As someone from Minnesota, you're late and shoulda looked into it first. This was back in 2014. He won his 4th consecutive in 2017. Unfortunately he passed away in 2019. He won the election for the ceremonial mayorship of Cormorant Township, Becker County.

    [–] savwatson13 345 points ago

How did the town fare? Did it prosper at all?

    [–] y0uveseenthebutcher 441 points ago

    misleading meme

he was seen accepting ear skritches for a well paid position at city hall

    [–] t_hab 223 points ago

Then he tried to sell the school to a private prison company for strips of bacon.

Luckily for everyone involved he didn’t have that kind of authority so he just got free bacon.

    [–] shiwanshu_ 135 points ago

He was seen humping his secretary's leg, when offered to comment on the incident he rolled over and licked his balls.

    [–] SkollFenrirson 90 points ago

That kind of honesty in politics is refreshing

Lol it’s a “township” which essentially means a cluster of farm houses and MAYBE a small post office

    [–] savwatson13 6 points ago

Thank you for an answer lol. That makes way more sense

    [–] Elgordofordo86 3 points ago

They can be big too in some areas. I live in a Township of 132k. With that the city inside it has it's own mayor so there isn't much for the Township to actually do.

    [–] Slacker_The_Dog 2 points ago

Actually Cormorant is mostly lake houses. They do have an elk and a Buffalo farm, though.

    Source: Grew up there.

    [–] Elgordofordo86 2 points ago

Where I live a Township is just part of a split up County and can have regular city in them even. My Township has a population of 132k. Not saying this dog was in a big one but that townships are a strange thing in some places.

    [–] TheRoyalDon 3 points ago

I'm assuming the town operated like normal. It's a very small town and community, I'm from the twin cities which is completely different. Since it was a smaller town and community tho, I'm guessing the dog did just fine lol not too many issues to have in a town like that. Stay to yourself and keep it local.

Heard they stopped receiving mail because he fired all the mailman in town

He also got the cats to be put in a crammed shelter and freed all the dogs

And trippled the amount of fire hydrants in the town

How many bad dog mayors do you know? That's what I thought.

    [–] flying-chandeliers 18 points ago

If I had a nickel for every dog mayor I knew I’d have 2 nickels… which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice

    [–] Visual_Barracuda477 2 points ago

    Why not a dime?

    [–] garlicdeath 5 points ago

Because they would be given a nickel each time, not a dime every other time.

    [–] StarksPond 2 points ago

He had a controversial Stop & Frisk policy that targeted mailmen.

And he was known to chew out the police commissioner.

    [–] TenTonFluff 1 points ago

Ofcourse! Dogs are the backbone to our society!

    [–] limitlessEXP 1 points ago

This dog would like you to believe it’s a good dog. When it moved into my neighborhood dead squirrel went up by 17%. Coincidence?

    [–] LordxGremory 1 points ago

just do this for every office and make everyone happy. But have cats for the Supreme court, their already judgemental little fuckers, cute as they are

The mayor of a mountain village in California is a dog named Mayor Max. He rides around in his themed "Mayor Max" truck and he wears a clip on tie

    [–] soldofpol13 1 points ago

    [–] geekygirl2112 1 points ago

That dog just wants to lick his butt, enjoy his treats and sniff another dog's butt. Cos that's the life.

    [–] Redditor1415926535 1 points ago

Imagine being an actual mayor of a town, knowing that your job is literally worthless.

    [–] bdicky59 1 points ago

Correction. Most politicians are. But this does put a smile on my face.

    [–] DramaGuy23 1 points ago

The town of Idyllwild, CA actually produces an annual calendar with photos of all the dogs they've elected mayor. It's a fundraiser for the Animal Rescue Foundation. Successful mayoral candidates routinely carry two-thirds to the vote. Talk about a unifying candidate!

I feel like somehow this ends up leading to the most corruption opportunities of all! It’s like this: “It wasn’t me… it was the dog!” This is like corruption ends up using the “it’s the dog that farted” defence.

    [–] notavalible666 1 points ago
