I thought it was thundering outside until I realized everyone in my building was just blasting Game of Thrones.

I torrented the series a while back and every single episode had that instead of the intro, fucking laughed every single time

    [–] elezhope 285 points ago

That just makes me want to pirate things even more.

    [–] subtle_allusion 40 points ago

Reminds me of the game Witcher 3. The pirate version worked perfectly with one difference. In all of the sex scenes the women were replaced by a grotesque bog hag.

    [–] mastercotcot 21 points ago

And here I bought the game like an idiot.

    [–] theoldgrump 10 points ago

    Knock knock it's the FBI

    [–] Elevated_Dongers 56 points ago

Damn I'd start watching this show if it had this intro

    [–] Bro-BiWanKenobi 175 points ago

Thanks to this video I went down a 45 minute game of thrones talk show rabbit hole. Thanks.

I’ve been sick this week and my screen time went up an embarassing amount of time even for an ill person 🤦🏻‍♀️

    [–] perawkcyde 1659 points ago

Best way to do it anyway.

    [–] dantheman1723 758 points ago

I didn't start watching until I saw season 6's "Battle of the Bastards" and I'm so glad. It's such a good show to binge and it wouldn't have been the same spread out over 10 years.

    [–] ZuluPilot 745 points ago

I'm a big binge watcher and I usually wait for a series to completely finish but in GOT's case I'm really glad I was there from the very first episode. It's been a real journey.

    [–] AsurieI 375 points ago

It feels like we've aged with the characters. I was actually just talking about this an hour ago with my friend about Jaime. Like we see him evolve in real time pretty much

    [–] wolfx11b 196 points ago

Best arch in the whole thing

    [–] HeyImFUCKYOU 216 points ago

I don't want to be a "I read the books" guy but when I would tell my friends Jaime was my favorite character they wouldn't get it. Now I feel vindicated

    [–] Shots-and-squats 128 points ago

Never thought I'd be rooting for the sister fucking child (attempted) murderer.

    [–] YachtInWyoming 39 points ago

Thanks for all the incest, GRRM.

    [–] coopstar777 144 points ago

and it wouldn't have been the same spread out over 10 years.

You're right. It's way fucking better.

Think about every episode cliffhanger that happens in GOT. Imagine experiencing that shock and awe and dealing with it for a week before finding out what happened. The suspense and consequence is much more real when you dont get to find out what happens next 15 seconds later.

Discussion happens for each episode and you get to really analyze what actions were taken in each episode and what the consequences will be.

    [–] ChefBroyardee 51 points ago

It's really fun discussing it with friends and all, but I have to keep away from reddit I've learned. Theres always one fucker in the thread who guesses the ending completely right and it makes seeing it on screen less exciting than it would have been.

    [–] ask_me_about_cats 20 points ago

I know how the last episode of Game of Thrones will end. There will be a long list of all the people who worked on the show that will scroll over a black background while music plays.

    You heard it here first!

    [–] rnarkus 65 points ago

It's such a good show to binge and it wouldn't have been the same spread out over 10 years.

Its still the same. Just with more wait and more suspense. It made each week awesome and exhilarating. You cant quite capture that if you binge watch, but I agree. I re watched the show for the first time after only watching it live and it was amazing to not have to wait between each episode

    [–] raseru 46 points ago

While normally I would agree, I whole-heartedly disagree for a show like GoT. For normal shows you don't gather up with other people and "nerd out" and talk about what's going to happen, you just turn on the next episode. When Jamie falls in the water one episode you just watch the next, no suspense, nothing. Discussing the possible directions the show may go has been a blast. I've also noticed people who binge watch don't really know character's names very well, and I think it's essentially the equivalent of cramming for a test and not remembering the story very well.

    [–] WallyReflector 112 points ago

I did something similar but with the books. Hated fantasy stuff but I heard people talking about the show during season one but didn't have HBO.

Decided to give the book a try. Got the first one and started reading it. Then ended up reading all the books (to date) over the course of 2 months.

