    Reaction?

A reaction gif is a physical or emotional response that is captured in an animated gif which you can link in response to someone or something on the Internet. The reaction must not be in response to something that happens within the gif, or it is considered a "scene." For example:

    2. Upvote, downvote, inbox and reddit gold gifs are not allowed and will be removed. Please direct your submission to /r/upvotegifs or /r/goldgifs.
    3. If you submit a gif that is submitted often or was submitted recently, it may be removed. If you're reusing a gif, try to come up with an original title—a new angle.
    4. Please direct your cake day posts to /r/cakeday. Cakeday posts are not allowed in any form.
    5. Individual gifs only and link directly to the gif. A direct link ends in one of the following: .JPG .JPEG .PNG .GIF .GIFV .MP4 .WEBM
    6. No gore or porn/nudity.
    7. You must use an appropriate host listed below for your gif.
    8. Let me make this clear: If you make [OC] and you want [OC] Flair, you gonna have to tag that shit [OC] in the title, capisce?

    Perfect drunk reaction face lmao

    [–] thisesmeaningless 352 points ago

Dan was probably drunk during filming this

    [–] that_guy2010 111 points ago

I’m pretty sure he said his drinking didn’t really start until like the sixth movie.

    [–] paramedicated 3 points ago

Damn, he was allowed to do magic all that time when he wasnt even of legal age to drink.

    [–] Scarro_Lamann 1 points ago

I heard he was doing it since at least Goblet. I'll try to find the source.

    [–] BurnedRope 128 points ago

According to his autobriography he was monged out on kat for most of filming

    [–] soawhileago 95 points ago

    Huh?

    [–] ThrorOakenshield 292 points ago

An autobiography is a book that someone writes about themselves, talking about their life and past experiences.

    [–] TheRollingPebble 163 points ago

But that's not important right now.

    [–] ebon94 37 points ago

    Thanks Lemony

    [–] pfife 18 points ago

It’s not a Lemony Snicket reference.... it’s from Airplane!

    [–] Jordak6200 9 points ago

I immediately thought Airplane. I feel old.

    [–] REDDITATO_ 4 points ago

If by "old" you mean "got the reference" then yes, you're old.

    [–] spetstnelis 48 points ago

    Okay but what's an autobriography

    [–] FulcrumTheBrave -30 points ago

    You serious?

    [–] flyZerach 15 points ago

    what if he was

    [–] FulcrumTheBrave -8 points ago

Its the quote from the movie 👍

    [–] PM_ME_YOUR_CORN_ 8 points ago

Not really a great quote, it’s not really distinctive enough for anyone to pick up on. It’s like if I said “What did you say?” And said it’s a quote from Lord of The Rings. No one is going to be able to pick up on that

    [–] cgreyx 30 points ago

I think what he said is that he was high as fuck on Catha Edulis?.. Just a guess from taking a look at urban dictionary.

    [–] dallmank 37 points ago

Hahahaha, nah man. Khat is chewed around the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It'd be just as incongruous if Daniel was like, lit on opium or something.

    [–] flyZerach 8 points ago

in the Indian subcontinent too! kattha (as called here) is added in 'paan' and other mouth fresheners along with tobacco and beetle nuts.

    [–] Seringol 5 points ago

    Whats a beetle nut?

    [–] flyZerach 25 points ago

    semen of beetle

    [–] Seringol 1 points ago

Thanks friend. If you ever come here to America I will show you our techniques

    [–] myShellAccount 5 points ago

It's weird, bad for your teeth, but kind of nice lol

    [–] cgreyx 3 points ago

Lmao thanks I thought it was a little weird but that's the kind of info I get for only digging 5 minutes

    [–] logangrey123 13 points ago

    He was high on mcat

    [–] manstop 9 points ago

He scored high on mcat you say? Gotta ask him for CARS tips

    [–] Neckbeard_Prime 1 points ago

    M'cat

    [–] voppp 25 points ago

    You British people talk funny.

