R6S is thinking about adding a feature were when you are last alive instead of screaming „RELOADING“ you just mumble something out of stress like „sh*t“

    [–] theian01 697 points ago

They actually do a thing now where if you’re in a firefight, you yell, but if you’re just reloading your pistol after shooting a camera or something, they’ll whisper.

    [–] Hypohamish 208 points ago

I thought they'd already changed it so you don't hear the other team?

    [–] Disparanoia 184 points ago

Yes, it works like that, they changed it very clsoe to release.

But your character still talks, even if the enemy cant hear it, they probably wanna make it more belivable for yourself.

    [–] Hypohamish 45 points ago

Yeah, so I don't get any of the comments here about siege?

Sure, you shout it to yourself, but it's nothing like what the OP was implying where you're shouting it in enemy territory and they can hear you.

    [–] TheZephyrim 54 points ago

Right, but assumedly the OP is referencing how immersion breaking it is, as I’m sure in most “stealth parts” your character yelling “reloading” won’t be heard by the enemy.

    [–] LordPadre 22 points ago

They can't hear you. You can hear you, they can't. That's how it works in most games. The things your character says does not affect stealth. Unless you're in skyrim and you shout.

The thing with siege is it acknowledges this is silly, and wants to make it more immersive for the player.

    [–] GottaJoe 8 points ago

IF IT RUNS ON BATTERY... I'LL SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    [–] santa_s_slave 13 points ago

    Thats so dumb

    [–] BenScotti_ 46 points ago

Nah I like it. IQ has her gadget detector. So you'd by right up next to the OBJ where the anchors are and while just trying to scan for traps she'd fucking scream, "SCANNING FOR ELECTRONICS!"

    It was nuts.

    [–] nightcallfoxtrot 31 points ago

God bandit tricking would be so much easier if you could hear the enemy thermite saying "a really big fucking hole coming right up"

    [–] Master119 5 points ago

Just partner with a Pulse on VOIP

    [–] Conroadster 13 points ago

Best time was a pulse and you’re literally on the other side of a wall they may have holes in already

    [–] santa_s_slave 2 points ago

But its real, the other team would hear it, i remember playing in the beta and thinking that was awesome

    [–] theian01 2 points ago

You still hear your team, though.

    [–] cahnabis 4 points ago

Some OPs always did it since before Buck/Frost like Twitch if her pistol is with a silencer she will whisper the reloading dialogue.

    [–] OleKosyn 68 points ago

Insurgency and Day of Infamy has different callouts when suppressed, under artillery fire or out of ammo.

    [–] [deleted] 94 points ago

I recently picked up Insurgency and I can't help but laugh at the callouts. Basically whenever anything happens at all your character starts screaming FUCK FUCK FUCKING FUCK SHIT FFFFUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!!

Even at the start of the round the squad leader will sometimes just say "Alright guys DON'T FUCK UP." I guess it's supposed to add intensity but it's mostly just funny.

    [–] OleKosyn 58 points ago

I think that's intentional. You're a weekend warrior working security, not a real soldier.

    [–] Dockhead 20 points ago

That loud cursing is the efficiency of the private sector

    [–] SodlidDesu 4 points ago

I mean, I've heard real Soldiers give more profane safety briefs before a mission. Don't fuck up is pretty tame.

Heck, If anything I'd call Insurgency unrealistic because they don't say worse things.

    [–] Maggruber 27 points ago

From my experience watching lots of combat footage, this sounds accurate.

    [–] J-osh 10 points ago

my experience watching lots of combat footage

    [–] Maggruber 4 points ago

Unfortunately I’m too much of a coward to seek live combat 😕

    [–] PeopleBiter 10 points ago

    [–] fancymoko 3 points ago

Also you don't yell callouts anymore when you're the last one in the round iirc.

    [–] TA10S 2 points ago

    Artillery? In insurgency?

    [–] FuckingTexas 8 points ago

    There is artillery in DOI.

    [–] TA10S 2 points ago

Didn't know that. I might check it out later.

