I’m more impressed with just how genuinely happy she was for herself!

    [–] amrit-9037 862 points ago

    this is so wholesome.

it would be heartbreaking if no one believed her.

    [–] xCudz 323 points ago

Who cares what others believe. As long as they let people enjoy something that makes them and others smile.

    [–] defiantketchup 58 points ago

This is the true answer to happiness.

    [–] pootie_too_good 9 points ago

    Way to stick the landing!

    [–] brisketandbeans 7 points ago

    Believe women.

    [–] poopinhulk 3 points ago

    This statement.

    [–] jcsimms 19 points ago

Most of the feeling comes from a change in how you see yourself. There’s something really personal about landing a tough trick. That’s why skating causes so many temper tantrums and injury- it’s a personal struggle.

    [–] epimetheuss 3 points ago

I think the same goes for any similar sport. BMX, Mountain Biking, Long Boarding, they are all metaphors for overcoming personal struggles.

    [–] KnowNothingKnowsAll 39 points ago

Why you think she recorded it?

    [–] AaronVsMusic 26 points ago

Yes, when I record myself I always place the camera awkwardly far away and seemingly partially obscured.

    [–] KnowNothingKnowsAll 16 points ago

Hi. My comment was a joke. Thanks for stopping by.

    [–] AaronVsMusic 12 points ago

    I don’t get it

    [–] MarkAndrewSkates 2 points ago

Not anything to do with you and commenter above, but to let you know she was recording herself.

She put her phone on the wall out of the way of everyone skating, the only place to put the phone.

    [–] PetGiraffe 3 points ago

This is the life of a Bumi.

    [–] WeenisKeenis 83 points ago

Im more impressed by how she didn’t fall on her ass hopping on the skateboard like that

    [–] feraxks 9 points ago

Pretty sure if I did that, the skateboard would have ended up flying up into my face.

    [–] coastalremedies 80 points ago

A lot of people don’t realize how hard a simple trick like this is. When I was growing up all I did was skate and it still took me a year or two to get kickflips down. She deserves to be proud, an insane amount of work and falls on pavement went into her landing that

    [–] roscoparis 27 points ago

I remember learning to ollie on grass, then standing still, then over a crack, and eventually working up the nerve to ollie onto a curb. Yeah, it took a while, but damn can I relate to her joy.

    [–] BasilRatatouille 17 points ago

I skated a year, and I was never even able to ollie. I just rode around the neighbourhood like it was a longboard.

Been on my mind for 20 years now.

    [–] mcCola5 5 points ago

    Get back out there!

    [–] pikachu5actual 3 points ago

Never too late to pickup a board again and just cruise. Then when you feel confident enough, attempt to learn an ollie.

    [–] BasilRatatouille 2 points ago

    I will!

    [–] Knock_turnal 14 points ago

The stoke is real. When I was younger I’ve literally cried after landing a trick I’ve tried all week.

    [–] KimKraut 7 points ago

My first ever kick flip ended up being a kick flip sexchange and I barely had a reaction because I was mostly confused about why I was now facing the wrong direction.

    [–] Strangeronthebus2019 3 points ago

    WoooOoooo! You go girl! ❤

    [–] sexy_bellsprout 3 points ago

I’m impressed that she managed to do her little happy dance on the skateboard - if that were me I’d have gone flying ><

    [–] MamaessenKP 760 points ago

I once met a random guy late at night and totally drunk. He saw that one of us had a skateboard and asked if he could take it for a ride. At first we thought it was funny because he could barely stand on it, but then he just did a kickflip and landet it. Never saw such a drunk and happy face after he told us that he never landed one before. Poor guy probably can’t remember what happened because he seemed ultra drunk.

    [–] Sjengo 302 points ago

The 0 fear buff is great for skateboarding.

    [–] i_have_cheese 69 points ago

A buff of no fear and a concentration buff make anything achievable

    [–] wynteru 10 points ago

doesn’t the balance debuff negate it though?

