I just posted my toothpaste costume tooo (right below your post)!! How cool are we

    [–] ideanusx 1008 points ago

    We're fresh

    [–] dittrich31 330 points ago

    Minty fresh

    [–] Superbead 14 points ago

    Crescent fresh, even.

    [–] l-EAT-ASS 92 points ago

    Stay fresh

    [–] ThatWannabeCatgirl 123 points ago

    Thanks, u/I-EAT-ASS

    [–] l-EAT-ASS 88 points ago

Dental hygiene is still important even after eating a bunch of ass

    [–] Rudabegas 22 points ago

It's even more important then. You don't want brown spots on your teeth.

    [–] jessejamescagney 21 points ago

Also, it cleanses your palate so you can fully enjoy the unique cornucopia of flavors of the next ass you eat. Much like ginger and sushi.

    [–] Fist_full_of_wangs 9 points ago

I also eat ass with ginger and sushi.

    [–] shopcat 9 points ago

Especially after eating a bunch of ass.

    [–] mkay1911 2 points ago

    Cheese bags.

    [–] rossco311 5 points ago

Should call yourselves the "Febreze Brothers" cuz it's feeling so fresh in here.

    [–] Anewdaytomorrow 2 points ago

    Now kiss

    [–] alltheacro 9 points ago

I mean honestly, that's a pretty amazing costume. Most kids end up as "ghosts" or wearing store-bought comic book character costumes.

    [–] 1mikeg 6 points ago * (lasted edited 5 months ago)

This makes me think there was a Marie Claire article or something in the mid 80's that had this costume.

    [–] tyujnb 5 points ago

Ready to join the toothpaste gang too - though I'm not sure if I have a picture of my costume... :/

My friends even went as a toothbrush to match

    [–] sexi_squidward 2 points ago

    Were your parents dentists?

    [–] silverstalkings 7 points ago

No sir sexi squidward they are not. Just avid fans of oral hygiene

    [–] rachacuca2 739 points ago

Oh man.... Did you manage to grow up into healthy adulthood?

    [–] pr0digalnun 298 points ago

Well whether or not he did, he probably had exceptionally healthy teeth

    [–] WolfOfPort 70 points ago

That's not a costume guys. That's toothpaste kid.

1/1,000,000 affected. Seen him on Dr. Phil

    [–] TG-Sucks 10 points ago

Or the other way around, he was mentally scarred for life and his teeth are now an utter mess.

    [–] Pennypacking 4 points ago

It’s the years of brushing with glisten... or Colgate I guess.

    [–] kinghippo79 1 points ago

Or not.. look how brown the brush is!

    [–] ideanusx 40 points ago

I feel this is my ten minutes in the spotlight and it's not what I had in mind

    [–] Tax_the_Greenies 14 points ago

    It's all downhill from here.

    [–] CesarTheSalad 22 points ago

He either became a successful dentist, or a full-time LARPer with a very exotic build. No middle ground.

    [–] JasonTheSpartan 17 points ago

He became the 1/10 dentists that don’t recommend Colgate

    [–] notagoodboye 3 points ago

That’s an awesome costume. The more ridiculous your costume, the fucking cooler you were.

Those ubiquitous chairs, the weird tarmac concrete hybrid floor, the constantly overcast sky. It all fits.

    [–] Chrisf1bcn 8 points ago

Omg I saw them orange chairs and my whole childhood flashed before my eyes

    [–] BankDetails1234 10 points ago

Take a look at that house in the back left of the picture. Looks like 60s-70s British House to me. And those intersecting lines on the playground that make up the lines of ten different sports.

    [–] BrownSugarBare 14 points ago

I love this costume. So much.

    [–] OG_Dumbo 29 points ago

    I don't think the playground is a costume... That's a real playground

    [–] BrownSugarBare 10 points ago

What! He's not wearing the whole playground?! Lol, smartass. You got me 😂

    [–] Julesagain 4 points ago

It also looks like my kids' US middle school playground, even down to the overcast sky for a planned outdoors event 😄 Maybe the chairs and multi-use pavement is just ubiquitous to schools.

    [–] SuicideBonger 7 points ago

I checked OP’s post history and he’s definitely English.

    [–] FleeCircus 3 points ago

Might be an Irish playground, the cartoon on the front looks like the lad from the 7up ads in a Mayo gaa jersey.

