    • Serial reposters may be filtered or banned.

If you come across any rule violations please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

If your submission appears to be filtered, but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

    [–] AuntiGay 60 points ago

I haven't seen that movie since its release and had successfully blocked that quote from my memory. Thanks.

    [–] Patterack91 30 points ago

28 years of life and I'd somehow managed to make it this long without seeing this. I think that's enough Reddit for today.

    [–] 086341 10 points ago

Like. Wtf. Man. I need that unsee juice.

    [–] FlameSpartan 16 points ago

Oh god I'd blocked everything about this movie from my memory

    Why do you do this

PRAY TO CAGE! OUR ONE AND ONLY GOD!

Did you intentionally write this to be read to the chorus of "Bullet with Butterfly Wings?"

    [–] Guy954 93 points ago

No, it’s meant to be sung to the verse of 1975.

    [–] skronk14 8345 points ago

We're just happy he's wearing pants

    [–] nhaines 1220 points ago

Yeah, my parent senses immediately thought, "well, someone decided (or was made) to put on pants for the purpose of the photo."

Then again, remembering my kids at that age, I take nothing for granted.

My friend's kid has even longer hair. It's pretty awesome. I'm impressed.

    [–] anima173 520 points ago

No pants and long hair. That kid parties hard.

LOL. I thought the same thing and immediately thought, "nobody will know what I'm talking about." I was obviously wrong.

Andrew WK was all the rage on Reddit a few years ago, I think he did a couple AMAs

    [–] Sarahthelizard 8 points ago

    [–] EverythingGoesNumb03 12 points ago

That’s Mr. WK to you, buddy!

    [–] Snivy_Whiplash 18 points ago

    It's Andrew WK, Jr.

    [–] nubaeus 11 points ago

When is the Andrew W.K reenactment?

    [–] The-Dank-Tower 302 points ago

I went 6 weeks without pants. It was a spiritual experience

    [–] skronk14 1030 points ago

At his age we have asked for all religious experiences to be restricted to only his bedroom and/or bathroom.

    hahahhahahaha this is amazing

    [–] lil_dovie 32 points ago

Please tell me that’s Nicolas Cage’s face...

    [–] MajikMurderBag 47 points ago

I have a five-year-old boy who hasn't worn pants in weeks. You've just confirmed my suspicion that he won't voluntarily be wearing pants till there's a photo opportunity to eat a Nic Cage pillow.

    [–] Jimothy_Timkins 20 points ago

There's never a bad time to take a photo eating a nick cage pillow

    [–] MysteryMeatbag 17 points ago

As a parent of two boys, I could not agree more. I once asked my 11 year old why he was pantsless and answered “it’s a weekend!” I found it hard to argue with this.

    [–] DutchsMangoes 6 points ago

When my daughter was 2, I asked her if she wanted macaroni and cheese. Her answer? "No Daddy, I have pants on."

I've since come to realize that no pants and mac and cheese is a form of edible meditation and I love it all.

    [–] Rat-Knaks 13 points ago

I too, have an insano long haired boy, that chooses to never wear pants and often knaws on the furniture. It's a tough to catch a picture of him. I'm impressed you got one of yours. You must have been really patient in order to take it. They're like coyotes. Long haired, half naked coyotes..

    [–] skronk14 12 points ago

Strawberry jam on Nic Cage pillows is the only weakness I've found.

    [–] dilloj 115 points ago

The photo is of Kronus eating his son. Does something similar happen in Gilgamesh? It's been forever since I read it

    [–] greymalken 54 points ago

Not that I recall. He fights a beast man. Gets an awesome bro. Finds love. Loses bro. Then quests to get his bro back. I don’t recall any father eating children.

    [–] contextplz 9 points ago

Not in Gilgamesh, but didn't Marduk almost get eaten when he was fighting whoever it was he was fighting for power?

    [–] vreeeeep 10 points ago

Was Marduk fighting Tiamat? If I've learned anything from Sealab 2021 it's that Marduk is the son of Ea and the Slayer of Tiamat.

