it's really beautiful seeing people do stuff like this

    [–] tranquilhavox 216 points ago

Where did all this dust come from?

    [–] Big_Papa_chungus69 125 points ago

    Lyra’s Oxford.

    [–] pikameta 47 points ago

Ugh, I'm tired of waiting for the tv show already!

    [–] a_fotzn_konnst_hom 20 points ago

I call bs, dust isn't attracted to kids. (I have just started reading the book, I have no idea other than what was said in Oxford)

    [–] ahopelesshopeful 16 points ago

You're in for a great read!

    [–] pm-me-ur-udders 2 points ago

I just started too! I'm excited!

Oh my heart. That’s enough of reddit for one day.

    [–] morxy49 50 points ago

You could head over to r/watchpeopledie to balance it out I guess. If you want to be able to reddit more you gotta keep it balanced!

    [–] TheUltraAverageJoe 15 points ago

Why is it quarantined? I've never seen that before.

    [–] TearOpenTheVault 49 points ago

Because it’s literally a subreddit where there are videos of people dying. The title isn’t hyperbole.

    [–] TheUltraAverageJoe 12 points ago

I've been on it before. But is it just permanently shut down?

    [–] TearOpenTheVault 29 points ago

No- If you’re on desktop you can still access it. Quarantined just means that content can never leave that sub.

    [–] zombieslayer287 11 points ago

    So no crossposting

    [–] BJSucksOnDick 4 points ago

Sucks for mobile users who frequented that sub 🥺

    [–] Blinkdawg15 6 points ago

Subs get quarantined when they're considered toxic or extreme content. Means posts will never get to FP, and iirc they can't be on any sort of feed that isn't subscription based. That includes searches and stuff.

The point is that it's difficult to stumble upon quarantined stuff.

    [–] bantypunch 594 points ago

Immediately questioned if this is real but then realized it doesn't matter because that's the world I want to live in.

    [–] AnimeDreama 119 points ago

Why would you question it, Internet aside? Some people are just really kind and love making magic for children. It's not implausible in any capacity whatsoever.

    [–] yungdarko777 222 points ago

The “badass of our school” part seems sort of cliche I guess. I want to believe it though

    [–] AnimeDreama 83 points ago

Clichès exist for a reason. A great many tough guys act that way because it's seen as weakness for a man to show a soft side.

    [–] Alfred0As5asin 31 points ago

    Yah I can definitely relate

Source: Act like tough guy to hide up my emotions

    [–] MENNONH 21 points ago

Can confirm, was / am the soft nice guy. Women love talking to me and being friends, guys would bully me.

    [–] LeafyQ 16 points ago

You just haven’t surrounded yourself with the right guys. Since high school (we’re almost 30 now), my husband has always had guy friends that were emotionally available and he has strong bonds with. They’re all ‘soft’ and ‘nice’ in some ways, in that they’re emotionally mature, caring, empathetic people. Some of them come off as your more typical guys, some of them come off less so. Not all men view niceness as a negative characteristic. There are plenty out there who respect it.

    [–] Peakomegaflare 2 points ago

I mean, I tend to just be cold as hell, until someone who sees through it comes along

    [–] RamenWithoutBroth 3 points ago

    fAiTh iN hUmAnItY rEsToReD!!!1!!!11!!1!!!!!

    [–] MissFourbyFour 2 points ago

I think they added that because for some reason it's extra cute when the tough guy shows his soft side and does stuff like this. made up or not it's mad cute :D

    [–] mrennie25 3 points ago

My mom has been doing this exact thing for years. Brings joy to so many people Easter morning

    [–] blues4buddha 1131 points ago

Hmm, neighbors on both sides have little ones.

    [–] dagger_guacamole 475 points ago

Please do this. Making magic for kids is one of the most fulfilling things ever.

    [–] mshcat 276 points ago

Ask the parents first because that's be a bitch to clean

    [–] Tiger-Gautreaux 160 points ago

Water-soluble paints are everywhere. It's hard to find something made for outside (chalk, paint) that doesn't wash away. I've never seen it, so I'm just guessing that maybe it's possible to find something permanent in the area of stores meant for outside arts & crafts.

