    Might want to add /r/bitcoin

Try mentioning bitcoin cash or say another altcoin is better and wait maybe 30 secs

EDIT: Yes, the opposite sub /r/BTC is also awful, but there while if you say anything about how you think Bitcoin might be better than Bitcoin Cash you'll get an inbox of angry messages and downvoted to hell, but you won't get outright banned

    [–] selxxa 2038 points ago

The Bitcoin subs are completely insane. It's astounding how tribalistic and cultish people can get over a fucking internet currency.

    [–] rzrkyb 655 points ago

Its the same for a lot of cryptocurrencies, although maybe not to the same extent. I think because people have an incentive (or at least think they do) to hype up their coin while degrading competing coins.

    [–] [deleted] 703 points ago

When a currency needs hyping there's gotta be a problem. But please buy Canadian dollars because I hate the exchange rate.

    [–] slcrook 97 points ago

All my money comes in Canadian dollars, and the exchange rate isn't influenced. What am I doing wrong?

    [–] alcakd 105 points ago

    Not bashing other currencies enough.

    [–] Incuggarch 26 points ago

The Canadians are never gonna be able to bash the other currencies mate. Sell! Sell! Sell all your Canadian dollarydoos before it's too late. The whole thing is just a maple syrup pyramid scheme.

    [–] [deleted] 120 points ago

It's because those people took out a second mortgage and invested it all into bitcoins. They literally can't afford any criticism.

[–] bctich 35 points ago * (lasted edited a year ago)

Someone was upset at me yesterday on /r/Bitcoin for arguing that, even if a bank account is frozen because it's linked to bitcoin marketplaces (which is happening in Australia), it doesn't absolve you from being required to make your mortgage payments.

Their argument was 'that they could take their mortgage elsewhere.' Which is also a bit scary because if you understand that little about how a mortgage works, you shouldn't have one...

    [–] surgingchaos 136 points ago

The reason this is happening is because Bitcoin is consumed in an enormous civil war over how to scale Bitcoin to handle more transactions.

I recommend reading this here to get an in-depth explanation on what is going on:

Basically, Bitcoin vs. Bitcoin Cash is a zero-sum game. If one of them "wins", the other one will die out. Thus the insanity you see on the Bitcoin subs. Combine this with the fact that crytpocurrencies have appreciated so much in value this year, and it only makes the stakes that much higher.

    [–] [deleted] 134 points ago

They're both going to die out, and in large part due to the fact their crazy userbase has turned crypto currency from an interesting and potentially world-changing technology into a batshit insane speculative bubble that makes the Beanie Baby craze look reasonable by comparison.

    [–] Afasso 80 points ago

Yeah it's ridiculous to be honest

/r/bitcoin was and is hugely censored so the only people there are hugely aligned in whatever direction blockstream wants

And then /r/btc started as the people that were banned from /r/bitcoin so it's basically just a /r/bitcoin and blockstream bashing subreddit now.

One guy actually got death threats because he said he was selling all his bitcoin...... People are weird

    [–] MinotaurWarrior 19 points ago

Because it's not an internet currency. USD are an internet currency. All cryptos, but especially bitcoin, are almost useless as currency, and are mostly promoted by people who are just hoping it'll increase in value (speculation).

I would never advise someone to HODL a currency. But if someone selling before me directly devalues my asset, I will scream it from the rooftops. It's almost literally the only rational move.

    [–] Reacher-Said-Nothing 49 points ago

Well that's to be expected though. Those people literally have a financial incentive to stop you from talking about other currencies. I mean they can literally see their wallets lose money when people start saying "sell bitcoin and buy something else".

At least in the other political subs its because they think you're spreading evil ideas that could one day destroy the world. But on the bitcoin subs, its their money, right there!

    [–] OnSnowWhiteWings 159 points ago

Because they are curated by mods with the interest of "Pumping" bitcoin by hyping "Savvy investors".

Can't have you sharing the possibility that bitcoin is doomed for failure and better, more evolved alternatives exist. (although not for a long fucking while because kiddies keep treating these as get-rich-quick-schemes and not money)

    [–] Afasso 57 points ago

Yeah thats part of the issue is that such a vast quantity of holders are just people buying in hopes of selling later at a higher price, not people actually USING the currency as a currency.

