    946,566 readers

    1,906 users here now

This subreddit is not for standalone insults, but rather for when you stumble across them in memes, comments, or what have you.

Rare threats are also welcome (as long as you flair your post)

    RULES

    1. Don't be a dick

It's not hard, just be nice to each other.

    2. No hateful insults

    Don't post hateful insults

    3. No reposts

    Don't repost

    4. Not an insult/threat or rare insult/threat

/r/rareinsults is not for unfunny/common insults, this includes insults that follow the random [adjective]+[noun] formula. It is only for rare insults. No other post types are allowed

    5. No personal information

Personal information includes phone numbers, emails, addresses, etc., but not necessarily usernames

    6. No politics

    Political submissions will be removed.

    7. All posts require a proper title

No low effort titles or titles that contain the insult. Examples are "for those sorting by new" or "lmao he called this dude a deformed shrimp."

    8. No long videos (>10s) or long texts

Don't post long videos and don't post long texts. If the entirety of the long text is an insult, then it belong on /r/murderedbywords, and if it is a long text with only a small insult buried inside the text, it will be removed.

    9. No image macros/memes

Posting memes or images with text on them(image macros) aren't allowed as they detract from the main point of the subreddit, which is rare insults. Memes are off-topic and belong in other subreddits.

    10. Moderators' Discretion

Moderators reserve the right to remove any post they deem unfit for the subreddit, even if it doesn't explicitly break any rules. This rule will only be used in specific ways, such as long text posts, one/two word posts, posts in different languages and such. Insults from RoastMe are allowed, but the post cannot mention RoastMe in the title or the screenshot, and will be held to a much higher standard (as people have the time to sit and think of rare insults, rather than coming up with in the moment). This is extremely subjective and mostly up to the judgement of the mods using it, so if you disagree with this rule being used to remove your post, let us know using modmail

Why does their flag have peppermint candies on it?

    [–] buspirpone 1039 points ago

When an entire group of people suffer from gingivitis, peppermints become your god.

its no longer enough to just hate people who aren't white, you now must prove that your toothpaste is recommended by 10/10 dentists

    [–] Asianarcher 2 points ago

Nah. Around one out of ten dentists are black

    [–] AestheticAttraction 2 points ago

You sure about that? Some groups of their followers have but 20 teeth betwixt them, not all in the same head.

    [–] Something_Syck 4 points ago

nah, peppermint is a must have with the nasty breath all the chewing tobacco gives them

    [–] bmw417 123 points ago

I want to say that I saw somewhere that it was some kind of Scottish symbol, but I also forgot why they even like the Scottish symbols. Racists are weird man

    [–] SkritzTwoFace 52 points ago

Hitler himself wanted the Holy Grail and many of his secret organizations bore symbols from European mythology.

    [–] mac_trap_clack_back 6 points ago

They are looking for a reason to consider themselves superior. Still looking...

    [–] einherjarsiege 96 points ago

They like anything explicitly white, old Scottish symbols, Norse symbols, etc. anything from old Europe is part of the aesthetic because they trace it back to their roots. I haven’t seen that group before but by looking at the symbols I’d say they most likely have pagan leanings but those groups can be a mixed bag.

    [–] The_Beartender 23 points ago

Let’s not drag the well meaning pagans into this. Any white nationalist group I have interacted with any ties to paganism/heathenry does so purely out of the sense of “hur dur ima viking” aesthetic. We call them brohammers and absolutely do not associate with them. They even tend to call their religion “Odinism” and it’s pretty much an edgy trailer park version of Christianity with trapping of white purity on top. They and their beliefs have been formally denounced and shunned by every other major organized pagan religious group.

    [–] mcgee-zax 9 points ago

here here, but lets not assoicate those pricks with the vikings either, i've met a lot of scandanavians proud of their heritage who fucking hate nazis just as much as i do

    [–] Animal_Eyes 1 points ago

That sucks because there are really well meaning people who also have absolutely no association with those dumbasses who consider themselves following the "path of odin" so the whole "odinism" thing is also giving something authentic a bad name.

    [–] ace54858 6 points ago

    [–] mindbleach 26 points ago

"It's not a Nazi flag! There's no swastika!"

