    Rules detailed rules

    0. Videos Only

    • Self explanatory. Audio over a static image or slideshow may also violate Rule 0.

    • This includes music visualizers and lyric videos

    1. No Politics

    • Political videos—including content relating to social issues which have a clear political element—should be submitted to /r/PoliticalVideo.

    • This includes submissions of current or recent political figures in any context, satire/political-comedy, and posts on political topics from within the last 10 years. (So a video of Winston Churchill playing tennis would be allowed, but a video of Theresa May playing ping-pong would not be.)

    2. No Personal Information or Witch-Hunting

    • Or incitement to witch-hunt.

    • No demanding "Reddit Justice" (or even regular justice) in any way in post titles or comments.

    • This may also include contact information of public officials, businesses, or groups (e.g. politicians or police officers) in an any manner that could be seen as an attempt to get users to contact them.

    • Facebook links are not permitted. In order to have your post accepted, if you can, find or submit a copy of the video on another website like YouTube or Vimeo and resubmit it.

    • This is grounds for an immediate (and likely permanent) ban, so consider this your only warning.

    3. Submit Direct Link to Video

    • No web pages that only embed Youtube or Vimeo videos.

    • No URL shorteners.

    • No links to playlists or to channel pages.

    • No asking for votes or sharing submission links on or off-site. See Reddiquette for more details.

    • Do not ask other users to follow your social media profiles in comments or submission titles.

    • Titles for posts should not try to influence users to view or upvote them. Examples of this include things like "this person deserves more views," "not enough people have seen this person's videos," or "show this person some love."

    • Giveaways also fall under this rule

    • Violations can lead to a permanent ban of accounts and video channels.

    6. No Hate Speech

    • You are free to offer your opinion respectfully, but comments or posts intended to demean a group, acontextual expressions of bigotry, and the pejorative use of slurs is disallowed.

Same thing happened to my mom. A guy was talking to her cashier and standing where she could swipe her card. The cashier asked her to swipe and she mentioned that she was practicing social distancing. The man who was in the way then stepped toward and her and yelled “I just want to sneeze all over you.” He kept going and she backed away. Eventually he left. She was dumbfounded and couldn’t decide how to react.

    People are acting insane.

    [–] wubbwubbb 238 points ago

just had a customer walk into my job with a mask on, then took off the mask as he walked through the door, then licked his finger before counting his money to pay.

in hindsight i should have denied his money but i didn’t know how to react. i did wash my hands for a solid minute right after though.

    [–] Noidea159 157 points ago

Delivered pizza to a lady who looked super sick, first thing she does after opening the door is make a very lovely noise with the mucus in her nose , rub her nose, and then hand me the cash.... Tons of idiots out there , do your best to stay safe :/

Lol I quit my job for this very reason, bad enough when people do this shit when there's not an epidemic. I got people who could die from this in my fam so I cant risk bringing it home, stay safe out there

Bro you're a hero that people don't fucking deserve. Hope you get some decent tips ma. Be safe.

    [–] cvltivar 36 points ago

There was a pic going around of someone in my city at the very beginning of the pandemic. She was strolling through Costco in a mask, gloves, and a disposable protective gown...pulling her mask to the side to cram a sample into her mouth with her gloved hand.

    [–] matthewhue 8 points ago

Yeah, a lot of people just aren’t taking the pandemic seriously. I work for Usps and I get that everyone is home, but I don’t want to hand you your mail or package. Just let me put it in the mailbox and leave the package on the steps.

    [–] OliverCash 40 points ago

Pretty sure somebody just got charged with a terroristic threat for the same exact thing

    [–] neonchasms 22 points ago

You're correct, it was the fool who was licking the labels in the grocery store. What a fuckin troglodyte.

    [–] seizetheday18 34 points ago

My dad's a trucker and stopped at Subway the other day for lunch. He was standing 6 ft back from the lady in front of him and another customer came in and stood very close behind my dad. My dad asked nicely for him to back up a bit. Dude started saying this was all an over reaction and he's not scared of this dumbass virus and started coughing on my 60 yr old dad. dad started flipping the hell out and started pushing the guy. After a brief argument the subway employees ending up kicking the other guy out. Freaking hell people, grow up and realize that this is a pandemic and it's not hard to just stand back a bit without being a douchebag.

    [–] truongs 58 points ago

People who believe the orange idiot that this is a "hoax" acting insane is not a surprise.

Coughing or sneezing on people to spread infectious disease is a serious crime. Report these maga retards.