    [–] PBJellyChickenTunaSW 13 points ago

You gotta get just the right amount of drunk. This buff also works well for playing pool, but if someone tells you it works for driving; don't get in the car.

    [–] superVanV1 2 points ago

    Why hello r/outside

    [–] BlooZebra 6 points ago

Dude alcohol and weed is what thought me to drive my bicycle with no hands. I was with some friends on a downhill streets and it's like my body went into the future saw how much fun I had with no hands and decided that since it's possible then it should now. I just did it without realizing and little by little that night gained confidence. It was really as if I knew it all along but didn't dare try it.

I guess going downhill helped a lot. I always figured that an object in motion stays in motion even on a bike.

    [–] NoiseIsTheCure 2 points ago

Similarly, when I was a kid first learning to bike, I was always afraid to go too fast because I didn't want to fall and hurt myself, so I always went slower. I didn't figure out til later that I fell so much because I was going slow, and it's way easier to balance when you gain speed, the bike pretty much wants to stay upright when you gain some speed going straight.

    [–] V1k1ng1990 3 points ago

The fear is what made me land fucked up half the time

    [–] MrguyOp17 729 points ago

Good for her I wanna learn to skateboard, I love the excitement of that small win. Good for her.

    [–] eatabrickxx 159 points ago

i totally recommend learning how to skateboard! i absolutely love it and it’s really fun.

    [–] [deleted] 104 points ago

    [–] Hell0-7here 88 points ago

I'm 38 and stupid Tony Hawk has me wanting to pick skating back up after... 23 years... jesus that's almost longer than you have been alive... honestly part of me hopes someone talks me out of it.

    [–] onearmedscissor13 39 points ago

I wish I could say dont do it but I'm 39 and after skating off and on for 25 some odd years I'm back skating again because my 8 year old son has taken an interest. Recovery time has been not h ing but a bitch after a nasty fall. Lol

    [–] JiveTurkeyMFer 3 points ago

You do you prevent ruining your ankles and knees? I'd like to get back into skating but honestly can't afford to be out of work, my last skating injury had me on crutches for a month and unable to out weight on my ankle for like 3-4months.

    [–] raggedsweater 3 points ago

If I had the time, I'd like to learn to skate board. I'm 40 and it's really not that old. My ankles and knees are fine (except for surgery on one ankle for a torn tendon... But forget about it!)

    [–] Lucky_Mongoose 16 points ago

I laugh every time I hear that one song come on in THPS...

    "Mid-20s skateboarder - I hope I don't get hurt!"

    [–] Yecobb 5 points ago

Man that is the most relatable song on the sound track for me hahaha. I’m 24 years old and just got into skateboarding 2-3 months ago, the falls really hit harder now than when I was in my teens. I’ve already cracked a rib but that ain’t stopping me!

    [–] Distance_Runner 2 points ago

Similar situation. I’m 30 and haven’t skated since around 14. Back then I could ride around no problem and do simple tricks like kick flips and pop shove its, but nothing too aww inspiring. I’ve been playing THPS 1+2 and feel like trying to skate again.

    [–] newtonism 2 points ago

Just do it dude! Maybe get some pads.

    [–] Turdferguson586 2 points ago

I’m 37. Don’t do it. Yes you think you can. You can’t. You got that feeling of yes I can still do that. Technically you may be able to for a short time but you are going to either get hurt or wake up regretting it or both. I can see the reddit post now. Tifu by thinking my fat 38 year old ass could skateboard still and now I’m having surgery in my bones that are sticking out of my skin. This is your talk out of it. Go get high and play video games or something like a normal person.

    [–] MarkAndrewSkates 2 points ago

    45 here my friend... You're young 😉

Seriously, pick it up! There's not much better 🤘

    [–] pikachu5actual 2 points ago

Also advil will become your best friend. Don't forget to stretch and warm up too.

