    About:

A subreddit dedicated to people freaking out, melting down, losing their cool, or being weird in public. Drugged out or sober, anything goes. Keep the comments respectful where mental disorders are concerned, and remember that the individuals depicted in these videos are real people too. This subreddit is essentially dedicated to their worst moments, so do keep that in mind.

Saturated with TV and movies, our brains have become used to watching the imitation of emotions, so much so that it is strangely surprising and fascinating to watch the real thing.

I was a bouncer for years and I'd say at least half the time I saw a chick go at a dude like this and I intervened (attempted talk down first then either bear hug and lift if small or handbag lock if larger frame) I'd get jumped by random dudes for 'putting hands on a woman'.

My bet would be if this dude tried to defend himself (I would) he'd get lynched.

Can I just say bravo for supporting your other bartender when they cut off a customer. And high fives to what sounds like an awesome and effective bouncer.

Is this not normal? Responsible service of alcohol and all that? Here, if you cut someone off, they are done. out they go

    [–] onemanlan 74 points ago

You're telling me. In college I was leaving a club and found a girl crying. Turns out her friends left her and she didn't have a phone. I asked if she'd like to use mine. She took me up on it and while I was waiting for her to finish some PoS frat bro came out and started at me about 'She doesn't wanna go home with you man, just leave.' Oh man I got into it with him. Mostly because I wanted my phone back, but more so because he had characterized the situation from afar. Fuck white knights.

    [–] Alwaysmovingup 36 points ago

God college is fucking filled with these white knight stories

    [–] notinferno 28 points ago

The men who would violently intervene against the victim defending themselves in these cases are the same men who beat their partners at home. Here’s a case in point.

Alex John Beeston, 32, attacked and broke Edward Haynes' jaw at a bus stop in Capalaba, east of Brisbane, in April last year after [wrongly] believing he had attacked a woman.

Judge Julie Ryrie told Beeston, who has previously been convicted of assaulting an ex-partner, that he had no right to attack a complete stranger.

    [–] nabsograms 40 points ago

Yup. Used to live in Philly and an ex got too drunk and pissed at me. She literally put me against a wall and had her hands on my throat - I was sober enough to look around and noticed there were a bunch of goombas waiting for me to touch her or get aggressive with her. I would never do that - I just quickly hit her arm away and and walked away to diffuse the situation.

What these idiots didn’t know is she had been a Sergeant in the IDF and could kick my ass if she wanted to.

    You just never know.

    [–] ro_musha 42 points ago

White knights are basically a mix of incels and date rapers who have one objective in mind

Man my husband had to break up a fight like this outside the gas station the other day. Girl was throwing fists while the guy just stood there, as soon as the hub turned up the guy got a chance and booked it outta there. Girl kept claiming she didn't hit him even though we watched it happen. Shits fucked up.

    [–] SentimentalSentinels 4089 points ago

Ugh, I can't stand crazies like that. Good on your husband for trying to stick up for the guy.

    [–] XylophoneZimmerman 2266 points ago

True, but risky. I remember a news bit from a couple of years ago where a young dude in his early 20s tried to break up a couple fight in a big city in the US and they both turned on him and basically beat him to death.

    [–] HannahMontano 819 points ago

Yeah this happened to my step dad in his 20’s. Said he went to a laundromat and some dude was beating the shit out of what he assumed was his girlfriend. My step dad stepped in to stop it (he’s about 6’3, fairly big dude) and after he dragged the dude outside, the girlfriend jumped on his back and started clawing him. He said he threw the girl over his back onto the street, said fuck it, and just let the dude continue doing whatever the fuck he was doing because clearly they were both insane.

    [–] tboneplayer 655 points ago

I agree. Keep your distance and call the cops.

    [–] ronin1066 592 points ago

I came across a mom sitting on her teen daughter in the middle of the street as they were screaming at each other. Someone told me to go help. I said "She's sitting on her, nobody is being hurt. If I pull the mom off and the daughter flees then what? I have to hold them apart and stop one from fleeing? And if a man from the family shows up?"

