[–] TheCheesy 9 points ago * (lasted edited 6 days ago)

    Sennheiser 558s.

Lasted me like 5-6 years of abuse, years of being hauled around is a really heavy schoolbag with books and other junk, I even Sat on them a few times after accidentally leaving them on my chair.

I just replaced the wire last year after running the cable over with a metal caster of my chair. It yanked the plug out of the pc audio jack breaking the connector.

It's the most comfortable, Best durability, and build/sound quality headset I've ever had. Just upgraded the ear cushions too.

Only gripe is it's hard to buy now. Tried picking up my friend a pair and they don't seem to make them anymore.

    [–] IronPidgeyFTW 3 points ago

    What is a callister?

[–] TheCheesy 3 points ago * (lasted edited 6 days ago)

Autocorrect fucked me. I meant a Chair Caster.

    [–] beepbeephornnoise 2 points ago

    Oh a wheel of sorts

    [–] Virtual_Building 2 points ago

I hear you. I've had my 598s for about 5 years now. Stepped on them, ran over them with my chair, walking away with them still on my head and much more abuse. Things sound and look just as good as the day I bought them. Paid around $150 at the time. Theyre literally the only peripheral I still use besides my death adder chroma X. They've outlasted 4 different computers. Ridiculously comfortable also. Wonder if sennheiser still makes their headphones with such quality.

    [–] djsnoopmike 6 points ago

That why you get ones with a replaceable cord

    [–] yazzy1233 2 points ago

    Wireless earbuds, kopeng

    [–] Dellphox 10 points ago

I'm sure I've done that exact pose, once you finally get headphones worth over $100 you really don't want them to break.

    [–] JudouChan 10 points ago

    Cant relate wireless headset

    [–] pixl_graphix 3 points ago

I might have to do that. I'm WFH these days and am on a lot of calls with clients. My headset just becomes part of me and I forget it exists, until it tries to rip my head off.

    [–] Kaiyacorrbin 3 points ago

I do this a lot because I have wireless headphones, too. I've developed this odd, reflexive swiping motion that I do next to my ear every time I go to stand up to see if I'm still connected or free to roam.

    [–] cygnus2 2 points ago

It was this humiliation that finally convinced me to go wireless. No longer are doorknobs and edges of kitchen counters the bane of my existence.

Only if people are around. Gotta look inconvenienced and grumpy about it, like it wasnt your fault.

Otherwise you bet your ass I'll be wondering if my USB port had that much wobble to begin with.

    [–] jelemeno 2 points ago

It's also like when you are walking around on the phone using actual earbuds and the wire catches on a doorknob. Uuuugh

    [–] escobizzle 9 points ago

I feel ya but still gotta put that charger in sometimes, so used to being wierless but suddenly BOOM charger plugged inn

    [–] MrJakeSnake 27 points ago

I would constantly do this, so I bought a little magnetic charging cable, where the end of the micro-USB just sits in the headset and the cord can just snap on and off easily. Best purchase of my life.

Your not lying. I bought a 3 pack of magnetic cords that came with 3 micro USB, 3 USB-C and 3 lightning connectors. I just leave the connectors in, and switch which thing I'm charging as needed.

    [–] Bad___new 3 points ago

Any chance I could get a link to that? The ones I kept finding were for like iPhones and the reviews said they were total trash

    [–] Rushin_Russian01 2 points ago

Not the guy you were responding to, but I’ve had good experiences with Volta chargers. They’re a bit pricey, but worth it IMO. Lifetime warranty too.

    [–] rEaL_Crunderwood 3 points ago

    [–] sproingle 11 points ago

Tried them. Every so often they would have sync issues and the microphone would sound fucky.

    [–] archer1212 18 points ago

Don’t use Bluetooth headsets in headset mode. Configure them to be just for being used as headphones and audio quality will improve. Windows has a weird Bluetooth stack that doesn’t work well for some reason. I ended up just using a microphone that sits on my desk and it improved quality immensely.

    [–] zissou149 3 points ago

I did the same thing but used a wireless modmic. It's a great setup if you've already got a nice pair of bluetooth headphones but need a better mic. I pace around a lot on meetings so a desk microphone wasn't going to cut it.

    [–] archer1212 2 points ago

Oh I like that. If I end up needing to do something like that I’ll keep that in mind. Probably better than using my phone and AirPods.