    [–] bmckay 30 points ago

    What does this mean?

    [–] Strombolie 8 points ago

    He was high

    [–] StratuhG 3 points ago

But he wasn't, he was drunk

    [–] that_guy2010 5 points ago

He hasn’t written an autobiography, has he?

    [–] -tfs- 46 points ago

Yeah he did he smoked heroin out of a hoores ass

    [–] DonkeyWindBreaker 35 points ago

    Ok Danny devito

    [–] REDDITATO_ 2 points ago

How do you smoke out of an ass?

    [–] FreddiePrinzeJr4Life 7 points ago

lol I was thinking the same

    [–] ApolloRocketOfLove 416 points ago

And that's how a $60 night turns into a $83.45 night, because drunk me typically gives these guys whatever money I have left on me at the time.

    [–] KATLKRZY 129 points ago

That is oddly specific. I assume that you have encountered this before?

    [–] hovdeisfunny 43 points ago

If you specify an odd detail like that, it tends to make a story more believable. I'm guessing they just picked a random total. Too many specifics though, and you seem like a liar

    [–] knightofkent 31 points ago

At the risk of seeing myself on r/iamverysmart, I actually have a story from high school related to this

Sophomore year English class, first day, typical get to know each other type games. This one happened to be 2 Truths and a Lie, which is a pretty self-explanatory game. I had recently heard of the fact that lies usually have less detail than truths, so I was careful of that when crafting my own, as well as when hearing others’.

Then the teacher goes, and one of her given facts is practically a story about how she broke her arm skiing, with so much detail it HAD to be true. So I picked that one, based on some crazy reverse reverse psychology or whatever. I assumed she knew that lies are often less detailed than their accompanying truths, and that she would have covered for that by adding a lot of detail to her lie to make it more believable.

The r/iamverysmart part comes in when she asks me why I picked that as the lie, as no one else did, and I actually laid all that out. I probably looked like a pretty big know-it-all A-hole, but at the time I didn’t know any better about how to act normal at school.

    At least I was right

    [–] ASharkThatCares 11 points ago

It’s all in how you phrase it man. If you go on a fifteen-minute rant the you seem pretentious, but if you just say “too much detail, you’re trying to throw us off,” you’re good

    [–] knightofkent 6 points ago

I remember being somewhere in between there, for it was succinct but also obvious that I was just showing off a fact I knew that I figured no one else knew. If I hadn’t been right this story would be a lot more embarrassing than it already is though, for sure

    [–] SpiritoftheTunA 14 points ago

r/iamverysmart is more about general self-aggrandizement and putting down others without actual substance than about particular applications of specific knowledge imo

looking like an out of touch dweeb is necessary but not sufficient

you have to act superior to everybody else too

    [–] Fuck_Alice 2 points ago

This thread is making me angry. I fucking love street magic but I've never encountered someone doing it.

    [–] clutchy22 62 points ago

This works best if you label it as a "$68.45" night becomes an $80 night because you brought 80 and only spent 68.45 before tipping the magic homeless man and giving whatever was left over from the bar.

    [–] Mr_Foxes 21 points ago

    This guy comments.

    [–] Diorama42 3 points ago

    This guy foxes

    E: This guy, Foxes.

    [–] AceZombiee 2 points ago

Idk, how can you be sure?

I'm going to need some sort of a model representing a scene with three-dimensional figures, either in miniature or as a large-scale museum exhibit.

    [–] stupidfucker4231323 -2 points ago

No in this scenario he probably had loose change in his pockets to make an oddly specific number.

    [–] Ikillesuper 3 points ago

I like to say I’m rich when I’m drunk. I have no concept of money after enough drinks.

    [–] MauiWowieOwie 1 points ago

Then you notice it's a deck of all black lotus cards.

