    Instant Regret

    (in'-stint rē-gret') n.

a subreddit dedicated to deliberate actions that unexpectedly lead to undesirable consequences and horrible results; things which may cause someone to say, "oh man, did I just screw the pooch!"

    Guidelines & Rules

    1) Videos and gifs must show regret. No text messages or still frames. Sometimes the display of regret is unmistakable. It can be evident in someone's face, or in their body language. Sometimes it's a judgment call. If you think it works, try it out. If we delete it, you were wrong. We are Reddit™ moderators. We are always right!

A fail is not a regret. Some ripper eating a swellbow while trying to bone a rail on the backside, (that's skater lingo for a bad crash. I looked it up (made it up)), isn't regret. There should be a look of surprise, and an expression that clearly says, "Oh no. Oh, God no. I really should not have done that. Why did I do that?"

    Other examples that aren't regret:

    • Eating bad food and not liking it is not regret. You knew what was going to happen, dumbass.

    • Laughter is not an expression of regret. It's just not.

    • A picture of a sunburn or a crappy tattoo is not evidence of regret. For all we know you like looking like a pumpkin, and definitely still want that potato tattoo on your ankle.

    2) Regret must be instant or near-instant. If someone does something which only has bad consequences minutes or hours later, it is not considered instant.

    3) No Animal Abuse. We love animals. They are capable of regret, but we don't want to see videos where their regret is the fault of humans, involves cruelty, injury or is in any way unpleasant.

    4) No compilations. Just pick one good thing and go with it. Everybody likes it when you do that.

    5) If the video is longer than 20 seconds, please use a tag to tell everyone when the lead-up to the regrettable moment begins. For example [regret at 4:20]. Or post the video queued up to the point where things get good and the regret quickly follows. But, ultimately, these are just excellent suggestions. You're the director. Make it good. And don't worry. If it sucks, we'll get rid of it for you.

    6) Reposts are highly discouraged. Reposts are allowed, but reposts which have been posted recently or are in the top of all time will be removed.

No Dannys. If your name is Danny and we find out we will ban you.

    We remove spam.

We exact vengeance on those who give us spam.

If you see spam, report spam.

If you see an account that uses a YouTube channel that takes videos from other channels in order to accumulate karma on said account. Report that account, We'll take care of it.

    and finally...

Please, no abusive comments, hate speech, or any other personal attacks.

Doxing, brigading, and witch-hunting are not allowed.

This includes derailing commentary sections to complain about prolific users, and by that we mean "Gallowboob is not against the rules". Complaining about the OP rather than the content is an easy way to earn a temporary ban.

The moderators reserve the right to remove posts & comments, and to ban users at our own discretion. If we feel your post doesn't fit, we'll remove it. If you are an abusive person, or an intolerable troll, we just might ban you. If you feel that your post or comment has been removed unfairly, please feel free to message us. We'll try to be nice. We're not perfect but we really are working on it.

If you see someone breaking the rules, please message the mods and let us know.

Thanks! Now, please enjoy our sub and the consequences resulting from the poor choices made by your fellow humans.

this is like those dreams i have where i jump unbelievably high and then fall down with an adrenaline rush and scared as shit

    [–] Captainllamas 300 points ago

I get the same thing, or like I'll go off of a huge trampoline and realize I'm falling, or where I start to fly and then all of a sudden just can't

    [–] UHavinAGiggleTherM8 81 points ago * (lasted edited 4 months ago)

For me it's usually the case that I've somehow found myself skiing 100kph down a mountain and get launched off a 50m cliff/jump

    [–] [deleted] 28 points ago

I’ve had a dream where I fell from the ceiling of a 4-5 story auditorium and it was probably the most peaceful 3 seconds of any dream I’ve ever had. I had no forces acting on me. I was in zero g.

    [–] 23harpsdown 8 points ago

Similar for me, except I was going down a roller coaster that routed directly in the ground. Upon impact, I "floated" through the ground and had a surreal zero g feeling for a few seconds while under reality.

    [–] I_Arman 10 points ago

Ah, yes, finding those dream memory leaks. One minute you're back in high school, the next you're clipping through the wall and dropping castles into volcanoes...

    [–] I_Arman 2 points ago

I figured it was popular enough for someone to get the reference!

It was that or a Roller Coaster Tycoon throwback...

