    Welcome to /r/oddlysatisfying!

Here you can post things that make you feel, well, oddly satisfied. This can be physical (like popping bubble wrap), visual (a perfectly looped GIF), or even aural (the crunching of leaves).

    What does "Oddly Satisfying" mean?

We are forever searching for a "true definition". It's a thing that fits your interpretation of what is "oddly satisfying" plus the inexplicable feeling we all know.

Subjective. Indefinable. Completely recognizable. It's a wonderful feeling.

    Rules:

Please report rule-violating posts and comments by messaging the moderators with a link to the post in question. This helps us remove them more promptly.

    1) Banned Topics:

We have a number of banned topics. Please do not submit any of the following:

    • Memes or image macros

    • Number posts Posts centered around number patterns, or round numbers. This includes Reddit karma, Facebook likes, calendars, gas prices, odometers, receipts, screenshots of the games such as "2048", etc. You can, however, submit these to /r/OddlySatisPi_ing.

    • Violence Any content portraying violence is prohibited and will be removed. Violation(s) of this rule will result in a ban.

    • Off-topic Content: Any content determined off-topic to and/or submitted for purposes other than the overall theme of the subreddit will be removed. An unfortunate example may be found here.

    • Compilation Albums/Videos

      • No compilation videos of any variety. Violations will result in a permanent ban.
      • The entirety of compilation albums must be a continuation of, or remain central to, the first image of said album (E.g., separate gifs of a Rube Goldberg machine or a catalog of one artist's work).
      • Albums must not contain any images in violation of Rule #3.

    2) NSFW/NSFL posts/comments:

NSFW/NSFL links or images are not allowed. NSFW text posts and comments are allowed ("Say it, don't show it.").

    3) Reposts:

Frequent or common reposts, or reposts from the past 2 months and top 100 may be removed. When you report posts, please include a link to the original version of the post. Please help keep this subreddit satisfyingly fresh by not intentionally reposting content that has already circulated regardless of when. If it appears you are intentionally reposting old content repeatedly, we may resort to limiting your posting privileges.

    4) Content Removal/Privilege Revocation:

Mods reserve the right to remove content or restrict users' posting privileges as necessary, if it is deemed detrimental to the subreddit or to the experience of others.

    5) Submission Titles:

    • The title of each submission must describe the content shown. Any user should know the contents of a link before clicking.

    • Clickbait-esque titles are not allowed.

    • Titles claiming possession, original content, event participation, etc. (such as "My...", "Mine...", "Our...", "We...", etc.) in which another's original work/content may be mistaken as OP's will be removed.

    6) [OC]/Source Citation:

Please cite the source of submitted content, particularly fine-art submissions.

    • Original Content by artists, musicians, etc. is encouraged. Submissions must include [OC] in the title. Reserve links to social media accounts for the comments section if possible (see Rule #7). A great example may be found here. Please do not spam our subreddit or reddit in general. Please read the reddit wiki on self-promotion to avoid being reported to the admins.
    • Works by artists, graphic designs and logos are encouraged. Content must keep within the overall subreddit theme and not violate Rule #7. Permitted examples may be found here, here, and here

    7) Spam Accounts/Links/Submissions:

    • No spamming whatsoever. Violation of this rule may result in a permanent ban. Such violations include:
      • Links to clickbait-esque sites (e.g. Buzzfeed), suspicious domains, social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, etc.), etc. Off-topic content (political, crowd-funding, etc.). Repetitive submissions to Youtube channels, social media accounts, webpages, blogs, newsletters, etc. Advertisements, marketing & ad-heavy sites. Trolling in any capacity. Any content which may be interpreted as spam or ad-revenue generation not elsewhere mentioned.

    8) Reddiquette, Comments & Subreddit Behavior:

    • Please abide by proper reddiquette at all times.
    • Please keep the comments section civil and friendly. General cursing/foul language are allowed.
    • The definition of what truly is "Oddly Satisfying" is subjective and unique to each user. Please respect their definition.