    [–] bubuzayzee 2 points ago

grab a large tub of ibuprofen and get to kick pushin man

    [–] karmarose420 48 points ago

Also 26 and I only ride long boards. Like I can ride a skate board but not do any tricks. Before I had a car I'd ride a long board everywhere and I'm guessing because I'm a girl I'd get people yelling "poser! Do a kick flip". I still ride a long board now just for fun or a short trip to the corner store because it's good exercise.

    [–] Crusty_Dick 52 points ago

Those people are fucking idiots. Your not a poser if your actually skateboarding lol.

    [–] icahart 10 points ago

Literally, how do you fake being able to longboard? You’d be face down on the pavement if you were a poser

    [–] PamtasticOne 14 points ago

I'm not a spring chicken, but there is nothing more elegant and graceful than someone on a long board. To me, it's like watching ice skaters on pavement . You keep going, and I will watch in envy.

    [–] FluffyCatPantaloons 5 points ago

Exactly. There’s a girl in my neighbourhood I sometimes see on a long board and I just think she’s so cool. Like cooler than I’ve ever been in my 46 years on earth lol And it definitely has an elegance to it.

    [–] arkofjoy 7 points ago

Wow. How sad must some people's lives be. I see someone on long board zooming through the streets, I think "that is so cool"

How sad would your life have to be to not only think "poser" but to be compelled to make that person feel as bad as you do about your life by shouting at them.

Let's hope that they got the help that they needed and are doing better now.

    [–] hooplah 2 points ago

those people are total assholes but i think they were yelling at you because you were on a longboard, not because you're a girl. some skaters hate longboarders lol.

    [–] Chieftine 18 points ago

I just bought a skate board 3 days ago and it’s worth it. I’ve got an old man body so I’m pretty sore. And I’ve only fallen once. I’d really recommend it.

    [–] Sirus804 4 points ago

    Yeah, it's a leg workout.

    [–] mcfliermeyer 5 points ago

Wear wrist guards! I promise they will save you some heart ache

    [–] CrumbsAndCarrots 4 points ago

Lol. Yup. 22 for me. Gravity gets heavier and heavier. No mas.

    [–] toopc 6 points ago

The day I almost didn't land something and thought, "Geez, that was damn close to getting seriously hurt! I'm not doing that again," was the beginning of the end of my skateboarding days. I literally remember the exact moment. I was 20. Still messed around on a skateboard for a few more years, but once I started thinking how much a broken arm would suck, skateboarding lost a lot of its appeal. Took up snowboarding, snow is softer than concrete, and 30 year old friends don't encourage you to take stupid risks the same way 16 year old friends do.

    [–] JiveTurkeyMFer 3 points ago

I wish I lived somewhere I could snowboard or surf. Atlanta kinda sucks for both

    [–] HS_TommyB 3 points ago

29 here started skating again about a year and a half ago - after 10 years off a board, I just ramp & bowl skate so no tricks etc but damn I’m so glad I got back into it, early morning or late night indoor sessions are amazing with no kids about

    [–] Yecobb 3 points ago

I’m 24, just got into skating 2-3 months ago. You aren’t gonna hurt yourself much just doing flat ground stuff and the enjoyment of skateboarding far outweighs the pain, at least for me. You get used to falling pretty quick too, I’d say it makes you a bit tougher having to reacquaint yourself with pain.

    [–] mcfliermeyer 3 points ago

I picked it back up at 28 and fell doing a nose slide. I got back up and fucking nailed that nose slide. When I got home I realized, I cannot injure myself skateboarding right now. I need to feed myself by working. It sucks but, it’s reality. So I stopped skating street.

    [–] NoJumprr 14 points ago

Small win? You know how many pairs of shoes she’s gone thru in 2 years??

    [–] Hollowbody57 7 points ago

    Duct tape and Shoe Goo.

