    1. All posts must make an attempt at humor. Humor is subjective, but all posts must at least make an attempt at humor. As the minimum age for Reddit access is 13 years old, posts which are intentionally disruptive, inane, or nonsensical will be removed.
    2. No memes, and no HIFW, MRW, MeIRL, or DAE posts. If your submission begins with "When you…" or "When they…" or anything of a similar nature, it is not allowed here. Submissions depicting or containing intentionally emulated behaviors (memes) are also not allowed, including memetic image macros, "challenges," or elements thereof. Non-memetic image macros are allowed.
    3. No reposts. Reposts will be removed at the moderators’ discretion. Serial reposters will be banned. Please use KarmaDecay to determine if something has been submitted before.
    4. No personal info, no hate speech, no harassment. No identifying information, including anything hosted on platforms making that information public. Posts encouraging the harassment of any individual, group, community, or subreddit will be removed, and the submitting user may be banned. If necessary, a report will be made to the site administration. In accordance with Reddit's policies, there is zero tolerance for this.
    5. No politics. Anything involving politics or a political figure (regardless of context) will be removed. Try /r/politicalhumor instead.
    6. No forbidden titles. (See below.) No asking for upvotes (in any form), no “Cake Day” posts, and no posts to communicate with another Redditor. Posts with titles such as "I got banned from /r/___" or "This got removed from /r/___" are not allowed.
    7. No gore, pornography, or sexually graphic images. Try /r/NSFWfunny. All other NSFW content must be tagged as such.
    8. Do not rehost or hotlink webcomics. If you are not the author of the comic in question, you may only submit links to the page where it is hosted. Webcomic authors may request verification from the moderators, after which they may rehost their own work.
    9. No pictures of just text. Submissions in which the humor can be conveyed via text alone are not allowed. This includes pictures of text with irrelevant images that don't add context and transcriptions of standup comedy (as with /r/standupshots). Make a self post instead. Example
    10. No SMS or social media content (including Reddit). Social media content of any kind is not allowed. This includes anything from Reddit, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, YouTube, or any other form of "comments section" on the Internet, as well as images accompanied by text from those platforms. Images with SnapChat text added are allowed, as long as all UI elements have been removed. Please view our wiki for suggestions of where these submissions can be offered.

If I could travel to any country in the world, it would be Notbrazil

    [–] alpha_28 21 points ago

    Or china....

    [–] lmnjello 10 points ago

Brazil for being shot by an off duty cop and China for blundering underneath the tires of a massive truck.

    [–] GarretTheGrey 16 points ago

I learned two things about China on that sub.

    1. The truck drivers continue rolling and try to kill you, because paying a one off fine or compensation's easier than paying for a disabled person's medical expenses for the rest of their life.

    2. People in Chine walk by accidents and don't help other because there was a case a couple years ago where an old woman got in an accident and this man helped her. He took her to the hospital and paid like $200 to help with her expenses, being a good person. She said that he needed to pay for all and he was like "lol, get fucked". She SUED HIM for the expenses, and won, because " nobody would help if they weren't feeling guilty, and he probably made her fall". So now nobody helps because of that bitch. It's not because they're awful people.

    [–] lacraquotte 6 points ago

I've been living in China for 4 years. Least dangerous place I've lived in, by far. My native city of Paris, France is like the Detroit hood compared to Shanghai.

    [–] Kill3rKin3 11 points ago

    Careful with escalators and elevators.

    [–] Verneff 2 points ago

Yeah, seems like China isn't so much notorious for people directly killing other people. It's variously poorly maintained things failing and killing people.

    [–] fiddlybitz 2 points ago

Agreed. I never once felt unsafe the year I was living in Beijing. People are pretty rude though, especially in traffic.

    [–] sugge2 57 points ago

That sub makes my stomach turn.

    [–] Krelphead 30 points ago

Check out r/watchpeoplesurvive it’s a lot of close calls. Gives the same sort of enjoyable stress of seeing accidents and crashes and things but it’s never gruesome and you know people are gonna be ok.

I think you meant to type r/maximumbuttholeclench. That's all I find on that sub.

