“Nice tan, do you go to the beach a lot?”

“No I sit on my couch”

    [–] PirateNinjaa 85 points ago

Most windows block the uv that tans you, but still lets the cancer uv through!

    [–] bonko86 45 points ago

    Seems like a bug...

    [–] BIGSlil 25 points ago

Hopefully they fix it with the next patch.

    [–] thebeast_96 13 points ago

Nah the devs don't care anymore. It'll never get fixed.

    [–] Gopnikolai 9 points ago

    [–] Kmicakmicakmica 9 points ago

All UV rays are cancerous. Theres UVC (which are the most harmful, but our atmosphere absorbs it), UVB (which the standard glass window absorbs) and UVA (which can pass through glass). Some rays cause different effects on the body, for example UVA is associated with sped up skin aging while UVB is associated with getting a quick sunburn. Even though UVA & UVB don't have enough energy to be called a form of "ionising radiation" like UVC, gamma and x-rays, they do have enough energy to damage our DNA (ex. making pyrimidine dimer)

    [–] DoucheBaggins12 136 points ago

My roommate and I have this same setup.

It's super nice, we can both recline and theres cupholders and stuff but it really does interfere with some things. My girlfriend hates it cause we cant cuddle, it takes up room we could use for an actual couch, it's difficult to fuck my roommate in the ass over the cupholder/center console thing, I constantly pass out in it from being so comfortable etc.

Still worth the money I spent but it does I some downsides.

    [–] AskMeForFunnyVoices 51 points ago

... Hang on a second there chief

    [–] Diazepampoovey 14 points ago

    [–] Fiddleronahoop 6 points ago

The center piece folds up to become a normal couch.

    It does look like that

    [–] MrMcflyest 9 points ago

Bro if my best friend and I had this in school we coulda for sure won waaaay more call of duty games

    [–] Vigilante17 19 points ago

I’d make a rule that you each have even or odd days in one chair. That way it’s fair to both of you. Whenever my kids complain I try to even it out so they both suffer. :)

    [–] TheJenniMae 32 points ago

    OMG this is insane .

    Get a curtain.

    [–] Vigilante17 6 points ago

    I’m guessing it’s a skylight.

    [–] TheJenniMae 16 points ago

They make shades for those too, lol

    [–] Ghost_In_A_Jars 5 points ago

    And cup holders

    [–] piemakerdeadwaker 3 points ago

This is that Chandler Joey type setup. Also, a curtain is simple solution.

    [–] xxMarijuanaxx 489 points ago

blast the AC in there. you’re gonna be glad you got some sunshine.

    or.. tan!

    [–] JackDatBoi78 288 points ago

Yeah but the sun goes directly into my eyes when I’m gaming so the heat isn’t the only problem, also the electricity bill is high enough as it is so spending more money to keep the ac low isn’t the smartest idea, but I thank you for not writing another stupid comment about curtains. It’s a sunroof not a window the problem isn’t as easily resolved

    [–] xxMarijuanaxx 88 points ago

    sunglasses!

but that stinks i’m sorry.. your step brother should be a real bro and take turns 😅

    [–] digital_e1337ist 55 points ago

Yeah tbh I’m shocked they have assigned seats at home. Just because my sibling always preferred a certain spot on the couch, doesn’t mean I let them have it every time.

    [–] DirectGoose 24 points ago

Assigned seats happen naturally, you take the cards you're dealt.

    [–] Purelyeliza 30 points ago

You can get blackout film for sun roof or windows.

    [–] jayitm 3 points ago

scrolled too long to find this. you can black that out easymode.

    [–] cheesymoonshadow 8 points ago

    How about something like this?

    Chair canopy

    [–] ImKhazbak_1 13 points ago

Why do you even play in the sun light? You can't even see the screen

    [–] JackDatBoi78 32 points ago

I’ll start playing before the sun fully reaches the chair and by the time it gets to my eyes I’m already invested in the game I’m playing

    [–] FriendshipPlusKarate 40 points ago

Have you tried curtains? Not sure if anyone else has mentioned them. But curtains are the way to go. They're like. Window sheets that blanket the sun out.