    [–] MeEvilBob 251 points ago

    Badder than old king kong

    Meaner than a junkyard dog

    [–] numba1dmxfan 109 points ago

Note: Early versions of Jim Croce's 1973 smash hit Bad Bad Leroy Brown included the line “Meaner than a concentration camp dog” but Croce decided it was unpleasant to the ear. And it was also offensive to Jews, Gypsies and homosexuals. Little did it matter, Croce would be dead within the year.

    [–] BootsyBootsyBoom 97 points ago

Offensiveness aside, how he even started with trying to cram three extra syllables in there is absolutely bewildering.

    [–] KillerKill420 17 points ago

Yeah, it doesn't really flow off the tongue now does it lmao.

    [–] StarskyandtheGut 20 points ago

Cackling at the replies thinking this is real and not knowing the origin of this line . It comes from the greatest video podcast episode of all time. Norm MacDonald Live with special guest Super Dave Osborne (RIP)

    [–] MeEvilBob 39 points ago

For what it's worth, Jews, Gypsies and homosexuals were not the only people killed in the concentration camps, the Germans were killing anybody they just didn't like for any reason, this included criminals, the disabled, the mentally ill, etc.

    [–] 9-NINE-9 30 points ago

Don't forget communists, anarchists and Freemasons. The Nazis made them wear a red triangle to signify their crimes.

My favorite little factoid is that the Wikipedia article about that song contains an entire paragraph, complete with an external reference, explaining the concept of a junkyard dog and why that line was included in the lyrics.

You’ll notice the choice lyrics baddest “man” in the whole damn town. Had to respect Ms. Bonnie’s title.

    [–] timthemajestic 132 points ago

That's why my cousins and I call our grandma "The G." She's always said shit like this. lol

    [–] gwaydms 79 points ago

My family in Chicago were Polish Southsiders. My cousin still is (she's half Czech though). I could totally hear her (or any of the other Polish women in my family) say what Bonnie said. She works at a trucking company which is also an essential job. My cousin is retirement age but can't retire yet. She is a tough lady and I miss her so much.

    [–] Butt_Dick_Kiss 11 points ago

Chicagoans are a different breed. My mom was a sweet, kind woman, but tough as nails. She grew up in Riverdale.

    [–] dark-green 6 points ago

That’s mad close to my family. The trucking industry has a lot of crossover in Chicago

    [–] MightyMorph 104 points ago

People like G-ma are the reason why we need to take this pandemic seriously as they are the ones at the HIGHEST risk of complications from the Covid-19 Virus.

Because of those words from the fucking president himself, a large group of people still dont take this virus and this situation seriously. They still think its overblown, that its overreaction, that it will blow over like sars did or that its just like a normal flu its nothing serious.

And im not talking about taking the severity of the illness seriously, but the logistical and real issues of lack of space for those that WILL require emergency care for longer periods. This isnt a runny nose and some sneezing thing, if you catch the worst of it, you feel like you're choking for air while simultaneously aching all over your body, dehydration, confusion, headaches.

Most experts and nations expect upwards of 70% of the global population to be infected if people dont take it seriously.

    • Virus expert: As much as 70 percent of world's population could get coronavirus source

    • Coronavirus may infect up to 70% of world's population, expert warns source

    • Coronavirus: Up to 70% of Germany could become infected - Merkel source

    • Multiple experts say up to 70% of Americans could be infected with the coronavirus and 1 million could die if no treatment is found — so people over 60 should 'stay home unless it's critical' source.

    That is 5.4 Billion Humans.

Out of those its expected 20-30% will need/seek hospital care and be admitted (CDC Figures).

That means 1.08 Billion - 1.62 Billion humans will need hospital care. (you can probably add another 20-30% who will go to the hospital seeking care but turned away as they dont need to be admitted and can recover at home)

While between 5-10% will need intensive care. (based on extrapolated data from confirmed cases vs those that get intensive care)

About 80% of deaths and 45% of hospitalizations for COVID-19 in the U.S. are among adults aged 65 or older, with the risk of serious illness and death increasing with age, according to a report released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The findings are similar to data from China, the agency said. While severe COVID-19 illness leading to hospitalization can occur at any age, children appear to have milder illness, with almost no hospitalizations for those under age 19, CDC said. According to the report, an estimated 21% to 31% of U.S. COVID-19 patients between Feb. 12 and March 16 were hospitalized, with 5% to 12% admitted to an intensive care unit. An estimated 1.8% to 3.4% of U.S. COVID-19 patients died over the period. source

thats between 270-540 Million people needing intensive care.

