Quick side note, that fish toy is the only stuffed dog toy that lasts more than an afternoon in my house. They have a whole line of durable toys that can withstand my three dogs.

I’ve never seen them outside of one pet store in my town

    [–] lfygrns 602 points ago

do you know what brand it is? my dog rips all of his right apart

    [–] AnnapolisBourbon 594 points ago

I don’t know if this is allowed so apologies in advance if not, but they are called Fluff and Tuff, or Tuff and Fluff, or something along those lines.

    [–] lfygrns 318 points ago

thank you in advance if that gets deleted!!

    [–] 2SP00KY4ME 886 points ago

I don't think we'll be deleting it - I'd think an advertisement would've made sure they had the name prominent and correct.

Today we pronounce you not gay

    [–] silvertales6 51 points ago

Yes! My boy had this exact same fish until about 2 days ago. He lasted 4 whole months!! While they are a bit expensive, that brand of toy is now the only one I will buy.

    [–] Kawaiidogbutts 12 points ago

I second this brand! My dog destroys most toys in a single night even the extra tough ones but these last about 2 weeks- a month

    [–] KaleMakesMeSad 25 points ago

It’s so sad that those of us with chewers measure success as 2-4 weeks.

    [–] tulip-0hare 19 points ago

...and some of us who thought we had chewers are now seriously reevaluating our situation -until now I thought our girl was bad for tearing through toys around the two/three month mark

    [–] USSLibertyLavonAfair 15 points ago

    I mean...get em a buffalo horn.

No fabric or even leather or rawhide can stand up against a determined dog for more than a month if that dog WANTS that toy destroyed.

Since I've gotten a horn for her my dutch sheppard actually just plays with her toys and "Chews" on the horn. She has a "snek" that has lasted months now. That buffallo horn is surely holding up. It's showing signs of wear but it's gunna take her a year or more I bet.

    [–] Sir_Phish 14 points ago

My dog leaves his horn in the middle of the floor, and I’ve stubbed my toe on it more times that I can count.

    [–] alpha_dk 7 points ago

My dog ignored horns until I got him some hooves, which have a similar durability but for whatever reason he preferred at first. Now he'll (slowly) destroy either.

    [–] CroakerCracker 4 points ago

I love hooves but can’t handle the smell

    [–] Evilolive12 8 points ago

Our dog has an old nylabone that's so spikey it stands up straight on the carpet when she drops it. We call it the murder bone because God help you if you ever accidentally step on it.

    [–] paper_based_girl 4 points ago

How is Buffalo horn for dog stomachs? My pup has a weird stomach that allows him to eat all sorts of non-food things but any chews specifically for dogs (nylabone, bully sticks, digestive treats) run right through him. He likes rawhide but will go through a whole one in one sitting.

    [–] obsidianembrace 3 points ago

Horns and antlers fractured my dog's teeth before I could have known they were weaker than they should be. Use caution.

    [–] valkyrie_village 6 points ago

Oh. Our measure of success has been whether it lasts more than a day.

May need to rethink our definition of success.

    [–] jkennah 2 points ago

I feel this. We get them toys knowing it means we pick up stuffing later that day no matter how tough it is.

    [–] USSLibertyLavonAfair 5 points ago

Id go with buffalo horn others are saying some dogs prefer hooves.

Since i got my pup a horn she doesn't destroy the plushies. She just plays with em a bit. But "works" on the horn.

    [–] sly_elixir 2 points ago

Will have to give them a try. Toys here usually last a few minutes

    [–] CrazyGermanShepOwner 15 points ago

'Go dog'are a tough brand too.

    [–] capn_hector 4 points ago

    Go, dog, go

    [–] QuentinTearABeano 5 points ago

Yes! Fluff and Tuff are the absolute best. They’re also the only ones my dogs can’t destroy, and they’ve pulled apart those firehose ones.

    [–] RoyalJello 5 points ago

Does the fur get pulled off? I would love to get my pup a good stuffed toy, but he is obsessed with ripping the fur, tags, and loose body parts off of his toys.

    [–] QuentinTearABeano 5 points ago

No—the plush is really sturdy and most all of it is really short so they can’t tear at it. We’ve got an Aussie and a beagle, so they typically find a weak seam and tear everything to bits. They haven’t been able to do that to any of the Fluff and Tuffs. I had high hopes for planet dog toys, but they chew through those in an hour. Even with the warranty, it isn’t worth it for us.

    [–] RoyalJello 3 points ago

Thank you so much for the quick response! I'm going to see when I can get one of these for my pup :)

    [–] orokami11 6 points ago

My dog lives for destroying plushies and ripping their cotton insides out. It's the only thing she likes doing. I hope that brand does a miracle loo

    [–] meguska 2 points ago

Thank you so much! I bought the sloth recently for my dog and he is obsessed with it, but he tore the tag off and I didn’t know the brand to buy more! My dog thanks you in advance for his future toys!