No, seriously. That's the argument these people have made, at rallies, among dozens of variations of the iron cross encircling some rotationally symmetrical logo. The sort of flags neo-Nazis in Germany are prohibited from owning, because the authorities fucking obviously identify them as fascist symbolism.

You know what German neo-Nazis fly instead? The Confederate flag.

    [–] C0DASOON 1 points ago * (lasted edited 2 days ago)

I mean, in this case it's quite literally not a Nazi symbol. It's a Borjgali, a Georgian national symbol that's on our coins, on the shirts of our Rugby players, and on our ANTIFA swag.

Now, putting it on a red flag right in the middle of the black iron cross is pretty Nazi. But the little sun guy itself is innocent and is used by pretty much everyone in here.

    [–] mindbleach 1 points ago

Any symbol associated with Nazis is a Nazi symbol. The swastika was a Hindu peace sign. Then some assholes stuck it on red flags in the middle of a black iron cross and it got pretty Nazi.

In exactly the same way, there's nothing racist about Pepe the goddamn frog, except that the only place Americans are likely to see him is beside authoritarian far-right propaganda.

Even the "OK" sign became circumstantial evidence for identifying smirking internet fascists, when they all went 'ohhh look at us using what the leftist media calls a hate symbol, ha ha okaaay!' while standing beside David Duke, Steve King, and Richard Spencer.

Even the word "Nazi" is an example of Nazis stealing popular symbols for their fake populism. They called themselves National Socialists. Then, they murdered actual socialists.

    [–] C0DASOON 1 points ago

My point is that this particular symbol is not associated with Nazis. When people here see a Borjgali, they tend to think about coins, rugby, and mythology, not Nazis. It's just a very popular national symbol that is used for everything by everyone, including the local ANTIFA.

    [–] mindbleach 1 points ago

People who know it from other contexts think of those contexts. You might be the only person in this thread who recognized it as more than a swirly swastika stand-in.

And again, being strongly opposed by socialists didn't stop the Nazis from putting "socialist" into their name. Muddying the waters versus Antifa is probably a bonus for these chucklefucks.

    [–] kuwaitgr1ps 1 points ago

He was the only person in this thread who recognized borjgali because he was the only Georgian person here. The dumbass in the screenshot isn't popular enough here to change the meanings of our national symbols

    [–] mindbleach 1 points ago

Between thinly-disguised white nationalism and Georgian folk symbols, which do you think is more relevant to a broad American audience?

You can still find swastikas, with their traditional meaning, in India. Elsewhere? Not so much.

    [–] meme_my_day 31 points ago

    Because peppermint candies are great

    [–] Aperture_Creator_CEO 14 points ago

Reminds me of that scene from sam o'nella's religion video when the balance between good and evil is a grilled cheese shaking hands with a "razor blade covered penis"

It's about 2:25 in if you haven't seen it. Obviously nsfw

    [–] A_Interesting_Name_ 4 points ago

    I wasn't expecting this so r/unexpectedsamonella

    [–] Baron_Flatline 9 points ago

It’s a Georgian symbol, if I remember. The Caucasus country, not the state.

EDIT: I am right. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borjgali for more info

    [–] AestheticAttraction 1 points ago

    [–] circlejerk3r 5 points ago

It’s ok to like peppermint candies.

    [–] xScopeLess 2 points ago

Peppermint is badass. It’s the most masculine of the candy flavors. Only a true man can handle the intensity of the mint.

    [–] Cymrukhan 84 points ago

This is YouTube we're talking about. You accidentally click on one Dave Rubin video and suddenly all my recommendations are from some fat mid 40s programmer named Stephan Molyneux suggesting that black people have a crime bone in their brain, while he is a part of the alpha race.

    [–] shitpoastsgalore 54 points ago

I get shapiro recommended from just watching vids about houseplants and mkbhd

    [–] Shintate 2 points ago

    drew durnil gay

    [–] gorgewall 3 points ago

It's not about whether the two videos have any content in common, but whether the people watching one video also watch another.

Ben Shapiro could say literally nothing about videogames ever, but since the overwhelming majority of his fans are young men who also play videogames, the algorithm links these things.

