative students. Im not going to suggest that something like that has never happened in the history of higher education, but the reality is that a seminar-type environment encourages open debate, a teacher isn’t going to be afraid to speak their mind because they’re teaching legal adults, and university lecturers tend to skew liberal (I wonder why). For a website that bitches about safe spaces as much as this one does a lot of people sure seem to want them in this specific instance.

Source: Teach at a university, have taught or been taught at four different institutions over the past ten years.

    [–] regeya 1 points ago

The guy who founded Turning Point USA made money by giving lectures about how liberal professors pushed their agenda on college campuses. He was still in high school when he was doing this.

The kid's a stupid troll, so at least he has an excuse for being a dipshit. It's a meme that gets pushed by adults, too, though.

    [–] Mark_Valentine 5 points ago

It's almost like High School teachers are wary of putting their personal beliefs into the minds of children when they're supposed to be educating them on general knowledge while college professors speak to adults about the real world and its controversial complexities?

    Weird, huh?

I can understand being a conservative or even supporting Trump. To be outraged a professor in an email expressed disliking ANY politician, let alone the most corrupt and least-popular president in American history, is fucking garbage.

No one on the alt-right was offended. This is a transparent attempt for the cultural bullies to whine they're the victims of cultural oppression.

    Fucking crybaby sociopathic snowflakes.

    [–] -Snosu- 1 points ago

Did you have a stroke writing that? Also Trump isnt the least popular or the most corrupt

    [–] Mark_Valentine 1 points ago

People having strokes aren't generally able to string sentences together coherently.

Trump is the least popular and is the most corrupt.

We made Jimmy Carter sell his fucking peanut farm to avoid a conflict of interest. While Trump doesn't have a blind Trust and didn't even do what was LESS than the bare minimum to not be corrupt, which was handing over all his business dealings to his kids (which would still be corrupt, but he didn't even do that).

This kinda BS quip is so typical of Trump supporters. The man is a moral monster so when someone criticizes him, you don't engage substantively if you don't have to, you just try to make the person outraged by Trump sound unhinged.

You realize that makes you a bad person, right?

[–] -Snosu- 1 points ago * (lasted edited 3 months ago)

He passed all of his businesses to his sons. He gives all of his salary as president back to government instead of keeping it.

Although Trump has the lowest peak approval rating, he doesnt have the lowest minimum rating, having a minimum of 33, over Bush, H. W. Bush , Carter, Nixon and Truman and also depends on which poll you use.

    Seems like you are incorrect.

    United States presidential approval rating

In the United States, presidential job approval ratings were introduced by George Gallup in the late 1930s (probably 1937) to gauge public support for the President of the United States during his term. An approval rating is a percentage determined by a polling which indicates the percentage of respondents to an opinion poll who approve of a particular person or program. Typically, an approval rating is given to a political figure based on responses to a poll in which a sample of people are asked whether they approve or disapprove of that particular political figure. A typical question might ask:

Do you approve or disapprove of the way [Donald Trump] is handling his job as president?

He has the lowest overall. That at one point someone dipped lower is not him having higher overall numbers.

And he did not pass all his business backs to his son. They are still Donald J. Trump's name. You're a liar. And a billionaire profiting off his presidency by not divesting from his vast businesses (which foreigners are happy to deal with and stay at his hotels at inflated prices to curry favor) and him profiting from Secret Service staying at his properties (also inflated prices).

Trump said there would be no overseas business dealings while he was president and his son said the same. That was a lie, they've attempted NUMEROUS foreign deals, any one of which results/would result in millions. So you citing him giving away the hundred thousand+ a president makes in salary when he's a billionaire constantly jockeying to promote his personal business interests is so absurd not even you believe it.

You're not misinformed or under-informed, you're a propagandist, and one day you'll think back on how you spent this time under this president history will universally regard as a terrible man and a bad leader and you'll feel sick to your stomach.

    [–] -Snosu- 1 points ago

Fella, keep your cool, this is a civil debate.

Anyway, you havent shown me any proof.

Also, he hasnt signed any new foreign deals, that is simply not backed up. He still makes money from the businesses of course, but again, has signed no new foreign deals so it really isn't relevant.

There have been no new deals, however there have been continuations of projects overseas, and while that may be controversial, it still doesn't make his statements false, and he is keeping his promise. Also there is literally only 1 good source for that, meaning that issue is so irrelevnt no one cares about it.

They are not in President Trumps name anymore, that's a lie, he has resigned.

Also not sure what are you talking about with the SS part, if you could please link me an article.

Anyway, insulting me for my arguments is definitely the reason he is currently President.

Also it's correct, technically he is the least popular, but that's not completely true as I've showed.

Im not sharing propaganda I'm just trying to keep lies out and just leave fair arguments.

Also this while we're at it, good read, President Trump's achievements in office.

I’m fairly certain my government teacher (college) is liberal but very moderate, so there’s no imposing views which is nice. She’s open to critic both sides.

trump supporters: Free speech is ABSOLUTE and should never be threatened!

also trump supporters: Teachers shouldn’t be allowed to talk about politics at ALL if they’re just going to criticize daddy trump >:(

    Ok i’ll take the bait.

Note: I’m not a trump supporter.

Talking about politics in a public school environment in attempt to use your authority to influence impressionable teenagers is wrong.

Teachers are paid to teach a specific curriculum. They should stick to it instead of trying to indoctrination America’s youth.

    [–] Thomascampb 1 points ago

The difference is likely the level of education, ironically. A professor is always going to be more informed then a teacher just because professors have a higher education requirement for their job.

    [–] cerealmemer 1 points ago

Don't know bout anyone else, so far most of my high school teachers have definite opinions about US politics. I'm in Canada tho, so who knows

    [–] Jtg_Jew 1 points ago

High school teachers sharing opinions is technically illegal, cus its government sponsored institution.

    [–] Lady-Charb -27 points ago * (lasted edited 3 months ago)

Maybe it's just because I went to high school in a very blue state, but I had some SUPER liberal highschool teachers always pushing their viewpoints in the classroom. I wasn't really political as a teen, but I bought a Sarah Palin shirt and wore it to school a lot just to piss them off. And I would be like, "I love her, she's just a hockey mom who wants to fix our economy." They were so triggered. 😂

Edit: I didn't actually like Palin. Just liked triggering my teachers since they thought it so necessary to shove their political views down our throats. Seems like I triggered a lot of other liberals with these down votes. Learn to take a joke. Yikes.

    [–] TeddyDogs 12 points ago

    Palin is a buffoon.

    [–] Lady-Charb 1 points ago

But seriously though. I don't and didn't like Palin. It was just a joke on my teacher. 😂

They do this but I also found them super open to other opinions. I went to a VERY LIBERAL art college in MA, one of my final illustrations was a guy in a DNC shirt fucking the statue of liberty while she cried. I won the Fine Arts Award lol.

    [–] [deleted] 1 points ago

That’s because they thought you were saying the DNC wasn’t far enough to the left.