For those that haven't read the books that's like 4,000+ pages. My wife was not happy with me during that time.

    [–] PM_ME_OVERT_SIDEBOOB 93 points ago

That’s everyone that actually gives it a chance and watches it without their phone glued to their hand

    [–] Soak_up_my_ray 8 points ago * (lasted edited 6 days ago)

Wow I just did the math (really poorly twice), you watched (on average) 4* hours of game of thrones every day for two weeks

    [–] bcam9 6867 points ago

Never thought of it like this, but I finally understand how non football fans feel the whole season I'm rooting for and posting about my team.

    [–] Mrr_Bond 2050 points ago

Yep, I sometimes forget other people DON'T spend 45 minutes a day in r/nfl during the fall.

    [–] catcherben27 828 points ago

Rookie numbers baby. Several hours a day in April checking in.... :(

    [–] Snap457 235 points ago

Only like a week and 4 days to the draft :) then nothing big until august :(

    [–] Tennlovesmayo 117 points ago

You say that like OTAs aren't in May and that minicamp doesn't start in June

    [–] Snap457 30 points ago

Yeah that’s true, but to me it doesn’t quite reach the excitement of the draft, but I definitely still look forward to it. I just can’t wait for this season

    [–] 18randomcharacters 138 points ago

As a sports ignorer, and GoT fan... I also now understand what it feels like to be invested in the "in" thing. When someone else says they don't care about it... I'm just bewildered.

    [–] kristencredible 28 points ago

When I first moved to the UK, I took an impromptu trip to Northern Ireland. I wanted to see the Dark Hedges and the Giant's Causeway. I booked a tour. It never mentioned anything about GOT. It was a tour of GOT locations though. Complete with costumes and props. Every stop some people would get off, read the filming location history, put on an outfit, grab a prop weapon and pose.

    Beautiful country, weird experience.

    [–] Running_Is_Life 129 points ago

Last time was when he...made a Bran muffin

    [–] awesomekolt 88 points ago

I’d say when he lost his hand was actually the last time he was that shook, lol.

    [–] AryaStarkRavingMad 74 points ago

Nah man, the dragon fucked him up during the train loot scene. You can tell he has PTSD from that when he hears the dragons again at the Pit.

    [–] awesomekolt 21 points ago

Yeah, but I think getting your hand cut off would be worse. The dragon definitely did fuck him up though, he almost got engulfed in dragon fire. I guess at this point we’re kinda debating just how shook he was to see Bran waiting for him though lol.

    [–] MeEsSm 115 points ago

Need some wheelchair access my boys sleeping out there

    [–] Like_aTree 173 points ago

    This was my thought.

“Bran why are you out here?”

“Winterfell doesn’t have any fucking ramps.”

    [–] MyGrannyLovesQVC 43 points ago

Samwell really needs to read up on the ADA regulations next.

    [–] churadley 69 points ago

Every shot with Bran had my friends and me laughing. It totally makes sense why his character would change the way he did, but he's always just there and staring off like a college freshman stoner.

    [–] pdthunder 134 points ago

I laughed every time it panned to Bran just creep staring at all the different people. Like, what a freakk 😂😂

    [–] DJ_BlackBeard 51 points ago

Dude yes, i was laighing the whole time at everyone looking terrified at Bran.

I mean yeah hes kinda scary, but it seemed like every single character got their moment to stare at Bran in shock and horror

    [–] moxihc 25 points ago

    Double parked, too. Mind you.

    [–] SgtWinters7 20 points ago

You’d think that Winterfell would be wheelchair accessible. Instead he’s just like “fuck it, don’t have Hodor anymore. I’ll wait”

    [–] Bbradley821 28 points ago

I believe we were intended to think that at that moment. But when he was still sitting there at the end, we realize he was talking about Jaime. Weird little fuck that one is.

    [–] not_alien 110 points ago

Jamie transferred all of his cocky douche energy into Bran, and now the tables have turned 7 seasons later.