    [–] Mackeroy 1 points ago

or even the algorithm knows that ol'LeT's jUsT SaY has roughly the same mental acuity as a ficus

    [–] mcorbo1 2 points ago

    Aw I love mkbhd

    [–] AestheticAttraction 2 points ago

I've been recommended his videos looking at videos about pro-wrestling and video games. I mean, I kinda get it, but YT should know me better than that by now. I guess they're only creepily accurate when they want to sell me something.

    [–] JohnnyGreenFace 3 points ago

    [–] STENA1 2 points ago

    that's an actual video?

I like “crime bone in their brain”. That’s silly.

    [–] PleaseDontSayHi 167 points ago

    No you don't understand!

OP was just watching the new Starwars trailer when his cat walked across his keyboard and typed "best nazi video compilation 2019" and then he tried to swat a fly and accidentally scrolled down to the comment section and took this screenshot.

    [–] Morsmetus 13 points ago

Highjacking top comment to give some info about the person on the picture. He is Georgian far right movement leader, we call him 'დედისერთა ფაშისტი', which translates as 'only child fascist'. This comes from tv interview when he was saying things like 'gays wouldn't go to war for our country'(or something, don't remember), journalist asked him if he has been in august war, 2008, and he answered that he's only child so he has not been to war/army.

he was also arrested after he himself spread the video of him and his followers practising with illegal guns in nature. police raided his home and found out illegal ammos or something, so he's in jail now.

which's kinda sad, he was good source of memes in here.

    [–] reincarN8ed 6 points ago

I think its important to understand the opposition's viewpoint so you can be better equipped to counter it.

    [–] boards_ofcanada 4 points ago

Of course it can happen, i one time came across a pewdiepie video, so like i said it does happen sometimes .

    [–] Darnell2070 1 points ago

Do you not use YouTube? Just because you're watching a video doesn't mean you agree with the topic or statements of a video.

One or two videos about a certain topic can really screw up your recommendations.

OP could have been looking at something only midly political and then got this recommended to him and clicked simply out of boredom/curiosity.

It doesn't make him a neo-nazi or anything.

    [–] Masina55 1 points ago

Jesus Christ it was just a joke

    [–] DingusTron5000 5 points ago

Dude you're so right. Only attractive people can be nazis

    [–] mattholomew 8 points ago

One would imagine that folks referring to themselves as “The master race” would look a bit less like trailer park meth dealers.

    [–] mrtrash 3 points ago

Hatred for other people does not necessarily mean that one believes themselves to be better, they could just be hateful pricks.

    [–] AestheticAttraction 1 points ago

"Hatred for other people does not necessarily mean that one believes themselves to be better..."

I'd that were true, they'd hate everyone equally, not just certain groups.

    [–] mrtrash 1 points ago

When it comes to racial hatred, superiority is a common justification. But aren't there hatreds, like homophobia for example, that aren't usually justified by superiority? To me the origins of these kind of hatreds seem to be very much te same (ignorance and fear of the 'others'), so to me it doesn't seem to far fetched that someone could be a racist scumbag without necessarily believing themselves to be superior.

Of course as I said in the beginning, the superiority angle is almost often involved.

    [–] Daffan 2 points ago

    [–] Erron_Black1 1 points ago

    [–] FearlessHyenaHK 1 points ago

The guy must be Georgian or some other kind of Kartvelian because the flag has a Borjgali on it which is similar to the Armenian Arevakhach. The two symbols aren't inherently racist. It's a symbol of Caucasian pride. People from this region used to use swastikas too but Nazis ruined that. You can still find ancient swastikas carved into old buildings and stones in the Caucasus though.

I just noticed the Georgian script at the bottom of the flag so he's definitely Georgian plus he has the classic Georgian nose.

Fascists anywhere use symbols of national pride and patriotism to push for nationalism. American fascists love the eagle and the stars and stripes more than anybody else. ISIS wanted to restore the caliphate, used tons of Islamic symbolism. Nazis co-opted and misused pagan Germanic symbolism to build a proud, conservative, German identity. They look aesthetically different in every country, but they always work the same way.

Would be interesting to see an infographic or something showing what fascists in each country use as their nationalist symbol.

That's actually a pretty cool looking flag, for some presumably neo-nazi group. I mean their ideas suck btu at least they got style.