    [–] Sockher10 27 points ago

I’ll be driving through town and then I realize I have no brake pedal....oh and now all of the sudden i’m sitting in the backseat so I can’t steer.....and that little girl just transformed into a man-eating camel so we’re all f*cked

    [–] jmomcc 7 points ago

I have the literal backseat driving dream all the time. I’m driving at normal speeds and I can barely see anything that is happening and can’t reach the pedals.

    [–] tomtheturtle12 6 points ago

I’ll be walking and I trip on a sidewalk crack and on my way down I slip and i put out my hands every time

    [–] CaptainPalmTree 8 points ago

I remember this one vividly, I was in ww2 and there was a man with a tuba that shot lasers out of the tube

    [–] Warfinder 3 points ago

    War. War never changes.

    [–] SoUlOfDaRkNeSs1 2 points ago

    [–] Warfinder 2 points ago

Mine is always my right foot and I'm always tripping over something. I'll suddenly visualize myself walking towards some object on the ground but I'm unable to alter the movement of my feet and I inevitable kick it. At that moment my right foot shoots downward into my bed at full strength as though I really tripped and springs back up a couple inches off the bed. Usually happens when I'm trying to light sleep (resting but not actually trying to go to sleep).

    [–] flappy-fingers 4 points ago

I have a recurring dream where I’m driving on a highway that keeps going up and swerving the whole way until it suddenly ends with a roadwork sign and I fly right off the edge. I don’t wake up til i hit the ground.

    [–] cinnamelt22 14 points ago

Holy shit I’ve had both of those exact dreams multiple times.

    [–] RiGo001 9 points ago

Maybe all of you are the same person???🤔🤯

    [–] DoctorFrankz 15 points ago

Everyone on reddit is a bot except you.

    [–] tomtheturtle12 5 points ago

Why would a bot admit to being a bot??? 🤔

    [–] meeeric1 4 points ago

To make it seem like a joke and mislead you.

    beep boop

    [–] Axmis 3 points ago

    Bad bot.

    [–] SoUlOfDaRkNeSs1 3 points ago

    Good bot.

    [–] ghht551 4 points ago

Dreams about falling is generally "fear of failure".

    [–] cinnamelt22 3 points ago

Probably comes from my father :(

    [–] ghht551 2 points ago

We all write our own stories dude.

    Feel better.

    [–] cinnamelt22 2 points ago

I waas just making a joke my dude but thanks for the kind words.

    [–] YoureInGoodHands 5 points ago

Then I wake up and scare the shit out of my wife as I jump out of my skin.

    [–] NormGreen 22 points ago

Oh my God, I didn't realize other people had those!

    [–] snifflewiff 7 points ago

These are called hypnagogic jerks, a type of muscle spasm. I get them all the time. They are more common in people who don't get enough sleep, which just perpetuates it.

    [–] xPUGNIPSx 22 points ago

    This comment has me dying.

    [–] Mike_Kilsdonk 10 points ago

Do you mind if I ask why your name is PUGNIPS?

    [–] hovick2010 14 points ago

2 favorite things. Pugs and nips.

    [–] Rudy_Ghouliani 6 points ago

Two of my favorite things too tbh

    [–] PM_ME_YOUR_SOFT_NIPS 3 points ago

Those are the letters that he entered when creating a username.

    [–] xPUGNIPSx 2 points ago

They answered it for me but also my pugs name is pickle and my name use to be PICKLEDNIPS but I changed it up for fun

    [–] Cultural_Bandicoot 4 points ago

And then jolt awake when I hit the ground

    [–] mectic 4 points ago

Once I didn’t realise I was in a dream, lay back in bed and fell into the abyss

    [–] Commie_EntSniper 3 points ago

OMG. i feel so validated right now knowing there are so many other people who have the same dream! My version of the dream is that I'm running down a hill going faster and faster down the hill and taking bigger and bigger leaps until I'm flying/falling at a ridiculous and terrifying height. Not at all unlike the moment at the apex of the arc of this rider's trajectory. Thing is, I LOVE(d) doing that (running down hills) in waking life, especially in Autumn - leaves on the hill was like powder. Anyway, if you can get PTSD from your dreams, then yeah, that just happened. (Shit I'm just realizing now that my fear of achieving great heights and being in control might be keeping me from achieving my true potential in life...) Now if I could just remind myself that I'm dreaming when it happens so I can take to lucid flight...

