When the space between lines is less than the space between letters, the eye will track vertically.

Edit: I mean, it’s also Common Fate gestalt principle. The letters are bound by proximity.

Circle game. “The game” is when you’re reminded of the game and thus lose until you forget the game again.

I have a habit of trying to mind my own business or defer to people more affected by these issues but I’m very interested in understanding the debate. I’ve encountered women who have made the tough decisions regarding raising a child with down syndrome. Both had powerful arguments for and against. I also know someone who has flat out used it for birth control multiple times and that doesn’t sit very well with me.

I’ll have a look. Thanks for the reference.

"Steelmanning" is great way to keep the door open on these topics. As a long-time pro-choice person, if you dig into the studies about abortion, it gets dark really fucking fast. But I'm not yet willing to go anti-choice (pro-life is a baited term) when factoring in accidents, rape, etc. It's a brutal surgery and convenience isn't a great argument to me. (And are we going to even talk about miscarriage? Because that's super common.)

It's a very very complex subject and so galvanizing each point of view is to me, the better way to get to something that takes personal responsibility into consideration AND ALSO, doesn't unnecessarily ruin or restrict lives.

I might get blasted for this, but I recommend everyone spend a good deal of time self-reflecting and also researching in good faith. Try to prove yourself wrong and suspend your own position.

Good example. Everything else from El Chilito is on point though.

[–] Huskey throws a tantrum because he has to leave the dog park AptMoniker 6 points ago in PublicFreakout

People are just not into your tone, I think. BUT, there are a number of fair assertions you're making. We're seeing a dog misbehaving (hilariously), at a dog park where interacting with other dogs is going to happen, with a leash that is proven to work for only really well-trained dogs.

I have a harness for when my dog wants to run alongside my skateboard and gentle lead for walking. 6-foot non-retractible leash. Let's just hope that's not their ONLY leash. I guess the bright side is that at least they have a leash, right? My area has a big problem with dog owners letting their dog run off leash and it's a fucking nightmare.

Fuck yeah. A bamboozler! A good friend of mine built one and loved it. They're neat.

[–] Can't decide which is more crappy: Google Home Hub or the EU adapter AptMoniker 6 points ago in CrappyDesign

It’s not the adapter’s fault. It’s that stupid big ass plug fucking up the adapter’s street cred.

[–] My new Bridgestone AptMoniker 9 points ago in FixedGearBicycle

I think they're just stating the obvious. There is a large range of fantastic options in-between thick slicks and tubular tires that greatly improve the ride quality. Ride whatever you want but it's a fair observation. I'm assuming you have cages as well since the fork doesn't have brake mounting as an easy option.

    Lovely bike.

[–] Digital screens for drink refrigerators in a drug store AptMoniker 2 points ago in mildlyinteresting

I think you misunderstood the real question the person above was asking. What are the benefits of this type of fridge versus the traditional clear glass fridge, might’ve been a better way to phrase it.

I’m guessing slightly better efficiency but mostly the shiny tech factor.

Absolutely understand. Nice parts sometimes fall into your lap and it'd be dumb to just use them.

That Laser isn't mine. I posted it as a find. But I have plenty of sexy bikes. ;)

Very nice. Great build. Would be cool to maybe swap that thomson post for a Nitto stem seatpost combo because A E S T H E T I C S. But I'm a total hypocrite when it comes to that...I have Phil open pros on an NJS frame. :P

[–] Dope fixie: $700. Kryptonite lock: $100. Learning the hard way to lock up your frame instead of your wheel: PRICELESS. AptMoniker 3 points ago in FixedGearBicycle

Pinhead locking skewers are great and I've been tempted to just lock the wheel when no room in a rack but I still don't want someone THINKING they can take it. I've come back to find that someone tried and gave up on an Onguard Rottweiler armored cable lock... terrible feeling.

Oh god dammit you're right. OR here's the new one: Contrails AND chemtrails exist. The scientists realized that they could use the public's knowledge of contrails to do gEoThErmAl EnGiNeeRing To cOnTrol wEatheR. YOU CAN TELL THAT THEY'RE REAL CHEMTRAILS BECAUSE IT GETS OVERCAST AFTERWARDS.

The flailing about at the end was a lovely touch. Rooting around in a sink like a barbarian for internet points... 10/10 would hate it again.

+1 on the spacer advice. I had a setup like yours and it was not ideal—lots of bar slipping. I've had shit luck with shims. You can get those spacers on ebay for a few bucks.
