[–] Skiing an Alpine Ice Route on Mt. Victoria, Canada AlligatorDeathSaw 2 points ago in alpinism

Good work! North summit actually looks like its steeper than I would've imagined, but the skiing looked pretty straightforward. When did you hit it?

I've always had a hard-on for the sickle though after watching Greg's old video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJ2aBWLWkZs

But it's hard having much enthusiasm about that now after what happened last year

[–] Men with man buns: why? AlligatorDeathSaw 1 points ago in AskReddit

Yeah, that's what I'd do although I would tend to put it in a bun. And then everyone was like, "AlligatorDeathSaw you're so TRENDY with your MANBUN" and I was like "Why are you making this a thing"

[–] Other than money, what would you want an unlimited supply of? AlligatorDeathSaw 1 points ago in AskReddit

True, but more effective than planes which basically can only land at airports. I can still use a car if I need to by the way

[–] Men with man buns: why? AlligatorDeathSaw 2 points ago in AskReddit

Because my hair got long and it was so much better when it was not in my face

[–] Alex Megos on the first ascent of Fight Club, 5.15b AlligatorDeathSaw 10 points ago in climbing

True and also, this crag is an hour hike from the road and no major trails nearby. I doubt anyone will care.

That's not true. There is an 8 pitch 5.9 to the lookers left, which I have personally climbed twice. It is a great climb, you should check it out

    Relevant:

"The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which low-ability individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability as much higher than it really is. Psychologists David Dunning and Justin Kruger attributed this bias to a metacognitive incapacity, on the part of those with low ability, to recognize their ineptitude and evaluate their competence accurately. Their research also suggests corollaries: high-ability individuals may underestimate their relative competence and may erroneously assume that tasks which are easy for them are also easy for others"

[–] Other than money, what would you want an unlimited supply of? AlligatorDeathSaw 45 points ago in AskReddit

Helicopter flights. Pick and drop off wherever and whenever I need. Essentially the most effective form of travel.

[–] New ski advice AlligatorDeathSaw 0 points ago in skiing

I honestly just ski Renegades/Hojis everywhere haha. Im sure you could do the same. But I hate line skis personally so I wouldn't recommend a pair to anyone

Oh you were that guy. We watched your crash at wrangle sitting in our buddies' hotel room like 15 times. It was hilarious. I hope it didn't hurt

[–] Ski Jacket Question AlligatorDeathSaw 1 points ago in skiing

So the reason your legs are getting sweaty is because of the 3 layers. Try just boxer briefs and your looser long Johns under you ski pants. Or boxer briefs and base layer. I would only wear that many layers when its like -30F.

On the warmest days, I'll wear only boxer briefs and ski pants

You definitely should try wearing less

[–] Ski Jacket Question AlligatorDeathSaw 3 points ago in skiing

Arc'teryx makes great outerwear. I don't know anything about frauenschuh but Spyder makes really trash, overpriced gear. Do not buy spyder!

    1)I have 4 layers

    1. Synthetic baselayer or T-shirt
    2. Light synthetic sweater zip up
    3. Puff
    4. Oakley Shell

Then I mix and match. and this works between -35F-50F

The trick to layering at the ski hill is to always stay slightly cold. If you're toasty or comfortable as you get off the lift, something probably isn't right. But if you're still cold as you reach the lift then consider layering up.

    1. On the hottest days, I would wear a t-shirt (cotton is fine when its definitely above 10F imo), maybe my light synthetic sweater and my shell. It usually works great. If I'm REALLY Too hot, then a t-shirt with a shell will also work.

Get the arc'teryx, I wouldn't waste my money on spyder.

    1. What do you wear underneath you ski pants? I wear only ever boxer briefs and very light but slightly loose long underwear

[–] Skiing in/around Glacier NP? AlligatorDeathSaw 1 points ago in skiing

Which one? The canadian Glacier National Park or the american? The canadian one has tons of skiing straight off the highway

[–] Going to Revelstoke/Big White, any insider tips, favourite run, or general advice? AlligatorDeathSaw 1 points ago in skiing

Revelstoke: Ski only The Stoke. Ski Separate Reality, Vertigo, Sweet Spot to Three Bears then Lemming Line to Gracias Ridge in that order. If you're having a lot of fun in one spot, no need to move. Also, when you ski three bears make sure you keep left at the end in order to catch the goldilocks traverse. It's a short sidestep that prevents you from getting sucked into north bowl drainage.

When you ski separate reality and vertigo, ski up onto the cattrack at the end and follow it as it trends left. Follow it to and past an opening and duck into 'tasty glades'. Steep glades take you straight to the park

Don't go below the stoke, Jalapeno/Hot Sauce can be fun too. If you're touring, turn right off the stoke and follow the cat track until it ends.

Hey, first of all, good work! This is awesome! And if this Magnar, it was good meeting you this year! Bummed we didn't get to ski around much together. Also, Dev said he left his shit in Revy and you guys know where it is. Anyways, I'll PROBABLY be in Roger's Pass this weekend, so maybe we can sort something out so he can get his shit back!

I'm not sure where you're getting you numbers but in 2015 (the most recent available data) the US dept. of labor reported 93% of workplace deaths are male. I still get your point though

Edit: You're also blatantly wrong about the prison population. According to the bureau of justice statistics in 2013, 18% of incarcerated individuals were female. Whoever is giving you your info is full of shit.
