Idk I just thought you were just trying to say that I wouldn't know what I'm talking about or something. I probably misread that lol.

I just meant that institutionalized racism hides nowadays under covers like "the war on drugs" instead of being so blatant and out in the open like it was back in the day. You're right that that just makes it more dangerous, but I still see it as reason to feel encouraged that things may be headed in the right direction. It's a slow uphill battle I guess, because it requires a large scale shift in thinking by society at large. You can't kill racism overnight, and it may never go away completely, but it's still worth standing for equality.

The Clarks' doll experiments grew out of Mamie Clark's master's degree thesis. They published three major papers between 1939 and 1940 on children's self-perception related to race. Their studies found contrasts among African-American children attending segregated schools in Washington, DC versus those in integrated schools in New York.[25] The doll experiment involved a child being presented with two dolls. Both of these dolls were completely identical except for the skin and hair color. One doll was white with yellow hair, while the other was brown with black hair.[26] The child was then asked questions inquiring as to which one is the doll they would play with, which one is the nice doll, which one looks bad, which one has the nicer color, etc. The experiment showed a clear preference for the white doll among all children in the study.[27] These findings exposed internalized racism in African-American children, self-hatred that was more acute among children attending segregated schools[citation needed]. This research also paved the way for an increase in psychological research into areas of self-esteem and self-concept.[8]

It actually played a role in the decision to end segregation in schools.

You seem really up and arms about everything in this thread. I don't know why you think you need to be up in arms about every comment you read in a casual discussion, but you should consider taking it down a notch.

No he isn't. He's saying it as a parable. He means that even if the father had assaulted somebody for the rape of his daughter, the law is quite clear that isn't allowed. But a jury may still find the father innocent because of the extenuating circumstances. It's a parable. He's not comparing this hypothetical scenario with the wrestling match scenario directly, just using a new and imaginary story to illustrate his point better.

What? Bezos is a person. The company he owns the controlling share of probably as much weight to throw around as Disney has. It will be interesting to see, but also really depressing, like vultures coming to call on a freshly dead person.

It's just bottom of the barrel as far as entertainment goes. They want to appeal to as broad of audience as they possibly can, and they seem to rely on a sort of formula for their movies in order to make that happen. I like some of these movies a good deal, but there's no denying that they're very predictable and formulaic overall. It's all very fun and it's comfortable but the mcu isn't really pushing many boundaries, they just stick to the formula. It's a huge money maker and will continue to be for a long while to come, but it does make you wish they would break from the pattern a little more often. Some of the standalone movies are also pretty decent, but a lot of them lately have just felt really played out.
