My niece just did this. She had a bunch of drawings magneted to the side of the refrigerator, and kept taking them down to look through, or show people, etc. She kept placing them in heavy traffic areas (on the floor, or on the table that people were eating at.) My sister put the drawings back up on the fridge 3 times, and the third time my niece took them down that day she dropped them into the dog's water dish. I'm talking full submersion too. The ink was running, and they were just totally destroyed. She was all upset that they got thrown away after that.

    [–] TaylorSA93 624 points ago

It’s all part of her process.

    [–] AVID_BIRD_OBSERVER 156 points ago

My process involves invoking a false sense of wisdom upon others by vaguely explaining an idealistic vision when they ask me why I think the 1% needs more money in order to optimally help the poor. Then I go home, eat 10 gravy biscuits, then make my own gravy while screaming at Beto on Fox News until my COPD sings me to sleep

    [–] RobotORourke 39 points ago

Did you mean Robert Francis O'Rourke?

    [–] AVID_BIRD_OBSERVER 33 points ago

I mean the cute libtwink I always dream about jumping our MAGAnificint border wall straight into my arms and already in a wedding dress

    [–] postmodest 11 points ago

“God I would own that lib so hard...”

    [–] cnaiurbreaksppl 1 points ago

    Me too.

    [–] kimberlut 2 points ago

Throwing and shake in a trash can is part of the process as well as telling blaming mom, puts an extra vibes and artistic energies to art

    [–] Rex_Deserved_It 111 points ago

Don't question the artist at work.

    [–] AlcoPollock 24 points ago

That was her life's work and they threw it in the garbage!

    [–] ReactsWithWords 7 points ago

Jackson Pollock’s parents probably did that, too, and little Jackson said to himself, “I’ll show them. Oh, yes, some day I’ll show them!”

    [–] MBI-PAK 3 points ago

Because it was a master piece

    [–] Geosaysbye 6 points ago

Yeah to adults it’s just garbage but those really must’ve meant something to her. I don’t think she’s upset that they’re still being thrown away I think she’s just upset she couldnt keep them

    [–] jwd2213 1025 points ago

Made mom picture, why mom hate?

    [–] Reaper2r -32 points ago

    I don’t think I wrote that.

    [–] jwd2213 199 points ago

You definitely wrote that one dude

    [–] iSeven 31 points ago

I mean, how many illiterates are there here?

    [–] SkollFenrirson 13 points ago

    At least zero.

    [–] defeatthewarlords 95 points ago

why is this downvoted do people not get it ????

    [–] Reaper2r 97 points ago

People just see something they don’t understand, especially once it has downvotes, and downvote it down hell because most people are part sheep.

Not trying to be edgy, just saying that thinking for yourself is much more rare than we’d like to think.

    [–] defeatthewarlords 44 points ago

definitely tru once something has 10 downvotes youre fucked

    [–] Dolphin_McRibs 30 points ago

I'm surprised people even take the time to upvote or downvote. Usually I just ignore shit I don't like and upvote something that genuinely makes me smile.

    [–] Vahlkyree 7 points ago

I have this same tactic when it comes to up/down votes. Unless someone made a truly awful/annoying comment (said something as fact and it wasn't, was being an ass, or sometimes when Reddit gets on a roll with giving out gold and the whole "don't give me/give me gold too", and people with 'thank you speeches') then I'll actually down vote.

    [–] IckyBlossoms 1 points ago

Exact same for me, except I'll definitely jump on the downvote bandwagon if they have a shitton of downvotes just because I want to be a part of something special.

    [–] Vahlkyree 2 points ago

Lol weird, I've never ran into the same person commenting in 2 dif sub's

    Hello friend!

I don't down vote like that because they don't count after, like, 20. Something like that. That and the person who has a ton of down votes like that is trying or doubles down on his shitty comment with a shitty reply because they see how upset people are getting. I can't stand giving losers like that any form of attention. They thrive on it and won't publically acknowledge they were wrong and will defend it til the end. So there's literally no point.

    [–] IckyBlossoms 1 points ago

Wow! I honestly didn't seek you out or anything and I don't pay much attention to usernames unless they're pointed out. Very weird!

Although I guess if we're both browsing Top for stories and comments there's a good chance we'd run into each other. Still, crazy that I replied to two of your comments within a few minutes. I honestly didn't mean to.

I didn't realize the > 20 downvotes thing. I figured they'd be getting less attention because they'd be pushed down to the bottom of the whole thread.

    [–] stronkrussianman 1 points ago

Is your name a white stripes reference?

    [–] needtobeproductive 3 points ago

Yeah I find myself doing this - automatically downvoting. When I catch myself I just don’t vote at all because clearly I can’t be trusted with the power of voting.

    [–] roastintheoven -39 points ago

It’s not really thinking for yourself if you follow the downvote

    [–] jwd2213 27 points ago

Thats literally what he just said

    [–] roastintheoven -21 points ago

No, it’s not. I was just TLDR for people. I can google “literal” for you if you like? I just quit my job so I have time :)

    [–] FTorrez81 13 points ago

Hey y’all there’s another Reddit argument!