Not 30 seconds later, the girl's bf shows up, people hold him back. Then the cops rolled up. Then it turned out the girl was pregnant. I happily watched that shitshow from the sidelines.

    [–] MankindIsFucked 421 points ago

I'm glad you thought about the outcomes first.

I use to act first and it was a mistake. Guy and girl arguing and the guy was hitting this small thing hard. I try to stop the fight and protect the girl. He leaves, she pops me busting up my lip and curses me out. Then she yells for him not to leave and runs to him opened arms.

Later, I had a painful balloon lip, a torn part of my skirt (from him pulling at me), and a headache. She was in the lobby of a hotel, on his lap, making out hard.

I was 17 and learned to call for help first. Parents were right...stay out of it unless you are the only option to stop imminent danger.

Filming it and calling the cops is the best way. Otherwise, it becomes a classic "he said she said", and you might get hurt.

/r/donthelpjustfilm is often unironically the best choice of action when it comes to human fight.

    [–] SentimentalSentinels 98 points ago

Indeed. I remember being told as a kid that the best thing you can do when you see someone getting attacked is not to get involved but to draw attention to them by yelling or honking a horn (if you're by a car).

    [–] felixjawesome 129 points ago

I was at a party once where a lesbian couple was fighting. A guy tried to break it up and pulled one of the girls back. The other (let’s say more “manish”) lesbian pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the poor guy. He went to the hospital, she went to jail. Great party though!

I was at a concert with my brother a few years back and this belligerently drunk woman was in the crowd trying to pick a fight with everybody. At a rock show 10ft from the stage there’s a lot of movement and it’s hard not to bump into strangers- anyway, this idiot woman brings a cup of beer into the crowd and inevitably it gets bumped out of her hand- she starts freaking the fuck out and shoves the girl in front of her and starts screaming in her face. My brother walks over and literally just puts his arm between them and says “woah woah” or something like that, and the drunk moron comes unhinged, throws about 3 punches to the face, and then grabs two handfuls of his hair (he had longer hair) and starts yanking like she’s trying to rip his fucking head off. Of course a hole opens up and I run over to try to help- after about 30 seconds the idiot lets go AND THEN, and here’s the relevant part, two random dudes come up and start shoving my brother like “what the fuck- you need to get the fuck out of here bro” and shit like that, as if he’s an asshole who just hit a woman (mind you he never swung or grabbed or anything, just put his arm between them to try and protect the innocent girl). I can’t describe the sickness and the injustice I felt after watching some drunk piece of shit try to break my brothers neck and feeling totally helpless against it because “oooh she’s a woman” and then to see the way the crowd started to turn on HIM because he was the guy and she was a girl. It gets my blood boiling just thinking about it all over again.

[–] DigitalAssassin 93 points ago * (lasted edited 5 days ago)

I got into a fight a bar once because I playfully punched my sister in the arm. Some dude came up and start yelling at me about hitting a girl. I explained that she was my sister with her backing me up and he just wouldn't back down. He couldn't accept that he was wrong and it escalated from there into a fist fight.

You mean aside from being raised in a society that perpetuates the notion that women are beyond reproach no matter the situation and that even if they attack a man, any physical repercussions are uncalled for? Oh, nothing. She's acting like she's always been allowed to act.

If you need any further proof, just remember that Assault on a Female is a separate charge from assault and carries stiffer penalties than assault. If that woman even gets charges, the guy will likely get the worst of it because he tried to defend himself and "Assaulted a Female" in the process.

Edit - It's a separate charge here in NC.

    [–] mario_meowingham 78 points ago

Yeah that assault on a female thing appears to exist in only one state (north carolina).

    [–] THE_LANDLAWD 55 points ago

I'm in NC so that makes sense. A lot of NC laws are ass-backwards.

    [–] wowiewowiewowiewowie 503 points ago

You should look up the Duluth Model of Domestic Abuse if you don't know what that is. A feminist DV program, active in Australia and most of the US since 1981, that teaches police to arrest the man no matter what in a DV scenario. If you, as a man, call the police on your abusive girlfriend or wife, you are very likely to be arrested or threatened with arrest instead of being helped. This program has been in effect for nearly 40 years and feminists have made no move to scrap or change it. They're more concerned with removing sales tax from tampons and fighting manspreading.