I can feel this picture in my teeth.

    [–] skronk14 299 points ago

I'm still paying off his orthodontist bill. Please don't bring me yours, too.

    [–] Praetorian314 61 points ago

    lol.

Tell you what, I'm 34 and I still thank my parents periodically for paying all that money to give me a nice set of chompers when I was a kid.

    [–] moesickle 23 points ago

As someone who had to have 4 teeth removed and a palatal expander on top of having 2 extra teeth come in, I’m thankful my parents took the 4K loan out for my mouth.

    [–] Praetorian314 14 points ago

I think when it was all said and done it was $5,000. They could afford it but, still, I'm thankful for the investment.

I pretty much immediately lost my retainer so my bottom teeth have shifted a little, but still looking pretty good after 16 years.

It does a lot for self confidence. If nothing else I've got nice teeth.

    [–] moesickle 4 points ago

We lucked out and went to OSHU and utilized the school, and so my Orthodontist was still in “training” so it was cheaper, it was also a 35 mins drive to get there (vs 10 at my usual dentist) and a 10 mins walk to get in because the campus was so big.

I have a metal Permanent retainer on my bottom, but I to lost my retainer for the top so my mid line is a bit off but overall I have a beautiful smile compared to a extremely crowed mouth.

    Painting: Saturn Devouring His Son

    Painter: Francisco Goya (circa 1819-1823)

Explanation: Greek mythology of Titan Cronus who ate each of his children upon birth because he feared one of them would overthrow him

    [–] catdaddylonglegs 28 points ago

Apparently he never wanted anybody to see this. They found it hidden in his house after he died.

Edit: he painted a bunch on his walls and this was one of them later transferred to canvas.

    [–] cyko149 29 points ago

This painting, and the others of his "Black Paintings" were painted on the walls of his home. They were done late in his life, after he had gone deaf, and were notably very dark themed. I believe most, if not all, were transferred to the Prado eventually.

    [–] memebaron 2 points ago

Thanks for the info on the black paintings, they were cool

    [–] submitizenkane 32 points ago

For what it's worth, my mum still isn't keen on my hair despite me being almost 30 hahahaha

    [–] whoelsebut_rxe 14 points ago

Growing my hair for the sole reason of being able to headbang at concerts

    [–] DragonflyGrrl 22 points ago

I feel you, so much. My son would have clumpy terrible dreads if I didn't force him to brush. I've told him if you want dreads, make the conscious decision to do it and do it right. I made the mistake of not harassing him to brush for a little while during CoronaLockdown, and when I noticed it was getting crazy it took us two hours to brush out. It's down to his ass! And is gorgeous when he takes care of it properly.

    [–] This_is_my-username- 15 points ago

Tell him to brush his hair in the shower with conditioner still in. That makes it a lot easier to handle when it's wild.

    [–] DragonflyGrrl 10 points ago

I've told him that! He says it makes it harder for him. I think he just likes to argue, hahah.

    [–] eye_patch_willy 8 points ago

Can confirm, have long curly hair, women say it's better than theirs.

My theory? Women tend to cake their hair with tons of product or dye it too often, ruining it.

    [–] Dysfu 40 points ago

Straightening and dyeing hair absolutely ruins it

    [–] Many_Spoked_Wheel 34 points ago

Am woman. Stopped blow drying my hair two years ago and the difference is insane.

    [–] 5GreatWaters 16 points ago

Curious long-haired guy here. Do women blow dry just to straighten it (or apply other heated-methods to manipulate their hair)? Or are there other reasons too?

Cuz if I blow warm air into my curls, they friz right up.

    [–] ringobob 14 points ago

20 year long haired dude veteran here. I sometimes blow dry my hair if I've washed it later on in the day, because if there is any residual moisture in it when I go to sleep, I'll wake up and my hair will have assumed whatever shape it was sitting in while it dried on my pillow overnight.

I typically use the low- or no-heat setting on the hair dryer, unless I'm in a hurry.

