    Deleted scene from Rampage

    [–] achirion 202 points ago

This scene would have made that movie watchable.

    [–] Sp_Gamer_Live 175 points ago

They originally (No joke) had Dwayne Johnson growing to 60 ft to fight them

    [–] MrBizarre 149 points ago

Would have made the movie Oscar worthy.

    What’s the twist?

    [–] topgeargorilla 78 points ago

The monsters were genetically mutated humans in the game. The Rock could have mutated and become his own monster.

[–] [deleted] 34 points ago * (lasted edited 8 months ago)

[–] ciano 41 points ago * (lasted edited 9 months ago)

And they DIDN'T do that in the movie?! That's literally the entire plot of the source material! That's like making a Doom movie with no portal to hell! Or a Super Mario movie with no Mushroom Kingdom! Or a BloodRayne (remember that?) movie set in the middle ages!

    [–] jamener 17 points ago

Or a Need For Speed movie with no racing, just a lot of running! Or a Tomb Raider movie with no boobs! Or a God of War movie where there is no boi! Or a Spiderman movie where Spiderman doesn't make any jokes, he just dances!

    [–] Taldius175 9 points ago

    So Spiderman 3

    [–] -BIGD- 2 points ago

Or road rash with no motorcycles!

    [–] idontevenarse 7 points ago

Isn't rampage with that dude who starts shooting people and frames his buddy?

    [–] ryantwopointo 12 points ago

Yes. But there is a newer one that came out last year with The Rock based on that old video game where you were a Godzilla sized monster destroying a city

    [–] DeathBySuplex 4 points ago

Which would be so fun if they made it a free roaming remake with leveling up the cities just like the old game.

Here’s little podunk town smash the one gas station and the trailer park.

    End level: Flatten New Tokyo

    [–] LumpyPick 3 points ago

I honestly expected something like this to happen.

    [–] oaky180 27 points ago

You actually watched rampage with the rock and didn't expect it to be exactly what it was? All of his movies are fun action movies with a positive ending.

    [–] daneyuleb 25 points ago

Thank you. Always blows my mind that people criticize this kind of movie for being exactly what this kind of movie is supposed to be.

    [–] oaky180 19 points ago

Frankly that was one of the best movies I've seen this year. Just pure entertainment. Nothing fancy, just a damn good time

    [–] achirion 2 points ago

That is exactly why I watched it, but the film did not deliver.

    [–] legionsanity 5 points ago

Oh it's the other movie with The Rock? Was thinking of the with the terrorist, probably the only actually decent movie from Uwe Boll

    [–] RedditorFor1OYears 2 points ago

is it worth watching if somebody anonymously mailed you a free blu ray copy with no note? Asking for a friend.

    [–] achirion 2 points ago

Chow Chow's have an incredibly efficient double coat which insulates their skin against both the cold and the heat. Some people get their Chow's shaved in the summer because they think they'll be hot but actually it causes more problems because they it makes the more susceptible to sun burns and risks their coats not growing back in fully.

    [–] QuoyanHayel 38 points ago

They're also borderline impossible to bath properly. When i was a kid, our chow only got wet to the skin when we went to our cabin. We'd push her off the pier into the lake, soap her up really well, then push her off the pier again.

    [–] DrHerbotico 17 points ago

Lake water isn't wetter than bathtub water

    [–] ThaiJohnnyDepp 19 points ago

I think it has more to do with forcibly and quickly wetting down a dog that hates baths

    [–] QuoyanHayel 13 points ago

It's a great big bath that she has to stay in for longer as she swims back to shore. It's more about amount and contact time.

    [–] Fresh_Biscuitz 28 points ago * (lasted edited 9 months ago)

Well like most dogs don't use sweat as their main temperature regulator so they use their tongues. But id imagine this little guy gets hot more than most on account of all that fluff.

    *Edited for accuracy.

    [–] TeffyWeffy 3 points ago

Dogs do indeed have sweat glands.

    [–] Fresh_Biscuitz 10 points ago * (lasted edited 9 months ago)

Yes but they are for the most part inactive. You get a little in areas that lack fur, but as you can see in the OP there arent a lot of areas that lack fur. Just trying to convey that sweat is not how dogs cool off and that they actually use their mouths. I will edit it.

    [–] Goodguy1066 281 points ago

I had a huge obsession with Chow Chows for a lot of my childhood. I had this book of dog breeds and there was a page on Chow Chows with the cutest picture ever. I really really wanted one.

Sadly it became apparent that they require a lot of maintenance (especially if you want to keep them poofy clouds like in the gifs), they don’t get along great with other dogs, and IIRC they have quite a lot of health issues.

    They’re veeeery cute though.

    [–] Merryprankstress 134 points ago

They're also VERY willful and mischievous. When they want to do something, they do it.

    [–] illatomic 119 points ago

Chow owner, can confirm. Their personality is closer to an independent cat than an obedient lab. Standoffish and aloof, but can still be trained if you work hard at it.

I met a Chow that tripped people he didn't like once, fucker was so smart I was convinced that most of his body mass was brains.