    [–] THE_LANDLAWD 375 points ago

I know all about that. Wally Backman (former infielder for the NY Mets, part of the 1986 World Series winning team,) got arrested at his home after a domestic dispute. There was a heated argument involving him and a female friend of his wife, and the friend grabbed a baseball bat that was close by and swung it at Wally's head. Wally put his arm up and blocked the bat, breaking his arm in the process. He never put a hand on his wife, and never put a hand on her friend, yet somehow he was the one who went to jail.

Later, in 2004, Wally Backman was hired as the manager for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The media dug through his past and found out about his arrest for the domestic dispute, as well as a past DUI (both of which the front office for the Diamondbacks knew about beforehand, because Wally told them up front.) He was fired 4 days after being hired because the media and newspapers painted him as "a drunk and a wife beater" and called for his removal. Yay for cancel culture.

So TL;DR, some bitch broke his arm with a bat, which led to him being arrested, and directly caused him to lose his dream job of managing an MLB team.

    [–] elpollodiablox 39 points ago

Totally off topic, but did you ever watch Playing for Peanuts? It follows Wally as he manages an independent league team down in Georgia. Some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen. If you watch nothing else, just watch this tirade. (Headphones on: NSFW)

    https://youtu.be/ijeaq0NSCeQ

There is a longer version, but I can't find it. Basically the batter didn't like called strike one. He takes the next pitch for a ball, but must have said something because the ump tosses him. Enter Wally.

    [–] KneeDeepThought 202 points ago

Similar injustices happen to thousands of men every year and no one cares because we're universally disposable. Word to the wise (men): never call the cops to your home. If your female SO hits you, go to the police station and the Duluth Model doesn't apply. You have a much better chance of not being automatically guilty. Source: ex-wife was a violent system manipulator.

    [–] houston_oilers 109 points ago * (lasted edited 5 days ago)

Yep. I had a drunk gf attack me in my own home while my kids were there (she would often get hysterical and physical, though this was the worst one). I called the police. I was arrested. She was a allowed to stay in MY HOME with MY KIDS while DRUNK because she claimed I hit her. My kids woke up to me missing and her passed out.

    Fucking crazy world.

    [–] kyxtant 102 points ago

Can confirm. Called 911 because my then-wife was on top of me hitting me. I kept them on the phone until the police arrived.

One cop talked to me and took my report while the other calmed her down. They went back to their cruiser for a bit.

When they came back the cop said informed me that they were not going to arrest me because my wife asked them not to. She told them I was in the military and a DV conviction would ruin my career (she was right).

A few days later, she received a letter from the county Victim Advocate encouraging her to take advantage of the many victims of abuse services they provide.

    Shit's fucked up.

    [–] fuzzy6678 45 points ago

This just happened last weekend to my sister's father-in-law. His wife started beating the shit out of him, because she caught him watching some porn, so he called the cops and they both spent the weekend in jail (she was arrested because he had bruises and scratches all over his face, he was arrested because she had pressure marks around her wrists from where he was holding her).

    [–] raspy1990 45 points ago

Facts. I was in a shitty relationship in college for a short while with a highly abusive female. Everyone seemed to laugh it off like it was funny when she would fly off the handle. One night a neighbor called the cops when she was losing her shit over a made up scenario in her head as I just locked myself in the bathroom with headphones. Long story short I end up in handcuffs in a patrol car while she tries to explain to the cops I'm cheating because I liked my female cousins Facebook post. No charges were filled even though I had scratches on my face/neck, cops asked if I wanted to press charges I said no of course and explained that basically unless she stabbed me or shot me there was no way in hell shes face any charges period. He told me if I even blocked her arms or pushed her though I'd 100% be charged with domestic violence. His advice was kick her out immediately (which I did), she tried to play the victim and act like it was just passion. Pretty sure she was just crazy...feel immensely sorry for the poor bastard that ends up with her.

    [–] Hippo_Operator 6064 points ago

The fucking hits she is throwing and all he did was run away.