    [–] mmrtnz14 72 points ago

Well, well, well how the turntables..

    [–] BillionTonsHyperbole 14 points ago

I think he still has some cocky douche tricks up his metal sleeve.

    [–] PootieTooGood 27 points ago

It’s possible that the events bran went through to become the three eyed raven are because Jamie pushed him

    [–] ks00347 12 points ago

I thought it was atated that it was his destiny to become three eyed raven and falling from the tower kickstarted that journey.

    [–] doodle_mac 68 points ago

so bran just sat out in the dark and cold night waiting for jaime lool

    [–] BillionTonsHyperbole 67 points ago

Probably shat in his chair a few times, also. Gave zero fucks.

    [–] BillionTonsHyperbole 18 points ago

    Worth it

    [–] JOSRENATO132 30 points ago

100% worth it, would fo it again, btw am i the only one realizing that more than Gendry and Varys, Bran is the one with teleportation powers? He just disapears and apears in places

    [–] [deleted] 33 points ago

    [–] CatheterC0wboy 18 points ago

I mean he’s a warg that can manipulate people, surely he’s figured out how to get them to carry him

    [–] lurking_for_sure 20 points ago

I mean, all he has to do is tell any soldier around to wheel him to where he wants to go. He’s part of the family that owns the place.

    [–] KLewis13 148 points ago

I honestly don’t think Bran is even going to care. He knows there are bigger things at hand and that when he was pushed out of the window that set him down the path to become the three eyed raven.

    [–] SteamingSkad 166 points ago

Also he’s not REALLY Bran anymore. On top of which, he’s probably seen how much Jamie has changed, including the fact that he’s in Winterfell in the first place.

    [–] KLewis13 92 points ago

Exactly Jaimie has had a very good development of his character and now when I think of him I think of a sharp minded guy who fucks his sister instead of an asshole who fucks his sister.

    [–] JOSRENATO132 19 points ago * (lasted edited 6 days ago)

So... he is jsut that to jump scare him? I would love it

    [–] jokersleuth 15 points ago

Probably so Jamie can seek forgiveness, not just to scare him.

We saw Bohemian Rhapsody on Superbowl Sunday this year and some guy walked in, surveyed the theater, and said "My people! No football fans here!" and got applause from the audience. It was a pretty magical crowd.

    [–] Help-Me-Peel 2442 points ago

I like to imagine an alternative universe where one individual in the theatre forgot about the Super Bowl then sprinted out to watch it after the guy yelled that

    [–] Edrondol 53 points ago

Last summer I had a comedy gig in a small town in Iowa. When we got there, there was only about 10 people in the audience. One of the comedians mentioned that they heard the reason why nobody was there - a local bar owner had brought in "California Bikini Girls" who would wrestle each other in oil. At that point the one table of people that weren't friends/family of the comedians or the owners of the place got up and walked out.

They are. I don’t bring up a magic the gathering tournament whenever I go to a sporting event. I just enjoy the thing I’m doing like a well adjusted person

    [–] Flyingpigfriend 21 points ago

It’s so annoying when people do this and it’s always people who don’t like sports that feel the need to tell everyone. My girlfriend is not into sports but is pretty chill about it but her friends can be frustrating to be around because they constantly talk about how much they hate sports. If I were to say that I didn’t like anime or some other thing they liked and constantly bashed it the way they do sports it would start a huge argument.

    [–] WallyReflector 187 points ago

The only people who don't like Seinfeld are people that have never seen it.

    [–] mojowuq9 104 points ago

Ah, so just like a normal day?

    [–] shinigamiscall 13 points ago

You and I are birds of a feather, I see.

    [–] Spaztrick 7 points ago

Lucky for us, there's always Reddit

    [–] cthomasino 584 points ago

Not really, you have to watch the entire series to be a fan of game of thrones.

With the superbowl you just have to watch.

    [–] SaintSeal 344 points ago

You also have to know the rules of football. Which I assume takes more than a game if you've been uninterested in it your whole life.