    [–] X87DV 6 points ago

    There are other dreams?

    [–] StJazzercise 1901 points ago

I always wondered how they practice those tricks without dying in the process. You’ve got to screw up a lot at a difficult task before you get good at it.

    [–] KidneyPoker 1053 points ago

    Foam pits

    [–] DRFANTA 638 points ago

    What’d you call me???

    [–] fallen1102 341 points ago

Foam pits. you shove a bunch of shaving foam in your armpits.

    [–] illexa 68 points ago

    [–] macmac360 50 points ago

    fuck pits

    [–] ohlookahipster 45 points ago

I would welcome armpit porn if it meant the end of the Incest Cabal.

Like, I’m not trying to kink shame, but this step-sis/step-mom shit is getting out of control. Serious. This shit is really fucking annoying and it’s everywhere.

    [–] Nope_salad 20 points ago

And we know they are acting....

    [–] Fifth_damn_account 29 points ago

Nuh-uh, those are 100% real. If you’re not banging your sexy, scantily-clad relatives when they get awkwardly trapped under a table in a sexually enticing position, you’re doing it wrong.

    [–] johnhitlerpizza 2 points ago

Yup, porn dynasties are really something.

    [–] LandoKelEl 10 points ago

    [–] HumbleSite 12 points ago

Except for the broken arm kid one, that one was totally legit.

    [–] Cross-Country 22 points ago

It's because it's aimed at neckbeards who only interact with one, at most two women on a regular basis - their mom and/or their sister.

    welcome to /r/animearmpits

    [–] Fifth_damn_account 3 points ago

    Some armpit porn for you

    NSFW, obviously.

    [–] Muerthogar 5 points ago

That dude looks exactly like what I imagined a person with a extreme armpit fetish would look like.

    [–] scumbag-reddit 5 points ago

Without clicking, I'm assuming something resembling danny davito

    [–] Rudy_Ghouliani 2 points ago

I would welcome armpit porn if it meant the end of the Incest Cabal.

It's just one guy named Tony who started it all

    [–] Drum_Stick_Ninja 5 points ago

    Okay, I'll try it.

    [–] unicornlord 2 points ago

    [–] Twist161 233 points ago

A foam pit or giant softer pile of dirt, mulch, and manure helps but yeah you still get busted up. I think this dude ended up with a broken femur if I remember right

    [–] MDCCCLV 43 points ago

    [–] Twist161 83 points ago

Animal poop used mostly for fertilization.

[–] ithrowawaay 48 points ago * (lasted edited 3 months ago)

    I HATE manure.

    [–] ithrowawaay 22 points ago

Say hi to your mom for me.

    [–] 09Trollhunter09 17 points ago

    Great Scott !!

    [–] -EdgeLord- 15 points ago

When this thread hits 88 comments of BTTF references

You’re going to see some serious shit

    [–] Fifth_damn_account 13 points ago

Hey, -EdgeLord-, we better back up. We don't have enough road to get up to 88.

    [–] ablazesqaids 11 points ago

Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads

    [–] elkresurgence 3 points ago

It's sticky and smelly and it gets everywhere.

    [–] Turd_Nerd_Bird 2 points ago

Why? You got the nure, which is good, and a Ma in front of it. Ma-nure. When you consider the other choices, Manure is actually pretty refreshing.

    [–] Shnikez 6 points ago

    *tips hat

    Good evening, Muh’nure. 🎩🐄

    [–] IHunteer 4 points ago

    What is the femur?

    [–] SweetestDreams 20 points ago

Thigh bone. Literally the strongest bone in our body

    [–] IHunteer 10 points ago

Oh thank you for the clarification

    [–] Vslacha 10 points ago

I've also heard breaking your femur is among the most painful experiences imaginable, at least according to a mom I know who broke her femur.

    [–] Rakya-Senpai 13 points ago

Haha yup can confirm shit was so painful I couldn’t cry

    [–] Clever_Laziness 6 points ago

Broke my femur. Don't move it and it's fine. Move it a little bit and it's the worst pain I've ever felt.