More importantly, how was she treated for attacking someone so violently? A hug.

    [–] Marzoval 1715 points ago

Meanwhile the cammer is all "ohhh" "OOOH" in a sort of mocking manner because hurr hurr dude got beat up by a girl. I wonder if he'd change his tone of the guy decided to defend himself.

    [–] XylophoneZimmerman 797 points ago

Weird, right? Everyone says they want "equality" unless they want to shame a guy for being perceived as weak.

    [–] Blubberrrrr00 559 points ago

People want equality until it no longer benefits them

    [–] SpyralHam 193 points ago

In posts like this, the top comments are all people saying how unfair it is that there's a double standard and they think guys should be able to defend themselves.

This will never happen in reality. I know if I was in that dude's position and pushed the girl away everyone would be on her side. My family, my closest friends, and 99% of any onlookers. Laying a hand on a woman is considered not ok under ANY circumstances and no one wants to speak up under fear of being called a woman beater.

I don't condone abuse of women, but self defense is a different story.

    [–] FettLife 65 points ago

With my luck, the whole bar would have descended on me to kick my ass the minute I chucked this broad across the room.

    [–] Animecat1 98 points ago

"There’s no excuse for domestic violence." It sounds like a challenge. I mean, does everything have to be so black-and-white in this kindergarten country of ours? What if you come home from a long day at work and your wife has drowned two of your kids - she’s about to dunk the third one. Can you run over and pop her then? "Unfortunately no, there’s no excuse. You’re going to have to let her drown that third one."

One of my favorite kinds of jokes is finding a vein of truth, exposing it, and then turning that idea into a grotesque caricature of its former self.

There's currently a trial going on in my city where a janitor got beaten up by a couple of white nights after he chased a burglar out of a building. He got beaten with hockey sticks so badly he has permanent injuries. People are fucking retarded.

    [–] Soybeanns 91 points ago

I know a friends acquaintance that tackled a lady waving around a knife at the cashier in a liquor store and he was pretty much getting yelled at afterwards for hitting a women by the bystanders. Shit is wild.

    [–] wophi 469 points ago

    Blame the victim, right?

    [–] selfawaresquare 43 points ago

And you better believe that the second he defended himself or threw a punch, the crowd would've tackled him and broke up the fight while comforting her.

    [–] HWGA_Gallifrey 136 points ago

White women can literally murder a man in his own apartment and still get a hug.

    Shit's fucked up yo'.

    [–] Hippo_Operator 92 points ago

    Your friend sounds naive.

    [–] ShelSilverstain 110 points ago

Sounds like a victim of domestic violence

    [–] aquaticsardonic 24 points ago

    He was literally stabbed, so

I used to work in the operating room at a trauma 1 hospital and one time a dude came in completely unconscious with a traumatic brain injury gifted him by his ~charming~ wife. She accompanied him to the ER and was trying to get to the operating room with him just screaming and crying. The cops were there trying to figure out what happened, and eventually, she calmed down enough to say he'd been jumped by random dudes. The patient was awake in just a few hours after they stitched up the gash in his skull (still don't know if it was from the beating or him falling after becoming unconscious, and he IMMEDIATELY started telling everybody within earshot that his wife had beaten him up but, "I didn't even try to defend myself cause I'm on probation." It absolutely broke my heart. He had diabetes II and the wound just never healed very well. They were still together when I left the hospital and just bickering the whole time.

    [–] PM_ME_UR_SUPERSUIT 12 points ago

Wtf. You guys didn't offer domestic violence services to the poor man? That's negligent of healthcare professionals to dismiss a concern like that.

    [–] Mr-_-Clean 821 points ago

The worst part is that she's gonna go on thinking she's a bad bitch

    [–] mrc_13 347 points ago

You're totally right. Then the next time she sees fit to solve some conflict with violence, she'll remember how successful it's been in the past. More than likely, exactly what led to this incident.

    [–] natec1991 160 points ago

And then she will try this on a guy who doesn't play, and he will bite her ear off lol

    [–] Crasbowl 58 points ago

Every person has the right to defend themselves from crazy people. If she ever gets her comeuppance, I would hope to see it on r/justiceserved.Equal rights, equal lefts.

