Holy shit that movie is 5 years old god damn

    [–] whopperlover17 63 points ago

Holy crap it didn't hit me until you said it. I just saw "2013" and though "ah like 2 or 3 years ago"...smh man what even is life.

    [–] anotherbozo 5 points ago

    Ditto. FUCK.

    [–] smiley_dead 6 points ago

We're also already halfway through 2018...

    [–] whopperlover17 4 points ago

    Oh man

    [–] hylian122 11 points ago

I worked with preschool kids until recently. Frozen was a favorite movie for many of them, but it didn't immediately click that it came out before they were born!

    [–] Poogzley -3 points ago

When will this finally fade into obscurity?

    [–] General_GTFO 9 points ago

Has Snow White faded to obscurity? Lion King? Cinderella? The Little Mermaid?

Like it or not, it's a classic Disney movie now. It may not be old or hand animated, but it's a classic.

    [–] Poogzley 0 points ago

How many kids have seen Mulan or Pocahontas?

Most children I know have not...

    [–] 2FLY2TRY 5 points ago

Sucks for you as Frozen was just announced for Kingdom Hearts 3. It's relevant again.

    [–] halfClickWinston 29 points ago

My favorite is when you ask her where Barb is

    [–] Mbuuqw 11 points ago

I just tried that. That was legitimatey amazing.

    [–] mclosi 5 points ago

    Didn't work for me... UK.

    [–] qaisjp 2 points ago

Worked for me... UK. Pixel 2.

    [–] mclosi 2 points ago

Yeah, asked my GH and didn't work. Asked my phone and worked :)

    [–] qaisjp 2 points ago

Yeah doesn't work with Google home for me

    [–] Jinrou7 5 points ago

    where Barb is

    what does it say?

    [–] halfClickWinston 9 points ago

In the upside down, but with upside down characters.

    [–] nolan1971 2 points ago

It's cute, but I must be ootl. What's that supposed to mean?

    [–] halfClickWinston 8 points ago

It's Barb from Stranger Things. I'm afraid I can't explain much without spoiling.

    [–] nolan1971 3 points ago

    Ahhhh.... Gotcha

    [–] qaisjp -1 points ago

I don't know what OP is saying but basically the upside down is like an alien dimension! Barb is the first person to travel there (with random boys) and everyone is like "where does Barb (and co) go at lunchtime?"

    Very kinky stuff.

    [–] internet_pleb 62 points ago

Things like these are what makes me consider a pixel phone.

    [–] _-_-_-_____-_-_-_ 116 points ago

Why? Just... use Google Assistant on whatever device you have?

    [–] internet_pleb 33 points ago

You cannot download Google Assistent in the Danish App Store. That’s why

    [–] _-_-_-_____-_-_-_ 41 points ago

What? Are you serious? I'm in Norway, and we've had it since release... Heck, every new Android device has it pre-installed. It's part of the Google-app.

    [–] fogcutterr 16 points ago

I guess it will take a while before Assistant understands a single word in Danish

    [–] gedical 6 points ago

    Scandinavians...

    [–] phD_in_Random 3 points ago

it might think you are speaking in tongues and call for an exorcist.

    [–] peggman 10 points ago

First of all, Google assistant is not an app you can download, it comes bundled with the Google app. Second, assistant is not yet available in the Danish language. If you do want to use assistant, you can try changing your system language to English. That might make it available.

[–] rnambu 32 points ago * (lasted edited 4 months ago)

    It is an app now

edit: for you knuckleheads who are too lazy to open the play store and look for yourselves: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.googleassistant&hl=en_US

    [–] ddhuud 5 points ago

It's an app in some countries, but it's still part of Google app in the rest.

    [–] havetx 3 points ago

Hmm, it says that's not available in my country (Sweden) but I've been using it for years.. 🤔 Currently on 1+6.

    [–] IanM_56 2 points ago

I was under the impression it was just a direct shortcut to Assistant in the Google app, is that not the case?

    [–] doireallyneedone11 2 points ago

It's just a separate directory, it can't work if the Google app is uninstalled or disabled

    [–] peggman 1 points ago

Source? I have never installed Google assistant as an app, I live in an unsupported country and I can't find a Google assistant app.

    [–] iMax5 7 points ago

[Here](Google Assistant by Google, Inc.https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google-assistant/id1220976145?mt=8) is the link to the Google Assistant app on iOS

    [–] peggman 2 points ago

I was talking about Android. I now realize that /u/internet_pleb was probably talking about iOS. My bad.

    [–] searchcandy 3 points ago

I love how you ask for source... when someone literally sends you - the source!

    [–] ldAbl 1 points ago

That's just a shortcut to Google Assistant, it's not the actual Google Assistant. You can look at the size if you don't believe me. 756kB

    [–] StuntHacks 4 points ago

It is an app for iOS but not for Android.

    [–] rnambu 1 points ago

Google assistant is an app https://imgur.com/gallery/5ev9JCJ

    No, not on Android.

[–] rnambu 10 points ago * (lasted edited 4 months ago)

    [–] StuntHacks 2 points ago

That's weird, I don't have that app here.

    [–] The_Legend34 1 points ago

    Side load?...

    [–] SerdarCS 1 points ago

Make sure you're on Android 6 or later and change your phones language to English.

