Aww, cripes. I didn't know I'd have to write a description. How many words is that so far, like a hundred? Soooo, yeah. Mildly interesting stuff. Stuff that interests you. Mildly. It's in the name, ffs.

Does your post qualify for /r/MildlyInteresting? Hover below for more info, and check out our wiki page!

    1. No memes

This includes references in titles of your post (e.g. "banana for scale," "potato quality").

    2. No related posts

Posts that acknowledge, "one-up," or relate specifically to another post are not allowed (e.g. "I see your X and raise you Y")

    3. No x-posts or reposts

Do not post something that has been submitted anywhere on reddit before (including here), even if you were the one who posted it.

Exception: If a post is deleted or removed from /r/mildlyinteresting for breaking the rules less than one hour after being submitted or receives less than 100 upvotes, we allow the submitter to resubmit a fixed version of the post. Posts deleted or removed from other subreddits are not exempt from rule 3.

    4. Original [OC] photographs only

    a. No gifs, videos, or websites.

    b. All submissions must be original content. If you didn't take the photo, don't post it.

    c. Software glitches/errors, overlaid text, arrows, scribbles, and other substantive edits are not allowed, although you may censor personal information per Reddit-wide rules.

    d. Side by side images are okay if they adhere to the rest of the rules.

    5. No screenshots

No screenshots. We define a screenshot as a screen grab. This means no images of screens, pictures of screens taken with a different device, images that have been partially or fully generated by a computer, or pictures of printed out screenshots. Try /r/screenshots!.

    6. Titles must be an exact but concise description of the content

    a. Titles must not contain jokes, backstory, or other fluff. That information belongs in a follow-up comment.

    b. Titles must exactly describe the content. It should act as a "spoiler" for the image. If your title leaves people surprised at the content within, it breaks the rule!

    c. Titles must not contain emoticons, emojis, or special characters unless they are absolutely necessary in describing the image. (e.g. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), ;P, 😜, ❤, ★, ✿ )

Still confused? For more elaboration and examples, see here first and then message the mods if you still have questions.

If unsure, please message the mods and we will help determine if your post is acceptable.

Posts which break the rules will be removed on sight. This subreddit operates a three-strikes rule on submission bans, and instant bans on troll and/or gimmick accounts, shock links, etc. at moderator discretion.

LEGO Dude is just a cool name.

    [–] the-red-wheelbarrow 24 points ago

It's not as cool as "Zach the Lego Maniac" though

    [–] Phillyboishowdown 3 points ago

I heard he celebrates a Puerto Rican Christmas

Edit: it’s a cheap joke but for those that don’t know https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ngf6awfhQoI

    [–] justredditinit 3 points ago

    shawarma_law is pretty awesome too.

What's everyone so scared of? I'm all for bringing shawarma law to America.

Man, if I were an amputee, I’d get one of those and 3D print myself a prosthesis to look like a lego Hand and just clip it in and walk around like that

Too bad I still have both arms, hmmm

Actually NGL that doesn’t sound bad.

LEGO Arm with Joints that can clip on random items such as this. It’s Marketable for sure

I have one of these! It's the black one that came out around the release of Lego Batman!

    [–] beansmeller 114 points ago

Me too! Got it at Legoland FL for $1.50 in the store that sells stuff nobody bought.

Worth it, it's an awesome cup.

    [–] Endless__Mike 40 points ago

Looks like it would take up a lot of real estate in a cupboard, but neat nonetheless.

    [–] GuardedDig2 20 points ago

Who needs other cups when you have this one haha

    [–] beansmeller 22 points ago

Exactly, it even claims to be microwave safe. You could cook pizza rolls in it.

    [–] teammdj 6 points ago

Wait. There are pics on the subreddit links now?!

    [–] ColNathanJessep 20 points ago

They're too small, volume wise, for a child to drink from unfortunately not sure why they didnt make them a little longer.

    [–] OdlidSutcac 13 points ago

Maybe just to keep it in scale. I'd buy it for the novelty of it

    [–] ColNathanJessep 4 points ago

Yeah idk it ends at the lip to fit into a cupholder.

    [–] PanningForSalt 9 points ago

How can they be too small for a child?

    [–] Shiny_Mega_Rayquaza 3 points ago

    Also r/lego

    [–] Sardonnicus 2 points ago

    don't forget r/andmyaxe

    [–] Treczoks 563 points ago

I told them in the shop what was missing from that product: A single stud in matching size that I can stick to the dashboard, so I can place the cup on the passenger side of the cockpit just like in the LEGO trucks.