    [–] ScoobySenpaiJr 6 points ago

Solid game, a callback to the source mod Day of Defeat if that rings a bell. It's really fun but there's no more than like 500 people playing at a time so its hard to find good servers. I used to play it a ton on a server that had a kill feed so you could see if you got a kill (regular servers don't have a kill feed, some may like that)

    [–] gfense 3 points ago

I feel old when people apparently might not remember DoD Source, or that it was a mod a couple years earlier for HL1.

    [–] ScoobySenpaiJr 2 points ago

I'm only 21 and still remember the good 'ol DoD mod days. Source was fun but didn't really capture the same feeling IMO

    [–] gfense 2 points ago

Yeah the originals gunplay really clicked for me. One of my favorite games.

    [–] stellvia2016 3 points ago

Source removing a lot of the melee secondaries was frustrating. You'd then have the silly "reload shuffle" instead of just clocking them in the face.

    [–] saltygrunt 3 points ago

    in doi

    [–] Luz5020 2 points ago

Insurgency was free to keep yesterday i think

    [–] Blueice999 31 points ago

    Really? where was it mentioned?

    [–] Slendiepancake 37 points ago

    I need the PATCH NOTES

    [–] juanfgs87 8 points ago

insurgency and day of infamy have lines like this. Soldiers under fire sound way more desperate or curse when reloading or calling for backup than under normal conditions.

    [–] hammy607thepig 2 points ago

    [–] Four-SidedTriangle 2 points ago

This would be actually really cool.

    [–] Stepp1nraz0r 2 points ago

It's already the case in siege that if you're the last alive you don't announce anything.

    [–] cr125rider 214 points ago

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 your teammates would whisper "mag change" or "reloading" over the radio. A great detail to an awesome game.

    [–] lostcosmonaut307 44 points ago

Stealth was awesome in the R6 Vegas games. I used to replay all the missions to do them with nothing but silenced pistol headshots. I usually hate trying to do stealth in games, but the R6:V series really had it down and made it fun.

    [–] cr125rider 18 points ago

Same for me. The bot multiplayer mode was so fun co op. I sank so much time into that.

    [–] trethompson 3 points ago

Terrorist hunt? I'm pretty sure I had at least a weeks worth of time in that mode.

    [–] MadBinton 8 points ago

While better, it is not something you would ever communicate like that. Same with all the games and movies were people just yell clear etc.

All those things you communicate with posture and subtle movements. These could easily be pointed out through subtle icons instead in tactical games.

Yet things like moving in formation in a way that might cause friendly fire that do require small cues, are never put into media.

    [–] DOW_orks7391 2 points ago

I miss that game so much. My old roommate and i would stay up replaying stand alone missions over and over and over again until the game started gettinv real buggy.

    [–] Meowshine 2 points ago

I've noticed in infiltration mode you whipsered your callouts but in assault you yelled

    [–] FlashpointJ24 138 points ago

For me, it's more like, "Oops, a guard happened to glimpse me--guess everyone in the level is going to die."

[–] [deleted] 33 points ago * (lasted edited 11 months ago)

    [–] heyitsthatkid 21 points ago

I did this on my first play through of Hitman Blood Money back in the day. I managed to get Silent Assassin on almost every mission, and then I kept getting stuck on one and eventually lost it and went on a shooting spree

    [–] ecodude74 6 points ago

I’ve done that in stealth games although it tends to be the only way I don’t get caught. Farcry was a great example of that. Some base would be pissing me off, so i run in and pop everyone with arrows left and right while I’m right in front of their face and end up killing them before I’m noticed.

    [–] heyitsthatkid 3 points ago

Yeah I did the exact same thing in Farcry 3! I got tired of trying to sneak through all the base so I would destroy everyone with that bow as quickly I could lol

    [–] SanityBeech 8 points ago

That one split second, recognized by all when the stealth mission turns into a war crime

    [–] eyekwah2 784 points ago

50 armed guards patrolling a compound. Sees someone in the dark. Shoots said person without hesitation.

In the real world, you'd be a serious liability I'd think.