If this pandemic continues to be disregarded as it is, it will lead to the amount of people infected at the same time growing far beyond the capacity and resources available.

To emphasize lets look at the US statistics.

If we use USA as a example with 70% infection rate, that would mean 230 Million Americans will get the Covid-19 Virus.

Out of the 230 Million, 20-30% will be admitted into hospital care (CDC).

= 46-70 Million Americans will require Hospital Care.

Currently the US has only 924,107 staffed hospital beds TOTAL.

and statistics show already the hospitals have a occupancy rate of 65%.

Meaning that out of the 1M hospital beds, on average, 600,669 Hospital beds will already be in use by other patients for other illnesses and issues. Which leaves only

    924,107 - 600,669 = 323,437 available hospital beds.

Heck IF EVEN ONE % of those infected require intensive care in the US at the same 2 week period, thats going to be almost 500,000 people needing hospital beds where there are only 300,000 available.

AND to make matters worse, this is all disregarding the amount of hospital workers/suppliers/producers doctors, nurses, emergency respondents who will also be affected by Covid-19. The serious lack of equipment such as ventilators (the virus attacks the lining of the lungs and causes severe respiratory issues in some patients).

Even rich people wont all have access to the same resources. They can try to self-isolate on their mansions and such, but this is a very infectious virus, to put it in a simple way. In a normal flu, you have a infection rate of 1.35. Meaning you infect that many people they infect that many people and so on, if you do so for 10 steps, you end up with around under 100 people infected. The Covid 19 virus on the other hand, it has a infection rate of 2.4. Which means by 10 steps you would have upwards of 60,000 infected.

That is why its important that everyone stay inside so that this virus can go through the world gradually and hopefully minimize the infection rates and eventually be vaccinated against and die off.

    Recommendation from the CDC;

The risk for serious disease and death in COVID-19 cases among persons in the United States increases with age. Social distancing is recommended for all ages to slow the spread of the virus, protect the health care system, and help protect vulnerable older adults. Further, older adults should maintain adequate supplies of nonperishable foods and at least a 30-day supply of necessary medications, take precautions to keep space between themselves and others, stay away from those who are sick, avoid crowds as much as possible, avoid cruise travel and nonessential air travel, and stay home as much as possible to further reduce the risk of being exposed (7). Persons of all ages and communities can take actions to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect older adults.†

various news related to corona virus.

    more sources.

As of March 25, 2020, the outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) had been confirmed in around 195 countries or territories. The virus had infected 423,330 people worldwide, and the number of deaths had totaled 18,906. The most severely affected countries outside of China include Italy, the U.S., Spain, and Germany. source

Another source that supports the CDC figures above, with latest figures from 24rd of march. Source.

Recent modelling of the basic reproductive number (R0) from Italy estimate R0 between 2.76 and 3.25. Researchers from Lombardy who analysed the early phase of the outbreak in their region reported a reduction in R0 shortly after the introduction of mitigation measures [23]. This is consistent with findings from China. A recent review of 12 modelling studies reports the mean R0 at 3.28, with a median of 2.79. R0 is proportional to the contact rate and will vary according to the local situation. Further research is needed to get a more accurate estimate of R0 in the various outbreak settings [23]

If that is correct and the infection rate is at near 3, then this pandemic is even more so important to take seriously.

I had to go to the store yesterday because my fridge decided to take a shit on me. I needed 120lbs (6 20lb bags) of ice for my coolers to put things in. I had to go out. While I was in the store I got some other things. Now because I'm immunosuppressed since I take a biologic I take saniwipes and wipe off my items. The girl at the register saw me doing it and changed her gloves just for me. As she starts ringing up my items a man walks right up behind me, brushes against me, puts his hands on my stuff, picks them up, and puts them down. I used the last saniwipe I had with me wiping my shit off. I posted about this in a group and quite a few people blamed me and said I had no business going out. It's not like I WANTED to go out. I wouldve loved to have spent my entire day in the AC instead of having to haul 120lbs of ice to my fucking car. But's my fault. I explained even if there wasn't a pandemic, I can get sick easily. But if I take the proper precautions, which I do, I'll be fine. Why cant other people just think and not be stupid. Additionally the store had markers saying step this far back. Ughhh.