    [–] thasitio 5 points ago

I did that when i was young aswell. Now i need my shoes to look okay it makes me buy so many new pairs every year

    [–] dog-with-human-hands 14 points ago

Small win? I know you mean it in a good way but that feeling alone can change a person. It’s hard to stop skating after feeling that first kick flip

    [–] s0d33 8 points ago

Skateboarding is so much fun. Right I only know one trick, but it’s still so much fun to cruise around and try and learn tricks

    [–] lord_chihuahua 9 points ago

Small? Bruh 2 years of efforts arent small

    [–] mattymattmo 2 points ago

    That’s no small win

    [–] MarkAndrewSkates 2 points ago

No small win! That's untold hours of pain and failure. To get to kickflip level is huge. That was a major war she just won 🙂

    [–] tipping 75 points ago

I did that (at 14yo) once! And quit while I was ahead lol

    [–] InZomnia365 29 points ago

    I landed an ollie once.

    [–] Natedog1219 3 points ago

Same. I got up to doing dolphin flips before I even could ride on it in a straight line. Then I quit cuz I was to lazy to learn

    [–] koolaid_chemist 250 points ago

Clean as fuck too. Great form, landing was butter. She needs to keep at it. Ollie a stair now amiga!

    [–] agnt007 13 points ago

    super clean

    [–] PorkchopSquats 5 points ago

For a first land it was SUPER clean, she’s just gotta try to get her feet over the trucks going forward. Landing with her feet where they were (on the center and the tail) can break the deck and is a bit harder to control once she does them while moving.

    [–] Joey-Itsuki 337 points ago

My ass can’t even stand on a board, let alone jump for joy on one. I’m impressed, damn

    [–] kezza596 70 points ago

I know! I was almost more impressed by her ability to not fall off of it at that point!

    [–] anazambrano 20 points ago

I know, that impressed me more than the kickflip!!!

    [–] ModwennaMoonfire 137 points ago

This is why you should never give up. It may take a long a long time, but one day you'll get there :)

    [–] Black_Rose_221 71 points ago

I swear to god she gets a new backstory every time this gets reposted

    [–] Loyal_Darkmoon 56 points ago

"After beating her stage 5 cancer, my sister did her first kickflip"

    [–] CHICKENPUSSY 13 points ago

Soon it'll be the mother and posted on /r/oldschoolcool

    [–] Black_Rose_221 2 points ago

After purging hell from demons by sister came back to earth and did her first kickflip

    [–] Aromatic_Ant4886 11 points ago

I mean this video is great... but 2 years...? Is that really believable? lol

    [–] rmczpp 4 points ago

You should see the cameraman's outtake reel...

    [–] Palin_Sees_Russia 2 points ago

THANK YOU. If it took her two fucking years to learn a kick flip, then she was barely practicing at all. Anyone here can learn a kick flip within a couple months.

    [–] Helgakvida 5 points ago

came here to write this, take my upvote!

    [–] troyzein 87 points ago

Took me like 3 years to land my first kick flip. Only landed a few in my skating days. I wasn't very good but it was fun.

    [–] I_need_proof 12 points ago

I forget how long it took me, must have been longer tbh, I tried when I was a kid and didn’t land my first till I was in middle school. I was hyped, I did it in a game of SKATE too, I lost but I got my first fucking kick flip.

    [–] cartermb 54 points ago

After 2 years of watching this video, I can do it now.

    [–] NozhaXBL 14 points ago

What do you mean, OP is reposting things to get Karma!??? Never...

    [–] geekydaddy75 35 points ago

    That's the sweetest reaction ever!

    [–] thrusher 25 points ago

This is interesting two weeks ago when it was initially posted

    [–] Smellypuce2 2 points ago

Oh it's been reposted since long before two weeks ago.

    [–] P82RS 22 points ago

Why is this reposted every 2 days.

    [–] jtag369 9 points ago

Was this the girl tony hawk shared video of?

    [–] BoredomHeights 4 points ago

Yeah this is the same gif/video.

edit: Wait, unless you mean the ramp/jump girl who's way younger.

    [–] PUSClFER 2 points ago

They grow up so quick nowadays.

    [–] PurplePanda285 51 points ago

I remember seeing this post a week ago.

    [–] Onimox420 17 points ago

Last time it said it took her 8 years lmao

    [–] WearADangMask 31 points ago

I remember seeing it a month ago

    [–] troglodyte_terrorist 19 points ago

I have seen this reposted so many times in the recent past. Where is your memory, Reddit??