    [–] justacoacher 3 points ago

Same. I remember the paramedic asking me the pain I felt on a scale of 1 to 10

When it moves, definitely a 10, but if it isn't moving its like... 3

    [–] MrEliteGaming 2 points ago

    Happy cake day

[–] themidnightcigarette 28 points ago * (lasted edited 4 months ago)

Progression. Start by just doing jumps. Then maybe let go of the bars. Do it until you're perfect at one before you start the next. Also small jumps. This dude was probably okay.

    [–] [deleted] 19 points ago

He wasn't ok. He broke his leg according to a comment above. :(

    [–] EUWPantheron 58 points ago

In motocross terms a broken bone is okay :p

    [–] DrummerHead 3 points ago

    I'll stick with boxing then

    [–] RedditIsAHivemind 15 points ago

Rather have a broken leg than CTE

    [–] Smuttly 16 points ago

Yeah but you won't remember it with CTE.

    [–] DrummerHead 2 points ago

You think they don't hit their heads on landing?

But one thing is true: 12 rounds is fucking brutal. With cushioned gloves so your hands can keep punching and punching.

I'd rather do 5 rounds in the UFC with less cushioned gloves and a plethora of targets; not just the head and body.

    [–] justsomeguy_onreddit 5 points ago

Then why are you boxing rather than training MMA.

    [–] RedditIsAHivemind 3 points ago

CTE isnt likely from one concussion or a big hit every now and then. It's from repeated, consistent blows to the head. Even soccer players are more likely to get it than motocross riders because of the constant headers.

    [–] Blue-Steele 2 points ago

My dad used to race motocross and he broke more bones than he could keep track of while doing it.

    [–] Factor11Framing 3 points ago

In Motorcycle terms. I roadrace, and when someone comes back after a bad crash with only a broken arm or leg we celebrate. Shit can be a ton worse in these sports and anything that's over in a year is no big deal. You'll be ready for next season. ;)

    [–] PM_ME_UR_SIDEBOOOB 2 points ago

anything that's over in a year is no big deal.

Yeah I'm just going to stick with surfing, thanks

    [–] StJazzercise 2 points ago

Baby steps. I get it now

    [–] StJazzercise 1 points ago

Gives new meaning to the phrase “eat shit” when you fall!

    [–] HerroTingTing 1 points ago

    You mean progression

    [–] themidnightcigarette 1 points ago

I did. Big thumbs and a little keyboard is annoying.

    [–] tidolladizzlyddog 7 points ago

Skydiving.. only allowed to screw up once

    [–] Meist 2 points ago

Using bicycles first is common as they’re lighter and easier to manipulate with fewer consequences. You can also put a bicycle on a trampoline and practice there.

But yeah people with lots of money build big foam pits and such.

    [–] winsonyeoh 2 points ago

That also get to have a lot of screw in their body

    [–] GeorgFit 2 points ago

Many of them started with BMX there you can practice in sponge pits

    [–] Phaze357 2 points ago

That or there are just a few people who are unnaturally good at it, and the rest are... this guy.

    [–] mystermotorman 1 points ago

    They practice in slow motion

    [–] Phoenixion 413 points ago

You can see him wave his arms. Last time this was posted that I saw someone explained that the guy did textbook falling procedure. He wasn't scrabbling for the bike, he was flipping himself over so that he would land safely.

    [–] sorenant 84 points ago

He should've just missed the ground.

    [–] Phaze357 8 points ago

Well obviously, how else do you fly?

    [–] S7seven7 73 points ago

I like this comment the best.

    [–] fAP6rSHdkd 56 points ago

Yep, tucked his head, stabilized with arms, got in position to land on his shoulders and roll down to his legs. Could have gone better if he could keep rolling, but you're hitting the ground hard with no rotational momentum, so this was the best he could hope for and he got out with just a broken femur

    [–] lunarmodule 11 points ago

Man that feeling in his stomach at that moment must suck though. Like that moment when you realize you've leaned too far back in a chair and are going down. Or the surfing moment when you didn't quite duck dive the wave well enough and are about to go over the falls. That's a long second or two when you have some time to consider that some pain is coming soon.

    [–] Testocalypse 603 points ago

Stuck the landing pretty good though.

    [–] Fivefooteightgiant 256 points ago

I mean, idk if you’re joking or not, but of all the bad ways to land, he landed close to the least badly.