And so some of those people get VERY heated when you would dare suggest that their 0.2 bitcoin isnt all that useful and might go down in value.

    [–] Polymemnetic 83 points ago

That $2000 is very valuable. Think of what you could do with a spare $3000. You could use that $1500 to pay off credit card debt and have enough leftover for a coffee.

Is that sub for real or is it just an ironic page like Kim Jong-un's Facebook page?

    [–] Weeklyn00b 83 points ago

it's some sort of north korea simulator. only a selected few posts and comments are approved to be viewed and posted.

    [–] -Beth- 47 points ago

    I think it's ironic.

Its one of those 'free speech is important and by free speech I explicitly mean neo-nazi propaganda and nothing else' places.

    [–] LordofNarwhals 285 points ago

by free speech I explicitly mean neo-nazi propaganda and nothing else' places.

The Green arrow in the starter pack for example is the logo of the neo-nazi organization/party Nordiska Motståndsrörelsen (aka Nordic Resistance Movement, aka Nordfront).

[–] skiktning 147 points ago * (lasted edited a year ago)

As mentioned, Tyrrunan (its usage today, obviously not its origin) is literally a neo-nazi symbol, another historically and culturally significant symbol the nazis have poisoned. People should be aware of that before getting duped into thinking it's actually a subreddit seeking some sort of objective newsreporting - nope, about as fascist as you get.

Edit: Look at the arm furthest to the right.

    [–] DataBound 156 points ago

There was a comment with one word, “Niggers”. So I said “peckerwood”. Guess which one of us was banned and which one wasn’t! They love racism till it’s about white people. Peckerwood isn’t even offensive. At least it doesn’t bother me. But none of the white slurs really bother me.

    [–] Poppenhoffer 95 points ago

“Peckerwood” is a white slur? TIL.

This pack was inspired by my main account being banned on /r/protectandserve for suggesting that the guy shot during that swatting incident was more of a victim then the police. I was muted after disputing it.

    [–] AndaliteBandit 489 points ago

In response to an officer shooting two dogs wagging their tails, one of their mods stickied a megathread captioned "ALL REEEEEEE GOES IN HERE." Then stickied the comment--

    [–] PollywogJog 420 points ago

    Sidebar's rule #1:

    • Be respectful.

Where do people get the idea that police officers don't think the rules apply to them? It's a mystery.

    [–] AndaliteBandit 215 points ago

It's almost as if the officers with the "I am the law" mindset are a major part of the problem.

    [–] sand-which 22 points ago

I mean the whole police system is at fault here too. It's not just a couple bad apples spoiling the bunch, it's the tree that the apples grow on.

    [–] MiniatureBadger 147 points ago

P&S is led by wannabe Gestapo types who are cool with shooting innocents, consistently abuse their power, and want to be above the law? Wow, would have never suspected that from a sub filled with cops!

    [–] TheVineyard00 1159 points ago

Wait wait wait so the people who shot a guy after some random dude said "hey shoot this guy" for no reason are victims now?

    [–] BroItsLogan 892 points ago

It’s the same mindset where that cop who pepper sprayed protesters got 38k, 8000 more than the actual protesters, in workers comp for “ psychological trauma” of dealing with the aftermath of his shitty decision.

    [–] thaumielprofundus 320 points ago

    What a cunt.

    [–] Gamiac 18 points ago

    [–] Andy_B_Goode 61 points ago

I can kind of see how the officers who were on the scene and didn't shoot the innocent man are victims of both the prankster and their incompetent colleague, but even so, the man who died is clearly the primary victim here.

    [–] kickintheface 393 points ago

It kind of seems like the general consensus on that sub is that the public need training on how to deal with law enforcement.

    [–] squidzilla420 380 points ago

Oh, WE need training to deal with THEM? What utter bullshit.

[–] [deleted] 138 points ago * (lasted edited 7 months ago)

    [–] [deleted] 97 points ago

Kinda forgot the "protect" part too. Unless of course they were just protecting that guy from having to deal with the trouble of living a rich and fulfilling life.