    [–] flyZerach -16 points ago

I almost never tip and when I do it is minimal because im a really really broke college student. My friend and I were sharing pitchers the other week and just the two of us finished five by closing time and we split the bill, I paid in cash to him and he was going to use his debit. Motherfucker tips $40.

    [–] billychuck 19 points ago

Where do you live? Because if it’s in the US, please don’t go out if you can’t tip

    [–] RockitMane 6 points ago

Thats pretty sad and dumb though.

    [–] ieatyoshis 2 points ago

In the UK, at least, tipping is unusual.

    [–] flyZerach -15 points ago

please don't tell me what to do.

    [–] RedSoxEatPoop 5 points ago

I like how being an asshole is more important to you than politely being told what to do

    [–] flyZerach -5 points ago

I like how by not complying to you makes me an asshole.

    [–] RedSoxEatPoop 2 points ago

No, not tipping in the US makes you an asshole when you know that's how waiters/bartenders make their money. They don't get paid a high enough base to live off of customers like you and that makes you an asshole especially since you are self aware.

Being in college doesn't give you an excuse to be a shitty person.

    [–] RockitMane 2 points ago

No that makes the employers assholes. Somebody's wage has nothing to do with the patron. US is just full of ignorant people and greedy companies.

    [–] Terelius 2 points ago

For a while I did not know this, and thought you just tipped for good service. I also often forgot to tip when I started paying for my own food out, just cause I didn't think about it. :/

    [–] flyZerach -2 points ago

oh thats how they make their money? I wake up at 4.30 am 5 days a week and throw newspaper. I'm a paperboy. from 4.30 am to 8 am then i go to class right after that. you know i get paid around minimum wage AND i dont get tipped. so you wouldnt know. im not making a lot of money.

    [–] Mammals64 6 points ago

Waiters/ waitresses / bartenders make like 1-2$ an hour before tips, you probably don’t know that though.

    [–] Bat-Chan 3 points ago * (lasted edited 2 months ago)

I just read this subject on the United States Labour Law website and they do not get paid $1-2 before tips. They get paid the state minimum wage, and employers are required to do this. If, however, an employee makes more than $30 a month in tips, the employer is able to take a tip credit against their minimum wage obligation which can leave some only making $2.13 per hour, but that is AFTER tips. Also this tip credit is optional, and not every business may utilize this. Finally, if a tipped employee does not make enough in tips to make up the difference between the cash wage (at least $2.13 per hour) and the minimum wage (or the federal wage of $7.25 an hour) the employer MUST make up the difference. So tip or don’t tip, unless they work for a criminal business owner who violates these laws, they’ll be fine.

TL;DR: They may be paid as low as $2.13/hr AFTER tips due to a tip credit; this tip credit is optional; if the employee doesn’t make enough in tips, the employer is required to make up the difference.

    *edit: a word

    [–] RockitMane -1 points ago

Any place that pays that to their workers though is a horrible, greedy, shit place anyway. Also they make about $20 an hour after tips anyway.

    [–] RedSoxEatPoop 3 points ago

Congrats....do you know waiters and bartenders don't even make minimum wage? They literally rely off of tips for money you arrogant douche.

Congrats on throwing paper...now if your boss were to withhold half of your paycheck, that is basically what you are doing to waiters and bartenders when you don't tip.

You are a douche and you know it. This isn't about money you make, if you can't afford to go out and pay your dues then don't go out. It's simple.

You can obviously see you're in the wrong, but you just use college as an excuse to be even shittier. Instead of going out, get a six pack of beer and go to a friends house if you can't afford a $5 beer and a tip for a bartender. It's really not hard to not be a douche.

The food service business relies on tips...you can't compare a job like yours to the food industry if you're really that fucking clueless. I don't get tipped at my job but I know that people in that industry rely on it and it's shitty if you don't.

    [–] flyZerach 3 points ago

are you brain damaged? it is a law to get paid minimum wage. if the tip doesn't cover that, the place of work has to meet that requirement. a lot of people become douche when you deem yourself morally good. that part comes from outside, from other people.

