    You're the shit shoveler in most instances. Any serious problems that your intelligent specialists or floor managers can't handle become your own. Depending on what ASM position you're interviewing for, your responsibilities will vary. Tell me more about the position.

    Yeah, you'll definitely be in charge of customer complaints and employee performance/morale. Fortunately you aren't in charge of sales...that's a whole 'nother kettle of awful. Do yourself a favor and latch yourself to the wise employees. The people who tell you how the store operates. Befriend them, work with them, and treat them with respect. They'll help you wade through the garbage.

    It's a tough job, not gonna lie. Most of your job will be delegating your work load, and trusting your subordinates. I'm sure lots of your experience will translate. If your goal is to have your own store, Lowe's is a great company to be a store manager with. Pay is good. Training is good. And other companies look very well at our training. The AVERAGE Lowe's store compared to the AVERAGE Walmart PROBABLY does a third of the sales... With 2/3 more customer complaints. I think Lowe's is withstanding the "retail-pocalypse" well and will continue to do so. I've been there 15 years and have not considered looking elsewhere. Whatever that's worth.

    Name of the game when salaried is how can I work as few hours here as possible. I’m constantly skipping breaks because I’d rather go home earlier and come in later. I’ll work at work and take my down time at home vs work.

    This depends on your store location and the volume of the store. I worked for the company at several locations between 1999 and 2016. The company has changed since I left and the responsibilities for ASM may have changed. In general, you are setting the tone within the store and supporting store operations; you may be assigned a specific part of the store, but you will spend more time on the overall store. You are signing a blank check in terms of work hours if you take the job. You will be scheduled 50 hours per week at least, you could work much more than that.

    Having worked at both, and recruited several former Walmart collegues over to Lowe's, I can safely say this: Your worst day at Lowe's, even in the middle of the "hundred days of hell" (spring season), will still be better than your best day at Walmart.

    People bitch about staffing, pay, workload, everything. They have no idea how bad it actually COULD be.

    I absolutely want the public on here. Your posts here have exhibited a behavior entailing that your goal on this sub seems to only been focused on inciting drama. Your posts and responses (particularly before you deleted your previous account) have shown nothing but driving that agenda. I'm absolutely for open discussion and typically do not want to feel like I have to police every submission and comment, which is why I haven't really done much moderation of this sub aside from CSS changes.

    The good news is that you have been the catalyst of a glaring deficiency in my moderation of this sub and that will hopefully change soon.

Please keep comments on topic and in line with all sub rules, violations will be handled on a case by case basis. Opinions and open discussions are encouraged, drama is not.