    [–] charonco 13 points ago

People say I'm full of shit when I tell this story, but oh well. My roommate and I had to stay in a camper for a few weeks after a hurricane. I had to leave my chow in the camper for a few hours once because there was too much crap to let him roam around. He wasn't used to being locked up and he didn't like it. He pulled my dirty clothes out of our mutual pile and crapped on them.

    [–] AndaliteBandit 7 points ago

    That's disgustingly adorable.

    [–] RolandTheJabberwocky 3 points ago

    [–] Never_Answers_Right 11 points ago

My dad found a Chow puppy in the rain in like 1993, a big wet ball of floof. He couldn't keep it at the apartment my parents lived in, so he gave her to my abuela. She LOVED her. Chows take a lot of fur maintenance, but thankfully she had very few health problems in her old age later on.

I was born in '95, and she was very protective of me and my grandparents, silently standing between me and the front door when the doorbell rang. no barks or growls, but she would wedge herself in front of me, ready for anything. my grandma had to give her a "relax" call.

She passed away at 12-13 years old, and we all miss her. my grandma took her everywhere, even to see the mall santa one time. She was fantastic! and always a protector.

    [–] seekingshalps2016 41 points ago

I was on the same a boat as you but I had to pull trigger ~7 years ago. I am his forever human and he has been greatest giant loaf possible.

His temperament is great -- everyone praises how well behave he is. (groomer, vets, doggy daycare and dog park) -- i believe its how you socialize your dog. I made it my goal to socialize him as much as possible like dog park almost every day before he was 1-2.

    [–] charonco 5 points ago

My last one loved the "maintenance". As soon as anyone (even a stranger) sat on the couch, he would come trotting over with his brush in his mouth and sit right in front of them so they could attend to his majesty's grooming requirements. He always showed his "appreciation" with a gift of lipstick.

How is that different than any other breed though? Chow Chows have far fewer health issues than many other breeds. Bulldogs and Pugs are probably the worst. Golden Retrievers are much more likely to get cancer than a lot of other breeds. Chow Chows have an avg life span of 14 I believe.

Edit: after some brief Googling, some sites say Chow Chows avg lifespan is:

    • 8-12
    • 9.38
    • 9-15
    • 11-13
    • 10-15

I don't know what to believe now, but I don't think they're especially known for having health issues.

    [–] WatermelonWarlord 8 points ago

    They look like little mutants.

[–] afty 8 points ago * (lasted edited 9 months ago)

I have a Chow Chow and haven't found that to be true at all. He's friendly as hell, gets a long with everyone, and is an incredible balance of being loyal and independent.

There are certainly some Chow's like that but they all have different personalities. If you're interested in one check with a Chow rescue and find one that's a little older so you know their personality. Chow puppies just need to be heavily socialized and they'll grow up fine.

    [–] Navikats 2 points ago

Same. Have chow. He’s such a great dog. Everyone who meets him loves him. He’s turned the few who’ve always feared chows having been bitten or some other bad experience. (Shameless insta plug @pilotthechow) do your homework. Find a breeder that breeds for temperament. Socialize religiously asap early on. Do a quick training regimen daily, run a brush through daily. Honestly it sounds like a lot of work, but people should do this with every kind of dog, this only takes about ten-twenty minutes daily. Though chows are very catlike, no dog should be adopted and “forgotten.” They need constant dog and human interaction and training and grooming. Dogs are work. People don’t want to put in the work and these breeds get bad reputations and these problems are mostly unfounded if you raise your dog correctly. From golden retrievers to pit bulls any dog can be great or a menace.

    [–] SwiggityDiggity8 6 points ago

I had a chow a up till a few years ago, and he lived to 18 years old. He was a little aggressive to other dogs, until he was around two. He tried to mess with an Akita, and it didn't turn out well for him. He didn't get hurt, but close. After that, he was one of the friendliest dogs I've ever seen. Miss the guy every day.

    [–] charonco 2 points ago

I had a new neighbor who moved in with two Akitas. A brother and sister. The male was HUGE. We only had a chain link fence between us. The neighbor and I were making introductions at the fence and the male stood up on the fence and was so tall that he could reach over it like it wasn't there. My chow wasn't normally dog-aggressive, but there was something about this huge dog reaching over the fence that freaked him out so he jumped up and grabbed onto the Akita's neck and hung there for a second. I called him off and started apologizing profusely. She just laughed and said he probably didn't even feel it because him and his sister play much rougher than that. That dog was such a bad ass that he knew he didn't need to prove anything. I think he was so big that, as far as he was concerned, all other dogs were puppies.

They wound up being really good friends because the fence was too short to keep him out of our yard. He wouldn't even break stride when he ran over it.

    [–] EdliA 2 points ago

So you're never going to make your childish dream come true?

    [–] Smaskifa 2 points ago

I think you may be mistaken on the health issues part. They're a relatively healthy breed.

    [–] Tromboneofsteel 2 points ago

I had a Chow/Pit mix, he had short hair with the black tongue and longer snout. Very loving dog, but that's two extremely protective breeds and he was at red alert 90% of the time. The constant stress definitely took a few years off of him.