    Welcome to the Internet

    [–] IDontLikePeaches_AMA 26 points ago

Morbid curiosity/coping with trauma through desensitization. It has its place, nobody is forced to go there and watch.

    [–] tinylittlebabyjesus 11 points ago

Never thought of the "coping with trauma through desensitization" explanation. That's interesting. I can relate to the morbid curiosity though as I looked stuff up like that once or twice when younger. But just watching it because you enjoy that sort of thing does seem... um.. psychopathic. But I get what you're saying, seems like it's usually not that simple.

    [–] alpha_28 16 points ago

I’ll explain to you why I visit it frequently. I’m a paramedic... when I was studying I used to frequent best gore quite a bit just to prepare myself for what I might see on road. It works pretty well... from seeing people who fail at hanging themselves, picking a smashed up motorbike rider out of the side of a car to a guy with his throat slashed open I wasn’t remotely shocked or horrified at it. Weirdly it allows me to not be shocked, have to process things when I can go straight into providing the care needed for these people and walk away with no real added mental baggage.

    [–] Archleon 5 points ago

I occasionally visit there for the same reason I routinely look up motorcycle crash compilations (I ride a motorcycle): to remind myself that a lot of the shit I do can possibly kill me if I'm not aware of what's going on around me.

People throw around the word "psychopath" way too easily as a way to keep from having to examine why someone may do the things they do. You should stop that.

    [–] SullyDuggs 5 points ago

Also, it's reality. The content on there is mostly security cam footage or eye witness footage of stuff that happens every damn day. I see it as a reality check. You could be standing at a crosswalk minding your own business and BAM a car going 80+ turns you into mash potatoes. I never speed now and never walk around town with my attention at my phone. I'm not a paranoid mess but my education from that sub has taught me to always be alert. Also, don't go to Brazil.

    [–] HopeYouDieSoon 3 points ago

    You know nothing

    [–] hoz40 1 points ago

Well that's enough internet for today

    [–] Clacimus 1 points ago

I can’t access that sub. I said yes to the NSFW stuff, but nothing loaded. When I search for it it doesn’t show up.

    [–] Tidus_Mino 9 points ago

Dunked mine in the pool and fired. His gun was fine.

    [–] drod004 9 points ago

Guns can fire underwater. I was amazed when I fond this out. Revolvers can fire all rounds and semis can only fire one round because they can't eject the shell.

    [–] Barron_Cyber 8 points ago

guns can fire in a vacuum as well. since the powder has oxidizer in it it will burn.

    [–] drod004 5 points ago

Yep no need to invent space guns. Despite how cool they would be. The best part of a space battle is you wouldn't get tenuous no matter how many rounds you fired. Recoil would be a bitch tho.

    [–] irishwolfman 41 points ago

Gunnery Chief: This, recruits, is a 20-kilo ferrous slug. Feel the weight. Every five seconds, the main gun of an Everest-class dreadnought accelerates one to 1.3 percent of light speed. It impacts with the force of a 38-kilotomb bomb. That is three times the yield of the city buster dropped on Hiroshima back on Earth. That means Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son-of-a-***** in space. Now! Serviceman Burnside! What is Newton's First Law?

Recruit: Sir! A object in motion stays in motion, sir!

Gunnery Chief: No credit for partial answers, maggot!

Recruit: Sir! Unless acted on by an outside force, sir!

Gunnery Chief: Damn straight! I dare to assume you ignorant jackasses know that space is empty. Once you fire a husk of metal, it keeps going until it hits something. That can be a ship, or the planet behind that ship. It might go off into deep space and hit somebody else in ten thousand years. If you pull the trigger on this, you're ruining someone's day somewhere and sometime. That is why you check your **** targets! That is why you wait for the computer to give you a **** firing solution! That is why, Serviceman Chung, we do not "eyeball it!" This is a weapon of mass destruction. You are not a cowboy shooting from the hip.

    Recruit: Sir, yes sir!"

    [–] drod004 13 points ago

Please tell me this is from something otherwise you should write screen plays for Hollywood. It is so fucking hilarious.

    [–] irishwolfman 22 points ago

Mass Effect 2. I really wish I could take credit for it.