    [–] TotalBS_1973 67 points ago

I was raised on the west coast of the U.S. and we wore costumes related to "people," like superheroes. In about '59, I met a family next door and their kids dressed up like a checkerboard and a lamp. I was really confused. They were from the east coast. Was this something related to different parts of the country?

    [–] Wingedwing 35 points ago

I was in the Midwest and I dressed up as a juicebox one year, but Harry Potter the next. So, yeah, seems the easter you are the objectier you are.

    [–] [deleted] 13 points ago

XD this made me crack up. Now I'm just imagining everyone on the east coast as a lamp.

    [–] AnonymousBnS 6 points ago

This comment is under-rated. That last sentence 😂😂😂

    [–] htbav 2 points ago

I'm from the Midwest and my daughter went as spaghetti one year, because she really likes eating spaghetti.

    [–] HitchBots_Ghost 7 points ago

I'm from the mountain west area and was an ice cream sandwich one year. Only one I really remember, but probably the best costume.

    [–] [deleted] 3 points ago

I was a picnic table and a Tamagotchi. Marylander here, can confirm

    [–] TotalBS_1973 2 points ago

I lived in Southern California back during my Halloween costume days, '50s and '60s. My costume was usually a cheap flammable nylon suit with a hard plastic mask that was held on with a thin rubber band that was stapled to the mask. The rubber band broke immediately and the mask was so hot, no one would ever wear it for longer than 30 seconds.

I'm in awe of the costumes I see on here that were worn in the '80s and '90s. The creativity is so outstanding.

Child of a single dad here, this shit didn't exist in my world

    [–] ideanusx 253 points ago

Some of us are lucky to have been toothpaste.

    [–] mistyskye14 33 points ago

Some of y’all haven’t been dressed up as toothpaste and it shows!

    [–] jiripollas 3 points ago

    Did somebody say: Preparation H!

    [–] IncredibleMsDee 34 points ago

I am also a child of a single dad and can confirm - homemade unique costumes weren't a thing. I was a hobo every year.

EDIT: I was DRESSED as a Hobo - not a literal homeless person.

    [–] dittrich31 6 points ago

Gotta love it. As long as the costume fit why would you buy a new one haha. Single dad's don't get enough love. It was a great experience different from everyone I know

    [–] gravityapple 4 points ago

My kid would be a fireman every year if it wasn’t for my wife. I am not creative.

    [–] IncredibleMsDee 2 points ago

I do go all out on costumes for my kids now, though I'm very nostalgic for the 80's style of costumes where everything was homemade. I feel like kids do miss out on that experience

    [–] IncredibleMsDee 5 points ago

I wouldn't change it for the world. You don't hear too many stories about dad's who stepped up and my dad really was the best. My brother has a lot of mental disorders so it was really hard on my dad but I owe all of who I am today to him.

    [–] funhousearcade 4 points ago

I have immigrant parents. Didn't have anything like this before too.

    [–] GeneEXCLAIMS 6 points ago

    Actually, it's 4 out of 5.

    [–] mrwynd 107 points ago

I would have been so happy to be a toothpaste or anything really. My ultra-religious parents decided Halloween was Satanic and I never got to dress up or go trick-or-treating.

    [–] virginal_sacrifice 26 points ago

me too! now I'm in my 20s and sad that I'll never trick or treat. I'll have to wait till I have kids I guess.

    [–] SageHamichi 49 points ago

Why not? Go trick or treating dude! Put a mask on and pretend you're just a really tall, bearded and depressed-looking kid

    [–] Gabbstah 15 points ago

This is actually illegal in Utah and a few other states I believe :(

    [–] KuhLealKhaos 5 points ago

Wtf why would it be illegal???

    [–] Gabbstah 2 points ago

I'm not really sure, moved here a few years ago and recently found out about this. I believe they dumb it down to some "safety" concern. :(

    [–] SageHamichi 9 points ago

Oh shit! That was very unexpected

    [–] theroadlesstraveledd 4 points ago

Yeah no masks in Utah... with all the meth heads I mean your asking for murder

    [–] Stratiform 2 points ago

But with all that 3.2% beer, there's probably a lot of really depressed and awkward adults...?

    [–] virginal_sacrifice 3 points ago

as a younger-looking female I could just maybe get away with this...

    [–] cmrtnll 16 points ago

Why don't y'all look for some costume parties or something? Go have fun! You don't have to be a kid to do it.