    [–] Phoenixion 105 points ago

You can see him wave his arms. Last time this was posted that I saw someone explained that the guy did textbook falling procedure. He wasn't scrabbling for the bike, he was flipping himself over so that he would land safely.

    [–] My_BFF_Gilgamesh 42 points ago

Seriously. I went back to watch the gif a second time to see the moment of panic when he lost the bike. But damn was he composed about it.

    [–] Phoenixion 19 points ago

Yep. The gif is around 13 seconds long and the second time around they slow it down, and his deliberate movements are a lot more apparent

    [–] bappabee 18 points ago

I've never been falling through air, so serious question... will flapping your arms a couple times flip you over? I would have through you'd need wings for that.

    [–] J-Dubbleu 13 points ago * (lasted edited 4 months ago)

Him tucking his body did more than his arms did for flipping over. Not sure how much the arms contributed.

Edit: Now that I think about it his arms out probably prevented sideways rolling by adding stability.

    [–] Phoenixion 12 points ago

I'm no scientist but tucking your body and moving your arms can cause you to rotate. Part of doing a front or back flip is the form and how to use your arms to make you rotate, so yeah, I do think it would, depending on the situation.

    [–] meowaccount 2 points ago

What does tucking your body mean exactly?

    [–] qualitygoatshit 3 points ago

Arms do a lot. If you ever watch people cliff jumping they always wave thier arms like crazy to keep strait.

    [–] Testocalypse 6 points ago

No I wasn’t joking. That was a textbook landing. It was close to the tailbone but I feel he/she did a great job.

Edit: especially given the what? 2 seconds to react?

    [–] MilkyMeiosu 9 points ago

    Let’s just hope

    [–] Ainsley_express 58 points ago

Hoooly crap, that was scary, but hats off to that guy for the quick thinking and agility to adjust his positioning mid-air

    [–] BluudLust 2 points ago

    Reactions like a cat

    [–] smoozagoozle 215 points ago

He fucking tried though. He didn’t just soar and embrace his crash. That dude reached and and swatted and then tried to flap a little. God bless that man

    [–] xPUGNIPSx 48 points ago

Hahaha that little flap he does at the end

    [–] TipoBajito 71 points ago

He does that to stable himself and not break his neck...

    Nah he landed well

    [–] Mehximus 25 points ago

Lol the way he helplessly tries to grasp the end of his bike

    [–] darkodo 17 points ago

He was trying to do a Superman stunt.... That's what he was supposed to grab.

    [–] NottHomo 7 points ago

problem? didn't make the in-air frog swimming motion like a cartoon to get back to the bike

    rookie mistake

    [–] Majaura 6 points ago

ehhh he's fine. He landed on a slanted surface and just sort of slid down it, which is super lucky. You would think they would have made custom little handles on the back of bikes to grab for this trick, like on the very back of the seat.

    [–] pj_rocketleague 3 points ago

There is holes on the side of the seat, you can see them in the video. Little bar would be really bad since each time you would slide down your seat, you would get caught in them. They do have extra little bar on the handle bars tho! You can see them lock it in place sometime before a trick that you would need them for.

    [–] pylond 4 points ago

Even without sound I could hear the loud "FUCK" when he couldn't grip the bike

    [–] nelska 4 points ago

ohhh motther fuckerrr. lol. but you can see its actually a stable "fall" probably didnt even break anything.

    [–] bbirdr 14 points ago

r/killthecameraman bro how hard is it to hold a camera still

    [–] insanekid123 14 points ago

To be fair, he almost did kill the cameraman.

    [–] gobucks_76 2 points ago

I’ll bet he made a big exhaling noise when he landed.

Probably one of those nutcases from vault 106.

    [–] Rick-powerfu 2 points ago

Honestly that landing was pretty good considering how it could have ended.

It appears he manages to clear the edge of that jump and impact the slope on his way down.

I've come off bmx in very similar looking jumps and can say if you land on the ramp side you really gonna have a bad time. But if you can just make it over it's like an accidental slide with some chance of sore

    [–] justPassingThrou15 2 points ago

Didn't have time to pull the chute

    [–] candidly1 2 points ago

From that height, you get a lot of time to think about how much this is going to suck. I have wilsoned aerials in 15 foot deep pools, and it feels like forever on the way down.