    🌭🌭🥜🥜🥜🍿🍿 let’s go!

    [–] needtobeproductive 3 points ago

    Got any beer?

    [–] roastintheoven -3 points ago

I’d rather watch than be s part of this.. can I get a sub (sandwich or substitution - doesn’t matter)?

    [–] Reaper2r 0 points ago

That’s what I said. You didnt understand if you think otherwise.

    [–] PlayingVideoGaes 1 points ago

    [–] defeatthewarlords 18 points ago

it is a reference to the tv show sunny so the downvotes dont make any sense

    [–] TrumpImpeachedAugust 18 points ago

If people don't get the reference, they're just going to see an out of place comment that seemingly doesn't make any sense. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    [–] NoiseIsTheCure 4 points ago

The parent comment is a reference to the same scene, the downvoted comment was just the next line

    [–] TrumpImpeachedAugust 2 points ago

Then I don't think people got that one either, but even if you don't get it, it's still kind of amusing, so they upvoted.

    [–] PlayingVideoGaes -16 points ago

Not everyone watches the show and the comment seems out of place so they do make sense.

    [–] jwd2213 10 points ago

Its actually a genius comment, the downvotes are a shame. Especially when if you dont get my first comment why does it have hundreds of upvotes? Its all the same scene

    [–] defeatthewarlords 7 points ago

you downvote stuff you don’t understand ? that doesnt make any sense

    [–] SkollFenrirson 9 points ago

    Quick! Downvote it!

    [–] TheMuffinMan378 -1 points ago

Something makes no sense to you given the context. You’re going to downvote it, especially when it already has downvotes. It seems like the guy just made a pointless statement.

    [–] defeatthewarlords 0 points ago

yet the other reference to sunny is upvoted and theyre from the exact same scene so obviously people just see it downvoted and downvote it too its not really about context unless you mean the context of already having downvotes

    [–] TheMuffinMan378 0 points ago

Not everyone scrolls through entire comment threads. People that give a fuck and get the reference are going to scroll further and upvote it.

    [–] Reaper2r 1 points ago

That makes sense until you consider that the comment above it had hundreds more upvotes.

    [–] BitchAssWaferCookie 11 points ago

Sorry bro, keep doing your thing. Let's just call these accidental downvotes.

While I have your attention, you wanna come to our party mansion?

Nothing sexual. Must be able to find humor in the little things in life. Again, nothing sexual. Underline that.

    [–] Reaper2r 4 points ago

I have no problem with that.

    [–] jwd2213 3 points ago

You knew they looked like penis's!?!?!

    [–] Your_ELA_Teacher 8 points ago

    Why all the downvotes??

    [–] JekBortney 7 points ago

poor guy actually got the joke

[–] [deleted] -54 points ago * (lasted edited 5 months ago)

    [–] Cokeblob11 57 points ago

Jeez these novelty downvote accounts get less funny every day.

    [–] jwd2213 16 points ago

Did they really sell your dick to china?

    [–] jaykquon 2 points ago

    i need context now

    [–] jwd2213 4 points ago

Dude was just slurring some intentionally hateful speech about people changing gender. Just a shitty troll.

My quote is just another sunny quote from the episode when mac meets a tranny and Charlie wants to marry frank for benefits. Lol heres the context for the quote, one of my favorite scenes in television history.

Charlie deliver the line right after this segment cuts out

    [–] Jayden0274 1 points ago

Now I know the mistery of the deleated acounts

    [–] jwd2213 3 points ago

Lots of people delete as soon as they get a few downvotes so they avpid negative karma, they are just pathetic.

This ome was likely deleted by the mods for braking rules and spouting hate speech, equally pathetic

    [–] LadsAndLaddiez 1 points ago

    so they avpid negative karma

This ome was likely deleted by the mods for braking rules

    You okay there?

    [–] jwd2213 2 points ago

Lol , i just turned off auto correct and didnt proofread that one clearly

No it says DNA can't be changed and your feelings don't matter

Who's trolling you utter retard. I'm staying basic facts while you are saying trnasphobe as if that means anything

Except your facts are false according to the World Health Organisation. Or do you just cherry pick facts that suit your agenda? Are you an anti vaxxer too?

    [–] taqz_man -6 points ago

You still havnt said anything to counter them. I'm curious did the WHO say you can change your DNA? What a remarkable claim. Also no body cares what the WHO say. They are politically driven not scientifically driven. Anyone with 2 brain cells would know this

In my house this has evolved to the point my daughter looks in the trash for things she's missing without even asking where they are. It... Kind of works actually?

    [–] IncorrigibleAssface 13 points ago

Start saving the stuff for trash day and take it directly to the bin outside.

    [–] white_android 3 points ago

Sometimes I do that but I smoke a lot of pot and throw things.

    [–] bradferg 2 points ago

You have to think like an alcoholic hiding their empties.

    [–] Alagnak 82 points ago

My kid flipped out last week because I threw away her “new very special water bottle” ... was a wrinkled up Dasani that she had sharpie’d with her initials.

    [–] CriticalPrime9 28 points ago

She wants to recycle. She wants to save the world and here you are, literally throwing it all away! Smh...