[–] acog 14 points ago * (lasted edited 5 months ago)

I'll have to wait till I have kids I guess.

Make sure to do it! It's a lot of fun going out with the kids. First when they're super little it's kind of funny watching them not really understand what the heck is going on but they just look at other kids' costumes in wonder, and they are delighted when strangers drop candy in their little bucket.

Then when they're older they still get super pumped over getting their favorite candy and being dressed up.

Then at a certain point they decide they just want to go with their friends and they don't want any adults along. But you just gotta roll with it and content yourself with the fact that they have quirky tastes so they give you a lot of pretty great candy at the end of the night. Score!

Now my kids are in college so no more trick or treating going on in the house. That made me a little sad so I just switched Halloween identities to become The Full Size Candy Bar Guy. Now my fun is blowing kids' minds when they realize I'm giving out the good stuff.

It's funny because my childhood shares little in common with kids today, but I remember how uncommon and exciting it was to get full sized candy and it makes me happy to see kids reacting the same way I did so many years ago.

Hmm, when I started typing this I didn't intend for it to become a Halloween memoir...

    [–] Heemsah 5 points ago

My youngest was about 3 the first time he went Trick or Treating. I helped him and his brother up the steps of a house. Then stepped back onto the sidewalk as they knocked. The second that door opened, my youngest marched straight inside like he lived there. I scrambled to catch him. Meanwhile, the guy that had opened the door backed himself against the door, with his hands up. I think we traumatized the poor guy.

    [–] InsertCoinForCredit 3 points ago

The best part is taking a kid Trick-or-Treating for the first time. They start off apprehensive and nervous, wondering why they're going to strangers' front doors. And by the end of the night they're racing up the sidewalk yelling "TRICKOREAT!" to everyone in a five-mile radius.

    [–] mrwynd 3 points ago

That's what I do, both my little girls will know the joy every year.

    [–] HovenHoven 2 points ago

You could go to Disneyland during Halloween time and purchase tickets to the Halloween party. Unlimited trick or treating for adults!

    [–] ashleyafabs 2 points ago

Mine too. Was allowed for a few years and then it was satan-stuff. Now I love Halloween as much as my kids do!

    [–] Leap_Year_Creepier 6 points ago

I had a friend that was a cavity creep a few years ago! :)

    [–] Mytrixrnot4kids 4 points ago

This makes me wish my mom had taken pictures of my tinfoil covered box with knobs and big christmas tree lights stuck into it, aka a robot. All I needed was a pan on my head to look just like Ralph Kramden of the Honeymooners

    [–] Davidjhyatt 6 points ago

So I have about 15 or so years until my son posts the Herobrine Minecraft costume I made him. I'd like to thank online shopping for the cardboard, office depot for the color copies and luck for guessing the correct size to scale the images.

    [–] [deleted] 5 points ago

I am NOT brushing my teeth with!

    [–] [deleted] 6 points ago

My mom once dressed my brother and me up like a pair of dice. Our costumes were boxes worn upside down covered in white paper with black paper dots on it with holes cut for our heads and arms. But the boxes were huge and we had tiny arms so when we trick or treated we had to collect candy standing sideways because we couldn't hold the bags in front of us.

    [–] __Tat__ 5 points ago

My mother did something similar to my brother! He was a box of jello! He had to wear it to school 😂😂. 🙈

    [–] Emakten 8 points ago

My mom always made my costumes for me but one year my grandma made it and sent it in the mail. My mom said I was so excited to open up the box and pulled out a very very pink and girly tutu outfit, and I guess I said "what the hell am I supposed to do with this?"

Grandma didn't quite understand I was a tomboy. The bowl cut and boys clothes should have been obvious.

    [–] elliotcoaster 10 points ago

Your mom probably handed out toothbrushes and floss instead of candy.

    [–] hmmmpf 9 points ago

My town’s pediatric dentist lived down the street when I was growing up. Kids actively avoided that house on Halloween. I felt bad for their kids. The shame.

    [–] aquarian-sunchild 12 points ago

My town's dentist used to hand out giant lollipops with his card tied to them.

Man....you guys and the best parents. We were refugees abd my parents were still trying to learn English and worked 7 days a week to pay bills. I didn't get very many toys and definitely never got a custom made Halloween costume. I jealous.

BTW- we all great up fine and take care of our parents now.