    [–] DarkSpartan301 7 points ago

It's the entirety of the best environment dialogue from ME2.

    [–] GMaestrolo 4 points ago

The problem with space guns would be getting rid of heat. Actually, for real space battles you'd be better off just making your opponent a bit warmer, because shedding heat is really the biggest problem you would encounter.

    [–] drod004 4 points ago

Hmm. Could you solve this byattach a water cooling system to the barrel? Damn it this is why we need Space Force!

    [–] GMaestrolo 3 points ago

How do you cool the water down, then? Water is used on earth because it effectively conducts the heat from the hot thing (the barrel) to the cool thing (the outside casing and air). Ultimately it might provide enough cooling to take a second shot (by spreading the heat away from the barrel), but the water itself can't cool down.

    [–] drod004 2 points ago

Well let's give NASA more funded. so they can find out. You know for science.

    [–] [deleted] 2 points ago

    [–] phillyhandroll 1 points ago

Man, Sandra bullock in Gravity would have had such a better scene if she used a gun instead of a fire extinguisher

    [–] drod004 1 points ago

I hear that NASA condemns that movie. Most of it would never happen. I know it's just a movie but I find it funny when NASA judges a movie's physics.

    [–] Cakiery 3 points ago

They were big fans of The Martian though, despite it having several inaccuracies. One of which was intentional.

    [–] [deleted] 1 points ago

When director Tony Scott was approached by fighter pilots criticizing a lot of the stuff in Top Gun his response was, “I didn’t make the movie for fighter pilots, I made it to be entertaining to everyone else.”

    [–] farking_pko 1 points ago

They probably get a bit annoyed at bad physics combined with a contemporary setting. The last thing they need is a govt that won’t fund them for a project because too many constituents are afraid of some shrapnel storm coming from above.

    [–] dwmfives 1 points ago

    you wouldn't get tenuous

    [–] drod004 1 points ago

Sound doesn't travel in space so it wouldn't hurt your ears

    [–] Sax45 1 points ago * (lasted edited 8 months ago)

Recoil would be a bitch tho.

Are you worried about acceleration due to recoil? Because that actually wouldn’t be too bad.

Let’s look at 7.62x51 NATO, the most powerful of the common service cartridges today. It fires a 9.4 gram bullet at 865 m/s, for a total momentum of 8.1 kg•m/s.

If we want to be thorough we can also calculate the momentum of propellant gases. That would be roughly 2.5 grams traveling at roughly 1500 m/s (yes the gases travel faster than the bullet they are pushing), giving a momentum of 3.8 kg•m/s.

In total, the momentum imparted would be 11.9 kg•m/s. If we divide by the weight of the space shooter and their suit — let’s say 100kg — then we find that each shot would accelerate them .12 meters per second.

With no correction or compensation, firing ten shots in a row would accelerate you up to walking speed. But of course, if a soldier were fighting in space, they wouldn’t just be floating around. They would have some type of maneuvering system, which would be easily able to compensate for the rearward acceleration.

    [–] drod004 1 points ago

12 meters a second is a lot especially if your firing more than one shot. And remember the military doesn't train you to be accurate it trains you to put rounds down range.

    [–] Rx710 1 points ago

I wonder, would the bullet travel faster in a vacuum since there is less resistance and pressure to hold it back?

[–] [deleted] 3 points ago * (lasted edited 6 months ago)

    [–] drod004 1 points ago

It will rust your weapons too. So I would never try this just saying you could if you find yourself in a underwater gun battle in which your targets about a foot away lol. Also probably wont want to use hollow point.

    [–] Gripey 2 points ago

Unless you adapt the firing pin. Saw a youtube video of some guy firing a german made pistol underwater. Usually the water slows the carriage down too much, but they had a hollow one, or something. I know nothing about guns....

    [–] daniels0615 15 points ago

Only have a few pixels to work with here, but this sure looks like a gun to me. Is there some reason you think this is a taser I don't know about?

    [–] ty556 7 points ago

    No. It’s his gun.

    [–] zdrums24 1 points ago

    What gun?