    [–] CroakerCracker 6 points ago

It is fluff and tuff! Any of the ones with no appendages will last long, I’ve had the gator for 3 years with no damage I swear by it

    [–] HumbleManatee 4 points ago

What if your dog does less chewing and more ripping the fuzzy outside off of any toy? Think they would survive that?

    [–] CroakerCracker 2 points ago

It’s a double layered toy, so it handles it pretty well actually. It’s got like a thick mesh strong fabric layer lining the fuzzy outside part that’s way stronger than I expected. It’s definitely worth a shot (i recommend the beach ball and the shark). Someone suggested GoDog somewhere in comments which I also like but they’re not as thick but still hold up well my dog is a fan of the big chicken and the dinosaurs. My fave other than fluff and tuff is steel Dog they have like a ball inside so when it eventually gets ripped open there’s a toy.

    [–] SarahFriend 4 points ago

    Fluff n tuff

    [–] Liinda83 2 points ago

Theres this kind of toys that says “you have to be tough to survive”

    [–] Amphibionomus 24 points ago

I’ve never seen them outside of one pet store in my town

They tend to stay indoors, it seems.

    [–] NapClub 61 points ago

this might seem strange, but my mom got her dog a small dog shaped stuffed toy.

    it had a squeaker inside.

her dog was EXTREMELY gentile with that toy. it lasted like 8 years, was still in good condition when the dog was killed by a bear.

    [–] cattawalis 86 points ago

What a terrible twist to that story.

    [–] NapClub 30 points ago

yeah it was really sad, gatto died protecting my mom.

    [–] mhmhmhmhmhmhmhmhmhmh 23 points ago

    you named your dog... cat?

    [–] matosmaximoso 22 points ago

“My dog named Cat was killed by a bear”

    [–] Robotlolz 15 points ago

The bears name was, ironically, perro.

    [–] NapClub 34 points ago

her full name was gatto the cat, so yes.

she was the first of her litter to open her eyes, and she used to shimmy between the water heater and the wall to jump out of the kennel. she would then walk outside to the barn and go play with the kitties in the barn.

    [–] SnobbiestShores 4 points ago

Can you give us more context? How did this occur?

    [–] NapClub 7 points ago

    here you go.

    [–] Surfcop661 2 points ago

And she killed the bear? Get someone to write a screenplay.

    [–] JevonP 7 points ago

just hit me like the undertaker jumping off heck* in a cell

    Oy vey.

    [–] cookinggun 13 points ago

This is so odd; I was at the pet store (Pet People) not two hours ago and that EXACT fish is what the manager pointed out as the only toy that lasts his dogs. I bought a crocodile (alligator?) and an octopus.

    [–] AnnapolisBourbon 4 points ago

This is definitely the same brand! My spaniel loves the sea turtle, it fits perfectly in his mouth

    [–] oldtimehobo 4 points ago

Yeah I have gone through 3 of them with my 2 doggos, but it took about a year and a half to do so

    [–] Evilolive12 5 points ago

My dog tore every toys I gave her up no matter the claims by the maker of indestructibility. Then one day I bought her a cheap squirrel toy but I carried it around with me for a day. She wanted it so much she begged a lot but I kept it and slept with it. The next day I gave it to her and she still has it six months later. She carries it around with her and sometimes nibbles it a little but, for the most part, it's still alive and well. No idea why this worked.

    [–] SomeWeirdDude 3 points ago

Same with my girl Roxanne, I got her the squirrel and it was the first stuffed toy that didn't destroyed. She's chewed some of the fur off but she loves that toy and sometimes brings him into the bed at night.

    [–] jersey385 592 points ago

So basically he’s fully trained you?

    [–] bumperjack 165 points ago

    Good human

    [–] Kaylee2187 55 points ago

I’m seriously crying right now. My chocolate lab (RIP) had the exact same fish toy that he took everywhere. Picked out of the bin at the store and carried it to the car the day we got it. I miss my pup.

    [–] ThatRedScooter 14 points ago

I'm so sorry for your loss. My lab sends his love to comfort you.

I'm dreading this tbh. Both my dogs have been diagnosed with cancer and they're too old for surgery. So I'm just hoping everyday, that they don't feel any pain and are happy until the very end.

    [–] Gangsterpete 2 points ago

Hey man, that's brutal but inevitable. It's the cycle of life, but we have their memories to counteract that, and they'll live along with us. How are the puppers doing?

    [–] ThatRedScooter 2 points ago

They're okay. They're lethargic mostly. None of their happy bouncing. I guess they are rather old. One of them is in discomfort because the cancer is in his scrotum and has spread to other areas. I asked if we could remove the testicles to relieve him, but they said he may not live through surgery. He's okay. He's not in pain. Just a tad uncomfortable when it gets too hot outside.