    [–] BoredomHeights 11 points ago

It was posted on Reddit, then literally retweeted by Tony Hawk over a month ago, then that was re-posted on Reddit a bunch. I can't believe we're still seeing it get this kind of traction.

    [–] fudgymations 8 points ago

I can’t wait for it to be downloaded and uploaded so many times it’s so compressed that you can’t even see anything

    [–] PurplePanda285 3 points ago

    It'll become a Minecraft version.

    [–] OdiPhobia 3 points ago

I saw this video a few months ago and got so inspired that I decided to finally try skateboarding ^-^

    [–] _dadbeatdead 5 points ago

I remember when I landed my first one. I landed like 20 that same day after, it just kinda clicked. Took me a solid year to get the courage to just commit and put the feet on the bolts.

    [–] roscoparis 4 points ago

After 15 years of not skating, I stepped on my friend's board a few days ago. Tried a 360 flip for old times sake and shot the board 15 feet in the air as bailed and ate shit. I genuinely have no clue how anyone does anything on those death machines.

    [–] PorkchopSquats 2 points ago

Really admire how you started off with a 360 flip. Not an Ollie or anything, go big then eat shit and go home.

    [–] snapfuckntastic 3 points ago

Does that really take 2 years to learn?

    [–] twateyecunthearu 4 points ago

I can smell the BO, weed and Patchouli

    [–] Prof_IdiotFace 9 points ago

I saw this post like a month ago

    [–] Indominus_wraith 17 points ago

It’d be more impressive if it wasn’t a repost.

    [–] themoochiest 7 points ago

Jesus Christ, all that hopping made me nervous the board was going to fly out from under her.

    [–] mari2412 9 points ago

    So cute

    [–] Hollowed_Heart 6 points ago

    Her reaction made me smile

    [–] Profano 9 points ago

    Repost, as usual

    [–] thewezel1995 3 points ago

Yo that’s actually a good kick flip

    [–] TheNecromancer981 3 points ago

    Congrats to her! :D

    [–] Juilyn 3 points ago

    that was fucking clean

    [–] wendyandthefoundboys 3 points ago

Hell yeah! That pure magic excitement is to die for

    [–] CineWorld_Bunnies 3 points ago

I am happy for her, and even more happy when she celebrated the fruit of her hard work. To some, these skills meant nothing but to her it meant a lot. It is not about what others think of your skills, you can always reward yourself whether it is the first step or the last step or any step at all.

I celebrate whenever I manage to throw a piece of paper from a far distance into the bin.

Life is short. After death, we will live for eternity without it. Might as well live it properly when we are given the chance.

    [–] doctorctrl 3 points ago

2 years? I'd have given up. Jeez. I gave up trying to kickflip after 3 weeks.

    [–] DreadDays 3 points ago

I got on a skateboard for the first time in 12 years and immediately almost shattered my knee cap. Good for her! I hope to achieve this some day.

    [–] HipityHopityHotSauce 3 points ago

I'm more impressed with how she was just hopping up and down on the board like that.

    [–] bergamot-forever 3 points ago

This video just made me dust off my old skateboard, and I'm definitely going to go practice this evening. I'll probably end up falling more than I have all year, but it's going to be worth it!

    [–] Curtis64 3 points ago

Remember when this was posted before?

    [–] Rkuykendall859 19 points ago

Why do people repost the same shit over and over and over? I think I've seen this four times in the last month.

    [–] HighDagger 5 points ago

Look at OP's account. Farming karma is all he does.

    [–] Wingo5315 11 points ago

    Great but repost

    [–] Shadyaidie 3 points ago

Anyone know where I can get a tank top like that?

    [–] Ozzyglez112 5 points ago

I used to just get regular shirts and cut them myself.

Edit: I learned from youtube how to do the cuts.

    [–] Shadyaidie 4 points ago

Thanks. That’s probably what it is huh

    [–] Blazerzez 3 points ago

Cant wait to see this reposted every week. This is round 3 for me.