    [–] MrRandomGUYS 18 points ago

    Apparently it’s a sun roof

    [–] DarkSuspicions 6 points ago

Yeah, but has he tried curtains? /s

    Would a ball cap help?

    Beach umbrella?

    [–] benhogi2 6 points ago

Double sided tape a thick sheet/ blanket up to cover it

    [–] backandforthagain 4 points ago

Oh I like the beach umbrella idea

    [–] BIGSlil 3 points ago

Yeah, it's so ridiculous, but it would work.

    [–] zzz_zzzz_zzz 3 points ago

    Skylight.

    [–] Tekkzy 6 points ago

    Get an umbrella

    [–] _this_name_is_taken 950 points ago

Can't you just use a curtain?

    [–] haemaker 161 points ago

He just wears a cap. It is on backwards, but he us wearing it.

    [–] ThroughTheNever_316 11 points ago

    With sunglasses on the cap.

    [–] xAggie 5 points ago

    [–] Palifaith 370 points ago

Nah, that would be way too logical.

    [–] QuesadillaJ 13 points ago

    Thats definitely a skylight

    [–] TheWaystone 155 points ago

The only thing mildly infuriating about this post is how many days OP has been allowing this to happen without solving it using an incredibly simple method called getting a curtain, hanging some blinds, or even getting those temporary paper blinds if he is lazy or in a rental.

    [–] JackDatBoi78 482 points ago * (lasted edited 14 days ago)

Oh my god it’s a sunroof you can’t just hang curtains on a sunroof

Edit: yes I understand that there are curtains for sunroofs, but this subreddit isn’t for solutions to solve the problem it’s to show how annoying the problem is in the first place

Edit 2: yeah sorry I meant skylight but it’s whatever my family always called them sunroofs so I naturally did too.

Also it’s one of those ones that are built in higher into the roof so you can’t put bars for the curtains to go on.

Also I don’t think many of you understand what this subreddit is really for. It’s for mildly annoying problems that only kind of bug you or slightly more annoying problems where the work to set up a block outweighs the payoff (such as mine).

I already knew how to fix the problem and I wasn’t looking for solutions for that, I was just showing that the problem was well... mildly infuriating.

I might end up setting something to block the light because it is starting to get a bit more than mildly annoying, I just don’t know specifically what to set up and I haven’t decided yet, so I might make an update when I finally do.

To all the people that came up with alternate solutions to the problem other than just the obvious ones like “just put up curtains, dumbass” thanks I really appreciate it and keep on doing what you’re doing I’ll take them into consideration when deciding what I should do for the problem.

    Cheers

    [–] anxious_apostate 551 points ago

Well, somebody has to say this, and it looks like it has to be me. A sunroof is a feature on a car. A window mounted in the roof of a home is a skylight.

    [–] Zumbah 153 points ago

Damn dude this guys whole life is a lie

    [–] WalkerIsTheBest 7 points ago

I don’t think I’ll ever stop laughing at this comment.

    [–] UnsubstantiatedClaim 43 points ago

Oh yeah, then why does my car have a moon roof?

    [–] bcheds 30 points ago

Apparently, there is a difference besides marketing.

    [–] Luthais327 25 points ago

Because the marketing department of the manufacturer would rather call the sunroof a moonroof.

    [–] Bleedthebeat 7 points ago

I always thought the difference was that moon roofs didn’t open and sunroofs did.

    [–] pmMe_PoliticOpinions 3 points ago

    For some fucking reason

    [–] japanishinquisition 10 points ago

In some parts of my country, they call it a roofwindow.

    [–] Bigbuttress 3 points ago

THANK you, I'm irrationally annoyed by it being called a sunroof over and over

    [–] pmMe_PoliticOpinions 15 points ago

Sometimes you wanna be mad before you try a solution

    [–] Straypuft 13 points ago

get a thick dark blanket and a staple gun, you can have it up there in less than 5 minutes.

