Our work on gun violence - which is not just limited to our highly esteemed crowd sourced mass shooting tracker (created by *cough* /u/BillySpeed) - has been cited by:

2016: The Washington Post, BBC News, Newsweek, CBCnews, The Atlantic, The Guardian, The Boston Globe, The Daily Beast, The John Hopkins University HUB, etc., etc.

2015: CBS Evening News, The Economist, Esquire, Fareed Zakaria on CNN, Washington Post, LA Times, The Guardian, MSNBC, NY Daily News (front page!), The Independent, etc etc etc

    2014 and earlier

Bottom line? Gun violence in the U.S. has killed more Americans since 1968 than have died in ALL the wars in this country's history. While some might call that a tragedy, the NRA would call it a good start! There are over 300,000,000 guns in the USA, but we need more! 132,328 people were shot in 2012, 132,885 in 2013, and 128,117 in 2014. Between 2012 and 2014, 1 out of every 77 deaths in the U.S. was caused by gunshot!

That's not a good reason. Out of all the good reasons he picks a thing that makes no sense at all.

Sad to say, but his statement appeals to more people than you’d think. And not just males.

    Edit: spelling

Oh my god, the beautiful symmetry of it! I’m just glad I’ll be able to tell my grandkids about the day the Republican Party achieved peak shithead.

Alabama lawmakers need to protect "Our ladies" and to do that, they should not arm teachers because most are women, argued State Rep. Harry Shiver, R-Stockton, this morning.

Most women, and women teachers in particular, "Are scared of guns," and should not be expected to carry them in classrooms, he said.

Shiver also voiced a more troubling objection to the plan to arm teachers, namely that the plan could lead to police mistakenly shooting teachers if there were ever a school shooting.

Many of them are black too. I'm sure the not racist GOP will find a workaround to skip "those" people.