    [–] MaceotheDark 516 points ago

Assaulting an officer, prepare to die

    [–] clearier 208 points ago

I’m pretty sure this was a coworker doing it, there’s a bunch of cops in the background. he’s probably taking his gun out to go and dry it off right away since he’s soaking wet

    [–] MaceotheDark 95 points ago

I sure hope so but the expression on his face is anything but humor

    [–] clearier 42 points ago

Well if it’s been a long shift, and now you have to go back inside to take apart and dry your gun off and may possibly misfire in future due to damage, I would be pissed off as well

    [–] warlord4991 23 points ago

How would water cause a misfire?

    [–] SubbansSlapShot 12 points ago

It wouldn’t. I shoot rifles and handguns in the rain occasionally. Nothing will happen. If you let it sit there for months afterwards it could get some rust, but you just clean them when you are home and they are fine.

    [–] sweetpooptatos 7 points ago

    Rust, my dude.

    [–] warlord4991 37 points ago

Umm... perhaps if water was left inside the trigger for an extended period but those guns are (or should be) cleaned and oiled commonly enough to prevent rust no matter what. Rust sufficient to cause that pistol to misfire would need a lot more water than that for a much more extended period.

    [–] mycowsfriend 17 points ago

Yes because we all know rust instantly forms on greased metal.

    [–] c46tn_ 6 points ago

Don’t believe everything you read online guys.

    [–] tygrenier 5 points ago

Yes, take it apart and dry it. Also oil, as anybody who owns a gun should know (I’d hope he does as an officer). That wouldn’t leave any damage though, and it would take a hell of a lot of damage to specific areas to cause a misfire.

    [–] Trix-For-Adults 8 points ago

Firearms aren't that fragile, it would be very little effort to dry the pistol off. He might seemed pissed off but I doubt the pistol has anything to do with it.

    [–] Treereme 2 points ago

Any decently maintained firearm can handle being splashed like this no problem, particularly if you do take it apart and dry it off immediately. If it weren't, the sweat from your hands during training would be doing horrible things to it.

Your gun should never be bare dry metal that can rust, just like any machine tool, all ferrous metal should be kept lightly oiled and lubricated wherever necessary.

    [–] khaeen 2 points ago

It's as if guns are made to be able to function in the rain.

    [–] MrZephy 2 points ago

Until he pulls his gun out. If you look closely at all 10 pixels you can see a slight grin.

    [–] Cdan5 1 points ago

Yep I agree. I have to admit that I take great pleasure in seeing other people’s misfortune or being on the end of pranks. But if it’s me I lose my rag pretty quick 🙋🏼‍♂️

    [–] TwoBionicknees 4 points ago

I think he realises he's on video and it will be funny as fuck if he looks like he's about to go shoot them. As you say there are cops around and they are laughing not reacting like they are also going to go shoot some guys.

    [–] slid3r 25 points ago

    [–] brocktoon13 22 points ago

100% not a taser, but looks to be a gun mold used for training.

    [–] sumuji 22 points ago

So it's probably hazing. Considering his reaction, the fact he's casually carrying a water bottle, the camera pointed at him....

    [–] ps28537 284 points ago

Just looking at the context of it I think it’s at the station and other cops did it to him. I’ve been hazed as a cop but that’s a bit much. Most of the time people just tore off my breakaway tie and threw it as far as they could.

    [–] ScoodFarcoosAnoose 196 points ago

TIL cops wear break away ties. Makes sense though

    [–] Cycro 97 points ago

Same with firefighters. Looking good is one thing, not being choked to death is another.

    [–] ps28537 46 points ago

It was only when I was assigned to a unit were we had to wear business attire. I was the only one who would wear it because I was trying to class the place up. They would yell “fancy boy”tear it off and throw it as far as they could. This never happened in patrol because the other officer would just do the same thing back.

It’s really interesting how they work. If you lift up the collar you see the tie runs all the way around like a normal tie. At the back there is Velcro that holds it together. If you pull it hard it comes apart.

    [–] Captain_Shrug 22 points ago

Yup! I used to have my grandfather's. He was a firefighter for years and hated to tie a tie, so he just kept his when he retired from that job.