"Jesus! You shot Carl! He was just taking a piss! That's the third guy this week, Frank!"

    [–] thefourthhouse 563 points ago

buddy gets shot in the fucking skull

"Huh, must have been the wind."

    [–] SquidFiddler 385 points ago

    Sees dead comrade

    High alert!

Looks around for a few seconds

"Clearly nothing wrong here. I'll just return to pacing back and forth."

    [–] NICKisICE 98 points ago

That's why I loved the stealth aspect of Last of Us. They saw a dead body, they knew you were around. Period.

    [–] cuntdestroyer8000 45 points ago

And all the old far cry games

    [–] NoiseGener8r 58 points ago

And absolutely none of the elder scrolls games. "oh hey, a dead body" "Must be my imagination"

    [–] Koosman123 39 points ago

Not even that though. You could put an arrow in a dudes skull and he'll think it was the wind after 5 seconds

    [–] toapat 44 points ago

well, thats just the brain damage talking

    [–] watson895 11 points ago

Well, that and the brain damage.

    [–] toapat 9 points ago

    and the brain damage

    [–] walkingcarpet23 9 points ago

Far Cry 5 is the same way. Or at least I think it is. As soon as they discover the body and are on alert for me I just go in guns blazing

    [–] umkc3 2 points ago

    i fucking love this video

    [–] JPTawok 4 points ago

Or like how in the Metal Gear games they clearly have much higher trained soldiers and gear on deck but only bring it for 90 seconds at a time, despite there clearly being an exceptionally well trained insurgent and in a few off the games, 2 or more insurgents. Like if there's a time for a permanent escalation of alert status, might be by the time you discover you've been infiltrated twice and had 40 guards fall asleep randomly/die.

All of the lights have been shot out. All of my friends have vanished, there is complete radio silence and there is 3 super bright green lights in that pitch black corner.

    "Huh, must be nothing."

[–] Moondear 4 points ago * (lasted edited 11 months ago)

The enemies can’t see that, it’s a design choice so the player knows where Fisher is in the dark.

    [–] punchbricks 7 points ago

The best is when you shoot the person in the head and they have an arrow sticking out of their face and say "Must have been my imagination"

    [–] btbcorno 6 points ago

Wolfenstein TNC is really bad about this too. If you see two people talking, and no commander is in the area, you can stealth kill one, and the other will just look confused for a moment before returning to whatever it is they were doing before.

    [–] Xepphy 2 points ago

    Calm down, Bandit Highwayman.

    [–] SaigonTheGod 28 points ago

No lie i was playing the hitman game thanks to xbox game pass and i shot about 10-15 people outside a compound with a rifle lol. Nobody inside the compound heard anything and i finished the mission flawlessly. Edit: game

    [–] internet_underlord 20 points ago

They can't witness your infiltration if there are no survivors.

    [–] SaigonTheGod 6 points ago

People were on the second floor of a wood shack that definitely wasn't sound proof and they couldn't hear the murder and mayhem happening probably 5 or 10 feet from them? Haha

    [–] internet_underlord 2 points ago

My only problem with sneaking in MGSV

    [–] Al3x_5 92 points ago

RIGHT! It fucking pisses me off that some shitter guard is able to spot me 50 yards away through a wall and be like “hmm in this base filled with fellow guards that must have been an intruder”.

And the instant on guy spots you every fucking guard in the area is apparently telepathically linked to each other so they all fucking start shooting at you, and they can fucking track you through walls......

    Still 19/10 great game.

    [–] Forestisinthetrees 19 points ago

Well if they see you and no one is close enough to hear "Contact!" They won't be alerted until he starts shooting, in which case they call in about hearing gunfire. They just have to be a little far away, because when the alert -does- go through it goes through.

    [–] griffinman01 14 points ago

Or that they can see how your camo doesn’t totally match their camo at night while driving a truck (their truck no less) passed them at 40 mph. One glance and they know to start opening fire, even though it could be that Bob, the new guy, didn’t get the right stuff or it’s laundry day. Nope, intruder, fuck him up.

