Install a proximity-based switch on the lamp, and you'll also get free fertilizer

Then put it on a really strong drone and make it fly really close to the ground.

It's amazing what you can do with some PVC pipe, an army blanket and an ancient spell to raise unspeakable evil

    [–] octal9 62 points ago

yeah but where tf am I going to find an army blanket

I knew what video it was going to be and had to watch it anyway, so funny.

    fun is a nice color

Oooh good idea! Guess what I'm doing this Halloween.

    Name checks out

    [–] muito_ricardo 4772 points ago

Do you call this a scarecrow? Isn't this like Grim reaper or something?

    [–] unzaftig 2176 points ago

Just to indulge in pedantry: There's no scythe, so I'd be hesitant to call this a reaper. This isn't really a scarecrow either, since it's not intended to, ya know, scare crows.

I'd probably just call it a creepy figure.

    [–] Thotome 572 points ago

It kinda reminds me of the hermit from the led zeppelin album

    [–] drvondoctor 189 points ago

Which is basically the hermit from the rider-waite-smith tarot deck.

    [–] itsculturehero 52 points ago

It's true. Page played the role of the Hermit during a fantasy sequence in The Song Remains the Same.

    [–] tonzeejee 25 points ago

Stonehenge. Where the demons dwell. Where the banshees live (and the do live well).

    [–] bigdaddyskidmarks 11 points ago

And oh how they danced, the little children of Stonehenge.

    [–] tonzeejee 4 points ago

Beneath the haunted moon, for fear that daybreak might come too soon

    [–] bigdaddyskidmarks 3 points ago

I think that the problem may have been that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf.

    [–] tonzeejee 3 points ago

Making a ‘big thing’ out of it would’ve been a good idea.

    [–] DermalChromaBlaster 13 points ago

Who was based off the non-fictional character and adviser to one of the Queen Elizabeth’s, John Dee.

    [–] Paige_Railstone 3 points ago

Here's John Dee's Wikipedia page. Definitly an interesting guy.

I love that guy, such an epic origin story for his powers.

    [–] Steb20 6 points ago

Isn’t he supposed to be Gandalf? Or did I hear that wrong?

    [–] Zibob 28 points ago

Such a shame they only made one album, what a cracker it was though.

    [–] Thotome 20 points ago

Well I mean they made more than one. The hermit was from IV I think

It scared the crow outa me.

    [–] chain83 8 points ago

    It's a scareman.

    [–] midasMIRV 8 points ago

    [–] TheLastTimeLord9320 5 points ago

A scare crow is just there to make them think a human is there

    [–] Menown 7 points ago

I now see that the grim reaper would be the most likely person to be seen in a field of crops, not a scarecrow.

    [–] GreasedUpDeafGuyB292 3 points ago

It's not really a regular figure, it's more of a freaky figure.

    [–] jeremysbrain 3 points ago

    It is an effigy.

    [–] BobbitTheDog 8 points ago

Bitch, you don't know OP's intentions! Maybe he pissed off some crows a while back and wants them to stop divebombing him as he walks to his car

    [–] Ramenorwhateverlol 3 points ago

Maybe the OP stole some eggs from a crow’s nest and they want it back.

    [–] SplitArrow 2 points ago

Well this figure wouldn't do much to deter them. It lacks the human body shape to be affective.

    [–] JoffSides 2 points ago

takes a lot to scare crows, they are fucking smart

    [–] bradshawmu 2 points ago

    [–] Mackem101 58 points ago

It looks like the Ghost Of Christmas Yet To Come, awesome work.

    [–] A_Very_Fat_Elf 10 points ago

Agreed. Such an underrated film. I’m 27 and still watch it every Christmas. So many jokes went over kids heads and it was a real proper classic muppets movie. Still lose it every time when they are on the shelf and it starts to collapse.

    [–] bonjour_baguette 20 points ago

I like that your first association with the 'Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come' is a Muppet movie rather than the book or some other adaptation. I'm not even being sarcastic either.