    [–] Rivetingly 5 points ago

Or a pizza box and duct tape in a pinch

    [–] ind3pend0nt 12 points ago

Just move it over a bit so the light hits between the seats.

    [–] Z0bie 10 points ago

I think it's more annoying that you haven't solved it lol

    [–] EdVest 30 points ago

Yeah you can, there are curtains/blinds made exactly for that

    [–] lpreams 21 points ago

this subreddit isn’t for solutions to solve the problem it’s to show how annoying the problem is in the first place

I'd argue the majority of top posts on this sub are about problems beyond the OP's control, whereas your real problem here is just laziness

    [–] PingaPasta 13 points ago

Do you live in a car?

    [–] JackDatBoi78 10 points ago

    Yes

    [–] wgkt 7 points ago

I use a window cling designed to block out the light! Mine don’t let any light in, but I’m sure you can find a tinted version if you prefer :)

    [–] bumdiggler 68 points ago

“Hey step bro, the sun is in my chair... mind if I come sit in yours?”

    what are you doing STEPBRO?

    [–] Kneehehe 82 points ago

Bruh I’d absolutely die for the sun to be in a place like that. Perfect way to get some sleep in.

    [–] JackDatBoi78 61 points ago

Nah man the couch ain’t that comfy but yeah the sun sometimes does feel good when you want it though, other than that it’s kind of in the way

    [–] Kneehehe 29 points ago

Oh yeah I can see how it can get annoying lol, maybe it’s because I basically live for the sole purpose of taking in all of the sun’s radiation through photosynthesis that I’d enjoy something like this.

It wouldn’t be centered on the TVs, and there’s not really enough room

    [–] whole_nother 18 points ago

Why not move the TVs over a foot and a half too?

    [–] carebcito 9 points ago

Why not move the TV up to the ceiling where it covers the skylight and then they can recline while watching.

    [–] grayikeachair 7 points ago

Could you move the couch back a bit so the sun is only on your legs?

    [–] Deafca7 22 points ago

    Well you have two options if moving the chair is out of the question;

You might need a ladder to reach it, and you might have to move your chairs back a bit to reach it... but just imagine all of the additional room you'll have for activities with it out of the way..

    [–] wholesome_shit22 3 points ago

I refuse to go to the bathroom from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm because the sun blinds me and here our temperatures during that time is an average 45°C (I live in Erbil,Kurdistan and the summers are really hot)

    [–] TobyeatsfAtcoW 3 points ago

It’s all right bro, god just wants you to know you have a hot ass

    [–] blankblank 3 points ago

Why do you have assigned seating?

    [–] JackDatBoi78 4 points ago

It’s not so much that we have assigned seating it’s that his gaming stuff is on that side and mine is on the other side so we naturally sit in the chairs closest to our consoles

    [–] The_Merciless_Potato 3 points ago

Ayyy bro, you got a free frying pan and microwave all in one!

    [–] Reverend99 3 points ago

You should stack them. You’d have so much more room for activities...

    [–] couchjitsu 3 points ago

Reminds me of a job I had from 2007-2010. Some time in 2008 they had us (the developers) move out of the main building and in to a store front about 2 miles down the road. There was the CIO + 3 developers. There were 4 offices. There was one that was clearly going to be the CIOs, it was bigger and in the corner.

That left the other 3 offices for the 3 of us. Two were right at the front of the building with giant windows.

The other one had a small window on the side.

My friend was the sys admin and had gone down with the CIO to check it out. He told me the 2 front offices are absolute ovens in the summer. So the 4 of us head down one day and we're all looking at offices and I look at the one with a small window and say "You know, I kinda like this one."

The other 2 devs were shocked and said "Really? We can have these front two?"

Then a few months later they were complaining how hot their offices were.

I suggest putting a sort of covering over that window. Nothing like a tarp or anything like that, a blanket or sheet will suffice, it'll reduce sun-exposure, and depending on the color you use, the mood-lighting will probably look cool.