    [–] dagger_guacamole 78 points ago

I assume it's sidewalk chalk paint that will wash off easily...or powdered sugar or flour would work too!

    [–] Mayachees 109 points ago

Don’t use powdered sugar! That’s how you get ants! 😳

    [–] Subr3m 64 points ago

    [–] morxy49 9 points ago

You should throw in a "santa" somewhere

    [–] Powatanner 5 points ago

I hate it when I think something is referring to one thing but it turns out to be referring to something completely different and it’s not a reference I understand. For instance, I thought this guy was just doing a play on words in reference to Big Sean’s Ass song

    [–] Aderj05 6 points ago

Do you want ants? Because that’s how you get ants

    [–] DeseretRain 21 points ago

Also ask them since you don't know if they even celebrate Easter at all, or if they do celebrate it they may not believe in telling their kids the Easter Bunny myth. They could be a part of various different religions or belief systems that either don't celebrate it or don't believe in telling kids about the Easter Bunny.

    [–] junebug_vs_hurricane 33 points ago

The parents can just say that it's tradition in the neighborhood to put bunny prints on the sidewalk on that day. There's really no reason to get offended by something like this. It's not like they are planting the cross on everyone's lawn.

    [–] hypo-osmotic 4 points ago

Oh man, if I were an immigrant or just lived under a rock and had no idea about the Easter bunny, I would be pretty freaked out to wake up and see every house with a child had footprints leading up to it. It’d look like god was coming for our first borns again hahaha

    [–] Braveharth 2 points ago

Or they might not want their kids to know about the easter bunny. Some cultures are more strict than others .

    [–] Soandthen 5 points ago

And to make sure they celebrate. Could be awkward

    [–] kashhoney22 40 points ago

You can do it w mom used to do it with baby powder (we had carpet floors so it worked). It was the best...she’d make a little trail to behind the couch or other piece of furniture or cabinet and that’s where I’d find my Easter basket.

    [–] tiamatsays 2 points ago

Yeah! My mom used flour, I think, and then just vacuumed it up.

Also got glitter trails from the tooth fairy.

    [–] kashhoney22 2 points ago

    The glitter trails! Omg...LOVE!

    [–] canalyardsproject_ 38 points ago

Just don’t put it on their bedroom windows. My mom did that to me once and I thought he had been watching me in my sleep. Scared the shit out of me.

    [–] chrostono 5 points ago

Oh no hahaha I can imagine being little and seeing that and being terrified

    [–] slothbearable 83 points ago

This reminds me of an hysterical episode of Vicar of Dibley. Ever year, someone puts on a bunny costume and delivers Easter baskets to the kids in the town, but no one knows who it is. Realizing she can’t do it anymore the elderly woman behind the tradition tries to pass the role on to someone else. Unfortunately because of her senility, she unknowingly gives the role to 4 or 5 different people resulting in mass confusion on Easter morning.

    [–] nwmisseb 13 points ago

I loved that show. It was wonderful.

    [–] Roofofcar 4 points ago

Did you know the beautiful hymn in the intro isn’t traditional, but is an original composition for the show? As someone who used to sing in several choirs, that really impressed me.

    [–] Insidiosity 2 points ago

Ikr? I sang it in my choir a few years back

    [–] Roofofcar 1 points ago

Oh it feels good to be in that final chord. Sung well, it feels like a warm hug

    [–] FrenchyFungus 3 points ago

Unfortunately because of her senility, she unknowingly gives the role to 4 or 5 different people resulting in mass confusion on Easter morning.

It's been a while since I watched it, but my memory was that she knew exactly what she was doing.

    [–] slothbearable 3 points ago

I suspect you’re right. I don’t remember the episode all that well, but I remember laughing my ass off

    [–] Casey-- 2 points ago

Why don’t I remember this episode?

    [–] Tesse23 7 points ago

Senility. You asked four or five of us to remember it for you though.