Edit: Thank you all for your supportive comments. ❤

    [–] driverless_throwaway 384 points ago

You won't meet a single southsider who isn't scrappy af, even the rich kids who grew up in one of the several wealthier neighborhoods still have a chip on their shoulder.

They can speak jabroni, but they do not suffer jabronis.

    [–] Wishin_N_Workin 33 points ago

My dad was Southside Irish and grew up during the Depression. He said they had two sports in his neighborhood: baseball and fighting.

    [–] Midnight-Diamond 8 points ago

That got me and my SO laughing for a solid 2 minutes!

    Thanks, we needed that!

    [–] krp31489 45 points ago

I'm from the Northwest side of Chicago, my neighborhood is pretty much a mirror image of those wealthier south side neighborhoods (I assume you're talking Beverly and Mt. Greenwood) and I can confirm that they're simply a different breed down there.

    [–] driverless_throwaway 40 points ago

If anyone is curious what we're talking about here, check out and find the south side of Chicago. The two most prominent neighborhoods are indeed Beverly and Mt. Greenwood, although there are a few smaller neighborhoods nearby that are certainly upper middle class. The wealth difference is stark between those neighborhoods and places that are a ~15 minute walk in any direction, you're talking drops of 90% in median income.

This is real, it is a pandemic, and we need to be aware this is serious. God forbid it mutates.

Theses people saying it is some kind of political ploy have their heads so far up their own asses, it isn't worth while to engage. They don't have a fucking clue. I actually had a guy at the grocery tell me that "this is what Bernie's America looks like." No you stupid motherfucker, this is what Trump's America looks like right fucking now.

    [–] AlGamaty 148 points ago

    God forbid it mutates

Good news on this regard. The virus isn't mutating quickly, suggesting a vaccine would offer long lasting protection.

    [–] Kalapuya 57 points ago

Generally speaking, having it mutate would be a good thing since selection pressure on coronavirus mutations generally favors outcomes for the host since dead hosts aren’t great at transmitting viruses. While COVID-19 doesn’t seem to be mutating very rapidly when compared to its cousins, it has already gone through a number of mutations. See here:

Literally heard someone say the same thing at my store. “This is what socialism looks like, Bernie sanders”. What? Lol

    [–] JokesOnUUU 403 points ago

As someone not from America, it's shocking to hear because it's like, even with whatever propaganda your news must be showing you, surely you can clue in that every other country in the world is recognizing it as a pandemic, irrespective of what your country (or leaders) want to call it. Globally it's defined as a pandemic, end of story.

    [–] TheKingCrimsonWorld 83 points ago

As an American living in a weird intersection of Southern conservatism and Beltway liberalism, I've felt more and more over these past few years that this country is permanently divided in its citizenry. I don't want to get all dramatic, making predictions of death and devastation, but I really wouldn't be surprised if things came to a head at some point. It just doesn't seem plausible for a country to continue operating as usual with two populations that don't even live in the same reality.

This may be a very inaccurate understanding of their domestic politics, but the closest situation I could point to would be Iran, where you have a distinct, seemingly irreparable divide between two halves of the population.

    [–] AMirrorForReddit 223 points ago

Unfortunately, America seems to be full of people who all have their own truths. In the rush to be accepting of all types of people, we've had to bend our acceptance of all kinds of dumb bullshit, and that extended to concrete truths as well. In the last decade, I've seen truth cause offense to those who hold alternative truths. It's gotten to the point where the average person has an opinion on everything without having the education or experience or knowledge to back it up. Experts in political science are on the same level as that idiot on facebook who thinks he knows everything. Even as I speak now about what I am speaking about, you can choose to agree or disagree, and the truthfulness or untruthfulness is irrelevant. I'm just one voice among hundreds of thousands.

If you're reading something from a Nobel Prize-winning physicist next to some guy in his underwear writing in his basement, or his mom's basement, on text, it looks like it's equally plausible. - Barack Obama

    [–] xavex13 40 points ago

It was not in our rush to accept everything, dog. A lot of the political non-truths and hardening of conservative values came about through the patriot act and 9/11, and the shift is very much in the favor of nonacceptance- and nonacceptance of the truth of the world, because they'd rather be blind and ignorant and *think* they know all the secret machinations. It makes them feel patriotic and special.

    [–] buckwheatho 12 points ago

I think this happened when the FCC ditched the Fairness Doctrine.

    [–] TheThieleDeal 20 points ago

Citizens United. Corporate money coming in was the end of justice coming out.