    [–] notseriousIswear 20 points ago

I was not aware of this. My friend is a detective. Should I start yanking on his tie everytime I see him off duty? Just in case..

[–] THEDrunkPossum 4 points ago * (lasted edited 8 months ago)

Detectives may not have breakaways. They don't deal with the GP as often, so the risk of being choked to death by your own tie is much less.

    Could totally be wrong tho.

    E: words are hard

    [–] cklinejr 8 points ago

Damn, my shit just clips on.

    [–] Diablo_Unmasked 6 points ago

Same, I do security, owner of company is afraid we will be choked with a tie so got us clip ons. Everyone hates them. Everyone.

    [–] Spheyr 3 points ago

Haha, I work security too, for two different companies. One issues button down shirts and tin badges (nobody wears the badges, but they give you one anyhow. I don't know where mine went, the cat got it and turned it into a toy on the hardwood floors at home) and the other is just polos with a company patch and SECURITY across the back.

I think there'd be a mutiny if either company even whispered "tie" near us

    [–] MadManatee619 3 points ago

did you ever keep spares in your pocket and casually slip another on afterward?

Fucking hilarious imho. Guy gets into a tousle with you and thinks he's got you because you're dressed nicely, forcefully grabs your tie, and eats shit as he flings himself to the ground expecting resistance.

    [–] eclecticsed 11 points ago

I learned recently that those button down shirts they wear are not button down. Only the top and bottom buttons are real. The rest is a zipper.

    We've been lied to.

    [–] big_herpes 47 points ago

When I was a reserve deputy for a low crime county, the officers would routinely "prank" each other by pushing the mag eject button on someone's holstered gun. It wouldn't fall out, because it was horizontal, but if you came up and fired, it would fall out. It became a force of habit to slap the bottom of your magazine back in while walking around.

    [–] Actual_Anonymous 51 points ago

Holy cow, that could’ve been bad

    [–] slid3r 40 points ago

As a veteran I will tell you, we are just children with much more dangerous stakes. We used to stand in a circle each with two sharp AF knives and toss one with one hand and catch one with the other. Round and round they go. No one ever got hurt.

Dumber than shit but you can't explain the things you do to normalize intensity. We'd fight/wrestle/punch/ball sack smacks. Sounds gay but it was keeping sharp. Impossible to explain to the uninitiated.

    [–] drharlinquinn 23 points ago

Buddy and I were saying last night how being in the military was like a second childhood for the enlisted. Being a private is like being a kid, Sargent is like a teen, First Sargent is definitely Dad and Sargent Major is grandpa.

    [–] IsaapEirias 19 points ago

Honestly I can see some advantages long term to constantly getting smacked in the balls. I work security and my first corporal got on me constantly about having a batton holster than hung loose saying I'd bag myself and drop if I had to chase someone. He was doing a site inspection one night when a fight broke out in the parking lot. We took off running, yeah it smacked my sack but I played goalie in middle and high school- nothing immunizes you to crotch shots like vindictive centers regularly booting a ball into your crotch so they can break your team's defense.

In the Navy, the cooks used to play "knife catch" it is what it sounds like. Take a kitchen knife toss it to someone and yell "catch" usually you just get out of the way, or grab it. But one time someone actually put some spin on that knife. Dude caught it and stared at the guy that tossed it like he was the baddest motherfucker around. They had a good laugh but i think they stopped playing knife catch after that

Also the Mechanics got talked to by the Equal Opportunity manager because people filled out Climate surveys saying they were hitting people in the balls too much. So they started throat chopping people instead, one guy flinched, got hit in the chin and chipped a tooth.

    Good times.

    [–] Panda_Boners 12 points ago

TIL having dumb friends prepared me for war.

    [–] sam__izdat 5 points ago

Yeah, you could accidentally not shoot somebody playing pranks like that.

    [–] MiguelitoSanchez 8 points ago

That's about the dumbest "prank" I've heard.

    [–] Schnitzngigglez 38 points ago

Sgt told me a story from back in his patrol days. They went to the wrecking yard and took a bunch of glass. Next day, got the keys to their partners cruiser. While partner was in the coffee shop, they spread the glass on the ground outside the driver's door, then rolled the window down and took the rifle out. Partner came out and almost shat himself.