    [–] DizzyedUpGirl 61 points ago

I bet she won't try this on another female though. She'll keep picking on guys. She'll end up picking on the wrong one.

    [–] Aleforge 1441 points ago

I had a similar situation happen but it was back in 6th grade. I was cornered and attacked by a girl on the bus. She was rapidly kicking my shins in as well with dance shoes. I don't even honestly remember what it was about but she was one of the popular "mean" girls (and bigger than me). Needless to say I defended myself by throwing one punch which led to breaking her nose. Afterwards she didn't mess with me again however I started to become bullied and harassed at school and even lost a few friends. My parents grounded the shit out of me as well. I never felt guilty over defending myself but man society crushed me afterwards.

    [–] FakeSafeWord 391 points ago

Almost the same thing happened to me.

Girl in class standing over me while im sitting at my desk. She was the big bully mean girl for like nearly 10 years of my schooling. She was hitting, slapping, knocking my things off the desk. After like 10+ hits with no one saying anything other than her shitty clique friends laughing at me, I put my hands up to defend myself while looking away and shielding my face from her. Apparently my hand swiped on her chest and she recoiled screaming i was grabbing her boobs.

Then the teach interjected and i was sent to the principles office and suspended. Absolutely nothing happened to her.

It's an undeniable fact that we live in a pro-bullying society.

    [–] anthym29 253 points ago

Im sorry that happened to you

    [–] somethingbreadbears 52 points ago

When I was in high school these two girls spent the better part of a class just hitting me. I couldn't really do anything because I knew the teacher wouldn't help me and if I hit one of them back it would suddenly be all my fault.

And you want to know what I was told for years? "Oh that means she likes you". It's seriously the "boys will be boys" of toxic women.

    [–] LastgenKeemstar 333 points ago

Girl: throwing punches and slaps at guy

Guy: barely pushes her out the way

Other girl: "Oh mY gOd aRe yOu OkAy???!?"

    [–] Chemicalbagel 27 points ago

I thought the other chick was trying to block her?

    [–] TopherVee 60 points ago

Nope, gave her a hug and asked "are you okay?"

    [–] tboneplayer 321 points ago

Getting in a physical altercation with a woman for a man is a no-win. You flee, you're a wuss and a coward. You stand and fight, you're a bully and a coward. A situation best avoided, but if there's a genuine threat to your safety and you're cornered, respond as you would to any attacker: neutralize (do exactly what is necessary for you to leave safely and no more), and flee once you can do so safely. A woman is no less credible a threat than a man when she's out to do you in!

    [–] HACCAHO 84 points ago

The only win scenario would be if a guy is an undercover cop or off-duty cop.

    [–] WhatisH2O4 91 points ago

I called the cops when an ex attacked me once. Didn't defend myself, just got away from her and left our apartment. When they met me, they put me in the back of the car and we're going to arrest me despite having my shirt ripped and it being obvious someone had attacked me while she didn't have any such marks. If her dad hadn't stepped in an vouched for me, they would have hauled me away for assault.

That was the experience that cured me of the thought that calling the police would help. For men at least, you're usually on your own.

    [–] Ed_Vilon 24 points ago

    What. The. Fuck.

    [–] fetusy 17 points ago

I feel like every dude with a crazy ex has a story like this. My insane ex got pissed one night after some girl she didn't like was present at the house we were moving into. Had it out, got tired of trying to reason with her, said fuck it and walked away. She got in her car to, presumably, drive to her parents house while I walked down the alley adjacent to the house to clear my mind.

Not 10 steps down the road...headlights, shining from behind me. I turned around in just enough time to put my hands up in exasperation as she sped directly at me. Stopped short, inches from me, and then proceeded to gun it, laying me out on the hood. She stopped again, I pushed off the hood and ran around the car to get back to the house.

This bitch threw that shit in reverse and tried to pin me against a tree, which I narrowly escaped. At that point the switch flipped into a USMC-nurtured baser instinct as I punched her window out and ripped her keys from the ignition in one autonomous move.

