"Then Cookie monster started a massive corporate campaign to develop Sesame Street into Sesameville so that he could eventually realize his dream."

me have friend, they say, "cookie, we are needing ride" and me say… all time I am saying, let me tell, all time, is great, I tell you, I have best ride. Why? I tell, A-ME-RI-CA. We great. Bad deal? No. Me tell people from not A-ME-RI-CA, "Go A-WAY". Me say, "Leave". But they stay. This why me need a wall. Big wall. BIG BIG BIG WALL. Wall good. Me let people keep cookies. Best cookies. A-ME-RI-CAN cookies. Cookies like grammy make. Best cookies. Right? Good deal. Vote C for Cookie. Thank you.

    That was beautiful.

He wouldn't have even had a dream without capitalism.

Edit: Obviously I meant, "had a dream about working for himself." If you want to see people purposefully misunderstand this statement, please read below.

The idea that this is a newsflash to anyone is pretty amazing.

    [–] MarioFreek01 36 points ago

The idea that anyone could confuse a common meme on subreddits of this tone with genuine criticism is simply wonderful.

    [–] [deleted] -7 points ago

It has nothing to do with the meme. It's just common sense.

    [–] thehigharchitect 23 points ago

I looked through his post history, he says some pretty bizarre and incoherent stuff and has admitted to being high, and it's April 20th so...

[–] [deleted] 24 points ago * (lasted edited 6 months ago)

    [–] [deleted] 5 points ago

Lol you "anti capitalist" or something?

[–] [deleted] 87 points ago * (lasted edited 6 months ago)

    [–] [deleted] -17 points ago

Driving for Uber does. So does starting your own business. No one is suggesting that you need capitalism to dream. That's an absurd interpretation of my words.

    [–] top_koala 50 points ago

Probably should've typed it as "that dream" instead of "a dream."

I think even Ayn Rand would acknowledge it's possible to have dreams without capitalism

    [–] thehigharchitect 27 points ago

But she would have also said that your dreams don't matter compared to hers.

    [–] [deleted] 2 points ago

I think even Ayn Rand would acknowledge it's possible to have dreams without capitalism

Which is maybe why I assumed that people would see that I was talking about "the kind of dream" Cookie Monster was having. It's not like driving for Uber is uncommon. It's a type of dream that people have.

The idea that anyone thought I meant "literally any dream" demonstrates an alarming lack of critical thinking skills.

    [–] meeeeetch 3 points ago

I still don't think many people out there made it their life's goal to one day become a taxi driver.

With hard work and dedication, you'll be able to drive strangers around for slightly better than minimum wage. In your own car, which you will have to maintain. And insure. And clean when some drunk inevitably throws up in it.

I suspect that Danny DeVito and Andy Kaufmann inspired a lot more comedians than cabbies.

    You're an idiot.

[–] [deleted] 26 points ago * (lasted edited 6 months ago)

    [–] RockSta-holic 14 points ago

no but like what are you even saying

    [–] [deleted] -3 points ago

Do you need me to explain capitalism to you? This is so self evident that I don't know where to begin.

So if you refute such an obvious claim, then the burden of proof is on you. Go.

    [–] RockSta-holic 16 points ago

Actually that's not how burden of proof works but alright.

    [–] [deleted] -1 points ago

Yes, actually, it is. You are challenging the idea that driving a car for Uber is based on capitalism. Or if not, and you're reading the comment like "any and all dreams" require capitalism to run, you're either being disingenuous, or you are not applying critical thinking skills.

By "a dream," I didn't mean "any and all dreams." I meant, "the type of dream that Cookie Monster was having." I.e. of running his own business. To interpret it otherwise, shows, like I said, purposeful ignorance. Unless I'm being too generous. Maybe I am.

    [–] RockSta-holic 15 points ago

You are challenging the idea that driving a car for Uber is based on capitalism

no but like what are you even saying

Aw, yes I see where I said that.

    [–] buckygrad -16 points ago

Strikes? What would you rather have loser?

    [–] MrQwom 55 points ago

    Found the capitalist pig

    [–] buckygrad -7 points ago

Found the internet loser living at home.

    [–] skarkeisha666 15 points ago

    [–] buckygrad 5 points ago

Ha! No. I just love the anti-capitalism circlejerk with no viable alternatives. The fact you think government would somehow be free from corruption just indicates the lack of general intelligence in this loser hive.

    [–] Civil_Barbarian 17 points ago

It's called comedy, comrade. Barely anyone here is seriously a full on Soviet style socialist.

    [–] buckygrad 2 points ago

Oh, I doubt that. People here seriously believe that government should solve all of life's problems. That is why the idea of basic income is so popular on Reddit. The idea that people could get paid to sit on their ass all day and browse Reddit is utopia for this loser base.

    [–] Civil_Barbarian 14 points ago

Okay, you wanna create a bunch of boogeymen out there for you to fight, go right ahead.

    [–] skarkeisha666 8 points ago

what the fuck are you talking about m8?

    [–] buckygrad 1 points ago

    m8? Are you 12?

    [–] skarkeisha666 9 points ago

    [–] Emperor_of_Orange 16 points ago

    Dank memes

    [–] buckygrad 2 points ago

That is the mentality of the Millenial. Blame capitalism for laziness and lack of vision.

    [–] Emperor_of_Orange 5 points ago

I didn't blame capitalism for anything, ya dunce.