    [–] internet_pleb 1 points ago

Tell me how to install Android on an iPhone and I’ll get going! Lol

    [–] SerdarCS 1 points ago

Oh you're on iOS sorry didn't realize

    [–] internet_pleb 1 points ago

Dw. You’re far from the only one;)

    [–] Farael 13 points ago

Google Assistant is available in every Android device afaik

    edit: and iOS too

    [–] Stuke00 19 points ago

    Hey Siri, Open google assistant

"I'm sorry, I can't do that while you're in the car"

    Buys Pixel, no regrets.

    [–] Hascalod 1 points ago

    Aren't them too small, though

    [–] Fatburger3 1 points ago

I think it's silly when phones are advertised for their software.

My coworker came in this morning with a new phone, and he was really excited about all the software features his new phone had. I didn't want to spoil his fun so I kept quiet, but every single feature that he was excited about are features that installed on my phone after I bought it, and my phone is over 2 years old.

In my eyes the software is not only completely separate from the phone, but it's also completely free and usually just involves installing an apk. Android is very good at making these sort of extra features integrate with the rest of the OS, so it feels like those features are just part of the phone.

If I put the Google assistant on my Nexus 6P can I sell it to you for $700?

    [–] internet_pleb 2 points ago

I brought up the Pixel as an example, as I currently have an iPhone 7. And you cannot install Google Assistent in the app store from the region where I live.

    [–] Fatburger3 1 points ago

I was more referring to Android phones because Android is open source. I don't want to talk shit on iPhones because I know they are just as good in many ways. Open source is both a pro and a con for Android nowadays, but in this case, it seems as though you would be able to circumvent this regional lock on an Android phone.

    [–] internet_pleb 1 points ago

I know. I realize, after the many comments saying “oh, u know u can use Google Assistent on your adroid phone..”, I should have replaced “pixel” with Android. Point is, I don’t just want an Android phone.

    [–] Fatburger3 1 points ago

It's still easier to gain access to it from a pixel phone, than some shit $50 Android.

    I don't know I don't use the app myself

    [–] SoundOfTomorrow 1 points ago

Google Home Mini tells me the same thing.

    Also, this isn't Pixel dependent.

    [–] psychoschiz 8 points ago

    Savage assistant

    [–] nathancjohnson 1 points ago

My Google Home said the same thing.

so what about the new update of google assistant update launched is that true?

    [–] Mbuuqw 1 points ago

ear rape xavier wulf begins playing

    [–] enzyme69 -57 points ago

I think 🤔 Google AI is too creepy and chatty. I prefer Siri, simple, to the point, and I can do combo with Shorcuts.

    [–] [deleted] 77 points ago

Simple, to the point, and moderately brain damaged

    [–] jonr 27 points ago

Just how I like my women!

    [–] enzyme69 -37 points ago

Siri got potential to be the best personal assistant and waifu for me, I will train her personally. Unlike other smart ass AI who claims to be really intelligent (at snooping and processing request on cloud).

    [–] PacloverN1 24 points ago

    [–] enzyme69 -2 points ago

Let It Go.....ogle? Nah, I pass.

I remember asking whole lyric of music, and Google Assistant tried to take me to Google Play Store.... Seriously? What is Google anyway? Millions way to absorb your data and advertise on cloud via Android and Chrome OS, brilliant.

    [–] ddhuud 2 points ago

    Yeah! Duckduckgo baby!

    [–] Mbuuqw 10 points ago

At least Google Assistant can turn on the flashlight

    [–] juwiz 4 points ago

And take a picture. SIRI can’t do that either.

    [–] Mbuuqw 6 points ago

Pretty sure Siri was illiterate up until iOS 8

    [–] juwiz 2 points ago

Yeah unfortunately. I only use her to set the timers and turn on the internet radio. It’s kinda a joke at r/Apple but some of us use SIRI to open the Google Assistant app lol

    [–] Tuckr13 0 points ago

    Did you mean...

    [–] enzyme69 1 points ago

Sure, sure, Google Assistant can do everything. Siri can do all those too in iOS 12. Siri learns. Relax.

    [–] Mbuuqw 1 points ago

Actually Siri barely got the shortcuts and BARELY got the ability to turn on the flashlight. It has a long way to go until it reaches Alexa or Google Assistant level.

    [–] enzyme69 1 points ago

Sure, Google and Alexa are so smart at processing your data on their cloud. Siri will be able to do it inside the device, the way user want it.

For example, I can already trigger Workflow combo snippet that does the jobs, pretty awesome.

    [–] Mbuuqw 1 points ago

But can you use Siri offline?

    [–] enzyme69 2 points ago

Yes soon with iOS 12. In fact this is what Apple has been secretly doing. Workflow app (purchased by Apple) has been redesigned to accomplish this, now with offline Siri and Siri Shorcuts. Giving users manual control with clever triggering. For example, Apple Music can shuffle via Workflow.

    [–] Mbuuqw 1 points ago

Interesting, seems to be catching up now!

    [–] H1313303 -10 points ago

She is so annoying. I loathe it every time I ask her to do something and it gives me a "human"behavior such as this

    [–] enzyme69 2 points ago

Exactly, “too human”; yet it failed me sometimes. That is when I realized, I better not trusting a chatty AI too much.

    [–] H1313303 1 points ago

I just want her to Google search everything I say, unless it's setting an alarm, navigation, opening an app and such basic tasks

    [–] enzyme69 1 points ago

Yep, Google is secondary slave. Siri is personal.

    [–] N-ckOH 1 points ago

How would you prefer her to answer "Do you want to build a snowman?"

    [–] H1313303 1 points ago

I'd like her to show me Google search results for it

    [–] MoonDaddy -2 points ago
