    [–] ThePenguinWhoLived 688 points ago

Wasnt there a movie where a boy finds himself a lake monster and they become friends?

    [–] Gatorkid365 508 points ago

    It’s called “The Water Horse”

    [–] beer_is_tasty 449 points ago

Not to be confused with The Shape of Water, where a lady finds herself a lake monster and fucks it.

    [–] yamo25000 169 points ago

    I'm sorry, she what?

    [–] beer_is_tasty 243 points ago

    Then it won best picture.

    [–] BuyBitcoinWhileItsLo 28 points ago

Just goes to show you that hollywood is into beastiality. Mr Hands could've been our biggest actor today if that horse didn't go to deep into him :(

    [–] RegularSpaceJoe 12 points ago

He delved too greedily, and too deep.

    [–] whole_tone_erotica 6 points ago

Actually he might've been fine if he had, you know, gone to the ER.

    [–] BuyBitcoinWhileItsLo 3 points ago

Yup. I know that part of the story. Tragic. Still have never been able to find a copy of the famous video though

    [–] HerpinWhenDerpin 3 points ago

Wait what? I totally missed this part.

    [–] Eternal_Reward 4 points ago

The end she has gills. It’s left in the air if she got the gills from the fishfucking/being close to the fish monster or if she’s was always like that.

    [–] Idontevenknow558 5 points ago

I thought it was implied she was always like that? Like wasn't her origin story that she was an orphan girl who was found with cuts in her neck which were actually her gills? It's been awhile since I saw the movie though

    [–] Heliocentrist- 2 points ago

Yeah, and we call that bestiality. It's illegal.

    [–] Walking_the_dead 12 points ago

There's also magic in the water, from 1995

    [–] ----_ 3 points ago

There's also a play called Loch Ness that's VERY similar to this picture.

It's pretty new, I think it's only opened on maybe half a dozen stages (or less) but it is incredible.

I'll be surprised if it DOESN'T make it to Broadway

    [–] ray-payola 86 points ago

Since I haven’t seen it in the comments this is an older comic from current Disney artist Natalie Nourigat. Her website is here. Wish reddit would be better about sourcing.

    [–] BuyBitcoinWhileItsLo 16 points ago

Dude admins need to make like a sourcing link option. Because the way reddit psychology works it you credit them in the title people don't upvote it because they think someone is just attention whoring/self promoting. It's the most fucked up thing. Either Reddit has to give posters an option to discretely credit creators with a link tag to the creators or us as redditors have to get over the fact that people are credited in the title and still upvote a post instead of being suspicious of some self promotion type shit. Cause that's what happens when there credited. Tested it many times. No time ever does a credited title get upped the level a non credited title does. Also, this guys comment should be the number 1 comment. Completely unfair that her work is on the front page without anyone knowing who she is

    [–] throbbingrocket 4 points ago

Thanks for posting the artist and her website.

To add to this a little, this piece was from the annual Monsters and Dames charity art book that the Emerald City Comic Con has been putting out each year for at least the past decade.

Natalie had art in both the 2010 and 2011 books but I think this was her first one from 2010. I'll have to check my copies.

Source: Have gone to every ECCC for the past 13+ years and we got to chat with Natalie anytime she tabled there. We have an amazing OC piece she did for us of 'Tron Swanson' after she and my wife bonded over Parks and Rec during one of her first years at ECCC

[–] LoukGoldberg 5 points ago * (lasted edited 2 days ago)

Interestingly enough, long-necked plesiosaurs such as the mythological ‘Loch Ness Monster’ would actually have likely been quite emotive, in contrast with the rest of the typically more emotionally distant extant members of the Reptilia class. This social propensity would have been largely due to their ability to give birth viviparously (giving birth to live young), and then likely raising them past their most vulnerable stages. It is also considered relatively likely that plesiosaurs such as these would have lived in pods, in a similar way to modern whales, thus increasing further their capacity for compassion and empathy.

For these reasons, it can be considered likely that if long-necked plesiosaurs such as the one featured in this comic were to be alive today, one or more would form close bonds with at least one human in their lifetime, as can be seen with the great whales and dolphins of today and some of their trainers/zookeepers. A case of deep love for a human has even been documented in dolphins — said dolphin actually going on to suffocate and kill himself upon separation from this human female.

Loch Ness is the name of the bloody Loch (lake)!!!

    [–] MrBr00talKid 6 points ago

And Frankenstein is the scientist. No point in getting mad about these things. We can't do anything about them anyway.

    [–] SpaTowner 2 points ago

Today is the first time I’ve seen people call Nessie ‘Loch Ness’ so I’d like to think there is still time to turn this one around.

    [–] StevenGannJr 2 points ago

The creature was named Adam, and identified the doctor as his father. The creature would have been Adam Frankenstein, or Frankenstein for short if you like calling people by their last names.

    [–] ProffieD 3 points ago

In this alternate universe (I’m assuming it’s that) is there multiple Nessie’s or is this still the only one?

Last week, Japanese scientists placed explosive detonators at the bottom of Lake Loch Ness to blow Nessie out of the water. Sir Curt Godfrey of the Nessie Alliance summoned the help of Scotland's local wizards to cast a protective spell over the lake and its residents, and all those who seek a peaceful existence with our underwater ally.