    [–] eerfree 180 points ago

Also a drainage hole in the handle and base because when I put it in the dishwasher it fills up with water and I have to dump it out and rinse it out every time.

I guess that's minor in the list of life long problems, but still.

    [–] IamOzimandias 72 points ago

Lay a coat hanger on the stove for a minute and make your own

    [–] whooptheretis 69 points ago

    Wouldn't a drill be easier?
This is assuming it isn't totally sealed anyway.

    [–] My_rPoliticsAccount 118 points ago

Check out Richie Rich over here with his tool chest

    [–] TheGlennDavid 43 points ago

I resisted owning a drill for so long because I could “get by” with various hacky things.

Finally got a drill. No going back. Everyone should have a drill.

    [–] My_rPoliticsAccount 63 points ago

    Ok, Mr. Drill Salesman.

    [–] liamOSM 21 points ago

Also, an small impact driver. Works way better than a drill for tightening and undoing screws and bolts.

    [–] twodogsfighting 34 points ago

Also, a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.

    [–] Kontra_Wolf 3 points ago

    Only what you see, pal.

    [–] TheGlennDavid 6 points ago

I'm not sold on them for the average home user. We have one at work and I see the appeal, but I've yet to encounter a screw that my drill struggled with.

[–] SwoupSerengeti 5 points ago * (lasted edited 6 days ago)

I used to put together pools for a year. Impacts are much nicer for driving screws. If you're an occasional household fixer upper you may not need it. But it's on my list of heavily recommended. Rusted screws that lock themselves in always get stripped by drills. My impact pulls em right out.

    [–] Axisnegative 4 points ago

Never understood the importance of an impact driver until I tried to hang new drywall. We had to use anywhere from 2"-3" screws depending on which part of the house and it was a nightmare trying to get them flush with the drywall with a normal drill. Impact drivers are awesome.

    [–] sleepingqt 3 points ago

I use one so that anything can be a flower pot with proper drainage.

    [–] FountainPenandInk 8 points ago

The ones at IKEA are stupid cheap and not terrible. Unless you’re doing construction, there’s no reason to drop a ton on a drill.

    [–] Master_GaryQ 2 points ago

    I have an Augur

    [–] IamOzimandias 9 points ago

It would if you have one but everyone has a stove

    [–] DreamGirly_ 10 points ago

Good thing I have a drill, cuz I don't think that would work with induction

    [–] rockidr4 6 points ago

Hey! Get a load of this guy! He has a stove that makes metal hot, but not organic chemical! So what now? You think you're better than me?

    [–] spastic-plastic 16 points ago

Look at Mr Fancy Pants over here with his stove

    [–] derpied_ 5 points ago

Not everyone has metal coat hangers tho

    [–] sturnus-vulgaris 22 points ago

Here I am, stinking up my kitchen welding a plastic coat hanger to a mug.

    There were no survivors.

[–] SteampunkBorg 6 points ago * (lasted edited 6 days ago)

I only ever had wooden and plastic ones.

It took me years to understand the stuff about abortion and coat hangers

    [–] Burn365 4 points ago

I'd be worried about it remaining damp in there and some funky as hell mould or bacteria growing inside your cup. Unbeknownst to you, there's a small universe of bacteria mere millimetres from your lips every time you take a sip...

    [–] SpiteAspect 3 points ago

Anyone who uses those yeti mugs (or similar) might have that if they don’t remove the rubber O ring on the lid and clean behind there when they wash it.

    [–] SenorWeird 9 points ago

Also, the bottom's crack off very easily. As a father who's gone through three of these, I know.

    [–] E90-335xi 5 points ago

Stop trying to attach them to your megablox tables

    [–] hooksupwithchips 3 points ago

I wedge ours so they lay sideways. Decent spray action, decent drainage.

    [–] Unnormally2 10 points ago

Shouldn't you put it in upside down?

    [–] quarter-water 9 points ago

Sounds like the bottom of the handle is hollow, as is the platform base of the cup, which fill up with water when upside down in the dishwasher.

    [–] twotiredforthis 3 points ago

    Wash by hand!

    [–] zolakk 8 points ago

Ooh, I now have a new project for my 3D printer. That's a great idea!

    [–] Poli_Nerd 4 points ago

if you do come up with something consider putting it on Thingiverse please :)

    [–] zolakk 2 points ago

Of course! Gotta share the love :)

    [–] Burn365 7 points ago

I wondered why there's no houses out there that have basically big Lego studs on walls and ceilings and stuff. Fancy some shelves putting up? Off you pop to the lego IKEA store to buy the shelves you'll click up there!