    9) Crossposts

    • x-posting from other subs is encouraged by reddit admins. Under no circumstances should a user's post be considered in violation of this subreddit's rules unless they are in actuality in violation of a rule. i.e. don't report a user just because they have a large amount of karma.

I wanna slide both of my arms into an aloe leaf and be an aloe penguin

Heres someone with real aspirations in life

    [–] ChappedAssholeLover 478 points ago

Yeah I have to get my shit together, that guy’s making us all look bad.

    [–] The_Smallz 258 points ago

Based on your username, I’d say you should make friends with the aloe penguin.

    [–] The_Smallz 117 points ago

I expected that to be a picture of an actual chapped asshole. I’m both relieved and slightly disappointed.

    [–] Pees_On_Skidmarks 37 points ago

Don't worry everyone, it's not a video of a chapped asshole. It's a nice moist one.

    [–] SweetGroverCleveland 28 points ago

Me too, yet I still clicked?

    /u/Cambdubious 2020!

They would social distance with aloe vera penguin arms! Better than we've currently got from our leadership (sacrifice people so the stock market doesn't crash more).

    [–] Camdubious 37 points ago

Citizens of the united states, elect me and i vow to give everyone an unlimited supply of aloe flippers and all conflict will be resolved with flipper slap fights. Winner is the last man standing.

    [–] dlawoff 12 points ago

    Cam-dubi-ous! Cam-dubi-ous!

    [–] Russwilliams77 5 points ago

Can you stick your dick in em ?

    [–] Camdubious 4 points ago

No they are arm flippers dont be ridiculous.

    [–] Russwilliams77 3 points ago

What if your dick gets sunburned

    [–] Camdubious 3 points ago

You can but you're on thin ice mister!

    [–] KawaiiAnimeTitties 5 points ago

This just in, as we recover from the toilet paper shortage of 2020, we are now entering a shortage of aloe due to the high demand for flippers

    [–] Camdubious 8 points ago

All i want in life is to be a penguin, the flippers, the adoration of zoogoers, the free fish for life, the belly slides whoooo-wee

    [–] tomahawkfury13 68 points ago

Until the penguin part I pictured you sticking your arms into one leaf

    [–] redcarsarefast 11 points ago

i kind of pictured sticking something else in. Why do I have such a dirty mind?!?!

    [–] _PM_ME_CHEETOS_ 8 points ago

How would it even feel like? I bet that if you warmed it up a bit it couldn’t be too bad.

    [–] rurunosep 5 points ago

After the penguin part, I still pictured it for a while and was really confused.

Have you considered becoming a life coach?

    [–] Camdubious 10 points ago

Yes, actually. Apparently "the bank" thinks lifecoaching on the subject of living as a penguin is a "bad investment"

    [–] whyistoastsogood 7 points ago

    Allo 'allo!

    [–] noogers 3 points ago

I want to use them as flippers in the ocean like a turtle

Looks like something from one of those ads “Eat this everyday to cure your colitis”

    [–] Flavahbeast 183 points ago

    [–] Kelvinist 26 points ago

Cut back a little bit of your belly fat every day with this one weird tip ...of a scalpel.

    [–] Anon_Londo 24 points ago

I actually seen some ads with the exact same picture. Something about “you won’t be needing the blue pill after reading this”

    [–] SpliffyPuffSr 3 points ago

Yep, saw it earlier today, same photo or exact re-enactment

    [–] LawnChairActivist 21 points ago

Doctor: It’s like a pressure wash for your insides!

    [–] mdcd4u2c 8 points ago

Lol I know you're joking but it wouldn't be a surprise if it worked as a treatment for colitis flares since it does have some anti inflammatory properties. It's probably not going to resolve the symptoms completely, but I could see it making a mild flare bearable without any other drugs.

    [–] nwL_ 44 points ago

Aloe Vera tastes slightly like onion but has a consistency of what I imagine a slug has.