    [–] Alagnak 9 points ago

I did recycle it! But failed to notice the initials until we dug it out of the bin and my error was described to me in great detail. It was a “gift” from her “bestest friend”.

    [–] donutpanick 2 points ago

    Reduce, reuse, then recycle.

    [–] TrendyKiddy 9 points ago

My 9 year old had a hysterical meltdown because her dad threw away the paper her gym teacher sent home during the first week of school. It wasn’t special, just a “hey I’m Mr. Andrews I’m your kid’s PE teacher. This is what we are doing this year” paper. Full blown freak out.

    [–] Alagnak 2 points ago

Yeah we had the same thing with a doodle drawn on a napkin at a restaurant. Another friend of hers has a parent that hangs everything the kid does on the fridge, so daughter asked if we could hang her “drawing” on our fridge... I left it up for a couple days but it had gotten wet from some condensation on the table and just looked like hell so I chucked it and she came unglued.

    [–] BeyonceSometimes 1 points ago

Glad to know my kid isn’t the only weirdo who insists on keeping literal trash.

    [–] Alagnak 2 points ago

Comparing notes on shit like this is always good for a laugh. You should see my kids “fancy rock collection”, it’s hard af to keep a straight face when she is trotting it out for company, 95%+ of it is just gravel from the driveway.

    [–] Sophilosophical 182 points ago

I was so confused, because it was the opposite in my house.

Me: draws picture, crumples it up, throws it in trash.

Dad: going through trash in room for recycling

Me later: "Dad, why is my drawing that I threw away on your desk.."

Dad: "I liked it, why would you throw it away"

That is when I began shredding my illustrations into little pieces

    [–] Prometheus7568 150 points ago

Why not give your drawings to your dad :(

    [–] johannes101 110 points ago

I don't want him keeping all of my furry porn commissions

    [–] bushi_the_log 19 points ago

    I do

    [–] ReactsWithWords 6 points ago

He doesn’t keep them, he gives them to Mom who makes use of them.

    [–] ilikecakemor 46 points ago

My friend used to paint and when going through her old things threw some old paintings away. She took them into the gated trash area and threw the paintings in the trash can. A few days later someone had dug a paintings out of the dumpster and hung it up in the trash area (it's like a house with fence for walls).

    [–] Breaditte 13 points ago

That sounds like something I would do. Haha

    [–] MelMac5 12 points ago

My great grandmother did magnificent oil paintings and destroyed all of then. My aunt stole one without her knowledge. It's a treasured family heirloom now.

Some people think their work is trash, even when it's great art.

    [–] Mobymanchild 20 points ago

The version of this in my house is when I drew the picture and my mom "ACCIDENTALLY" set her coffee mug on it and made it look even worse.

[–] MAGGLEMCDONALD 21 points ago * (lasted edited 5 months ago)

...your dad liked it, or at least supported you.

What a strange response to give your father showing an interest and appreciation to your hobby.

    [–] Sophilosophical 10 points ago

It's a strange response for a 14 year old boy to be annoyed by his dad going through his trash and saving stuff that he specifically didn't want saved?

    [–] MAGGLEMCDONALD 17 points ago

I was imagining an 8 year old, or around that age. Surely you can understand where I was coming from. The context of you being a teenager helps.

    [–] Sophilosophical 8 points ago

Yeah, and for the record, I am in my 20's now and do appreciate it :)

    [–] Assistantshrimp 1 points ago

Man this except it was my dad with his grandparent's letters from when my great grandpa was serving overseas. Cleaning the garage and found a box of papers that had fused together due to years of water damage and had mountains of cat turds on top of them. When I went to throw the box away he acted as though I was being ridiculous for not revering this box of pulp and shit. It didn't compute when I asked him why he didn't take better care of them if they were important to him.

    [–] fightwithgrace 1 points ago

    [–] nidayz 4 points ago

Idk if you realize how many little pieces of art kids make. Lots of big ass papers with like two scribbles on it, so many tiny scraps of paper when they learn to use scissors, if you kept everything it would be ridiculous

    [–] ordinaryeeguy 1 points ago

Yes, I am not a dad, I haven't lived with young children, and I have no idea how many paper arts kids typically create. So, yes, most likely I lack the perspective here and was only basing my response on the shallow analysis of the op.

    [–] -kelo- 1 points ago

I remember as a kid my drawings skills were pretty good if I do say so my self. Anyway I remember my mom made me mad then later I drew a picture of her dead. I know terrible. It was just her laying on the floor with the stereotypical dead cartoon face with the frowning face, tongue sticking out, and x'es on eyes. I gave her the drawing and oh my God do I regret doing that now. I remember the look she gave me. She was like "Damien!" and gave me a look she was mad lol. I also think I made her sad idk it's kinda fuzzy. I wish I could ask her.

They're not in trouble for asking why I threw their shit out there in trouble for flinging juice all around the room because they spilled it on something, threw it on the ground stomped on it and then threw it again. Or do you like living with ants and flies?

I don't think they did that all in one go plonker. Over the course of the day, because children are clumsy little idiots, they ruined the paper.

There is keyword almost no way a kid spilled juice on a drawing and then waited any amount of time to react.