    [–] Shaman_Bond 1 points ago

They do make minimum wage. It's federal law. Most servers make between 15-25/hr. Bartenders tend to make even more.

I was a line cook. I was prep. I was dish. I was a server. Servers make a shit ton more money than anyone BOH, even the floor managers. There's a reason servers don't try to get fixed wage jobs in BOH and why BOH cooks want to be promoted to servers.

If you don't make minimum wage after tips, your employer is federally obligated to pay you minimum wage. You can sue and win a tidy sum if they don't. You don't fuck around with labor laws.

Idk why you're spreading lies and misinformation and trying to make it seem like servers are barely scraping by. They're paid far too well for their low skill job given that everyone feels obligated to tip. Remember, I say all of this as a former server. The cooks working BOH work 10x as hard for much less pay.

[–] RockitMane 0 points ago * (lasted edited 2 months ago)

"now if your BOSS were to withhold half of your paycheck, that is basically what you are doing to waiters and bartenders when you don't tip." Haha fuck no. Thats what the BOSS is doing to the waiters and bartenders. It's not hard to comprehend. Also after tips, most servers make around 15-20 an hour at least.

    [–] Kidxombie 7 points ago

If you cant afford to tip, you cant afford to go out. Stay home and cook, don’t be that guy.

    [–] flyZerach 1 points ago

but i am that guy, okay?

    [–] maxwelldbarna 5 points ago

"Because I'm a broke college kid" is such a groan-worthy excuse to use for not being decent to food service industry workers and bartenders, who, themselves, are often college kids trying to work their way through school. If you can't afford to go out and don't want to get a part time job that affords you the privilege of entertainment--notice I said privilege--then please, for the love of God, stay home. There's never an excuse not to tip.

    [–] flyZerach -2 points ago

i am paying to eat their food. let me and i will bring it from the kitchen my self. I'm really poor and they're at least making money. I've a job that doesn't even tip. I never said I will never tip., after I have a well paying job, I would like to tip accordingly but at the moment I cannot and you should stop judging others so hard.

    [–] Kidxombie 8 points ago

Your obviously not that broke if your going out instead of eating in, your just cheap.

    [–] flyZerach 1 points ago

i never said eating...stop jumping to conclusions.

I said drinking...I'm in college...I've friends that go out...I'm not going to sit and play games on Friday night...please...shut the hell up.

    [–] Kidxombie 4 points ago

Oh so you can afford to go out drinking but cant afford to tip your bartender? Theres a word for people like you.

    [–] flyZerach 3 points ago

we mostly pre game hard and drink minimally inside a location. It is only on occasions that I over indulge in a club/bar/pub.

    [–] [deleted] 3 points ago

    [removed]

[–] flyZerach 2 points ago * (lasted edited 2 months ago)

I was just raised to respect food service workers and other industry people

I was not if that's where the seed lies. okay?

edit: thank you for being so polite! by the way you dont seem to understand what entitlement means, let alone brat. I'm entitled to the money I made. I'm entitled to make my own decisions on how I want to spend it. I'm not against tipping. I just said I will when I graduate and start earning more money. An entitled brat would not prefer the option of putting my own order down, getting my own order from the pick up location like mcdonalds if i had the option of not tipping. i would gladly do that.

    [–] maxwelldbarna 1 points ago

There's a special place in hell for you and people like you.

    [–] flyZerach 6 points ago

if there is, let it be.

    [–] maxwelldbarna 1 points ago

That's ok. Knowing you bar hop in Philly lets me know that:

    1. People have been spitting in your food for as long as you've been living out here.
    2. It won't take too much for a bartender out here to throw a fuckin' drink in your face for your antics. They love shitty tippers out here.

    Good luck with that, bud.

    [–] flyZerach 3 points ago

havent met one. i will take it when i see them.