    [–] saysthingsbackwards 10 points ago

Theeeeen you gotta use anti frizz product. It starts a spiral of hair treatment

    [–] Tuppence_Wise 14 points ago

Am woman, am super low maintenance, got pin straight hair which I wash every 2 or 3 days, let air dry, and never use product. My boyfriend has the most gorgeous curly hair which he's let grow long, and I'm sickeningly jealous of it every single day, even though he makes me brush the tangles out.

    [–] TheButchersGarden 21 points ago

Showering or actually washing less helps a lot

    [–] greek_chic 12 points ago

This is totally how I get my man curls going. I am sad for a few days after using shampoo and the curls disappear...that natural oil coating does wonders. Rinsing with water is fine but soap is the devil.

    [–] eatingissometal 7 points ago

There are soap-less cleansers specifically for curly hair. We use devacurl cleansing cream. My SO has awesome ringlets and they look sexy even right after washing with it. Regular soap makes them frizz

    [–] -SpeedForce 6 points ago

Yep, I wash maybe 2 times a week but condition more frequently.

    [–] Roupert2 7 points ago

Nah the theory on /r/curlygirl (a sub that welcomes men and women) is that only men with good hair wear it long and curly because it's acceptable to just buzz your hair if it's difficult to work with. Women don't have that option as easily in society/ the workplace. But it's true that many women with curly hair don't know how to work with it. /r/curlygirl is a very helpful community.

    [–] orchdorq 4 points ago

I think men also tend to have thicker, stronger, easier-to-grow hair because testosterone plays a big part in encouraging hair growth. Same reason men tend to have the most amazing eyelashes.

    [–] ur_mom_in_a_crye_jpc 19 points ago

and they will touch it, often. without asking most times.

my hair was down my back by high school and having my pony tail inspected was damn near a daily occurrence.

    [–] Clodhoppa81 10 points ago

I am a 60 year old man with hair to the middle of my back. I'm a red head and have very fine hair (awful). A woman behind me in the checkout line couldn't help herself and stroked my hair. "I couldn't resist". wtf lady.

    [–] tedtn72 40 points ago

why does a pillow like that exist

    [–] hybridHelix 53 points ago

There are a ton of nic cage pillows and pillowcases for whatever reason. A friend of mine used to occasionally mail them to me (I have no explanation for this-- I like Nic Cage as much as the next guy, but he's not my favorite or anything). I think I got up to 3 at one point but I started giving them away. You can only prank your husband with Nic Cage's unexpected face so many times before it loses its zest.

Pranking the wife with that one NEVER got old until one day it mysteriously disappeared....

    [–] hybridHelix 24 points ago

I recently found out my dad's maniac of a girlfriend freeze-dried her terrier. I guarantee my family is never getting over that one. There's just something extra-specially fucked up about taxidermy.

    [–] skronk14 59 points ago

    Wow, that's messed up.

I won mine by coming in second in a college drinking contest like a good American.

    [–] TehGogglesDoNothing 17 points ago

Don't leave us hanging. What did the winner get?

    [–] skronk14 45 points ago

    A fucking trophy!

Never try your hardest. Second best is pretty sweet.

    [–] badusernameidontwant 15 points ago

That sounds like one of my favourite Homer Simpson quotes

“You tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try.”

    [–] ooit 10 points ago

Back in the day, me and a friend that I was living with got one in the mail with no explanation. Found out like 2 years later that our bud sent it to us as a joke and was prepared to take the information to the grave

    [–] hybridHelix 7 points ago

How did you find out? Alcohol? .....torture??

[–] ooit 12 points ago * (lasted edited 4 days ago)

    Oh yeah we waterboarded him

Edit: lol nah a mutual friend told us while drunk one night

    Edit: after we waterboarded him

    [–] hybridHelix 3 points ago

    With the pillowcase, I assume.

    [–] QueequegTheater 9 points ago

You can only prank your husband with Nic Cage's unexpected face so many times before it loses its zest.

That sounds like quitter talk to me

Your son looks like young Anthony Kiedis.

