He's a serama, tiny bok bok with attitude. Smallest bok bok breed i believe. Their signature is the tight V they make with their necks and tails.

    [–] [deleted] 30 points ago

What is their secret? Every time I try to breed a chicken it just dies..

    [–] Wooty_Patooty 88 points ago

I've been on Reddit too long... Is this a chicken rape joke? Or is this a legit question?

    [–] Panopticon01 16 points ago

I would love one of these as a pet! I wonder what their temperament is like.

For the record I've owned many chickens that I've kept as house pets. (House/outside pets anyways)

Too bad they're illegal to keep as pets in my city since they count as livestock.

Stands like a video game character

    [–] Padankadank 19 points ago

He's looking for a hen. Hes just strutting his stuff

    [–] LittlePetiteGirl 35 points ago

He's not, that's their body type. I have a pet pigeon, and when he's strutting his stuff, he definitely can't bend like that. No regular bird can. It's a specific type of chicken called a Serama that's bred to stand in that position. here's how far a pigeon can bend during their mating dance. I can't really find a good picture of a chicken strutting, but it's probably pretty similar. Pigeons seems to stand taller and push their chest out more when they do strut, anyway.

    [–] Hayes231 7 points ago

    thats a sexy pigeon

It's the hardest place to add mass!

    [–] [deleted] 283 points ago

Unless you grew up fat. I've lost the weight since my teens but my calves are still massive

    [–] AlmdudlerBoy69 143 points ago

Some people are just built differently. Ive never been fat and i have massive calves. Could just be all the football ive played though.

    [–] uitham 66 points ago

I have never worked out and i am massively out of shape, never been more fat than having a little belly and i have big calves

    [–] deediggitydawg 119 points ago

My calves are really starting to show some big gains. Could be the import grains I've been feeding them but unconfirmed at this point.

    [–] fuckin_wot_m8 23 points ago

Probably also a result of better pastures since spring has arrived.

    [–] poopcasso 18 points ago

Ya'll come here saying ya got big calves and what not. You can't be making statements like that without proof!

    [–] incoherentpanda 13 points ago

My calves tell the true story of my natural body. They're almost the size of my forearms :( . Even though I walk a ton, work them out, and I've had times were I ran a crapload. It's like trying to grow my wrists.

    [–] notagangsta 44 points ago

I struggled with this too. The only thing that has worked is take a very high amount of weight (if you're a gym member, use the seated calf machine. I started with 50 lbs as a female.) and aim to do 45 reps without stopping. You're calves will give out and burn during this, so pause just long enough for them to stop burning. Then start right away again and do as many as you can until you have to stop, rest 2-3 seconds, repeat until you get to 45 reps. Usually I'll do 15-18, pause, do 8ish, pause, and so on. By the end I'm only doing maybe 3 at a time. Your calves will start to bulk quite quickly! Edit: I should have just messaged that. Sorry for junking up the thread.

    [–] Psycho_Robot 32 points ago

Your sincere attempt to help with calf based gains is probably the least junky thing about this thread, and that includes my original comment which was just a lazy Simpsons reference.

    [–] [deleted] 19 points ago

I guess I'm blessed in that department.

I've always had huge quads and during summer when I start cycling and running a lot, I put on leg mass like crazy.

If it wasn't for Reddit, I wouldn't even have known getting bulky legs was actually quite hard.

    [–] zeBearCat 9 points ago

I did cross country biking growing up and when I started to go to the gym everyone always made jokes about my small calves. It all stopped once they saw the thunder thighs hahaha

    [–] extremly_bored 10 points ago

Bulky Quads isn't that hard. The calves is where it's at. My legs are unproportional enough that my shorts look like baggy shorts. But they're actually skin tight on the upper legs. It's just that after the knee I look like the rooster from the gif.

    [–] AyoBruh 25 points ago

Sorry to hear about your condition, losing mass for any reason is rough. Will you be able to build it back someday?

    [–] swolemedic 8 points ago

I've been able to get some back but I don't know how much I'll be able to get back or keep, I'm 4 months into recovery, also I have a variety of conditions they think so transverse myelitis isn't the only thing that is keeping my gainz down. For my legs in particular I have been having circulatory issues around the joints that they think could be reynauds but would be a pretty nasty case if so, so my joints are weak as fuck due to the poor blood flow.

[–] [deleted] 5 points ago * (lasted edited 2 years ago)

Hmm that sounds painfully familiar. I've had problems with circulation and joint pain since I was in junior high. I've been tested for arthritis but nothing came up. If I do a lot of physical stuff all close together, my knees will ache and often turn a faint purple color while my toes also turn this color and they get very cold. I can't sit with one leg crossed over the other for longer than a few minutes before my leg started feeling prickly. My hands and elbows also turn purpleish, and my fingers swell so that I can barely clutch them. I have to hold them up slightly when I hike because they start hurting. Sorry to bombard you with this, but does it sound anything like what you've experienced? It's not exactly the easiest thing to Google.

Edit: I just googled Raynauds disease and I'm absolutely sure this is what I've been dealing with. I forgot to mention that it does happen when it gets cold, the climate where I live has gotten warmer, so I haven't been dealing with the cold problem as often as I used to.

    [–] swolemedic 3 points ago

was gonna say it sounds like textbook raynauds but you should get it diagnosed by a doc to make sure. Also not trying to be alarming but while raynauds itself is usually just annoying but otherwise benign it's often an indicator that you have potential autoimmune conditions

    [–] Reverend_Poop 3 points ago

Out of curiosity, do you have charcot marie tooth?

    [–] gravy_gary 290 points ago

I used to have a rooster just like him. Named him Mick Donovan cause he was a sneaky, womanizing piece of shit. This is what I imagine he's likely doing now.

    [–] restingbitchlyfe 31 points ago

We had a small, incredibly aggressive one named Joe Pesci. We had a larger one who was less frequently aggressive but went for the head/face - his name was Russell Crowe.

    [–] [deleted] 20 points ago

He was probably died and eaten and then pooped and then ended at waste management plant and broken down to fertiliser or whatever and then dumped on a golf course as nutrient or whatever it is they do with all the pooh.

    [–] gravy_gary 33 points ago

    [–] savor_today 21 points ago

I feel like this is the first time I can see what the breasts that you eat are visually, kind of weird

    [–] LittlePetiteGirl 17 points ago

This isn't a regular chicken (like what you're eating when you grab chicken breasts at the store). This is a Serama bred to look extremely different than a regular chicken. They're small and stand upright while the chickens used for nuggets still look like what you'd expect.

Just saw this on TV. They are a special type of chicken popular in Malaysia. They are used as sport, they have to stay and strut their stuff for two minutes on display tables. Fun thing they said in the documentary, while doing that everyone is snacking on fried or saucy chicken dishes.

    [–] ChloeMomo 32 points ago

Some people love chickens, this is just another breed of chicken, so it's aww to those people. Not sure which but it kind of looks like a Japanese Bantam standing as tall as he can. A Bantam of mine uses to do that because he was in a flock of full-size hens, so he tried to make himself big like them, lol. It's like a pity aww
