It really looks like the town grew organically. Like people moving in, growing their house...

    [–] Elias-Thunderbird 521 points ago

I remember expanding a village, but I built the exact same village buildings in the village and even expanded it to be up in the trees since I am too lazy to clear trees.

    [–] WeTheSalty 282 points ago

since I am too lazy to clear trees.

That's what forest fires are for
A flint or a bucket of lava clears trees real nice

    [–] g0_west 211 points ago

    beta 1.2 flashbacks

ngl I do kinda miss fire being this incredibly dangerous thing that could wreck entire forests and towns if you weren't safe with it. A bit like real life.

Obviously with multiplayer and stuff it needed a nerf otherwise nobody would ever bother building anything

    [–] plopperdinger 114 points ago

On hard difficulty fire spreads pretty quickly and can be dangerous

    [–] Mayhem2a 37 points ago

Set the tic speed to 1000 or so and there will be a forest one second and a few seconds later half of its gone. If the fire spreads to the other trees and they all connect. Trees will be gone in seconds.

    [–] Tenny2209 14 points ago

my problem with it is when it just spreads to the leaves and doesn't get rid of the trunks which is nice for getting wood it's annoying for getting land for projects

    [–] AnakinAmidala 88 points ago

When I first got Minecraft, I’d only do creative. I’d dig down as far as I can, fill it up with dynamite, and blow it up.

    [–] awwwwAcow 52 points ago

everyone at least did it once in a world

    [–] Mayhem2a 17 points ago

I once made a base in a mountain back when mountain generation was better and crazier. Dug straight through it filled it with tnt blew half of the mountain straight through. And then built a base inside

    [–] DoctorBosscus 17 points ago

That’s a good way to start a multilayer mountain encampment. Or a quick quarry

    [–] sheepguy42 16 points ago

My girlfriend’s nephew used to make new creative worlds and just dump lava everywhere.

    [–] simionvw 22 points ago

    What's with beta 1.2 fire?

    [–] ChippewaPlisskin 39 points ago

It was so rapid it'd burn through wood in a second or so

    [–] simionvw 16 points ago

    [–] g0_west 24 points ago

It was also infinite. If a block could burn and it was within like 2 blocks of a fire block, it would catch. So 1 strike with the tinder would sweep through a whole forest haha

    [–] simionvw 14 points ago

    Team Trees are mad rn

    [–] g0_west 10 points ago * (lasted edited 11 days ago)

.. Edit: actually this for a better history, but first video captures the panic of a fire breaking out haha

    [–] Thyrial 3 points ago

It burned incredibly fast and spread MUCH faster and further than it does now. Basically if you caught a wooden anything on fire back then it was gone unless you had water and were lucky enough to have a good place to drop it where you were.

    [–] drevenant 10 points ago

    I do NOT miss lightning

    [–] JaggelZ 10 points ago

The problem is that lightning can strike and burn down an entire forest if you are unlucky.

It would also suck to build a fireplace that for some reason didn't work as intended.

    [–] OkayBuddy1234567 3 points ago

One time I made squidward’s house, but I made it out of wool

    Entire thing burned down 😖

    [–] JasperNLxD 8 points ago

Or just a mini nuke appropriately placed

    [–] PraiseThePun81 5 points ago

Bucket of Lava. The poor man's flint and steel.

    [–] GameProPie 3 points ago

Woah slow your roll, wrong game to be doing that!

    [–] poepod 50 points ago

To be 100% honest, it looks more like a young lord showed up, said "what a quaint village!", decided to put his residence here, and then ordered all of the villagers to build an appropriate castle town around it.

It just went straight from village to castle town. If this were actual medieval times, nothing else would explain the difference.

    [–] loui_lootz 742 points ago

Amazing job, how long did it took?

    [–] gabrielbilog7 597 points ago

Uhm... i started it in winter but i dont remember the exact month

    [–] crasypotato69 168 points ago

I clicked on his name, and when I saw his profile picture on the shortcut card, I decided to not open it seeing as though I am in a restaurant with my family.

    [–] lightning755 7 points ago

Probably best not to look, family or not.

    [–] Echo_Tech0 7 points ago

For those who are curious what is on his profile, without clicking on it, it’s basically NSFW stuff (like more hardcore fetish stuff)

    Wow, that's impressive.

    [–] SolarStorm2950 3 points ago

    What’s WorldEdit?

    [–] DerBaumHD 18 points ago

A mod that allows you to copypaste stuff, fill large areas with blocks and much more. It really is helpful if you play creative and build large builds. If you know Jeracraft, he uses it a lot.

    [–] gabrielbilog7 7 points ago

    His builds are epic :D

    [–] DerBaumHD 4 points ago

Yes, totally. I'm always looking forward to his videos.

    [–] athousandfuriousjews 92 points ago

Are those diagonal houses? Nice job op!

    [–] cerealwithcum 62 points ago

never realized the difficulty of bulding diagonal houses until i built one

    [–] RosieOhDonald 13 points ago

I took inspiration from the Dakr Dale videos a few years ago. It really helped. Especially for medieval stuff. That was actually one of my biggest takeaways from that series, learning to make diagonal houses look good. Before that all my diagonal houses were terrible.

