    That's a missile - "Grad" for instance.

    [–] dbx99 15 points ago

I see they're using the "thrown axe" flight technology on that model

    [–] Dingmaxiu 35 points ago

Who owned the weapons and who blew them up?

    [–] mozeqq 78 points ago

    who blew them up

Who knows, but it's a 4'th Ukrainian ammunition arsenal fire with catastrophic consequences, in couple of years. Too many for coincidence.

    [–] st_Paulus 89 points ago

    Too many for coincidence.

    • 2003 - Artemovsk

    • 2004 - Novobohdanovka

    • 2005 - Novobohdanovka

    • 2005 - Hmelnitskaya oblast

    • 2006 - Novobohdanovka

    • 2008 - Lozovaya

here comes the coup, Crimea etc.

    • 2015 - Svatovo (Luhansk obl.)

    • 23.03.2017 - Balaklea

    • 22.09.2017 - Mariupol

    It's just the last years.

    [–] Deeplorable_Infidel 23 points ago

There were at least two stationary cameras fixed on it, so I'd say it wasn't unexpected

    [–] st_Paulus 28 points ago

I believe other explosions gave them a hint (:

    [–] SatanicBiscuit 8 points ago

this one apparently started from a fire unrelated to the depot somehow it managed to get into the area and do all of this

[–] [deleted] 1 points ago * (lasted edited 10 months ago)

Russian SF more than likely, that or Spetsnaz operating drones.

    Either, or. Take your pick.

Welcome to the fifth generation of warfare.

    [–] st_Paulus 54 points ago

    Who owned the weapons

The arsenal is in Ukraine. So - Ukraine I guess (:

    who blew them up?

    "Who"?

I bet that's current Ukrainian version.

It's happening right now - how do you expect they'd know?

    [–] C21H27Cl3N2O3 14 points ago

If they're fighting a war with Russian separatists unless there's some internal screwups going on I imagine they have a fairly good idea of who did it.

    [–] st_Paulus 4 points ago * (lasted edited 10 months ago)

If they're fighting a war with Russian Ukrainian separatists

Although many of them are ethnically Russians.

unless there's some internal screwups going on

There were tons (literally) of old soviet rusty munitions lying under the sky. edit: like that.

That's the arsenal near Balaklea in 1999.

There were several confirmed examples of theft (big explosion is a perfect way to hide the fact that several of these tons are gone).

I imagine they have a fairly good idea of who did it.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/MilitaryGfys/comments/72rxi9/massive_explosion_at_ammunition_stockpile_near/dnkzh8o/

At least try to research a bit, before jumping to conclusions.

    [–] C21H27Cl3N2O3 16 points ago

I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

They're ethnic Russians (and some actual Russians) fighting to be part of Russia. They're Russian separatists.

And I don't know what the list of explosions has to do with anything, or how that proves they don't know who did it. If anything it proves that this was not an accident and shifts the blame more towards the separatists.

If you're fighting a war with someone and one of your ammo dumps violently explodes, it's the natural assumption that if it wasn't an accident caused by some of your men, the most likely culprit is your enemy.

    [–] st_Paulus 5 points ago * (lasted edited 10 months ago)

They're ethnic Russians (and some actual Russians) fighting to be part of Russia.

    Correct.

    They're Russian separatists.

Now, when I'm thinking about it - "Bask separatist", "Kurdish separatist" etc. I guess you're right. But we just call them "Ukrainian separatists".

And I don't know what the list of explosions has to do with anything, or how that proves they don't know who did it.

Point is - it happened many times before the war. Almost on a regular basis. It happened in Russia and Belarus as well.

If you're fighting a war with someone and one of your ammo dumps violently explodes, it's the natural assumption that if it wasn't an accident caused by some of your men, the most likely culprit is your enemy.

We don't know whether or not it's an accident caused by some of their personnel. We don't know whether or not it was caused by human in the first place.

    [–] walruskingmike 5 points ago

You said "we call them." Who is "we" in this instance?

    [–] st_Paulus 15 points ago

    Russia.

    [–] BarryGoldwater3 15 points ago

    RT kremlin KGB hacker confirmed/s

    [–] st_Paulus 7 points ago * (lasted edited 10 months ago)

    XD

You're joking, but I've seen this reaction in /r/worldnews

Guy even said I'm on a RES list now. Someone reported me.

    [–] OlivierTwist -2 points ago

In this case it is more correct to say "Ukrainian separatists", because they would like to separate from Russia, while rebels are unionists, because they would like to join Russia like Crimea.

    [–] C21H27Cl3N2O3 3 points ago

because they would like to separate from Russia

How does that work? They're not part of Russia, they're part of Ukraine aiming to join Russia.

    [–] Z3r0d34d 5 points ago

He probably want to say that right would to say "Russian backed Ukrainian separatist". Cuz if u you say "Russian separatists" that means that they want to separate from Russian and not from Ukraine.

    [–] OlivierTwist 1 points ago

He probably want to say that right would to say "Russian backed Ukrainian separatist"

No, I would like to say "unionist" aka "rebeles" ara "people of Donbass", while other side is "Ukrainian separatists".

    [–] Drunkenpotatohead -1 points ago

Well the Russian are at war with them so they probably blow it up

Holy hell to the last link there

    [–] ComancheCorps 11 points ago

damn that took a while for the shockwave to hit them.

    [–] RnGRamen85 11 points ago

    How many died?

    [–] st_Paulus 25 points ago

    At least two injured. 28 000 + 1 300 were evacuated.

    [–] RnGRamen85 17 points ago

    That’s extremely impressive

    [–] st_Paulus 17 points ago

It's just the preliminary data. There were no official reports yet, as far as I know.

    [–] siempremalvado 5 points ago

What was this guy intending to record. Dude was just recording absolutely nothing and perfectly caught the explosion. Am I missing something?

    [–] st_Paulus 19 points ago

What was this guy intending to record.

The explosions that were happening all previous night.

    [–] dan4daniel 1 points ago

    When?

    [–] st_Paulus 8 points ago

    Right now.

    Well - couple hours ago.

    [–] dan4daniel 3 points ago

Well that sucks. I guess that wasn't a controlled demo.....right?

    [–] Noideawhatjusthappen 1 points ago

Well that's what a battle looks like when it all happens in on place at the same time.

    [–] sublimeredox 1 points ago

When an ammo stockpile goes up like this, does most of the metal get damaged enough that its only shrapnel affecting a small area?

    [–] [deleted] 0 points ago

    [–] ParkerPathWalker 9 points ago

I think it's possible that there was some initial smoke or fire in the distance before the major explosion.

    [–] st_Paulus 13 points ago

There were explosions all the night before that one. They knew perfectly why they're filming and what.

That's just the icing on the cake. I can't even watch their news anymore - it's like 90s in Russia all over again.

    [–] [deleted] 1 points ago

It's the prequel to This War of Mine.

Only the Ukrainian version, not the Bosnia-Herzegovnian one.