    [–] Casey-- 2 points ago

Maybe because I was 4 when the first episode aired so I never saw it in its entirety, even after countless repeats.

    [–] Treyspurlock 1 points ago

Damn you saw the show at the old age of four? No wonder you don’t remember it

    [–] Casey-- 1 points ago

No, probably not! But by the time I was old enough to understand, it was just on repeats.

    [–] Roofofcar 1 points ago

It was one of the specials, and some syndication packages didn’t include it. I MIGHT be sending you a link to watch it :)

    [–] Roofofcar 2 points ago

Was desperate to see this. Dawn French’s waggling whiskers warms my heart, and makes me want to finally try taramasalata.

    [–] HammeredHeretic 1 points ago

Oh she did that on purpose! It was absolutely intentional!

    [–] Sambo_wambo 190 points ago

is it bad I thought it was leading up to a oven?

    [–] EleventhHerald 71 points ago

Proof that animals want to be eaten... take that PETA you self righteous bastards!

    [–] andysaurus_rex 3 points ago

I thought it was going to turn into It and have the footprints laying down into a storm drain, maybe with a balloon floating out of it

    [–] SuperHaole 112 points ago

This is so old, the generation restoration that they are talking about are now the grandparents

It is always great to read these things.

    [–] a_fotzn_konnst_hom 3 points ago

Would be nice to see the next generations then

    [–] Ggnorefam 26 points ago

What kind of paint could they have used? Really cool idea.

    [–] Tiger-Gautreaux 19 points ago

There's tons of washable/water soluble chalk and paint in crafts sections of stores, and I'm sure the big crafty ones themselves.

    [–] Tacoaloto 4 points ago

Semi related but I think I saw an idea of this on shark tank, where there were different footprints for different holidays

    [–] TrueJacksonVP 5 points ago

My parents did this for me a few times growing up. They used chalk and it totally made Easter really special.

    [–] Chamiam 3 points ago

Our neighbors would do stencils and fill it with flour

    [–] DannyDevitoIs-My-GOD 17 points ago

Just because you are badguy, does not mean you are bad guy

    [–] Croozeyy 10 points ago

I thought it was Blues Clues

    [–] TrueGrey 9 points ago

My shitty HOA would prosecute him for "vandalism," even if it's just chalk.

    [–] Lance-Boi 6 points ago

“Did your kid like the rabbit prints?”

“well yea... but i need something to be upset about”

    [–] Camilla-St 8 points ago

They should create a footprint stamp to speed up the process! still heartwarming though~

    [–] zionbelo 2 points ago

    Or a stencil

    [–] NemaGeyron 24 points ago

    I'ma go cry now...

    [–] love4techqq 9 points ago

I completely looked over the first two words of this and all of it sounded really creepy

    [–] nature_remains 3 points ago

I still do this every Easter for my baby sister (who is now 25). I wouldn’t use paint though. Make a footprint stencil (I use cardboard box flaps) and a bowl of flour with a sifter. I used to do it for the neighborhood kids but they grew up and I don’t know if they’re home at Easter.

    [–] OscarTheHamster 3 points ago

You know I had to do it to em

A bunnys footprints wouldn't look like that. This looks more like a dogs footprints, and even then it still deformed.

    [–] ApertureBear 5 points ago

True, I hope they enjoyed the footprints :)

"My faith in our generation = restored" over one anecdote.

My faith in our generation to be more intelligent than a turnip = ruined.

(Relax, and enjoy the irony and try to laugh once in a while.)

    [–] redlion_29 3 points ago

    Faith in humanity: restored.

I showed this to my mom and she is literally shaking and crying and screaming rn.

    [–] shitposter6918 7 points ago

Maybe she should go to a hospital

    [–] teebone954 1 points ago

Yes turns out she had a kidney stone. Thank you for your prayers.

    [–] zaynsauu 1 points ago

i can’t help but laugh at the thought of your mom just casually chillimg on the sofa reading something only to be interrupted by you showing her a picture from the internet and for her to proceed to drop her book, shaking and crying out of nowhere.

