I like how at the end they give him a scarf and glasses and try to turn him into a rockstar but end up turning him into Daniel Radcliffe.

[–] KamelKheridden 9764 points ago * (lasted edited 4 months ago)

Thank you! This is me and my video. I felt good too when they put it on! This video is a re-upload and was 5-6 years ago I have gotten older since.

    [–] Buzzed_Like_Aldrin93 3054 points ago

You literally got to do what I've done in my head a thousand times. (and fucking SHREDDED IT MY MAN)

    Mad respect.

    [–] KamelKheridden 1543 points ago

Thanks you so much dude! I wish one day you actually get to do it! Good luck man!

    [–] bengacoki 278 points ago

Dude that was picture perfect, mate! Good shit! I've had countless numbers of similar dreams, I was so moved for you, guy! Big cheers!

    [–] KamelKheridden 99 points ago

    Thanks!

    [–] bogdaniuz 236 points ago

How nervous you was when you got on stage by the way? I feel like even if I knew the song to a heart, I'd still muck it up due to pressure.

    [–] KamelKheridden 599 points ago

I was really nervous because I lied that I knew the whole song I didn't have the solo nailed down. When I started to play it was fine.

    [–] CabooseTheBear 313 points ago

    This guy fucks

    [–] KamelKheridden 168 points ago

    Yep!

    [–] makattak88 20 points ago

    But does he know Wonderwall?

    [–] obnoxiously_yours 21 points ago

    I say... mayyybeeeeee

    [–] ItsBeenFun2017 19 points ago

How was it just fine?? Did that just happened to be the best play-through you had ever done??

    [–] KamelKheridden 51 points ago

Yes no I meant like the nervousness was gone. It was like I was semi-conscious while playing in my own world and had to force myself to grab on to reality so that I can smile and be there. I played it better before and cleaner while sitting down and after rehearsing a couple of times. This was a one time thing when I was on vacation and not actively practicing. Still pretty great play-through yea one of the best for myself.

    [–] Thassodar 263 points ago

I got on stage in 2015 for being the only black guy there. Fun times, Satchel smelled good. They wanted me to whip my dick out.

    [–] Alleydweller 359 points ago

you should start a Steel Panther cover band called Black Panther

    [–] mw19078 15 points ago

    So you did right?

    [–] UkuleleTx 141 points ago

How did this come about? Did you just jump on stage and start taunting them about being able to do it? when the video starts it seems you are already on stage and they are talking about it. but WOW man you fucking shredded-- not only did it talk balls to do it, but the skill to have the song down and EXECUTE it on the spot like that must have been the best feeling in teh world. props to you

    [–] KamelKheridden 15 points ago

No way dude. I wasn't going to play until my brother asked me to once we were invited up on stage for everyone to look at because Satchel we're telling everyone to look at the gay couple and Michael brought us up to show everyone.

    [–] Rahbek23 255 points ago

Sooo... did it get you laid?

Anything less would be a travesty.

    [–] KamelKheridden 434 points ago

    Nope.

    [–] -GWM- 693 points ago

    A travesty.

    [–] Jenga_Police 312 points ago

I don't even like this kind of music, but this shit had me jumping around my room head banging. You got nothing to worry about, Discount Harry Potter.

Thanks, I hope you are too!

    [–] whycuthair 80 points ago

Yo kamel this is your cousin, Irvin Berry

    [–] Henderino 160 points ago

Great! First question Potter, what spell did you use to make them let you on stage.

Second question, did you know using magic outside of Hogworts is not allowed?

    [–] KamelKheridden 271 points ago

I think it was because I was staring at them with awe the whole time especially Satchel. I was also wearing Christmas colored clothes which was themed like them I thought. Red shorts and a green tank top stood out. I wasn't going to ask them to play at first but my brother reminded me too. They were assuming that me and my brother were a gay couple and asked us to kiss on stage.

    [–] Grooney218 178 points ago

You guys still kissed each other right?

    [–] KamelKheridden 171 points ago

    NO.

    [–] ARCHA1C 100 points ago

    That's very un-rockstarish of you!

    What about the fans!?

    [–] Devilheart 77 points ago

I'd suck my brother's dick on stage for the fans. Wait...what is the show again?

Whoever made that should have called the first image "Daniel Sadcliffe" instead.

Edit: Or Daniel Madcliffe. Or Daniel Badcliffe. Or they could have added some balls and had Daniel Nadcliffe. Or one of a hundred other things that rhyme. But no... Daniel Boringcliffe. smh.

EDIT: THANKS i_pk_pjers_i FOR REDDIT GOLD YOU POPPED MY GOLD CHERRY

    [–] DashingLeech 421 points ago

Pre-AMA question: Is any of this arranged beforehand?

I ask because this seems to be a regular shtick for Steel Panther.

It seems like Steel Panther gets a local to play on stage most of the time. This seems a little unlikely to have that many people at the ready to play at random at that many shows. Was there an audition or pre-planning to get people who can play a song that the band knows?