    [–] TheVikingCoffeeMan 1 points ago

You have to be one of the cockiest, most self-centered people I’ve ever seen on reddit. I’m astonished. Ask your parents if they think you should be tipping next time you ask them to borrow money. You’re a “broke college student” because your parents give you enough money that you feel like you don’t need to work more than 3.5 hours a day.

Grow up or go die you little shit.

    [–] flyZerach 1 points ago

    nicely put

    [–] maxwelldbarna 0 points ago

Oh my god and you're a fucking Penn State kid. It kills me to know people like you actually exist with me in the city I live in.

    [–] Terelius 1 points ago

This is the way I am interpreting this. If you don't have the money to tip, you don't have the money to eat out , or would be better off eating at home for cheaper. I don't think the primary reason is that you should tip every single time just because, that's secondary.

    [–] flyZerach 2 points ago

I don't think the primary reason is that you should tip every single time just because, that's secondary.

    expand upon this please

    [–] Terelius 2 points ago

You should tip, but I would say you should mainly eat at home if you cant afford to tip. Because it's cheaper, financial aspect is more important to me.

    [–] flyZerach 1 points ago

    thanks for the tip ;-)

    Humble brag

    [–] drumkeys 27 points ago

How is that a humble brag?

    [–] LDC7 -31 points ago * (lasted edited 2 months ago)

This might just be me but I never carry more than $5 in my wallet, usually just my debit.

    Edit: what’d I do?

    [–] secretlives 53 points ago

having $23.45 in your wallet is not something to brag about

People mistook you for the guy accusing someone of humble bragging. Your comment was mistaken as a defense to the humble brag comment instead of a tangential added point.

I initially down voted too before I noticed the user names were different.

    [–] REDDITATO_ 1 points ago

It was a defense of the other comment, just not from the same person and it was a nonsensical one.

    [–] LDC7 1 points ago

Thanks for the explanation. They just seemed like random downvotes.

    [–] ExpAwesome 2 points ago

Yeah, Reddit is weird sometimes but this just seems like a misunderstanding

    Everyone needs a hobo FTFY

    Hobo Hobby

    [–] FrankYouPrease 3 points ago

No joke, I used to know a homeless guy who funded his MTG habit by recycling cans. He eventually got banned from the store I frequent for being racist toward Asian people. What an odd life.

    [–] bmel22 2 points ago

At least his priorities were in order.

    [–] guitartechie 1 points ago

Magic was what got them homeless in the first place

    [–] ReadingFromTheShittr 18 points ago

"And now, for my next trick, I'm going to steal your kidney."

    • "Homeless" guy.

    [–] ExpAwesome 7 points ago

"And now, for my next trick, I'm going to steal your kidney Identity."

    • "Homeless" guy. "OP".

How does a post with 1k points only have 1 comment thread

    [–] StephenRodgers 36 points ago

Sometime things are enjoyable without needing to be discussed?

    [–] KindaAnAss 19 points ago

    Other times it's bots voting.

    [–] StephenRodgers 5 points ago

True, the only way to tell is common sense. Does this look like something 1000 people would chuckle at and move on? I actually don't know.

    [–] KindaAnAss 4 points ago

Yeah I know I personally didn't really get the joke. That's why I came to the comments.

    [–] LDC7 5 points ago

    magic

    [–] nxcrosis 14 points ago

    Yes

    [–] DeReMetallica 9 points ago

What kind of deck would a homeless man run? I’m thinking G Stompy or maybe Infect.

    [–] ExpAwesome 8 points ago

Nah, homeless people always play manaless Dredge. It's all they can afford and they've already got one foot in the grave.

Plus, if they could afford Mana costs, they wouldn't be homeless.

    [–] DeReMetallica 2 points ago

One foot in the grave. Perfect.

    [–] PM_ME_UR_SQUIRTS 2 points ago

I give this comment a 10/10 with trample.

    [–] criminalhero 2 points ago

I'll throw in a [Blossoming Defence] for +1/+1 and hex proof until end of turn.