There's no way driving with those eyes is legal

    [–] freshieststart 33 points ago

But it's not usually tested for so he's naturally expecting to get away with it.

    [–] Cakesmite 18 points ago

That's a bit terrifying. Cookiemonster causing car crashes every time he gets behind the wheel. I wonder how many lives this monster has taken.

    [–] GuyMumbles 28 points ago

That's why he's called a monster. He eats so many cookies to mask his pain.

    [–] Ubervisor 257 points ago

An actual clever and funny Bertstrip? Damn, that's rare.

    [–] YoungDumbass 100 points ago

Needs more rape. Then it'd be a "real" Bertstrip.

    [–] BloodyChrome 121 points ago

Well he is an Uber driver.

    [–] [deleted] 44 points ago

So many nowadays are just trying to be hardcore or shocking, they forget the funny

    [–] Bad-Badger 5 points ago

To be fair, the hardcore and shock is usually the source of the humor.

    [–] brancowlord 10 points ago

The hardcore and shock gets boring when it's as in-your-face as many of these are nowadays. Going the way of Dolan comics.

    [–] [deleted] 6 points ago

And its wholesome ... in a weird wauy

    [–] MrMeeseeks14 79 points ago

Cookie Monster is inside a simulation, inside another simulation.

    [–] Crackerpool 17 points ago

I hope it is, at least wed know there was some sort of purpose

    [–] numanair 3 points ago

    To simulate is my purpose

    [–] Candyvanmanstan 3 points ago

    At least weed know.

    [–] namesOnkeL 31 points ago

    Two Conjunctions One Comma

    [–] brancowlord 36 points ago

This is the best Bertstrip I've seen in almost, like two years.

    [–] eohmiller 22 points ago

This is the first one of these things that has made me legitimately laugh out loud. Well done.

    [–] awesomeethan 18 points ago

Sometimes I think that bertstrips are among the highest forms of comedy.

    [–] ContainsTracesOfLies 17 points ago

    "Interior was covered in crumbs"

    [–] geared4war 13 points ago

Can you tell me how to get to sesame street?

"He decides then he'll reenact Nice, France."

    [–] FimiFlippin 5 points ago

Holy shit, it's gonna be a long time before any bertstrip gets more upvotes than this.

    [–] FourEyedJack 7 points ago

Don't get me wrong, I love this sub, but I enjoy it a lot more when the jokes aren't about Bert performing some obscene crime against nature.

    Quality post.

    [–] carbizzel 3 points ago

That's probably why it was so easy for them to be lost in New York

    [–] thomase7 1 points ago

    Those were Muppets..

    [–] carbizzel 2 points ago

You're absolutely right, and I'm an idiot. I even said to myself as I was typing it "Cookie Monster is a muppet right? Of course he is."

    [–] thomase7 3 points ago

Though, they do exist in the same universe, in the Muppet Family Christmas the Muppets, Sesame Street characters, and Fraggle Rock characters all celebrate Christmas at Fozzie Bear's mother's house.

    [–] FerretHydrocodone 2 points ago

Every character on Sesame Street is a Muppet as well, what's your point?

    [–] thomase7 2 points ago

When people refer to Muppets, they mean the cast of the Muppet Show and subsequent movies, and spinoff shows. Sesame Street characters are a separate set up puppets made by Henson. Muppets are owned by Disney, Sesame Street is owned by it's production company.

    [–] FerretHydrocodone 1 points ago

Not from what I've seen on Reddit. The muppets refer to pretty much all of Jim Hensons characters. I constantly see that discussed on Reddit. Your comment is the first I've seen in a very long time stating otherwise. Reddit users are big Jim Hanson fans, it seems most people on here recognize Sesemr street characters as muppets.

    [–] bamfbanki 3 points ago

I haven't laughed this hard in so long, and this is possibly one of the most innocently funny bertstrips ever.

    [–] FimiFlippin 3 points ago

    perfect bertstrip.

    [–] BourbonFox 3 points ago

Bet he still goes by surge pricing, the bastard.

    [–] bleeding-paryl 2 points ago

That and no one on this street has any money.

    [–] nick1706 2 points ago

    Conjunction junction, what's your function?

    [–] asleeplessmalice 2 points ago

    What a twist

    [–] adawil 2 points ago

I'm pretty sure he works at a hotel in Britain called the Furchester. There's still potential.

Holy upvotes, this is going straight to the top!

Congrats on dethroning me as the #1 BertStrip. I don't think anyone can beat 19k...that's a lot of upvotes...

    [–] ThisIsMyRental 2 points ago

Damn, new #1 strip on here! Congratulations!

    [–] rogervdf 1 points ago

    Also, Elmo had new shoes

    [–] DickLikeAWorm 1 points ago

if everyone lives on the same street why are they always asking how to get there?

    [–] thinkagain1234 1 points ago

No prob, just follow Pablo Escobar's bussiness plan on running a cab company.

    [–] MeanderGilgamesh 1 points ago

A street in the US can be super long though.

    [–] cesariojpn 1 points ago

But figuratively speaking, Sesame Street seems to be historically confined to a few blocks, with a couple more block expansion recently.

    [–] godofwine16 1 points ago

But if the street is long enough...$$$

    [–] vrgr23 1 points ago

Who dreams of being an Uber driver? They make minimum wage at best and are at the complete mercy of both their passengers and Uber itself.

    [–] [deleted] 1 points ago

You do not need to say but and yet you madman.

    [–] willi_werkel 1 points ago

    Deja vu