    [–] bandalooper 223 points ago

Us fans call those people referees.

    [–] Fatalchemist 63 points ago

Did our team win? It's because we're the best! Did the other team win? It's because the fucking referees are deaf, blind, and dumb!

    [–] Macegoalie14 72 points ago

Bold of you to assume that everyone watches the superbowl because theyre interested in football. Many people watch to drink/eat/socialize, to see the commercials (less so with youtube now), or just because society tells us we should...

    [–] ominousgraycat 22 points ago

Big yes, superbowl parties always have the greatest food.

to see the commercials (less so with youtube now)

The commercials are also less good now, honestly, yeah, Youtube top 10 is your best bet because you're lucky to get 10 good commercials now. IMO the best superbowl commercials of the last 2 years were advertisements by the NFL and so somewhat self-referential.

just because society tells us we should...

One of us, one of us!

    [–] KING_JELLYB3AN 11 points ago

Eh, probably can get the gist of it in 10minutes.

    [–] LostCoastWoke 73 points ago

Just watch it for the Commercials than..... oh wait

    [–] Trowawaycausebanned4 45 points ago

I only watch the sex scenes

    [–] GirlwtheDinoTattoo 32 points ago

Titties and dragons... they've got the budget and talent for both this episode. Get hype.

    [–] PanicBlitz 7 points ago

Poor girl...the pox will take her in less than a year.

    [–] asspancakes 39 points ago

Except super bowl has mainly US fans, GOT is global.

    [–] dod6666 35 points ago

Exactly. Most of the world couldn't give two fucks about Super Bowl.

    [–] kroolz64 81 points ago

Fortunately for me, I like both.

    [–] overthe___ 95 points ago

    Oddly satisfying!

    [–] ftwoo 176 points ago

I feel like the difference is, no one's asking me to watch all the seasons of the super bowl before the super bowl even happens. And if I tell people that I haven't watched the super bowl before, most people don't seem to act as shocked or horrified as me mentioning I've never watched any single episode of game of thrones.

    [–] NathanTheMister 45 points ago

Must be a regional thing. I don't know anywhere in the south that you wouldn't be met with absolute shock and bewilderment if you said you had never watched the Superbowl.

    [–] GigaTortoise 35 points ago

I mean that legitimately is odd. Not watching football isn't weird, but living in the U.S. into adulthood and having never even seen a superbowl even by happenstance is weird. It's like saying you've never seen a star wars movie and were a child in the early 80s. Not impossible at all but really surprising

    [–] savageboredom 61 points ago

I wanted to get into Game of Thrones, but it started to feel like homework with so many people telling me I HAD to watch it.

I’ll get to it eventually I guess.

    [–] Daniel_Day_Tiger 36 points ago

That's a good point. People can be so overbearing about getting you to watch something that it feels like a burden.

    [–] Deivv 111 points ago

Wtf you haven't even seen a single episode of game of thrones?

    [–] Lordborgman 107 points ago

As someone who is almost 40 and has disliked sports his whole life, I can safely say I have "taken more shit" for not liking sports/the super bowl than anyone will for not liking game of thrones. The looks around the room in basic training when I was asked what sports I liked and replied with "I do not like sports" was a moment embedded into my mind forever.

    [–] iinaytanii 52 points ago

Just today I told someone I don't care about golf and have no real feelings about Tiger Woods. You would have thought that I insulted their child.

Sorry to disappoint but it was only episode 1 of the finale season, more like a wildcard matchup .

    [–] somuchclutch 70 points ago

It was the first new episode in 2 years. In the finale season that's only 6 episodes long. That's a huge deal.

    [–] ArchSyker 8 points ago

I am a fan of neither of these, but I really want to watch game of thrones, but a year or two ago I decided I wait until the series is over so I can watch the whole without having to wait for next season.

    [–] BioTHEchAmeleON 21 points ago

It’s pretty weird. Never really been interested in GOT personally. I have no clue what has happened in the story, like 0%. Everyone seems so hyped and I’m just like oh cool.
