[–] At Secretive Retreat, Evangelicals Celebrate Brett Kavanaugh’s Confirmation 2legit2fart 1 points ago in politics

To CNP founding member and Texas oil fortune heir T. Cullen Davis, Kavanaugh’s vote on the Supreme Court will help protect the religious liberties that the CNP perceives to be under attack at schools. “On the particular issue of prayer of school, they’re teaching the Muslim religion in school now, but they can’t say the name Jesus,” Davis said. “It’s a tragedy. I would like to see prayer back in school.”

Why are the richest people in America so fucking dumb?

This isn’t a Christian country. It’s a capitalist country that sells Christianity.

[–] What's the best response to "why are you so quiet'? 2legit2fart 4 points ago in AskReddit

It’s kind of a rude question. Would you ask someone why are you always talking?

[–] The President of the United States Just Explicitly Endorsed Political Violence 2legit2fart 0 points ago in politics

Have any of you seen American Horror Story, Cult? Granted I’m watching a few years late, but it’s spookily prescient. (Unintended but accurate pun).

Anyway, we should keep in mind that there weren’t that many years between when Hitler came to power and Dresden was firebombed. 1936 Jesse Owens dominates at the Berlin Olympics. 1937, Buchenwald opens.

[–] Saudi Arabia reportedly plans to admit Khashoggi was murdered and use a 2-star general as a scapegoat 2legit2fart 1 points ago in worldnews

Unnamed because they haven’t decided who they want to blame yet? Ok...

I still think Turkey and the US are/were in on it.

[–] America Doesn't Need Allies Who Torture and Murder Journalists 2legit2fart 1 points ago in politics

America doesn’t need allies that use American weapons to destroy UNESCO world heritage sites (SA in Yemen), or deny human rights and freedoms to people by forcing them to live in ever smaller areas of land (Israel), or engage in blatant grabs of power and repression (Turkey).

Seems like America is happy to have “allies” that suit them when needed.

[–] After not colluding with Russia, Trump is now not colluding with Saudi Arabia 2legit2fart 1 points ago in politics

Or Turkey. Could be colluding with Turkey to blackmail Saudi Arabia, to get better terms for a “deal”. Maybe SA knows too much about hotel expenses...Maybe someone gave the orange gorilla the idea to “steal the oil”.

He seems to like autocrats like Erdogan and like the crown prince.

[–] Why Snowpiercer is a sequel to Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory [14:47] 2legit2fart 1 points ago in mealtimevideos

It’s also a train. The entire setting makes no sense. Where do these people live? How do they get supplies from the front to back without bumping into each other?

Just the fact that it’s a sci-fi movie, in which itw own fictional world is not internally consistent, makes it a bad movie.

[–] America’s $1.5 trillion student debt is a ‘failed social experiment’ 2legit2fart 3 points ago in Economics

Why do people feel that a degree makes someone special? It’s just extra education, tailored for a specific industry or field of study.

[–] America’s $1.5 trillion student debt is a ‘failed social experiment’ 2legit2fart 1 points ago in Economics

You’ve been drinking some kind of koolaid, but you also made some good points.

    • Not everyone that gets a student loan is a “kid”. Lots of people get professional degrees or go into fields that need licenses.

    • There’s no such degree as “worthless” and that’s a terrible attitude.

College is now like a 4 year resort instead of a frugal learning experience like it should be.

I don’t know about this resort idea. But I do agree that many schools focus on amenities — in part because they want to lure those government checks.

But yes, the biggest problem is the interest. Let people borrow as much as they want but just pay back principle. Of course, they couldn’t sell this debt as government bonds if there was no interest.

[–] Body of missing Saudi journalist was cut into pieces, Turkish official says 2legit2fart 0 points ago in politics

My guess is there’s colliding going on between the US, Turkey, and SA — don’t know who is playing who.

This one journalist disappeared? This is Turkey. They’ve jailed hundreds of professors and journalists over the past few years. SA religious extremists are known to behead people on the street. The crown prince just extorted his own family.

Why all this craziness for this one guy? Who is he? Why is he so important? What about all the other people who have been disappeared?