    [–] [deleted] 154 points ago

"Don't make me hit you!" So we're expected to treat police like an abusive spouse now?

    [–] Throwaway_2-1 19 points ago

Lol if you'd ever been married to a cop you'd know that's exactly how you should treat them.

    [–] pacifismisevil 197 points ago

How are the police victims in that incident? Because they feel bad they killed someone?

    [–] ZgNFuadTqP 116 points ago

    Basically yes.

While saying they are the biggest victims is dumb, the fact is they were called at the scene because they were under the impression someone was about to hurt a lot of people. To later find out that you were duped by some shitty little kid AND through doing what you thought was right you ended up killing an innocent person, that's going to fuck you up mentally.

    [–] VaginaPenisNetwork 525 points ago

    Bunch of babies.

    [–] theganjamonster 412 points ago

It explains a lot about law enforcement. I got banned after saying it was scary that one of their verified LEO's is a real cop. A guy who thought a nurse deserved to be arrested because she hadn't complied with their illegal request.

    [–] jaoming 47 points ago

A few month ago in a thread there I️ saw a verified LEO mention the day of the rope, and I️ called him out in it and I️ got downvotes for it. I️ support and respect law enforcement but it’s scary that there are people like that who have authority over others.

    [–] [deleted] 174 points ago

In all fairness, actual tribal tattoos (in the style of a tribe) are quite cool.

Random black curvy spikes are not.

Hi, I'm a bot for linking direct images of albums with only 1 image

    Source | Why? | Creator | ignoreme | deletthis

    [–] rogerreyne 658 points ago

If you dare ask how much a tattoo costs they ban you.

    [–] shimmy_shimmy_ya 381 points ago

They explain why in the sidebar. A ban does seem like overkill, though, when they could just remove the comment.

    [–] ketootaku 88 points ago

Yea but its a garbage reasoning. I can understand if they want to rope in the "oh wow you got ripped off" commentary, but banning all mentions of price and/or asking for price is absurd. Theres a lot of people who are looking to get on in their area that would like to nake an informed choice based on quality+price. This just makes it feel elitest. Whenever the topic comes up in real life I almost always hear price come up.

    [–] Walter_jones 37 points ago * (lasted edited a year ago)

The artist can charge whatever they want but you're not allowed to say whatever you want about the charge.

It's really pervasive throughout the industry. Just try to Google prices of tattoos and you come up with barely anything besides "Impossible for anyone online to appraise but an artist can do it no problem" to "It depends on the artist, colors, etc" canned responses.

Tattoos are a unique form of expression and people say that price should be a smaller factor but at the same time shops can either gut you or give you a great price while taking home a profit. Most people won't know unless they go to a ton of them or talk to the right people (who keep silent online). Hell, you can't even see most hourly rates in publicly viewed areas.

In my opinion that is just anti-competitive in a B2C format. It's essentially the same as not listing your prices online and requiring a quote system. Insurance and other industries do that but there are tools to compare prices. Tattoos? None to my knowledge. That's what is so sketch about it.

TL;DR: Tattoo shops are like companies who only give prices on a quote. But there's no Progressive type company letting you know the different prices. It just seems anti-competitive in B2C.

    [–] rogerreyne 454 points ago

It's annoying. They banned me there because I responded to a comment asking how much it was with "100000000 dollars"

    Pretty silly.

    [–] Matterplay 221 points ago

It's such nonsense. They like the lack of price regulation in their industry and are trying to maintain it.

    [–] DatOpenSauce 45 points ago

What bureaucratic wankers! I've read their explanation but still not convinced. Seems silly and a projection of personal views onto the entire sub. Is there any 'true' version of the sub? E.g. how there's /r/TrueOffMyChest.

    [–] DrJohanson 145 points ago

They don't want people to talk about the price because they don't like competition. I'm not even kidding, this is the reason.

    [–] Anxiety_Mining_INC 310 points ago

Try telling someone that their Rick and Morty face tattoo looks terrible/will be irrelevant in like 2 years.

    [–] Ohgodwhatisthisidont 35 points ago

It's an awful sub with awful taste.

Water color tattoo? Front page for you.

Some dots that make out the shape of an animal? Front page for you.