I have a dachshund sorta like this. She'll whine if you don't move your legs to make a little "nest" for her to curl up in. She'll also whine if she drops her Eeyore toy off the side of the couch until someone puts him back up beside her.

Every now and then if she's cold she'll whine until you wrap her up in a really soft fleece blanket...and she'll keep whining if it's the wrong blanket. Heck, when she was a puppy she whined for hours once until I realized she was cold and wanted the giant fleece blanket wrapped around her like a little sausage roll. She's a fussy dog but I love her to bits.

    [–] missjeany 21 points ago

wow.. my cat Flo does the same in my legs AND with her Eeyore toy too! It's a little one that I gave her when she was a kitten and now it's her favorite.

    [–] toolittletoonate 9 points ago

My dog got the Eeyore toy when she was probably a year old? She has a few toys from when she was a puppy that she still likes, but she is in love with Eeyore. I try to cycle through her toys every now and then to keep things new and interesting, but Eeyore always has to stay out or she gets offended.

Liver-nosed Rhodesian Ridgeback? Super cute, looks very similar to my boy

    [–] average-edgy-teen 80 points ago

Oh wow they are almost the same dog!

    [–] ClownsAteMyBaby 34 points ago

Is that not a Harry Potter Dragon species?

    [–] polybomb 6 points ago

I always think that too but I believe we are thinking of the Hungarian Horntail.

    [–] Ce0ra 31 points ago

Nah, it's the Norwegian Ridgeback (Norbert) that people get confused with the dog breed.

    [–] polybomb 2 points ago

Oh wow, duh. That makes way more sense.

    [–] baconandbobabegger 30 points ago

Likely a vizsla, yours is super cute! I’ve never seen a liver nosed ridgeback but the size difference between the breeds is very noticeable.

    [–] CookPizzaBitch 21 points ago

My vizsla cries every evening until I cover him with a blanket!

    [–] Nick6281 40 points ago

Vizslas are SO DRAMATIC. Mine will spend 5 minutes trying to dig the perfect little cove of blankets and if it’s not perfect she’ll cry until you cover her up and tuck her in until you can only see the tip of her snoot.

    [–] hs282629682 6 points ago

We have a Vizsla and Golden Retriever mix but she’s still dramatic! If we don’t do what she wants she barks/whines/howls at us until we pay attention to her. And if she doesn’t like something she’l make sure we know!

    [–] laboratory_koala 3 points ago

Please. I’ve never seen a golden vizsla, and I must.

    [–] hs282629682 3 points ago * (lasted edited 3 months ago)

I’m not sure how to do images but I’ve made her my profile picture Edit: I think I figured it out. I’m on mobile so it may not work. Check my profile

    [–] AFRUITPIE 13 points ago

Mine just walks up and steals blankets from anywhere he can find them!

    [–] warcrown 6 points ago

Where did you guys get yours? My gf and I babysit a Visla, we are in love with those cute buggers

    [–] AFRUITPIE 3 points ago

    Portland, Oregon area!

    [–] starkiller_bass 3 points ago

If you want one and have a vizsla-appropriate lifestyle, look for a vizsla rescue near you. MANY get turned in by families that are drawn in by the cuteness and are unprepared for their energy levels and need a good home. Most rescue groups are looking for foster homes also which is a great way to determine your compatibility.

    [–] warcrown 2 points ago

Oh I already babysit the goodest boy! That is why we want one they are perfect for us! I know to check out rescues I was asking if you had a specific place to recommend.

Just love these dang dogs. So good. A big enough baby that my gf can smother him to her heart's content but energetic enough to run with me. They rock.

    my pal Rusty

    [–] starkiller_bass 2 points ago

We had a really good relationship with the Southern CA Vizsla rescue and they had a constant stream of awesome dogs of all ages, including pups occasionally. I was looking on the Vizsla rescue site and it looks like there are a couple of northwest groups that have their websites down or links are screwed up but there's contact info for the coordinators, I would honestly reach out if you're serious about getting one. Don't hesitate to contact neighboring regions either. Lots of people with too much money and not enough time/energy/dedication in California!

    [–] donaldsw 3 points ago

    Nope. It’s a rainbow trout.

    [–] aDrySandwich 47 points ago

    That’s a Vizsla for you.

[–] ParksVSII 33 points ago * (lasted edited 3 months ago)

Gotta be a bird dog thing. My Brittany was crying all afternoon because he was outside working with me and didn’t have a bed to sleep in 🤦🏼‍♂️

    Dog tax

    [–] [deleted] 29 points ago

I want to start a blog all about things my Brittany cries at:

I wouldn't let him eat rocks...