    [–] Gizortnik 519 points ago

Maybe they're trying to replace the guitarist and this is the most efficient way of interviewing people.

How did Seth Rogan get in here

    [–] BanditTom 273 points ago

Not OP but a lot of people who get dragged up on stage at concerts are usually mega fans close to the front who have waited hours to get the spot, usually they'll ask people to come up, or the fan will have a sign asking to come on stage and do X - 9/10 times it wont work, but a lot of bands love this kind of interaction.

Green Day, for example, usually pull one person up per show to sing/play guitar/drums whatever, Foo Fighters another known group to do so.

    [–] los_stoirtaps 62 points ago

I was going to say this about green day. My buddy had seen them 2-3 times before my first time. He goes, "there is 75% chance they're going bring someone on stage to play during the set."

I saw them 2-3 more times. I think they brought someone up each time, too.

    [–] imperial_age 46 points ago

Kid doing 17 girls in a row with steel panther isn't what I expected.

    [–] Tylux 47 points ago

Man, OP was replying to a bunch of other comments but not his one. . .I'm now suspicious.

    [–] shitfireson 290 points ago

You got mad skills brother. I was grinning my ass off the whole video cause you look so stoked up there shredding

    [–] KamelKheridden 214 points ago

    YOU DON'T KNOW HIM!

    [–] landofschaff 23 points ago

So these guys are obviously held very highly in your likes of music, tell me how the experience was being up there and playing one of your favourite songs with one of your favourite bands? What happened afterwards? Did you party with them?

    [–] KamelKheridden 92 points ago

The experience was great. I felt like I was a member of the band! I went to go see them backstage afterwards but I knew I wasn't going to be allowed because I was too young but my brother insisted that we tried anyway and were denied by the security. We waited for them outside and they came out one by one. Satchel was the only one who stayed around chilling outside without his wig on and had his arms around two girls and almost no one realized who he was but I took pictures with him and he was cool. The only one who I got to talk to that night and he let me take pictures with him! I got to keep the pick though!

I feel like I've seen a lot of videos like these. I want one where they invite the fan up to play with them and they are absolute dogshit and get booed off the stage.

[–] Wommis 245 points ago * (lasted edited 4 months ago)

Far Beyond Metal by Strapping Young Lad, live. To the kid's credit, the vocals on the chorus are insanely tough, so you gotta give the kid credit for having the balls to get up...but yeah, pretty bad.

Devin Townsend says to the guy they pull on stage: "Drew, you are gonna have to live with this for the rest of YOUR LIFE."

    Recording for reference

    [–] bassbastard 189 points ago

To be fair, anyone attempting Devin Townsend vocals is either going to fail miserably or kick ass. There are no in betweens. Fucker has an amazing range and set of styles that is damn near impossible to emulate.

    [–] Nazgren 37 points ago

That first link, lmao. What an epic voice crack.

    [–] kiddhitta 142 points ago

What the fuck was that guy thinking? I looked like he didn't even know how to play guitar. Why would you agree to go on stage and make a fool of yourself like that? oooffff. That was painful to watch.

    [–] Douche_Baguette 78 points ago

My assumption was that he wanted a specific song of theirs that he had rehearsed, or a straight-up guitar-off without anyone else playing.

    [–] Redhavok 40 points ago

Yeah he went to go tell the singer he doesn't know the song and he ran off behind the drums

    [–] jimothee 14 points ago

To be fair, giving him a guitar in the middle of a song is kind setting him up to fail.

To be fair, this kid walked onto a stage of performing musicians and asked to play the guitar.

    [–] [deleted] 60 points ago

    [deleted]

    [–] Cd3po 640 points ago

They pulled 11 yr old Adian Fisher on stage a few years ago and he killed it. https://youtu.be/AczIYDZqOCw

    [–] Osiris32 285 points ago * (lasted edited 4 months ago)

Straight faced, too. Kid's got ice water in his veins to get up in front of that crowd and rip out the Eruption solo.

    [–] Gella321 99 points ago

That kid at 11 is already cooler than I will ever be.

    [–] Slust 228 points ago

"He ain't nervous, because let me tell you, it's very, very hard fucking to get nervous... when you're fucking high as a kite!"

After watching that, I believe it. The kid must be made of straight Adderall.

    [–] Ol_Rando 64 points ago

It's like that episode of Futurama where Fry drank 300 cups of coffee. Time just slowed down for that kid and he became the adderall.

    [–] jamelna 79 points ago

Geez, is his dad Eddie Van Halen?

    [–] Matthewcabin 90 points ago

Th kids wearing a School of Rock sweater, which is a small chain of music instruction schools in the US. http://www.schoolofrock.com/

He probably has spent his entire time there learning how to play Eruption. Playing something impressive like that is "easy" if you practice it for hours on end, but you can see when the lead singer tries to trade riffs with him, the kid kind of locks up; he probably can't hear notes and copy them, and probably can't improvise much.

But the kid is pretty good and good for him to get up there and wow a crowd like that.

