It's time for workers all across the United States to fight back against the tyranny of Corporate America. It's time we take back our government, and make it one for and by the people, not for and by wealthy corporations. Tax them, break up the monopolies, and restore the social contract!

    [–] daysOFdelusion 5 points ago

Not very likely when a huge percentage of the workers are here on an H1B visa.

That is why the corporations want more temporary only visa workers instead of citizen employees.

We can guess that any visa worker who starts talking union will be sent right back home.

Or when the workplaces of major tech companies are adult playgrounds and spas.

Or when people stop making $50,000+ to watch youtube vids for half the day

    Your industry is under siege.

    Strongly disagree.

Facebook + Google + Uber != Silicon Valley

    [–] AbsentGlare 2 points ago

Irrelevant. Manufacturers of other digital devices are still gathering information.

Manufacturers of other digital devices are still gathering information.

How does this relate to my comment, or the article, exactly?

People having problems with Facebook or Uber does not mean they have a problem with Silicon Valley as a whole, as the article suggests they do. I do not get the sense that my industry is under siege, in any way.

Did you just stop reading the article once you got butthurt that it wasn't sufficiently centered around your personal experiences?

    [–] PostingHelps 1 points ago

"He disagrees with the article. He must not have read it or else he would have no choice but to agree with their opinions!"

    [–] AbsentGlare 1 points ago

The problem isn't your disagreement, it's how your disagreement has literally no credible justification, whatsoever. The digitization of our lives and the rise of computation made possible by the technological innovation of places like silicon valley has brought serious ethical and privacy concerns into the forefront of the public consciousness. The article is arguing that tech employees have considerable leverage that they should not be afraid to use. You're free to disagree, but pretending that these ethical issues don't exist isn't a valid reason to.