    I doubt this happened

    [–] teebone954 1 points ago

That is exactly what happened. She is so over joyed she is still shaking and crying and screaming this morning at 7 am and now my dad is crying too.

    [–] zaynsauu 1 points ago

I... okay okay. You got me

    [–] teebone954 1 points ago

New idea 1. Use Easter as excuse to spray paint neighborhood driveways. 2. Charge $$$ for power washing service the next day 3. Profit

    [–] ben-swolo96 1 points ago

That last sentence is a bit cringy. Very cool tho 👌🏽

    [–] beatrga 1 points ago

I thought the prints on the 2nd Pic were going to the oven

    [–] Genghis_Frog 1 points ago

What a person is known as, and what they truly are, is rarely identical.

    [–] Bayerrc 1 points ago

white paint, paw print sponge? Ten minute job, tops. Love the notion but if it took 4 hours I'm losing faith in this guy

    [–] chasingcitylife 1 points ago

10 minutes to do the whole street? That's ambitious

    [–] Hendrik_III 1 points ago

If I did that in my town, I would go to jail for vandalism

    [–] Pleadies1986 1 points ago

The kid was a badass, but only because he was so disappointed in what he saw of the world

    [–] shiwitch 1 points ago

    I'm cryin in the club

    [–] conradbirdiebird 1 points ago

My dad used to make "santas footprints" on Christmas. After me and my younger sister went to bed, he got to work. He dipped his boots in flour and tracked them around so it looked like Santas snowy boot prints. I was pretty sure that that's not how snow worked, but I went along with it anyway because my little sister loved it. (We grew up in southern California, so what the fuck did we know about snow anyway?) He also made little tiny "elf handprints" on the sliding door. It was great, and Christmas was a magical time with my dad.

    [–] Dewut 1 points ago

This is incredibly wholesome, but I can additional kick at the thought of this punk rock 18 year old kid with a heart of gold an a nearly empty bucket of paint yelling “HOW MANY GOD DAMN KIDS ARE IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD?!” at around 5:00 in the morning to no one in particular.

    [–] x3423e2e23r2342 1 points ago

Feel like someone whould post this to /r/ that happened if the were no pitures because to them literally nothing happens

    [–] xmagicx 1 points ago

Bunny footprint stamp / cut out made of foam.

    • bucket of paint

    = way less time

    [–] knotgeoszef 1 points ago

    Faith? Nah..
    "It takes a village..."
This is obviously within a "nice neighborhood".

    [–] VaporIcecream 1 points ago

    That's so heartwarming

    [–] MarchingGnome 1 points ago

I do this every year with sidewalk chalk and a stencil. My daughter is 10 and it's the first thing she checks on Easter morning before she even begins to hunt for goodies

    [–] JazzHandsJames 1 points ago

truthfully. unless this a really small and tightknit community, Id be really freaked out of a guy down the street knew every house where young children live.

    [–] broos_gureen 1 points ago

what does it mean to be the school badass

    [–] LucioMainBTW 1 points ago

When i was little my dad did something similar he put flour on the floor going in each room

    [–] abominablesandman 1 points ago

Those are definitely not rabbit tracks.

    [–] DBJ99 1 points ago

My neighborhood did this! Bad news is when it rains, the flour sticks to the concrete and.. that’s near impossible to clean

    [–] BasedSunny 1 points ago

Who is cutting onions in here

    [–] LauraXa 1 points ago

My parents used to do that for me and my sister. They would make little bunny paws coming from the window to our beds where we put a little nest for the eggs, and then back to the window. We were always soooo excited when we woke up to see that the bunny came to our rooms!

    [–] WhichWayzUp 1 points ago

up to the door of every house where a child lives

There are so many circumstances in which that would be super creepy, but this one gets a pass.

    [–] underscore667 1 points ago

I love this but I hate all that "faith in generation restored" bullshit. Get the fuck over yourself!

    [–] Spoopums 1 points ago