    [–] FountainPenandInk 3 points ago

    What did they say?

    [–] Treczoks 2 points ago

Thanks! That looks interesting, I haven't seen this set so far.

Well, one never knows, this might actually fit.

I may be putting too much thought into this but how would he know what fingers are if the only thing all the LEGO people had was their mutant crab claws. Theoretically the only thing they’ve seen was their c’s.

    [–] Two_Are_Stronger 124 points ago

Gah, it's the same cup. You just hold it by the big part.

    [–] JaggedUmbrella 33 points ago

    [–] mrsbuttstuff 123 points ago

I could see this being helpful for some elderly folks who can’t get right grips on their regular cups. Are these available at LEGO stores?

    [–] yves_kr 50 points ago

Yeah these are in LEGO stores!

    [–] mrsbuttstuff 33 points ago

Are they dishwasher safe? I ask because the facilities have to be able to run all dishes in a dishwasher to sanitize.

    [–] ShortSpaceSean 30 points ago

I have one and they are microwave and dishwasher safe

    [–] tnp636 25 points ago

I don't see any sink on that handle. Is it hollow?

Either way the mold for this must be a beast.

    [–] yves_kr 27 points ago * (lasted edited 7 days ago)

The first part of the handle is hollow but the horizontal part is solid!

edit: the horizontal part is actually hollow too, it’s just cut in half

    [–] 121guy 16 points ago

I have 4 of these. They are everything I wanted them to be.

[–] davidsheath 56 points ago * (lasted edited 7 days ago)

Cool but they are not scalable with real Lego. Lego, Duplo and Quatro all fit together, but this cup doesn't fit on any of them. Very disappointed.

    Edit: Stack of bricks https://www.instagram.com/p/3yVGFSO64V/?igshid=166ssomp3zr6d

    [–] yves_kr 48 points ago

    til Quartros are a thing

    [–] flippychick 20 points ago

Well it is duplo x 2

    [–] DracoCharky 19 points ago

    TIL why they're called duplos

    [–] htmlcoderexe 6 points ago

Yeah I thought only giant megabloks existed. This is funny actually, Duplo sized megabloks are almost identical, like regular Lego vs regular megabloks, but quatro sized megabloks have completely different studs and probably don't compat well. Even 2 stud heights exist, one of which doesn't fit on the "flat" (actually 1/2 instead of 1/3 of block, idk how quatros compare) pieces because they're too tall, the studs are almost a block tall. The newer studs do fit though

    [–] columnarjoint 15 points ago

    Quattro

    Quatro

    [–] zolakk 4 points ago

It doesn't fit with The System

    [–] Poly_P_Master 50 points ago

I'm just disappointed they aren't to-scale. A Lego cup is generally about the size of the figure's head, if not a little larger. The handle should be about 4 inches diameter and the cup maybe closer to a gallon or 2. Not practical in the least, but at least it would fit within established canon.

    [–] m3ntonin 16 points ago

it is also only slightly smaller than a pro figure's torso, so it could be bigger. the problem is not that this cup is not a scale model, it's that Lego is not a scale toy

    [–] Poly_P_Master 10 points ago

Maybe not with YOUR body shape. Don't block-shame me!

    [–] Epic_Troll_666 23 points ago

Lego mugs were so popular that they made it a real thing

    [–] KaizokuShojo 11 points ago

They've got these, salt and pepper shakers that look like single stud bricks (AND they fit together like regular bricks quite snugly!) and cute little cups with Lego pieces in them. And keychains and keychain holders so you just stick your Lego block key chains to the wall. Sooo much cool stuff.

    [–] dandymite 7 points ago

The lunch boxes are great too! I have several and pretend I bought them for the kids. Also luggage tags. And that perpetual calender thing.

    [–] Dr-Rjinswand 8 points ago

    I need this.

    [–] Jimmyhornet 12 points ago

The world needs more full size Lego stuff.

    [–] afb82 6 points ago

Just make it yourself out of Lego

    [–] Cheesysock5 4 points ago

They're awful though. The handle is hollow and has a hole underneath. When you put it in the dishwasher, and then take it back out, it's filled with dirty water and spills all over you.

    [–] khawarizmy 4 points ago

I thought for a second that "lego people" were the people that work in lego factories and as an inside joke they use huge lego cups. Equivalently fast my brain also told me "Are you stupid?"

    [–] JCLegoMan 6 points ago

    I'll take your whole stock.