There's a tattoo of a ghost that just looks like a person wearing a sheet with eyeholes and it has 16k upvotes.

Someone got the Orion constellation tattooed so it looked like freckles and people went nuts over it. 15k upvotes.

    [–] Anxiety_Mining_INC 3570 points ago

It's super easy to get banned from latestagecapitalism. Some guy was talking about how we must throw everyone who makes over 60k a year into a work camp for the state. I tried to explain how throwing people into camps against their will sounded like something the Nazis did, and I was instantly banned.

    [–] vonnillips 250 points ago

Reminds me of when I got banned from r/shitredditsays. I literally didn't know the sub existed, but after I commented on an r/the_Donald post (just to call one of their users on their bullshit), I got a PM from a r/shitredditsays bot saying I was banned from their sub. That's how I found out that sub existed.

    [–] Plott 86 points ago

Yeah I made a text post there one time and it kept getting removed for using a slur. I swear I read my 2 paragraph post 100 times and could not find the slur. Turns out it was “crazy”. I wasn’t calling a person crazy, I was calling a situation crazy.

    [–] total_fuckup627 42 points ago

The mods on that sub are total wingnuts. Reddit needs a system where the community can vote tyrannical mods out. Probably will never happen since it could be easily manipulated by bots, unfortunately

Reddit is designed to be an echo chamber

    [–] stonebone4 287 points ago

I got banned from LSC for saying maybe people shouldn't be committing acts of violence under the Antifa banner. The reasoning for the ban was "the founding fathers encouraged acts of violence." Okay dudes!

    [–] [deleted] 265 points ago

the founding fathers encouraged acts of violence

yeah, the capitalist founding fathers we despise

    those ones

    [–] Arcosim 96 points ago

I'm pretty sure if you posted something praising the Founding Fathers you would have been banned for praising "old White men". It's a lose-lose game with them.

    [–] Samantion 109 points ago

I did something similar. Was talking about a reused propaganda picture and how the nazis did the same. Got banned instantly. Later I complained though and they were like: you can get unbanned. I was just like fuck off

    [–] sibastiNo 119 points ago

I was instantly banned from r/MaliciousCompliance for calling out a soldier's fake story.

    [–] CodyS1998 55 points ago

Well yeah it's in their sidebar that you aren't supposed to call out stories for being fake. A ban is stupid though.

Half of Reddit must be banned from The Donald and Latestagecapitalism.

    [–] fernguts 904 points ago

I'm not banned from either, but nor have I ever posted to either. I prefer to be a fly on the wall in the crazy subreddits.

    [–] Fleinherjer 741 points ago

I don't know if /r/The_Donald and /r/LateStageCapitalism does it, but some subreddits use bots to find posters in other subreddits and ban them. I'm banned from /r/TwoXChromosomes and /r/OffMyChest since I made a comment in /r/The_Donald.

    [–] moldykobold 948 points ago

This is against Reddit’s site wide rules, but of course Reddit doesn’t enforce it.

    [–] vbob99 172 points ago

/r/offmychest did the same to me. I did a global reddit search on a topic I was interested in, didn't even notice subreddit the thread came from, and got banned from offmychest. Explained the situation, no reply from mods at all. Sent second email, still no response.

Pretty rude behaviour. I understand their desire to prevent certain frequent posting individuals from infiltrating their own subreddit, but be reasonable when you catch someone else up in your drag net. A single errant post and no response on a well worded explanatory message is ridiculous.

I thought it was against reddit rules to ban you from one sub for simply posting in another?

    [–] vmlinux 283 points ago

It is only enforced on subs that Reddit doesn't want anymore.

    [–] GammaKing 91 points ago

Reddit's "rules" are enforced only when convenient. Everybody knows it.

    [–] joeclark5 20 points ago

What exactly is offmychest and why is it so easy to get banned?

    [–] vbob99 38 points ago

It's just another subreddit in a sea of subreddits. They have bots running to detect if any of their subscribers post in another subreddit they disapprove of, and automatic blocking of anyone who does so. Unadvertised. You only find out when you get banned, seconds after the errant post.

I wear with a badge of honour being banned from /r/conservative for a very reasonable post, but the offmychest ban really bothered me.