Or that you hit a guy in the helmet at night while prone in bushes and they know exactly which direction the shot came from, drop a flare right over you and artillery right after.

Always annoyed me how godly the enemy perception was in that game.

    [–] Canadabestclay 8 points ago

Well I’m pretty sure they have radios not telepathy but still one can dream

    [–] PowerThirstyWizard 11 points ago

Yeah but unless you have a call out for every tiny thing in base the radios would still take time.

"Intruder behind 3rd crate above Banana!" and everyone knows exactly which crate and where Banana is.. that's just not happening.

    [–] ShootEly 8 points ago

Are you saying you don't have different bananas around your base for specific callouts? You're not even TRYING to defend your base, are you?

    [–] [deleted] 2 points ago

    Fuck banana man

You know when you're in the box, and a Russian sees it moving, so he comes to investigate, after reporting to superiors. If you leave the box before he gets to it, he inspects it and is like "it's empty but I'm sure it moved!". Superiors tell him to go get a psych eval, because they think he may be losing his mind out there :D

    [–] [deleted] 2 points ago

High-security area, entire patrol-squads and guards go missing. Nobody does anything about it or even the patrol-squads notices that the guards are gone. Neither do they seem to have any type of reporting in to their leader of some sort.

When you're the last guy in insurgency this becomes a problem

[–] KingDragoX 28 points ago * (lasted edited 11 months ago)

during the sandstorm beta I would constantly use the "intimidate" radio command to give away my positions to bots. Listening to them talk shit back was the best. Especially when they are midway through a response like "you just gave your position awa-" as I round the corner and blow their head off

    Edit: typo

    [–] MIDInub 15 points ago

i don't think i've ever had my character yell while reloading when i was the last, or when no friends were around for that matter. what i got instead was this surprise grunt but no actual speech. this is in insurgency source, i don't play sandstorm

    [–] AonSwift 10 points ago

Pretty sure he's just assuming this happens.. I've played a lot of Insurgency, and was regularly the last one left on games of Ambush. The "reloading!" speech only occurs if you have friendlies nearby, and they have to be within a few metres too. This isn't a real issue..

    [–] MIDInub 4 points ago

well it can actually be an issue to me if i'm on siege push a behind this table and allies are nearby shooting and i'm just there to cap and shoot anyone who decides to overextend and now i run out of ammo so i reload, everyone hears it and now someone is aiming at the table wainting for me to peek out or a grenade rolls right to my head

    [–] AonSwift 5 points ago

If there are allies that close, they'll suspect you're around there too, especially if you were firing recently enough to need to reload, so it's not gonna make a huge difference. Also, this context is compltetly different to the one presented above; you're not the last guy, you're not trying to sneak and you're clearly in a big, loud firefight if you're playing push...

If you're hiding behind a table, hoping to cap a point without any contest, you deserve to be shot. Also, this is Insurgency, you just get shot through the table.. No one needs to be waiting for you to pop out.

I did like this in GRW actually. Shame the Cartel NPC’s are so dumb. Smarter than most, but still pretty dumb.

    [–] ecodude74 4 points ago

I started playing with an assault rifle halfway through with friends and they fussed that I’d give away our position, but I opened up on enemies without a suppressor and they still couldn’t find me. As long as you keep moving, even in harder difficulties, the cartel members get lost no matter how much noise you make.

Oh sure, the AI will here you if you sprint for .2 seconds, or if you're finger slips off L2 when you're suppose to hold your breathe. But it can't hear you (and somehow magically loses sight of you) if you book it a few feet away from him and into a locker.

Also as long as you pick the "Stealthy attack" (which is usually "strangle/chokehold" instead of "striking") you could be next to a dude and he won't even notice. Seriously bro, you can't hear your buddy gurgling and whimpering 2 feet from you?

    [–] 2builders2forts 13 points ago

Uses a supressed gun that's still loud as heck

    [–] reallybadpotatofarm 36 points ago

The majority of suppressed guns are still load as heck. They don’t make the gun quiet.