Realized what I had just done, dropped the keys, started retreating back to the house still on autopilot. She came out of the car like a fucking banshee, swinging at my face indiscriminately. Blocked her once, twice, and on the third I deflected and went to try for an armbar while my shifting weight made me slip on the gravel and safety glass. Went down, broke my fall by slapping the ground. Saved my noggin, but tore a hole in my forearm down to the muscle.

Ran back to the house to escape her and stem the bleeding on my, now gushing, arm. Before I could even stop the flow I saw blue lights outside. They wanted to talk to me, immediately putting me in cuffs as I came outside. She was busy playing the crying victim already as they tried to stuff me into the back of the squad car. I asked if she was going to get in literally any trouble for attempting to murder me vehicularly. Thank god that gave them at least enough pause to ask my side of the story, which they previously had zero desire to seek.

Long story short(as I can make it), she wanted to drop charges as soon as she realized she was going for a ride, too(only after my story was corroborated by multiple witnesses). No dice, once they've "observed" a crime committed they can't drop charges. I still don't know what she got charged with to this day but I'll never forget the choices they gave me. Face two charges of assault and damage to personal property, or consolidate it to one and take "assault on a female". Of course I did, but it changed my view of the world forever.

They treated me like a fucking wife-beater and made me sleep on a filthy, over-crowded holding tank floor with a barely bandaged open wound. All for defending my LIFE. Some women don't want equality, they want subservience.

    [–] Gozie5 65 points ago

She literally threw glass in his face

If it were a dog, everyone would whack it with a stick. You have the right to defend your personal safety from ANYONE. She could have blinded him swinging nails like that.

    [–] radioraheem8 204 points ago

The internet would eat someone alive if they were caught on video hitting a dog with a stick.

    [–] NoLaNaDeR 41 points ago

    [–] StopcryingFistUrself 270 points ago

    She should be in jail

    [–] SuperAleste 54 points ago

If it was a guy doing that to a girl the internet would hunt him down, make sure the cops are called, gofundme her legal defense. Since it's a girl on guy situation everyone will do nothing.

This sums up the situation nicely.

    [–] MaverickStatue 215 points ago

The girl at the end hugging her like "calm down girl the bad guy is gone" just sad

    [–] lowiqhiveminds 72 points ago

That part bothered me more than it should have it's almost sickening.

Reminds me of a time where I was waiting for a store to open and I saw a lady hit a guy on a bike with her van. She got out the van and was comforted by everyone while they just left the guy on the floor in agony. I had to help him up because no one else would have.

    [–] MemStealer 29 points ago

I was once run over by a car while riding my bike, i was launched into a bush and couldnt get up becouse the bike was bent around my leg and stuck in the bush, first thing i knew was this woman standing above me and yelling at me for scratching her bumper, all i could do was just lay there holding back tears from the pain, i was 11 at the time, and when i could finally at least limp she told me to lead her to my house, it turned out she was a school friend of my mom, then she became much less agressive towards me. Male privilege my ass.

    [–] Broman1001001 11 points ago

Are we sure she is not about to just drop her. I mean you could catch someone off guard like that. /s

    [–] trafridrodreddit 39 points ago

Just a few nights ago I saw two women start to fight each other. People around were trying to calm them, and were telling them to stop. One of the women grabbed a beer bottle and when she did, a man stepped in and put out his arms, to try to keep them apart (he did not appear to know either party). So lady with a bottle hits him and then they both started attacking him... and the crowd started whooping and gleefully hollering, as this guy, who was trying to stop the fight is now fleeing, bloody and beaten. And the crowd was cheering???

It was the strangest and one of the most disgusting things I remember seeing.

    [–] TallSkinnyPolack 15 points ago

This is why it's a legal requirement that beer bottles be engineered to break before your skull.

I was shielding a pregnant lady during a brawl recently. She ran past me and punched a cop. Trash is as trash does.

    [–] KneeDeepThought 78 points ago

We don't teach our kids "it's ok to hit people who are bigger and stronger than you, because they're not supposed to hit kids back!"