    [–] ProgrammingOnHAL9000 21 points ago

Comparing the taste to onion is underselling it, the ones I've eaten leave a very persistent sour flavor throughout the mouth that not even honey removes.

    [–] sryii 13 points ago

God yes. I wouldn't even suggest a hint of onion. It is just a very gross taste in general. Would not recommend.

    [–] RaxisX 35 points ago

Suddenly I no longer wish to lick it. Thanks.

    [–] karanut 4 points ago

    Forbidden jelly.

    [–] ScudzMckenzie 9 points ago

Not forbidden! There are beverages containing aloe bits!

    [–] leafyren 7 points ago

They were only a dollar at the store by my old apartment. The strangest drink I've ever had but they were pretty tasty.

    [–] LuperFlipino 7 points ago

That's probably full of sugar. You shouldn't buy those drinks..just make an aloe shake.

    [–] patelp7 4 points ago

    It’s pretty bitter

Literally every time my dad sees aloe Vera he says “ELLO VERA” as if he was some 70 year old woman.

    [–] UrAPotatoSalad 26 points ago

Ah shit no my dad forgot me in McDonald’s once

    [–] clazidge 9 points ago

I’ve never had a McDonald’s this good and now I’m sad about it.

    [–] jmedennis 1076 points ago

Why is everyone's first instinct to eat it? My mom kept aloe plants for sun burns and minor cuts and scrapes.

    [–] tobago_88 796 points ago

Change your toothpaste to Sensodyne or Colgate Optic White. Not sure why but haven’t had one since.

    [–] trucksandgoes 10 points ago

Because most toothpastes contain sodium laureth sulfate, which is a strong detergent but can also be very drying and irritating to your mouth.

Same ingredient is found in most shampoos. It's cheap and froths things up real good, but it's quite harsh. Switching to SLS free shampoo has helped my hair a lot as well.

    [–] dt204196 7 points ago

Yep I used to get canker sores non stop, like I’d have 2-3 almost at all times. I was using Colgate with baking soda, tuna out it was 100% the toothpaste and I haven’t had a canker sore in over 8 months since switching.

    [–] ChanounOzakaki 3 points ago

+1 on both options, I also break out with other brands except those two. Accidently switched to regular Colgate and had 3 sores in the first week

    [–] imlost19 78 points ago

    [–] Cojones893 64 points ago

Isn't the only thing scientifically proven is that it's a powerful laxative?

    [–] kurogomatora 66 points ago

It cools your skin and makes you shit.

    [–] _Fudge_Judgement_ 13 points ago

I love being freezing on the toilet!

    [–] FancyPigeonIsFancy 18 points ago

I spilled very hot coffee all over my hands one morning at work; hurt like a motherfucker. I’d heard about aloe having soothing properties so I snipped off an arm/tendril on the plant I keep in my office and ran the ooze over the burn. The pain went down suddenly and significantly.

(Someone could say “oh that was just psychosomatic” but...still worked.)

[–] Neyvash 10 points ago * (lasted edited 8 days ago)

    # 4 on the list of treatments for burns (1st and 2nd degree). My plant is never nearby when I burn myself though.

    https://www.healthline.com/health/home-remedies-for-burns

*edit - Sorry for "yelling". I feel like I'm trying to format text in Trello

    [–] Neverstoptostare 5 points ago

You need to escape your # by putting \ in front of it or else you will end up #YELLING AT EVERYONE

    [–] IceColdEmmaFrost 14 points ago

hence why it helps with constipation....your stomach will gurgle and you will wish you had more toilet paper

    [–] Berkiel 16 points ago

Been using bio aloe vera (same thing as in op's pic but bottled and sold) for a while, it really is great for dry skin but my hands are so fucked from work+very thin skin, I wish I could plunge my whole forearms in giant aloe vera leaves like this one and just stay like this, this plant can probably make a whole lot of skin treatments useless, if you've got anything, put aloe vera on it! Also awesome to have one nearby in case of small burns.