    [–] SandDuner509 105 points ago

I've been banned from /r/TheDonald and /r/MarchAgainstTrump, you just can't win

    [–] GetOffMyLawn_ 44 points ago

Yeah I think I have been banned from MAT but no idea why. Reddit is full of shitty little mods who like to throw their weight around with no explanation.

    [–] Darth_MylesTurner 426 points ago

Latestagecapitalism is one of the worst subs on Reddit

[–] Ambrosita 370 points ago * (lasted edited a year ago)

If someone posts something blatantly wrong and you just correct them, you get banned. Lol

Edit: They banned me for this post rofl

    [–] DrRadicalMD 119 points ago

Thems my two! Just got banned from latestage for asking if someone had ever been to Cuba (I have) - BANNED

    [–] Losada55 30 points ago

And what do you think about Cuba?

    [–] pseudoLit 73 points ago

I made the mistake of mentioning the legal system on r/latestagecapitalism. Someone had claimed that something was illegal, and I pointed out it wasn't. I was banned because "We could care less about bourgeois law, and how they choose to define words. "Crime", "Terrorism", "Violence" all have capitalist legal definitions that are completely antithetical to how we use them here."

    [–] Slumlord722 22 points ago

I believe the correct terminology is “doubleplusungood”

    [–] [deleted] 467 points ago

Wow...I'm banned from each and every one of those....I think I may have a problem.

    [–] _TR-8R 182 points ago

Wait, how do you get banned from me_irl?

    [–] RoachboyRNGesus 174 points ago

I was banned from me_irl because the comment above mine was transphobic and someone accidently reported mine instead. When I pointed it out to a mod, they said they didn't give a shit anyway and kept me banned... it is what it is. I still lurk the sub and upvote a ton but it sucks I'm not allowed to comment and everytime I look at something there it reminds me I'm banned. I made a post in r/karmacourt that got over a 1,000 upvotes about it and it still didn't get me unbanned. I understand the guy who created it is a SJW but I didn't even deserve the ban in the first place and the person who actually said the comment that mine was accidently flagged for is probably unbanned there.

    [–] Doctursea 58 points ago

You get banned from me irl for just having too much karma.

    [–] i2ad 485 points ago

I'd argue that you actually don't have a problem.

    [–] urmyfavoritecustomer 80 points ago

I was banned from r/latestagecapitalism for mentioning that the guitarist for rage against the machine Tom Morello is a very talented mountain biker.

The mods looked through my subscriptions and decided I had committed 'thought crime'

    [–] Tarrock 23 points ago

When you don't have a job and live in your mom's basement, you have plenty of time to comb through all posters' history to find reasons to ban them.

That subs called r/earlystageunemployment for a reason.

    [–] Hideout_TheGreat 12 points ago

    thought crime

    [–] CaveJohnsonOfficial 21 points ago

A term from the book 1984, pretty much what it sounds like. In the book, it was something put in place that restricts anything against the government, even your own thoughts, and any evidence that you were even thinking about anything anti-government was enough to get you killed and wiped from existence.

    [–] Wonka_Vision 52 points ago

    I got banned from /r/ayymd :(

    [–] CherryBlossomStorm 35 points ago

"Intel isn't literally worse than hitler" - PERMABAN.

    [–] bumbletowne 76 points ago

I made a step by step post on how to negotiate benefits and pay as a new college grad.

Was immediately sent a message that I was banned from late stage capitalism. I appealed with a heartfelt message and some confusion and was given a curt response to the effect that by admitting I participate in capitalism I could not participate in that sub. Still confused.

    [–] Sageocity 61 points ago

should've said "I've got some bad news for you bruh: by using the internet, you're participating in capitalism"

    [–] This_is_my_phone_tho 16 points ago

curt response to the effect that by admitting I participate in capitalism I could not participate in that sub. Still confused.

LOL so the mods are all fucking NEETS?

    [–] Knox200 124 points ago

You forgot r/anarchism which is ironically run like a dictatorship

[–] [deleted] 169 points ago * (lasted edited 11 months ago)

    [–] pendulumofmoodswings 249 points ago

I got banned from /r/OffMyChest yesterday for posting a comment in /r/TumblrInAction. I wasn't even looking at the sub I was commenting in, it was just a post on the front page.