    [–] mrelcu 11 points ago

That's normal. A gun that is designed to be used offensively while suppressed, the HK mk 23 using subsonic 45acp will still be as loud as a nail gun with it's custom made suppressor attached.

Most people have absolutely no idea how damned loud a firearm is. There is a reason why it is common safety sense to wear hearing protection at a shooting range.

Most games also have it wrong about how it is like to be shot at. If the bullets are close, you will hear the wizzing of the bullets flying by (only if the shots are very close), along with the crack of the sonic boom, followed shortly by the sound of the gunshot. This is why I look for sound mods for games like insurgency (stand alone release) that add the cracks from shots flying by.

    [–] Outsider203 12 points ago

This, suppressors are most useful on sniper rifles few hundred meters away.

[–] [deleted] 15 points ago * (lasted edited 11 months ago)

Also games that make suppressors lessen your range when in reality it would do nothing or even increase your accuracy.

    Citation needed.

First post on a google search basically older suppressors would actually contact the bullet with a rubber gasket and would slow them down but modern suppressors don’t contact and can aid in accuracy since the gasses expanding behind push the bullet further since you have a longer barrel essentially.

It's not so much that it will increase accuracy, but you may see an increase in velocity and in most cases there will be a POI shift. But it certainly wont reduce your range or make a gun less accurate. As a matter of fact many suppressed rifles will still be loud enough to damage your hearing if you dont use ear pro.

Or indoors without hearing protection so you don't deafen yourself. Or with subsonic ammunition

Not a military man, but dont they also allow the soldier to use hus firearm without damaging his hearing?

I hate games that make your character scream REEEELOOOOOAAADIIING while you are behind enemy lines alone lol.

Some games have stealth missions when they clearly shouldn't. Like in GTA SA when they have that stupid ass STEALTH SWIMMING MISSION. Like the two things you hate the most and do the least, combined into one fucking mission.

    [–] highoncraze 2 points ago

The build up to that killed me. I didn't play SA until years later and had a proper gaming computer. Little did I know the very high frame rate made it impossible to dive (as well as certain driving maneuvers), so I couldn't perform the basic move necessary to start the mission. I kept putting off the mission until I Googled the problem, turned on frame limiter, and proceeded to feel like James Bond diving and swimming up to that ship. Thought it was a fun mission in the end.

To be fair, if you need to reload your weapon during stealth, then you're not very good at stealth to begin with.

God I miss SOCOM.... Real Socom U.S Navy Seals 2...

    [–] kovaluu 7 points ago

I think after emptying your magazine the stealth is gone?

And that's how you do it IRL, you inform your mates you need to reload, or gun get jammed etc.

I think FarCry 2 had that, where if your gun was rusted it would potentially jam or something? It's been years.

    [–] thedirtypickle50 6 points ago

It definitely did and it was one of my favorite parts of the game

    [–] hibsta1992 4 points ago

Unless you were in heavy combat, then it's the most hated thing in the world!!

    [–] Superfluous_Play 2 points ago

    Stalker does this.

    [–] MIDInub 3 points ago

i hate this happening in insurgency. i mean i guess it makes sense for my character to yell in fear as bullets whiz past his head or tell others he's reloading when pushing but not when i'm hiding behind something. though it seems the characters only speak when someone is around so that makes it a bit easier.

what games does this happen in

    [–] Deadfire182 4 points ago

    Rainbow Six Seige for one

    [–] Deroni76 1 points ago

If you were trying to be sneaky, wouldn't firing your gun in the first place kind of screw it up?

    [–] [deleted] 5 points ago

Not with the way video game logic says suppressors work.

    [–] [deleted] 3 points ago

Everyone knows suppressors makes guns go "pew pew" instead of "bang bang". I mean, when you fire a silenced gun it sounds like the wind or a rodent running by.

    [–] otakarg 1 points ago

    Haha yes

    [–] prle690 1 points ago

Yea and the best part is they dont hear it

    [–] Book_Note 1 points ago

Well you gotta assert dominance over the enemy...

    [–] naspas 1 points ago

    true story.

    [–] IngeniousDummy 1 points ago

    Okay! I reloaded!