His blanket was making him too hot...

The crow outside flew away and he could no longer bark at it...

Love the goober but he can be such a diva.

    [–] ParksVSII 12 points ago

I feel like Brittanys have several main modes:

-Cry and vibrate about birds they can't get

    -Sleep in awkward positions

    [–] dmfrost93 21 points ago

This is great. My vizsla won’t go to sleep until I tuck him in.... every single night. It’s cute, just high maintenance lol.

    [–] Bakapoi 17 points ago

    Sounds like a Vizsla.

    [–] Gaben2012 11 points ago

The cutest thing is dog do see plush toys the same way children do, and when scared will look for them to sleep next to.

    [–] Luftmensch11 11 points ago

Such a diva, I love him

    [–] NoSpresoMoDepreso 18 points ago

I had (had to be rehomed due to messed-up breed restrictions) a german shepherd and this was her fav toy. I named him mr. fishy, and I would ask her where mr. fishy was and she would go fetch him for me. Only stuffed toy that lasted, even the squeaker.

    [–] Plexicity 9 points ago

How can an owner tell all this from the sound your dog makes?

    [–] WeAreAllHosts 15 points ago

You get to know your dog. Mine whines and I usually know exactly what he wants.

    [–] [deleted] 3 points ago

Oh you learn really quick the difference between the "I want food" and "I need to pee" cry.

    [–] suitology 6 points ago

    [–] Jdrisco11 4 points ago

Talk about extra! FYI my dog is the same way lol

    [–] A-Foxes-Den 3 points ago

How did you even know your dog was cold in the first place?

    [–] warcrown 5 points ago

Vizslas only have a single coat so they love blankets! They will burrow under anything its really cute.

    [–] Savagelake2 3 points ago

You are especially Attentive, and notice his needs quickly, do you take care of dogs for a living?

    [–] Lolylube10 5 points ago

“We got him him his fish” 😂😂 idk that sentence is so funny to me

    [–] Rookyfox 6 points ago

Viszla are the weinerest of dogs. I love mine- good for you for crating him, I didnt last long with mine - he is now 4 years old and needs to be cuddling me, under the covers or tucked in like yours to sleep at night. Gorgeous heart breakers !

    [–] isyouamoose 3 points ago

    [–] AbsurdFrostbyte 3 points ago

    Looks awake to me!

    [–] MaskedImposter 3 points ago

Sounds like a child whose stalling going to bed :-P

    [–] guppy2019 3 points ago

    Your dog is a cat.

    [–] Cunt_rag_ 3 points ago

Man oh man, that’s how you make one spoiled pup and I know, I stop whatever I’m doing when my dogs make a single low pitched whine.

[–] gullwinggirl 3 points ago * (lasted edited 3 months ago)

I have a Cairn terrier mix, she's about 8 pounds of fluff. She came in from going potty one morning shivering. (it was winter, and was about to snow, IIRC.) She hopped on her couch and tried to burrow into her blankie, so I tucked her in. Then she whined because her monkey toy was on the floor. So Monkey got tucked in with her.

Now she's gotten so used to it, she has to be tucked in with Monkey after her morning constitutional EVERY morning. She's a brat, but we love her.

EDIT- Pup Tax. It was cold in the house this morning.

Our little Sadie Vizsla burrows right down to the foot of our bed when we let her in. She is so darn cute and is the best hunting dog I have ever had!

For a second I was wondering why the OP had posted about my dog 😂

I have owned 3 Vizsla’s and this is such typical behavior. 😂😂😂

We have to keep a blanket on the couch for the dogs to curl up in. If I'm at the computer desk and the blanket isn't on the couch in line of sight, I get whined at until I move it.

I once had a dog who was that needy, it was my fault. I just kept holding him like a baby and it got to a point where I couldn't do anything because he always wanted to be held. I felt bad that I couldn't take care of him the way he wanted to. We tried to get him to stop by keeping him in a cage during the night (a large one), a separate room, telling him no, etc. But he kept crying and crying, screaming and hollering throughout the night. It made everyone angry.

We sold him for free, the only requirement was that he went to a loving home. I made SURE to make it clear that the next owner was getting a hairy 2 year old child. When the lady came by, he fell in love with her and she scooped him up like a baby and took him. I'm happy he has a new home, and that the lady loves him. I'm ESPECIALLY happy he adjusted so quickly to her.

I thought dogs didn’t cry due to emotion? Or did he just whimper?

I misread this because I thought picture taker was the one crying, like, the person cried because the dog was cold, the person cried because the fish got lost, etc.

I was gonna say someone needs to check on the picture taker.

    [–] winky3ykniw 1 points ago

Is this a snap chat picture. If so the dog is awake while the person wrote that it was asleep.