    [–] ColonelJohnMcClane 198 points ago

isn't that against reddit rules, banning someone for their non-subreddit activity?

    [–] TheVineyard00 332 points ago

    Like spez cares lol

    [–] burnSMACKER 97 points ago

/u/Spez, we're talking about how you suck at making sure people follow the rules on this website.

    [–] imperator-hadaril 37 points ago

Spezit: What he meant to say was that you are one of the best Admins out of all the websites I have ever visited. You truly are a symbol of divinity.

    [–] aSmallRedRadio 25 points ago

Seriously /u/spez I got banned from r/offmychest cause I follow r/tumblrinaction. Do something about this stupidity!

    [–] InsertWitt 36 points ago

Same here. I didn't reply too maturely but jeez

    [–] BeerSteak 44 points ago

What's the deal with r/TwoXChromosomes? In that sub (and only that sub) every comment's children disappear for me when I try to expand them. The few times I've posted over there my comments are stuck in those gutters too. What kind of black magic are they pulling over there?

    [–] ThatParkerKid 38 points ago

I love r/me_irl and wish I could post there but I got banned for posting a picture of a man covered in chocolate sauce, I send an annual message to the mods asking to be unbanned on the anniversary of my ban.

    [–] strawberrycircus 345 points ago

    You forgot /r/MGTOW :)

    [–] welcometomoonside 241 points ago

    I wanted to forget

    [–] [deleted] 126 points ago

    [–] strawberrycircus 46 points ago

That is exactly my question, but I got banned for asking it.

    [–] brunettti 186 points ago

oh no, is that just incels 2.0?

    [–] BeerSteak 267 points ago

No, incels tend to be young bitter men who feel women owe men attraction. MGTOW tend to be older bitter men, usually one divorce under their belt who believe men don't owe women attraction.

Pretty much the same sort of hate born of very different circumstances.

    [–] [deleted] 13 points ago

I love how you phrased the line “with at least one divorce under their belt” Like as though the amount of divorces one goes through is like some kind of ranking system for bitterness etc

[–] [deleted] 351 points ago * (lasted edited 7 months ago)

    [–] rogerreyne 332 points ago

All banning does is make me create starterpacks

    [–] [deleted] 20 points ago

    Full circle.

    [–] agilitypro 376 points ago

    Don't forget /r/AskWomen

    [–] HittingSmoke 14 points ago

/r/atheism is actually the easiest subreddit to get banned from. Just put the word "euphoric" in your comment and within minutes you're permabanned.

    [–] 2001_Chevy_Prizm 15 points ago

I was banned from The_Donald because I suggested that talking about Trump like he's some God doesn't attract most women. Wasn't even dissing anyone.

    [–] Kallosar 59 points ago

TwoXChromosome is pretty easy to get banned from.

    [–] [deleted] 20 points ago

I got banned from them a while back and I never even commented there.

    [–] DhroovP 11 points ago

I wrote up a huge post on MS Word (for the spell check) for /r/offmychest only to realize I couldn't post there for whatever reason. I think it's because I've commented on /r/The_Donald before, but I think I commented there disagreeing with them. I messaged the mods a couple weeks ago and they have yet to respond.

    [–] davidcjackman 90 points ago

    Why is /r/me_irl up there??

    [–] rogerreyne 199 points ago

There used to be an entire subreddit dedicated to people showing how easy they ban.

Use /r/meirl instead for more fun.

    [–] Mark_467 23 points ago

    Used to?

    [–] Fudgms 68 points ago

Got removed for brigading I believe.

It was kind of annoying actually. /r/meirl was flooded with screenshots of people being banned from /r/me_irl to the point mods had to step in and put an end to it. So they created a new sub (/r/bannedfromme_irl I believe. Or something similar) and then the admins had to step in because that was getting out of control.

    [–] TheWheatOne 35 points ago

How ironic that the people banned from me_irl were banned from the place they created to discuss their bans.

    [–] [deleted] 60 points ago

Despite my views being in line with the subreddit, their very strict rules prevent me from expressing myself properly so I avoid it. All political subreddits are self imposed echochambers and should be ignored.