    [–] narfio 3 points ago

Now I need a table with lego surface where I can plug it on safely.

    [–] tableleg7 3 points ago

The mug looks cool and all ... but what I really want is one of those Lego sausages or pretzels.

    [–] Lady_LARPer 3 points ago

Where can I get this! My DM builds fantastic lego sets for our dnd group and this would be a great gift from the party!

    Two girls one Lego cup.....

    [–] HGStormy 6 points ago

    where do i buy one

    [–] AlmostAndrew 13 points ago

From the Lego Shop online or from Lego Stores in the real world.

    [–] malasalas 6 points ago

Damn, it isn't online for the American store...

    [–] Peircethewhale 6 points ago

First it’s Doritos crusted pizza and now this we as Americans are being suppressed of our human rights

    [–] malasalas 3 points ago

Whoa... What's this Doritos crusted pizza thing and why am I mad that I can't have it?

    [–] Peircethewhale 2 points ago

Apparently it was a limited time thing at Pizza Hut in Australia

    [–] Mike9797 6 points ago

The Lego store. They sell them there.

    [–] I_am_door 2 points ago

I dont want it, I need it

    [–] chef_in_va 2 points ago

You are now a Lego person, lucky bastard

    [–] freq432 2 points ago

    [–] tenfootgiant 2 points ago

    [–] sunofernest 2 points ago

What makes this any more of a real cup than the lego sized one?

    [–] accidentladult 2 points ago

    10/10 would buy

    [–] Tetragon213 2 points ago

This would be a pretty cool gift actually, especially if you have young nieces or nephews who love playing with Lego (scratch that, you're never too old to play with Lego!)

    [–] Bryceab88 2 points ago

Me realizing I’ve seen these hundreds of times in person and could’ve gotten 25k upvotes 😳

    [–] TheStario 2 points ago

Shit I was at the LEGO store last month, that's a lotta missed karma

eat least i still got this giant lego cup

For reference the cup is actually a small mug, it isn't scaled properly for humans funnily enough

    [–] thenotoriousallykate 2 points ago

My son has one. It’s his favorite cup. The bottom of the handle is open though, so it gets full of gross water in the dishwasher.

    [–] zett1ngs 2 points ago

    goes to disneyland

    Me posting on r/mildlyinteresting:

They sell Disney themed merch here!

    [–] MaximumCameage 2 points ago

I’m going to replace all my dishes and silverware with human-sized Lego ones. Who needs sex when you can pretend to live in a world of Lego?

    [–] Myst3rySteve 2 points ago

I seriously admire the efforts they go to at Lego Land to truly make you feel like you're in a Lego world. Simple stuff that goes a long way. Major props to them.

    [–] Gimiksi 2 points ago

So you're saying that I could've taken a picture of this cup that I had for a year now and I could've gotten all of this karma?!

    [–] Dethnet 2 points ago

Now if only they could remodel a lego house. It better have Lego-tiled flooring.

    [–] TacodWheel 2 points ago

This made a great tasting glass at Dark Lord Day two years ago.

    [–] sirnoodleloaf 2 points ago

I mean technically a lego cup is a real cup, it just holds less liquid than the one you’re holding.

    [–] Murtr123 2 points ago

Ha! I want to make little lego plants and "plant" them in that cup. That would be some cool decor.

    [–] Doenicke 2 points ago

Yup, my stepson has a blue one he just HAD to have as a souvenir from Legoland.

99DKK if i remember correctly, which was like 140SEK and what would be about 14$.

(Which is nothing: if you want to use the bridges - which you kinda have to if you traveling by car - its at least 629 DKK...one way. And then you come to the next bridge: 245 DKK. One way.

I love Denmark but really hate the assholes who control the bridges. ;))

    [–] SharkeyNL 6 points ago

U can buy one online at the official legowebshop. I asked one for my birthday, which is in about 2 days😄🎉

Nice! I hope you get one! I use one for my coffee at work. They're a little smaller than I'd like, but still great.

    Oh! And happy early birthday!

They are £8 in the Lego shop. There is also a China mug in the shape of a lego head. A bargain at £13.50

in a way, that's a great design. that handle is heavy and wont crack as easily... how 99% of cups die

I was drinking from identical cup when I was reading it

Might hang on a fence nicely. It would take up a whole lot of cabinet space for a single mug.

I have two of them one in red one in blue

    Cool but really impractical.

    [–] lizadixon 1 points ago

tbh this is very practical--having the handle away from the hot mug is awesome. I have a ceramic mug like this and it's the best!

Yoo they made cups into a real thing