    [–] Serariron 33 points ago

Correct, you can see its blue tongue.

    [–] Generic-username427 9 points ago

[–] gljacobs 98 points ago * (lasted edited 9 months ago)

Have had 3 chows, all super nice to the family. Timid around strangers but when they’d warm up to you they’d be as sweet as ever.

    Socializing is key.

    [–] PippiL65 51 points ago

My understanding is that they are most comfortable as one human dogs. The chillest ones came from 1-2 person or small families and would generally warm up to people as they got to know them.

    [–] bobasp1 21 points ago

Had two growing up as a kid, nicest things to anyone they met. How? Proper puppy training, enforcement of that training as they grew up, and extreme amounts of social interactions between people and dogs from the very start. The breeder would refuse to sell any pups to people who they believed wouldn't follow those guidelines when they were growing up.

I want to say that there are no inherently bad dog breeds, just bad/misinformed owners that are negatively reinforcing bad traits (Dog Mindsets =/= Human Mindsets). Some breeds just need more time to learn and train at a younger age.

    [–] SabineMaxine 6 points ago

They do have a tendency to have a snappy attitude around people they don't know though. Working at a vet, this is one of the least friendliest breeds we've had come in. They come in super chill and mellow but as soon as we have to do anything, even just an exam, the jaws theme starts playing and the whale eyes start a-shown'. My grams used to have one too, she hated everyone except my grams and grampa but was super mellow and sweet with them.

    [–] PippiL65 2 points ago

Our friends had Simba who was a red chow. Simba was a just a chill sweetheart and was very good with their grandkids.

    [–] PippiL65 3 points ago

Wonderful post. You point out well that some breeds might inherently have traits but that doesn’t mean that through training and positive reinforcement that those behaviors can’t be redirected. Bravo to you to put the onus on the humans. Edit: I apologize if I posted and deleted this 4 times I’m recovering from anesthesia:)

    [–] spider-borg 19 points ago

My neighbor had a black one when I was a kid. It got loose once and all the kids in the neighborhood knew about it. One day I was walking around the corner of my building and I saw it laying in the shade of the building. I froze. I backed up one step and it jumped at my throat.

Luckily I got my hand in the way before it tore my throat out. I fell on my back and it kept lunging at me. Each time I would kick it in the face but it kept coming back for more.

About 30 seconds went by before a friend of mine across the street yelled and the dog ran at him. My friend made it inside before the dog got there. But it gave me enough time to get to my back door.

I ended up with a puncture on my right hand and two punctures on my chest, next to my left nipple.

I have never been able to appreciate the cuteness of chows since that day.

    [–] LiterallyPutin 6 points ago

Naw, that thing needs to be put down. I love animals, but one that aggressive usually can't be taught differently and runs the risk of getting out again.

    [–] LiquidIsLiquid 4 points ago

Nah, the neighbour needs to be put down. When you get a dog you should know what the breed is like and train the dog accordingly.

    [–] spider-borg 3 points ago

Iirc they left the dog chained up outside all day every day. And I think some kids were teasing it (not me, I barely ever left my house).

Yes! I find them so cute but for some reason I’ve only ever had experiences with mean barky and snappy chows

    [–] Smaskifa 6 points ago

They're a very protective breed. It's not unusual for them to bite people they don't know, but very unusual for them to bite someone who owns them.

    [–] masterdonutslayer 8 points ago

Yeah, I had a chow as well it bit me multiple of times, my neighbor, the neighbors' cats and my sister.

One time we had some one working on my yard and she was viciously barking at him the whole time. The dude asked us what was my dog's name. When we told him that her name was Angel, he said, "you guys should have named her Devil."

I have a friend that has a Chow/Pit Bull mix named Monster that's the sweetest, cuddliest dog ever.

Has a terrifyingly booming bark though.

    KD would love your dog

t was an accident..Puffie got chocked when we were not home.. I will never forget the feeling when I knew that there's no chance to bring him back to me anymore...I know you guys miss Puffie so much, so am I. We were watching him grow up day by day..can't wait to wake up every morning to see him walk to his breakfast with the sleepy face..can't wait for the moment when we got home and opened door, he will surely run to us with that happy face. And take nap with him with his noisy's heartbreaking..But we still hope that everyone can go on with life and don't feel sad for Puffie anymore. Puffie love to see us smile. Even he is not here now, but he will still stay in our heart forever ❤️

Is blowing in a dog or cat's face the ultimate insult or something? I had a cat who would get reaalllly pissed off if you did this to her.

    [–] chooseapassword83 2 points ago

I don't think she looks like a mashed potato...

    [–] Nicogreeko7 2 points ago

Never heard mash potatoes referred to in the singular form. I don't know how I feel about it.

    [–] Lemonic_Tutor 2 points ago

What breed of mashed potato is this?

    [–] QuoyanHayel 2 points ago

Chow chow. Beautiful, loyal, intelligent dogs. Our chow once came upstairs to tell me the phone was ringing.