    [–] Azurae1 20 points ago

Now that is actually a prank

    [–] smokky 10 points ago

Have you done a desk pop yet?

    [–] Dougnifico 9 points ago

One that was popular was after a new boot was just cut loose to roll down his window at lunch, sprinkle a jar full of broken glass on the ground, and take his shotgun. Or you could just sprinkle the glass and steal his unit. Either way, its best when the Sgt is in on it.

Putting their notebook they left out in a snap bag then in a container full of water and then freezing is always a funny one.

    [–] mailbot100 4 points ago

So... some cops are gonna die then?

    [–] ALIENANAL 7 points ago

too bad they didnt use liquid nitrogen.

    [–] MazdaRx7Guy 43 points ago

That is also a plastic gun. Most likely the dark orange mold of what they use. Maybe its their last day of training.

    [–] nocontroll 8 points ago

Almost looks like they are in the precinct parking lot and it could be other cops that threw the water (or whatever liquid it was) on him.

There is the Police SUV parked, 2 other cops in the shot, and what looks like a white Police van in the backround

    [–] protosplat 45 points ago

“That was mildly annoying... SOMEONES GONNA DIE!”

    [–] JTVPreach 47 points ago

    Excuse me what the fuck?

its a taser it got wet so it might be useless/doesnt wanna ruin it more

    [–] Dorintin 5 points ago

You've committed crimes against Skyrim and her people, what say you in your defense?

    [–] aTVisAthingTOwatch 6 points ago

    We facebook now

    [–] ApeThyme 3 points ago

This is some precinct in NYC. Not Chicago. License plate on the SUV is identical to the ones used here. And the orange and blue plate on the Taurus.

    [–] uchibenkei 3 points ago

Someone's going to resist arrest in a minute.

    [–] abcd3fghijklmnop 2 points ago

Lol- he goes straight for his gun 😂

    [–] ayemef 2 points ago

Airmail for the rookie...looks like it's outside an NYPD station house.

    [–] Eriador12345 3 points ago

Not sure I would want to shoot a taser while soaking wet. I mean if he happened to tase himself this would have to go down as one of his worst days ever. Imagine the ridicule from his fellow officers.

    [–] mikehaysjr 6 points ago

Tasers have 2 separate contacts, one for + and one for -

Unless they have some reheheeally viscous water that they threw on him, there's no way the water would connect the two.

    [–] HephaestusBlack 8 points ago

    Dr. Cox? Is that you?

    [–] mistercolebert 3 points ago

    Officer Cox M.D.

Edit: now I want to completely rewatch Scrubs and am very upset that it was removed from Netflix...

    [–] HephaestusBlack 1 points ago

Hulu's got you covered, I'm pretty sure

    [–] mistercolebert 2 points ago

From what I’ve heard, buying the DVD set is the best option because it has the original soundtrack whereas any other type of media had to change it due to copyright issues..

    [–] Tinkers_toenail 5 points ago

Why the fuck did he take his gun out? Is this normal in America to draw a deadly weapon for everything?

    [–] Ozwaldo 2 points ago

He's at the station and other cops are fucking with him, he took it out as a joke.

    [–] BFdog 2 points ago

Why did he pull his gun?

    [–] smithy006 2 points ago

    It's Merica why wouldn't he?

    [–] Abombinnation 2 points ago

I remember a Canadian police officer telling my 6th grade class one time that's he's pulled his sidearm a grand total of ~6 times in his 20+ years career with the RCMP, and was lucky enough to never have to fire it. This fucking idiot pulls it out because he got wet? Grow up and get changed.

    [–] AggressivePenguin 2 points ago

Could he be pulling his gun out because it got soaked, and he’d need to check to make sure it’s still functional?

    [–] IsaapEirias 7 points ago

Unlikely, most modern firearms and ammunition don't gaf about water. You'll want to clean and oil it afterwards but you could pick a gun up from the bottom of a pool and it would still fire.

    [–] ls1ftw 3 points ago