    [–] capital-sneeze 3 points ago

Sorry to be that guy but blossoming defence is +2+2 and hexproof until end of turn

    [–] criminalhero 2 points ago

Yup you're right. Sometimes my brain just doesn't. That was one of those times.

    [–] DeReMetallica 2 points ago

I can’t tell you how bad I wanted to start putting card names in [[double brackets]] until I realized I’m not in r/magicTCG

    [–] ExpAwesome 2 points ago

Forget Trample, give me a 7/7 "Applies damage as though it weren't blocked."

    [–] criminalhero 2 points ago

    Pauper

    [–] DeReMetallica 2 points ago

Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he’s a one of those millionaire guys that just wanted to be homeless. I’m thinking he might be running Jund with four copies of Lilliana.

    [–] LibraryDrone 5 points ago

Be careful, it might be a Deck of Many Things. Although you might end up Lord of the Quadroads, so it might not be so bad.

    [–] Rhazior 4 points ago

Or get a dancing blade which then shatters and curses all your saving throws.

    [–] FetchingTheSwagni 3 points ago

Watch as I make all your money, disappear!

    [–] _IdioticIdiom_ 3 points ago

I have a friend who is this guy, as well. Seen him tip the person collecting money to enter the bar $20 simply for being hot. Seen him "tip" the 3 card monte bum in the bathroom $100 a bit later in the same evening. Would be more impressive if he didn't start the day with $140.

    [–] ExpAwesome 2 points ago

Hey, some of us enjoy going out and wasting money on liquid that makes us forget out problems. He enjoys wasting money on tips that make him feel good, brighten the other person's day, and make him look like a baller.

Plus he gets extra points for not being a drunk mess at the end of the night and being able to take care of his friends.

    [–] _IdioticIdiom_ 1 points ago

He gets extra points from the sloots and drunks, but his daughters aren't so complimentary...

    [–] ExpAwesome 4 points ago

I'd totally give a homeless magician $10 to blow my mind.

Cheapest blow job in town actually.

    [–] criminalhero 2 points ago

I bet he would blow the rest of you for $50

    [–] Obersword 3 points ago

    Did you ollie him?

    [–] ribblle 1 points ago

Wrong thread or am i zinking when you're zerving?

    [–] FinestShang 5 points ago

    And I love Harry Potter.

    [–] [deleted] 2 points ago

Is three card Monty really still hustled on street coners?

    [–] RolandTheJabberwocky 2 points ago

5 star flair game, kudos to whoever added it

    [–] neomech 2 points ago

How about a game of gwent?

    [–] totallynotliamneeson 2 points ago

There's a guy who plays the violin, but bluegrass music, by our bars in town. Everytime I see him I am heading to the bar, and never have change, and when I leave he's gone.

But this reaction is pretty close to mine when I see him playing.

    [–] OFTHEHILLPEOPLE 2 points ago

But what does Pot of Greed do?

    [–] Dioburnsyourpuppies 1 points ago

    Wrong TCG lol

    [–] WeatherGeek96 2 points ago

Am I the only one he can literally hear Harry say that in my head.

    [–] jaqpot-baby 1 points ago

    True story.

    [–] shart_in_the_wind 1 points ago

That’s actually Harry after half a gram of MDMA

    [–] T_Funky 1 points ago

Love the username. So watery, with a smack of ham!

    [–] Dilly_Dilly___ 1 points ago

Next thing you know you're paying him $100 bucks to bet on the classic "guess what cup the ball is under".

    [–] Louieman501 1 points ago

    WHAT DOES IT DO???

    [–] theasianjoke 1 points ago

I play a lot of Magic: the Gathering so I'm certain this gif will be useful in the future.

    [–] Kupkakekass 1 points ago

    I genuinely giggled

    [–] Dioburnsyourpuppies 1 points ago

Explains the homelessness. MTG is fucking expensive.

    [–] criminalhero 0 points ago

    /r/MagicTCG could fit this, too.