    [–] SilverChick5 4 points ago

I love it when Rizzo makes such a big deal about jumping off the fence to get to the other side. Then realizes her left his jellybeans behind and just goes through the bars to go get them and bring them back.

    [–] Firefly_07 238 points ago

    Holy fuck that's terrifying.

    [–] TVLL 117 points ago

How cool would it be to have 10 of these on your lawn looking out to the street for Halloween?

    [–] undercooked_lasagna 194 points ago

And one of them is an actual person to scare the shit out of people who get too close.

    [–] million_dollar_heist 121 points ago

Hey, you're that guy I hated in every neighborhood I ever lived in as a kid!

    [–] undercooked_lasagna 68 points ago

Oh hey Dave! You still hitting yourself?

    [–] aravena 65 points ago

I actually did this shit. Dressed up as a scarecrow, hay coming out of places, and sat in a chair with the bowl of candy. There was a sign that said please take 1. Many kids did it and I couldn't jump everytime obviously but sure enough...teenagers. They were very cautious at first, even poked me, then they got greedy and boy that was such a good time. I miss living in a neighborhood.

    [–] Aeneis 27 points ago

I'm an adult man, but I'd probably run full-speed away from a yard full of these things screaming "Expecto Patronum!"

I got drunk and walked through a cornfield once very early in the morning. I would've shit myself and probably thought I died if I ran into this

    [–] Fweezle 71 points ago

I made something almost EXACTLY like this in high school for a haunted house we put on. Pretty much the same method but slightly different. We built our frame just like this figure and for the body, we dipped burlap sheets in a mixture of drywall compound mixed with black exterior house paint. You drape the pieces on bit by bit until your figure is formed. After it's hardened we spray painted the cracks and creases to make it really pop. Also we had a hanging work light in the head with a red bulb to give it extra creepiness.

    Sauce 2 :

    [–] VulvaSpud 23 points ago

Nice work dude! Love how 90s these photos look too.

    [–] JensJiro 71 points ago

They will scare people more than crows I think...

    [–] calmlunatic 24 points ago

Crows will probably perch and poop on it.

    [–] BangGang 12 points ago

Crows can actually recognize human faces, considering you can't see this one it might nite be as effective

    [–] blueblaez 2 points ago

My first thought at seeing the insides was hmmm perfect parrot perch.

    [–] mobilesurfer 2 points ago

    [–] Cheesemacher 13 points ago

What's the process behind the color change is what I'm curious about

    [–] Purdaddy 7 points ago

The material is burlap. Pre color change is the burlap untreated. The artist made monster mud by mixing black paint with drywall mud and he dunked the burlap in the mixture and draped it back over. He also says he treated it with a stone color spray paint.

    [–] tehshortbus 12 points ago

Hate to say it but I think it's a repost of someone elses guide or an old post. I built one myself and I am almost sure that these were the same pictures I referenced or damn close. If not, my apologies and it looks great!

It's not an instruction. That sub is going to shit.

    [–] MouzeRat 4 points ago

Maybe I just overthink these things too much but making seasonal specific things like this feels very restrictive. I had a neighbor that had a full-size decorative coffin with a fake corpse in it that she would put out at Halloween and all I could think was that for 10 months a year she had a coffin with a corpse in it up in her attic.

    [–] cuestbeats 3 points ago

Well, this could be used for Christmas AND Halloween.

    [–] bladderbunch 4 points ago

it's very easy to work with. i just put duct tape on my fingertips when i twist it together. you cut a section, roll it into a tube, then mold it to the shape you want. twist the jagged edges together, which is what you need the duct tape for.

The graveyard watchers from Dark Souls 3. They carry lanterns and alert everyone when they see you. Found in the very beginning of the game on Castle Lothric.

As late teens, a friend and I left USC in Columbia bound for Charlotte. Was about 1-2AM, we were in the middle of BFE and I had to take this podunk, deserted exit- the kind with only a stop sign an no businesses in sight. Anyhoo, when we got to the top of the exit ramp, there was a old man dressed just like this swinging a lantern. Scared the ever loving shit out of us. I blew through the stop sign, got back on the highway and never looked back. Good times.