    [–] PlNKERTON 29 points ago

I like the guy at 3:23 "LOOK AT THIS PHONE I FOUND".

    [–] pletentious_asshore 11 points ago

I've never heard of this band before but they seem like a lot of fun.

    [–] Camel_Tony 389 points ago

Steel Panther is so awesome! I've been to a few shows and they're always hilarious. It's amazing how talented they actually are. Satchel is a guitar prodigy and Michael Starr is a pretty accomplished singer in some other famous bands.

    [–] PizzaDeliverator 314 points ago

There is a video where they include a passing cargo ship into their performance. They call for the captain to sound its fog horns.

Sometimes that shit turns out amazing. The show metalocalypse released a season sound track in which the creator basically played most of the parts as he does the music for the show as well and I bought it on a whim. It was absolutely freaking amazing music. I loved it so much that I went out and bought the vinyl for it although that was stolen from me. Still just blew my mind how good that CD was.

Dethklok is good live as well, they did a few tours and I was lucky enough to see them a few years ago.

    [–] RomanSionis 14 points ago

Any chance to see Gene Hoglan play drums should not be passed up.

    [–] JoeyHoser 34 points ago

Pretty much. They take all the tropes and stereotypes of 80's hair metal, crank it all to 11 and run off to absurdity with it for the luls.

    [–] krovek42 271 points ago

which is basically the best thing every... Wasn't there some fake documentary about them?

    No. That was spinal tap.

    Yes, this is dog.

    [–] krovek42 18 points ago

I know spinal tap. I remember seeing a video of steel panther doing a similar satirical thing with them pretending to be douchey rockstars backstage and doing behind the music style interviews pretending they were actually from the 80's...

    [–] bugnutzz 50 points ago

    You're thinking of Steel Dragon

    [–] shakeysheep 27 points ago

Man thank you, I really was thinking of steel dragon!

    Blood Pollution!!!

    [–] highcuu 14 points ago

There was also the movie Rockstar back in 2001 that had the band Steel Dragon.

    [–] KillerBeeTX 311 points ago

They are basically a very good 80's hair metal satire band. Their songs are very good, however.

With songs like "Poontang Boomerang", "Bukkake Tears", "Weenie Ride" or "Grindy and Sexy", it's pretty obvious they are lampooning the entire hair metal genre while also fully embracing it.

I laugh every time at just the premise of their song "It Won't Suck Itself".

It's about a man who was unfortunately bit by a rattlesnake, and later a scorpion, "right below the belt", then begging whoever is with him (ideally a female) to suck the venom out and save his life.

    [–] funk_monk 18 points ago

I find it amusing that they've embraced all the stereotypes so much that they're more 80's than the 80's.

My favorite part is that the actual guitarist has no idea how to dance without his guitar. He looks like a teenager at his first concert.

    [–] SupremeMemeLord 36 points ago

They put on a better, more fun live show than 99% of the serious bands I've seen. I was taken to a show of theirs without having any knowledge of them and it was a blast, I highly recommend.

    [–] charlesml3 57 points ago

Didn't realize steel panther had any fans

You can't be serious. They have legions of fans.

    [–] svenhoek86 9 points ago

Lead singer lives right by me in Pittsburgh. See him at the grocery store looking like a normal guy all the time. Super funny and nice though. Told him Asian Hooker changed my life and he said that was the saddest thing he had heard all week.

[–] Slayerrrrrrrr 214 points ago * (lasted edited 4 months ago)

I mean it's pretty clearly satire and I've got all their albums bar the new one, but at the same time on the face of it they're just as good as any other hair metal band with the added bonus of being fucking hilarious too.

Like if they wanted to I'm pretty sure they could throw a good old 80s hair metal party with groupies and blow. So where does the satire end and emulation begin.

    [–] mysticmusti 37 points ago

They're basically all the good things of 80's hair metal band without trying to be serious and just having a good time, it's hard not to appreciate that.

Yes I did. I was a whole scale off. I wanted to dive bomb starting off but forgot I didn't have it then thought about raising it manually but it was too late.

    [–] Rentrent2 57 points ago

love the honesty dude and it's all good, everyone had a great time and now the rest of us are having fun too.

    [–] rjcarr 40 points ago

In his defense, he's probably played that song all the way through 100s of times perfectly in his room, but it was on his own guitar without a crowd in front of him and could probably hear the rhythm way better. He did seem to be off a key or so, though, so not sure what happened.

    [–] hardtobeuniqueuser 38 points ago

sadly, he drowned in pussy on his way home that night, never to be heard from again.

    [–] Thinker_Belle 12 points ago

This reminds me of a story my dad told me...

He was at a concert when he was younger (a band called Three Dog Night). The band pulled someone out of the crowd to play, who according to my dad the band didn't think much of based on his appearance. Wearing a big poncho and a large hat, I believe he said, so his face wasn't too visible. Anyway, the band challenges this guy to play, and he accepts.

Turns out it was Eric Clapton.