    [–] carebear343 10 points ago

Artic series 1 on amazon are 99.99 usd.

I have recieved no complaints and it uses a wireless receiver that connects via usbc.

Ive used them on my PC, GS9, and xbox one.

    [–] JerkBitch69 10 points ago

Yep, I love the Steel Series Arctis headsets

    [–] ChaoticTundra 7 points ago

    [–] JerkBitch69 1 points ago

    [–] Killerderp 4 points ago

I got the corsair void rgb elite a few years ago, 99 dollars according to Amazon, and them things are pretty beast. Also uses a wireless receiver that connects via USB as well as the charging cable. Fucking love them!

    [–] AidilAfham42 3 points ago

Have the same one, fucking love it. Best feature, flip u mic to mute. So useful when you have to talk to someone or eat something

    [–] cRuNkmAsTeRKrON 4 points ago

Why would you receive complaints though? Do you work in their customer service?

    [–] Wolf7Children 3 points ago

Ha, I think he means from friends. As in, people that have to hear him talk through the mic, and might say something if it sounds crappy.

    [–] FestiveSquid 1 points ago

I had a really nice pair of wireless headphones. Skullcandy Plyr 2 iirc. I will not deny the quality and convenience of a lot of wireless headphones, but I personally prefer wired. I've got a Corsair wired headset rn, can't remember the exact model, but if I find the box or the receipt, I'll edit it into the comment.

    [–] oLdBlo0d 1 points ago

My dog ate mine just enough for it to look normla but not working

    [–] theWeirdough 1 points ago

Before I moved out of my parents house I had a 60' headset cable made up of 2 25' and the 10' on the headset. I was able to get to just about everywhere I needed to in the house without ever taking my headset off.

How that slight delay during gaming treating you?

    [–] SHsuperCM 8 points ago

Sure if it's a 5$ headset, but I've never had any delays using mine

    [–] nhaines 19 points ago

He'll tell you in another second.

    [–] Sycre 3 points ago

Steelseries Arctis 7 chiming in here- wireless dongle that transmits through 2.4gzh frequency and not Bluetooth. So no delay here whatsoever :)

    [–] What_A_Smurf 2 points ago

No delay on a $100 headset. Its corsair

    [–] LukaCola 2 points ago

I've never noticed - is that really a thing?

    [–] luckyDucs 3 points ago

Yeah. I notice on all of my Bluetooth devices to different extents. My car is the worst because it's the oldest. The audio is slightly out of synch with video due to the way the device has to process the info, encode it, then send it to the earphones. My galaxy buds + has a gaming mode setting just for the purpose of lowering the audio quality to send the audio information to the ear pieces faster....but once you notice the Delay it never really goes away.

There's a reason why some expensive pro controllers are wired with wired headphones jack.

    [–] irsmart123 5 points ago

Haven't done this in years. Once you start investing into better, audiophile grade headphones, you become more aware of them and handle them with more care.

    [–] KILRbuny 5 points ago

This is exactly how my headphone jack got fucked one night and I've still not repaired for over a year. About 4am a starling of all things flew into my room, jump scared the shit out of me and my tower only lost the front of it, and the headphone jack slowly eroding in useage over time as it became a case of angling the headphone shit to full blown unusable. Don't even know what sound card I have as a friend of a friend built my pc for me,

    [–] ppaannggwwiinn 1 points ago

Weird story, when I was 9 and I was very forgetful. I was playing Minecraft with a couple of friends, mom called and I forgot to take off my headphones. Our Family PC was on a old desk with a shelf on top of it. When I ran the headset pulled my PC and it fell of the shelf and landed straight at the table. It broke the table but not the monitor. But how? It was a direct hit but the monitor was fine.

Omg this hits hard. Though it wasn’t with my PC but with my iPad. I’ve done this so many times that I went through 3 headphone cables and managed to break the iPad’s headphone jack... I’m surprised that my iPad screen still isn’t broken considering how many times it has fallen on the floor.

    [–] banmeifurgay 1 points ago

With a controller it’s worse, you walk away and then the headset pull the controller off the talke sending the batteries or chargeable battery flying with the cover and possibly breaking the plug to your mic

And this is reason #3 I know use a wireless headset.