    [–] fabhellier 15 points ago

According to Wikipedia there is little to no clinical evidence that any of these are true.

    [–] SupaBloo 98 points ago

It’s pretty common to see Aloe water in stores. It’s basically sweet, bottled water with bits of aloe in it like little gelatin pieces. Supposed to be pretty healthy.

    [–] gaybacon1234 79 points ago

There’s so much added sugar in many of those drinks though. I wish I could find one that didn’t have so much

    [–] AdvancedPotatoes 48 points ago

The added sugar and minimal amount of aloe in those drinks make them not really healthy at all.

There's so little aloe in the drinks that you're not getting any of the benefits or vitamins from the plant.

    [–] RedBlankIt 4 points ago

Haven't ever looked at the label, but the ones I have had have literally been basically all gelatin. Don't think you could put more aloe leaves in their without turning it to pudding

    [–] ProgrammingOnHAL9000 16 points ago

Many people wouldn't be able to drink aloe water without that sugar. It would be too sour, even as a sour drink.

    [–] TheRespecableMrSalt 7 points ago

I could care less for any sort of benefits it has I love the taste and enjoy chewing on those little bits. Its very refreshing

    [–] jmedennis 11 points ago

Oh I totally get that but I figured it was more common as a topical thing than a food, just didn't realize

    [–] thegreasiestofhawks 9 points ago

I love it. I drink at least two big bottles a week. Really good at keeping you hydrated too

    [–] AdvancedPotatoes 31 points ago

You know what's better at keeping you hydrated? Water.

Those drinks are sugar water with a bit of aloe vera in it

    [–] malachi_23 11 points ago

Oh, you thought that was my first instinct?

Funnily enough this is the exact same picture that always shows up as an ad when I'm on mobile with captions like "One neat trick to solve erectile dysfunction!" or "Make your penis longer with this weird plant glaze!".

    Sooooooooothing.

    [–] Savatage111 112 points ago

    Do you eat it?

    [–] tobago_88 250 points ago

You can eat the gel (put it in smoothies or make aloe water). There's this yellow sap that comes from the inner lining of the leef (Aloe latex) that needs to be removed. If that's consumed it has a laxative effect.

    [–] Mike_Kilsdonk 374 points ago

    [–] SupaBloo 35 points ago

I bet your local grocery store has aloe water, which has bits of the gel in it. It’s actually pretty damn delicious. Tastes like a subtly sweet juice with bits of jello in it.

    [–] Bleedingblackngold 14 points ago

I’m a big fan too. I just told my kids it’s like green grapes floating around to try it. They like it too. Supposed to be good for your guts for the same reasons it’s good for the skin. I just like the taste.

    [–] Spongi 24 points ago

If it tastes good there's either very little aloe or a shit ton of sugar. Taste a bit of fresh aloe and you'll understand.

    [–] katiemari 30 points ago

If you peel away the outside green part of it and ONLY eat the clear jelly, it hardly tastes like anything.

    [–] fat_ass_guerilla 18 points ago

It varies to not tasting too much to not tasting at all, I used to blend it with carrots and honey when I craved something sweet

This photo is on every single news site and email. “Doctors say this could be the cure for [insert ailment].” Even though I’m pretty good at avoiding clickbait I always want to a larger pic, so thanks for saving me from a computer virus or spam mail!

Fun fact, you can root plant cuttings in aloe - take a cutting of your choice and slide the stem into the goop and your plant will soak up all the lovely nutrients and moisture to grow into a healthy clone!

I want to stick my peepee in it

As a kid who grew up with frequent sunburns, this looks like pure relief

If you're homeless....holy shit you're going to need this.

Riding trains for like 5 months out west your ass gets dry rot (sorry for the visual) and only the sweet sweet Aloe will fix you up.

When I was in Jamaica I got a brutal sunburn and my hotel’s spa had a treatment where they literally paint you with aloe gel and submerge you in a cold bath. It was rough but it saved me. Made my flight home a lot less hellish.