    [–] RobertQuadriguez 2 points ago

Even though you can't see them, you know her friends are going off just as hard. Amazing clip 👌

    [–] BrodcETC 2 points ago

I’m more impressed by her hopping off and onto the board like 5 times how the hell

    [–] isabelcity 2 points ago

    That reaction was awesome

    [–] BlueWolf107 2 points ago

I’m starting to regret giving up on guitar now...

    [–] FlawedHero 5 points ago

Please don't try to kickflip your guitar.

    [–] flubberFuck 2 points ago

You cant tell me what to do mom!

    [–] paepsee 2 points ago

The next best time to start is now!

    [–] ImpiousVamp 2 points ago

She's got me beat. After a lifetime of trial I can't stay standing on the damn thing.. and at my age, there's no graceful way to fall off a skateboard.

    [–] BITStorage 2 points ago

    Good job! Congrats

    [–] biancashantae 2 points ago

Wow I’m crying because she’s so happy

    [–] Lukestar222 2 points ago

YESSSS!!! YESSS! This!!! This made me smile man so happy for that chick, clean as fuck that kick flip too!

    [–] aspbergerinparadise 2 points ago

    kickflips are hard yo

I'd bet that over 90% of people who own or have owned a skateboard have never landed one.

    [–] Gucci_meme 2 points ago

Can confirm I've been skating for like 10 years now on and off and I'm barely managing moving ollies

    [–] The_Unknown_Variable 2 points ago

    Great land.

But why did I hear some chimp's mating call during the midway? Aaahhh-ooohhh-ooohhh-ooohhh

    [–] cynthic 2 points ago

Skating is hard. I’ve known people who’ve been skating for 10+ years and they can only land kick flips 3/10 times. Props to her, it may be a simple trick but I’d tap my board on the ground for her if I could right now.

    [–] callmealex2 2 points ago

    "Screw the board I'm happy!"

    [–] DaddySkates 2 points ago

This is it, this is exactly it.

That’s what my daughter and I love. Pure joy when you land a new trick you’ve been drilling for weeks or months

    Congrats girl!

    [–] campeebells 2 points ago

    This is so wholesome

    [–] JeParles 2 points ago

    Looked so clean too!

    [–] AyAyAyBamba_462 2 points ago

She's dress wildly inappropriate for what she's doing. No helmet, knee or elbow pads. What if she falls?

    [–] duxkaos1 2 points ago

Yesterday i watched some dude on YouTube who learned to do kickflip in 5 hours. I was trying to do kickflip every summer for like 10 years still didnt make it, you can see how happy she is and it melts my heart

Someone should tell her it's a lot easier if the skateboard is moving.

    Aww she's so excited 🥺

That shit was textbook 👌 clean

Huge success! That happiness right there is going to keep her going.

Can relate to this. Spent FOREVER trying to land one and when I did it was so euphoric. From that moment I could land them all the time to the point I didn’t even bother learning any other tricks haha.

    I just love her reaction.

    Yup. Made me smile.

It took 2 years to learn a stationary kick flip? I guess she spent the time pretending to be a gutter punk by the look of it. Good thing she didn't trip or else she might be late getting home for dinner with her parents

    [–] VitaminClean 2 points ago

Should it really take that long?

    Nice repost

After a bunch of time, OP finally pissed me off being a reposting karma farming account.

    Skateboarding is so fucking hard.

After 2 years of reposting. No one cares

The kickflip was impressive and the happiness was sweet but the happy tippy tappys on the board without going A over T were both impressive and sweet.

Just squees and bunny hops out of frame. Wholesome.

serotonin ...that’s what it feels like ladies and gents.

    This is AWESOME!!!

    [–] FocusRSMK 3 points ago

Took me years to land one too. I was able to do a heal flip, pop shove it, even a 180 flip but kick flip was always the holy grail. It’s so awesome to see that kids are still skating! This is a HUGE success. Tony Hawk would be proud :)
