[–] Explaining Stuff About What Happened to Harvest Moon and Rune Factory Asmo___deus 1 points ago in NintendoSwitch

I accidentally tamed two of the giant chickens in the cave to the south of the village in RF4. Those monsters were like level 40 or so but their stats are insane do they basically carried me halfway through the first act.

The year 1 pet battle festival was a joke.

I'm not sure if that's in every single one of them but it is definitely in three and four. You can take any villager (excluding the geriatric ones) and any monsters you tamed with you.

Here's how I explain it: Stardew valley is a labour of love by one person who took only the best parts of Harvest Moon, and added some combat and RPG elements to it.

Now imagine a professional team from Japan which follows the exact same process. That's Rune Factory.

Oh for a second I thought you wanted to fuck a middle aged woman. I mean I'm bi so I get it, but I'm still surprised.

[–] PSA: halflings are smaller than gnomes Asmo___deus 0 points ago * (lasted edited 15 hours ago) in dndnext

In a lot of European folklore, gnomes are only about as tall as a finger.

I figure that's why to a lot of people, gnomes feel like they should be much smaller.

[–] Your level 4 wizard has asked you to use their downtown to go to school (through a crystal ball). How do you reward them? Asmo___deus 2 points ago in DnD

That mostly depends on what you're giving the other characters for their downtime activities.

The standard reward for wizards is to just let them learn more spells.

Okay so there are two problems here.

For one, ability checks can't create miracles. Rolling a 20 means you do the absolute best that you can do. If you are a rogue with expertise in stealth and 30 dexterity, then rolling a 20 means you are nearly invisible - but you still can't walk right past a lantern and expect to remain hidden - you'd be plainly visible no matter how good you are.

Similarly, rolling a 20 on persuasion doesn't mean you automatically succeed. If you're trying to get a merchant to give you a free sample, then sure, here's an apple. If you're trying to convince your travelling companion to part with their family heirloom, then no, that's just not going to happen. Just like the master thief who can't hide in plain sight, even someone with a silver tongue doesn't have complete control over someone else's actions.

Problem two, is that D&D is a cooperative game, and this tiefling isn't being very cooperative. A lot of DMs explicitly forbid player versus player actions, and for good reason - it keeps the party stable and happy. (In D&D, PvP canean anything from drawing your sword on another player's character, to rolling deception versus their insight. They're all player versus player)

Personally I think that PvP, if you allow it, should always be in good faith. PCs can mess with eachother, but if they actively sabotage each other you put a stop to it.

[–] I ruined my high school bully's life Asmo___deus 12 points ago in confession

The only "evidence" for him being a nice guy was that he was no longer ugly, and had a girlfriend. We also know that he bragged about cheating on his exams.

The way I see it, that's zero points for him being nice, and one point for him being an asshole. Being handsome and having a girlfriend says absolutely nothing about your character. Being a braggart, does.

If he did change, he either did not care enough to apologise, or he forgot about the girl he tormented for years on end. If he had confessed his mistakes, apologised, then followed through and made up for them, that would be one thing. But he didn't.

You only become a better person if you own up to your mistakes. If you swipe them under the rug, if you bury them and hope people just forget about them, then you are still every bit the miscreant you used to be, and deserve no sympathy.

I can't believe he caught that spinning platform cycle - pretty sure that's a frame perfect jump.

[–] Mommy, I have a crush that I can’t get rid of. Asmo___deus 1 points ago * (lasted edited a day ago) in MomForAMinute

Can I be your brother for a minute?

You sound like a girl I knew when I was in high school. She had short dark hair, and she was kind of mousy. Short, a little too thin, and very timid. Insecure. I knew she was into games and fantasy books, and since that was pretty much all she talked about at school, when she did talk, I assumed that was 'who she was' - the plain girl who gamed and read. She didn't really like hanging out so she didn't have many friends, if any. I wasn't one of them, in any case.

In our senior year, she asked me out. Or well, I say out, but she asked me to play games with her. So she asked me... in? And we did. It was lovely. I found that this girl, whom I thought I had figured out, was much more intetesting than she seemed. She knew everything there was to know about games and airplanes - she wanted to become a pilot, or failing that, a flight attendant - and once she opened up a little, she was a wonderful girl.

What I'm trying to say is, you are more than just your appearance - and to be honest I'm not even convinced that you're ugly, I think you're selling yourself short there. If people don't pay attention to you, chances are they just don't really know you, so they ignore you. And it's going to stay that way until you do something.

This boy needs to give you a chance and get to know you, and if he doesn't, then he is the one who is missing out. But I'm sure he will, if you try, because you're a lovely girl and you deserve to be loved. You will be loved.

Just because I disagree with you doesn't mean I hate your nation or seek excuse to shit on it. Chill out dude.

[–] Why do people wear shoes in the house? Asmo___deus 8 points ago in NoStupidQuestions

Dude obviously some Europeans do wear shoes inside, just like some Americans do take them off.

That said, I have been to more than half of all European countries, and in my experience all of them have a 'shoes off' culture.

[–] Find Familiar Mounting? Asmo___deus 1 points ago in DnD

Pseudo dragons have 6 strength, so they could actually carry a halfling or gnome without too much trouble. Also, once you're in the air the familiar would technically seen have cover, using you as a shield.