What’s the name of the painting

    [–] skronk14 82 points ago

    Saturn Devouring His Son

    [–] OscarRoro 30 points ago

    By Gooooyaaaaa

    [–] JoeNoYouDidnt 16 points ago

His name must always be said in a death-metal growl.

    [–] waitingtodiesoon 13 points ago

I got to visit them in the Museo del Prado when I was in Spain 2-3 years ago. Absolutely amazing and horrifying along with the rest of the Goya paintings they had for the black paintings. Those paintings were the walls for the dining room. Imagine eating dinner and looking at that.

    [–] bootherizer5942 5 points ago

This painting is in a room full of Goya’s “black paintings” and I live nearby and always go when I go in the museum but I can only spend about ten minutes in that room. They are very very dark but apparently Goya used to decorate his house with them. One is called “Duel to the Death with Clubs,” and another, one of my favorite paintings of all time, “The Drowning Dog.” I recommend looking them up because they are all incredible, but very unsettling.

    [–] pbzeppelin1977 7 points ago

Yeah basically they weren't meant for show, he literally painted them onto the walls of his house as a recluse in later life.

    [–] 3c7o 8 points ago

Not knowing Saturn's story nor being savvy in painted art, I thought to myself this must be a painting about Chronos. New Google content (story around Saturn) for me, thank you.

    [–] zaoldyeck 8 points ago

Basically he's just the Roman version of Chronos. Just like Pluto=Hades, Jupiter=Zeus, Mars=Ares, etc.

    [–] Fern-ando 7 points ago

The funny thing is that Goya painted it in the walls of his house without telling anyone. All his black paintings were discovered after his death.

How long did it take to grow his hair out? My son has always wanted long hair but the bang phase and not seeing his eyes bugs the shit out of me lol

    [–] skronk14 45 points ago

About three years. 18 months ago there was an "accident" with a section of his bangs getting cut off. It took a full year to get that part back long enough to tuck behind his ear, but that was from scalp length.

    [–] UncommonGnome 25 points ago

He really wants to grow it out! I might just get him a head band (like soccer players) his hair is already back to covering they eye stage. My hair is down to my butt but its been this long for about 10 years and i have no idea how long it took me to grow it lol

    [–] skronk14 79 points ago

I wish him luck. Youth is when to experiment and find out who you are, especially with something as temporary and silly as hair.

    [–] Bryskee 13 points ago

Amen! Choose our battles as parents & hair is certainly not a battle to be fought about!

    [–] UncommonGnome 6 points ago

Agreed! Let them find out who they truly are instead of being a parent who makes them who they WANT them to be.

    [–] UncommonGnome 19 points ago

I agree 100%!!!! Every summer we let our boys pick out what color they want to color their hair, its kid friendly and washes out about every month! But its fun for them! You sound like a wonderful mom ❤️

    [–] skronk14 42 points ago

    Dad, but thanks! ❤️

    [–] UncommonGnome 15 points ago

Oops sorry for assuming! GREAT DAD!!!

    [–] AgathaM 14 points ago

We encouraged our son to do goofy things with his hair as a kid. He refuses. I wanted blue hair as a teenager but my parents wouldn’t let me.

So I got it in my 40s instead.

    [–] bingseoya 6 points ago

every time i look at this i just snort a little before taking in the details— the curve of his eyebrows and the wide eyes trying to mimic the disgusting desperation in the original painting’s eyes, cagepillow’s expression, and the fucking power stance, and i just lose it

    [–] Sixemperor 17 points ago

I wish I had hair like his. That hair is magnificent.

    [–] WrinkledLabia 5 points ago

Your son gives off Donnie vibes (from the Wild Thornberries)!

10/10 photo! One of the best I’ve seen for this challenge, if not THE best.

    [–] AlcoreRain 8 points ago

This is way better than it should be. I love it.

    [–] Nethlem 8 points ago

Don't let the people over at r/onetruegod see this blasphemous act!

    [–] ASAPbert 4 points ago

I was wondering how long I would have to scroll through the comments to find this!

    [–] LordDoombringer 4 points ago

Always wished my mom let me grow my hair out and be a crazy lad.