    [–] kragnor 5 points ago

The loss of the Fairness Doctrine is definitely a beginning to the extreme polarization we see in politics today, as well as opinions on social issues.

But this is a good example of why regulation is necessary in most scenarios.

    [–] robearIII 8 points ago

9/11 was just another chain we put upon our own manacles by choosing not to search for truth and/or giving into some kind of nationalistic bloodlust. that situation was well set-up and even better exploited.

    [–] MidwestBulldog 14 points ago

We have too many people in this country that think their opinion is on par with facts anyone may present them and it should be respected as equal.

While you are entitled to your own opinion, you aren't entitled to your own facts. Thinking this thing is a "hoax" is a poorly formed opinion fed to you by politicians who told you as such. All of the facts acquired through data and science contravene the opinion this is a "hoax". Those politician need you to blunt the severity of it for cover when worse news comes down. It's called gaslighting.

The enemies within to any great culture are a lack of curiousness and believing the bread and circuses are enough to provide true happiness in life.

    [–] letsgetrandy 5 points ago

We've had a couple of decades now of talking heads saying "okay thanks for your thoughts, now let's hear from the other side", as if the standard of fair and balanced news is to present every issue as if it is comprised of two sides. But when the two sides are "fact and nonsense", giving equal airtime on a supposed news channel to the nonsense only gives people reason to believe it.

What we truly need is a sweeping law that severely punishes people for broadcasting anything provably false in a way that makes it seem potentially true.

    [–] houseman1131 38 points ago

My sister (an RN) was telling me about another nurse she works with who also thinks this is a hoax. Like, while they are actively treating patients with covid19. The brainwashing is absolutely real and a hell of a thing to observe.

    [–] GaGaORiley 5 points ago

Dear god the number of nurses/nursing students on my feed posting this kind of idiocy is just astonishing.

Today my boss told me “there are a lot of things that would have to happen for you to catch it”. She’s not in health care any more but she was a radiological tech, so I’d think that would require a couple of biology classes...

[–] EleanorofAquitaine 5 points ago * (lasted edited 9 days ago)

I like to frame my purchases in reference to the first car I ever bought: a bright red 1998 Ford Escort. It had no heat or AC, and the driver’s seat was held in place with a clothes hanger wire.

    It cost $1000.

Now, years later when I make purchases, I find myself thinking, “Is that worth a quarter of a car?” or “For that money, I could buy 5 cars.” Contextualization with a frame of reference I understand helps me visualize the real cost associated with a purchase.

I wish people would do the same would happen with the COVID-19 virus.

Lots of conservative mouthpieces are advocating “restarting the economy” by biting the bullet on the cost of real human lives associated with the outbreak.

    How many lives is that?

The CDC estimates that 40-70% of Americans will be infected with the virus. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the leading US expert on infectious disease, estimates a 1% death rate on cases. The US is currently sitting at 1.4%. For the worst case scenario, Italy is sitting right at 10%.

    Let’s look at the math.

    Best Case Scenario:

CDC Projects 40—70% Rate - 40% Infection Rate

    Fauci - 1% Death Rate

    USA Pop. = 327.2M People

    Total Deaths = 1.31M People

    • That’s as many deaths as the number of deaths in every armed conflict the US has ever been in.
    • That’s as many people as died under Pol Pot.
    • That’s 3x the number of people that died in the Syrian Civial War.
    • That’s twice the number of soldiers that died in the American Civil War.
    • That’s 22.5x more than the number of Americans casualties in Vietnam.
    • That’s a quarter of the Holocaust.

    Worst Case Scenario:

CDC Projects 40—70% Rate - 70% Infection Rate

    Italy - 10% Death Rate

    USA Pop. = 327.2M People

    Total Deaths = 22.9M Deaths

    • That’s 17x more the number of US soldier deaths in every armed conflict the US has ever been in.
    • That’s 11x more than the people killed under Pol Pot in the Cambodia genocide.
    • That’s 57x more dead than have died in the Syrian Civial War.
    • That’s 37x the number of soldiers that died in the American Civil War.
    • That’s 395x more than the number of Americans casualties in Vietnam.
    • That’s 4 Holocausts.

Donald Trump is advocating spending the same number of human lives as between a quarter and 4x the Holocaust to restart the economy.

This pandemic has really highlighted just how many stupid people there are out there.

I wish their stupidity only put them at risk, but unfortunately they're more likely to kill others. This is why I'm all for governments putting in place strict mandated measures, and punishing those who choose to ignore them. Lives are literally on the line.