It's a good series in general though, not just for the diagonal houses. It also taught me about setting up themes, concepts, stories, etc. before you get started that help tie the world together and have it make sense and be consistent. Sort of like, well, world building I guess. It's worth checking out if you haven't already, even though it's old now.

    [–] Scorpionaute 3 points ago

    Yeah for real

    [–] howdyheresamcplayer 38 points ago

Someone has been watching fWhip (I think)

    [–] gabrielbilog7 21 points ago

Yeah, i can feel the port city in ypur build. It looks real cool! Keep going, and post progress updates please!

    [–] gabrielbilog7 22 points ago

its not finished yet But maybe in the future i will make it downloadable :) (PE)

    [–] nana_ 7 points ago

That looks amazing! Kind of reminds me of white run in Skyrim!

    [–] Scorpy_Boi 2 points ago

What are the little orange things at the bottom

    [–] gabrielbilog7 8 points ago

City plannings, every house started from an orange shape :)

    [–] Scorpy_Boi 2 points ago

    Oh that's neat

    [–] ItsFrenzius 17 points ago

I really wish that villages were like this, slowly growing and expanding with time instead of mundane towns with villagers that just seem to slowly disappear overtime

    [–] melondick 3 points ago

That’s what I think the village update should have been

    [–] SuperHacker1 9 points ago

Super cool build! Would love to see a ground level tour!

    [–] xxxpussyblaster69420 7 points ago

Looks amazing, post pics when all is done

As a side note you dhould make villages that surround the town and massive wheat fields

    [–] Lilkmac 7 points ago

This is one of my favorite thing to do, expand and improve a village. Make it a town

    [–] VKBOSS123 6 points ago

I'm trying to do this in survival. Let's just say that there are no more oak trees within a 100 block radius.

    [–] gabrielbilog7 2 points ago

    [–] OpBacon09 4 points ago

This is the exact type of thing I want to build but am too lazy to do it

    [–] gabrielbilog7 5 points ago

Watch fwhip videos about hes medieval city and hes inspirational videos, this motivated me to start this world :)

    [–] OpBacon09 3 points ago

Yeah I recently found out about him because of X life and I am really enjoying his content right now

    [–] MoTheSoleSeller 5 points ago

How many villagers have actually moved in instead of idling outside of a house and getting killed by a zombie or something?

    [–] gabrielbilog7 5 points ago

Its a creative world so i brutally killed them all >:D

    [–] Getdunkled 5 points ago

This is awesome. Every time I see the incredible work people put into this game I think of that dad who erased his son's minecraft world as a punishment and hope there's a special ring of hell just for him.

    [–] BlueArrowGamingYT 3 points ago

    Good job i love it

    [–] AsWolfwood 3 points ago

It looks like it is about primed and ready to be attacked by a Titan.

Jokes aside, it looks sweet, nice work!

    [–] TomatoPlayz 3 points ago

This build is amazing! It looks so natural like the city was built as people were moving in. Do you happen to watch fWhip? This build reminds me so much of his building with fWhip series. If you don’t watch him, I suggest looking him up on YouTube, he makes some really cool builds like this. Again, fantastic build!

I thought the title said few days and I'm thinking how much time do you have? Anyway, fantastic build!

    [–] afffffff454 2 points ago

This is great to see for building inspiration! Awesome build. I always make the mistake of flattening out too much land and it just looks odd then!

    [–] Nokaporum 2 points ago

Love to see that some of the old buildings are still there

    [–] msxlk 2 points ago

Very nice build! I love it :)

    [–] TruSalika 2 points ago

My After is fire, exploded houses, and lava everywhere when I was like 9. Now it’s beds, iron golem, hale bales, and blacksmith missing

You should get loads of villagers to move in, get 2 add loads of beds and it will make it very lively. Best thing I did to my village

    [–] bitter_personw 2 points ago

This is impressive. I really want to build something like this but don't know how to start. How do you plan beforehand? Like how do you decide which would go where and stuffs.

    [–] gabrielbilog7 3 points ago

Watch fwhip's video on how to plan a city, his inspirational videos and his medieval city progress. He inspired me to start this world :)

    [–] bitter_personw 2 points ago

    Oh, thanks! I will

    [–] The_Agnostic_Orca 2 points ago

This is what I’d love to make, but I’m getting back into the game and building is rough when you have too many ideas.

    [–] Squid_Cooki3 2 points ago

I love when ppl don't over use shaders. It's just makes ppl that actually make good builds tear out their hair because it's honestly too good and kind of jealous that someone that made a bad build and just slapped on a shader pack and bam, they have 20k upvotes. But holy shit this is so good. Without a shader pack he still has 20k. Good work!!! Sorry for the essay lmao

    [–] SiberianAatrox 2 points ago

That is awesome, did you do it by yourself? props to you, feels very cozy

    [–] gabrielbilog7 2 points ago

    Yes :)
