[–] So awhile ago I went into Walmart to get a pregnancy test. Bellowery 3 points ago in TwoXChromosomes

I had the same thing happen but I was trying to have a baby and couldn’t. It was just as comforting from the other side.

[–] AITA for asking my girlfriend to stop discussing our intimate life outside our relationship? Bellowery 1 points ago in AmItheAsshole

YTA and from the title I was ready to say NTA. Therapy is a place where anything and everything you need to talk about can come out without shame or pretense. You’re asking her not to get the mental healthcare she needs because you are embarrassed that a professional in a confidential environment will know about your girlfriend’s sexual and emotional health.

[–] Mods are asleep, upvote gatekeeping goose Bellowery 2 points ago in gatekeeping

Somebody in another thread also worked there, but for longer than I did. Apparently, it came back every year for awhile.

I worked in that building. There was a preserve next door and nobody was allowed to pester or touch them. From what I understood not even in self-defense.

I worked in that building when the goose was there. It was illegal to touch the goose. It got so aggressive one night that security called the cops. The security guard was injured by a nightstick and the sign went up the next day.

I worked at that building when the goose was there. It was really REALLY mean. One night it was so aggressive that security called the cops. I wasn’t there for it, but the security guard ended up being hit in the head with a cop’s nightstick while they were trying to scare the goose away from the door. The sign went up the next day. George was an asshole!

[–] My tattoos mean I’ve “acclimated to the world.” Bellowery 47 points ago in JUSTNOFAMILY

My dad is a Protestant Hebrew Professor, it is much to his chagrin that he cant give me shit for my nose ring. In Song of Solomon and Proverbs Solomon honors a virtuous woman by putting a jewel in her nose. He wasn’t shoving emeralds up women’s nostrils. When I said this to my mom she freaked out and my dad just sat really quietly. When my mom asked him to help her argue with me he was like, “Well she’s not wrong. I don’t like it, but I didn’t like her blue hair either. I’m not going to condemn an adult for style choices.” (I was 19)

[–] Haha I love this! Bellowery 6 points ago in bipolar

Rabbit. The perfectionist who never rests from trying to perfect everything around him, but he’s dragged down by all the idiots who surround him keeping his world from being perfect.

[–] What’s the deal with the okay sign being associated with white supremacy? Bellowery 2 points ago * (lasted edited a month ago) in OutOfTheLoop

In Portland, Oregon in 2017 some people dressed up as clowns and chased people. The police were concerned and warning people to avoid the clowns. Then one day it just stopped, never heard about it again.

Edit to Add: It may have been fall 2016 not 2017.

[–] AITA for not wanting my boyfriend to give his Sperm to his lesbian friend and her wife? Bellowery 0 points ago in AmItheAsshole

You can do all the same paperwork in a lawyer’s office that you can do at a sperm bank. Yes, if the BF just came in a cup and handed it over he would in fact be responsible for child support. The sperm bank has the paperwork and legal advice available to patients as a convenience, not a legal necessity.

[–] AITA for not wanting my boyfriend to give his Sperm to his lesbian friend and her wife? Bellowery -26 points ago in AmItheAsshole

That is absolutely untrue. There is simple paperwork done before the conception. It is as difficult as signing any other legal contract. It is no longer a complicated legal mess because the precedents and laws have caught up to practices.

[–] What’s going on with College’s and parents paying fee’s? I am so utterly confused Bellowery 1 points ago in OutOfTheLoop

One thing gets me. Felicity Huffman is married to William H. Macy. And they are his kids with his last name. Why is she the one whose name is splashed everywhere and very few articles mention him?

[–] TV reboot Bellowery 2 points ago in dresdenfiles

I have no idea what to expect for The Orville. On one hand, it is sci-fi on Fox, so I’m nervous. On the other hand, it’s Seth MacFarlane on Fox, so it might run for 15 years.

[–] A cafe in Japan is hiring paralyzed people to to control robot servers in order to still make an income. Bellowery 0 points ago in pics

I’ve never felt more worthless than when I was a server. So now, after being paralyzed and separated from society at large, they don’t have to miss the joy of being dehumanized as a proud member of the service industry.

Thomas Jefferson called it the “Tyranny of the Dead.”

[–] AITA for refusing to lift something heavy for a woman as a man? Bellowery 3 points ago in AmItheAsshole

I worked at a job where the IT department were the unofficial handipersons. The owners were old and legitimately thought this was normal, because they make stuff work they must make everything work. They also didn’t think there was much for IT to do because they didn’t understand how computer dependent their company was. Two men and 1 woman, setting up those cubical wall things, fixing the coffee maker, etc. I don’t think they actually hung shelves though.

[–] I found out something terrible about a church member. My family now thinks I'm being irrational Bellowery 3 points ago in JUSTNOFAMILY

My Orthodox church had a child molester start attending and we have a lot of children. The church council contacted a different church they knew to be almost entirely old couples. Our priest met with the man and the other priest and he was welcome to join the other church but he was not welcome in a church with dozens of children running around.

Someone further up quoted James 5. That one makes Evangelicals squirm.

[–] AITA for telling my friend I didn’t appreciate paying for a $200 meal at her husband’s birthday party? Bellowery 1 points ago * (lasted edited 2 months ago) in AmItheAsshole

NTA - As poorly as she’s handling this she is the asshole, but I wonder if she’s embarrassed. Maybe he told her not to pay the whole thing but she just went ahead with it, thinking he wouldn’t do exactly what he did. I would be completely mortified and avoiding my friends if it were me.

    Edit: “it”

[–] AITA to be creeped out by how a waiter treated my daughter and for making her say thank you? Bellowery 2 points ago in AmItheAsshole

As I said in another response in this thread, this is exactly what I do! By cruel I meant punishing or disallowing them from saying hello. There is a response in this thread that says they should be taught to only speak to their parents. I tell them we are interrupting and we should <insert distraction>. If the person enjoys speaking to children they are free to say we aren’t interrupting, that is usually women over 50. People generally smile and wave and go back to what they’re doing. Twice I have had people say something under their breath.

[–] AITA to be creeped out by how a waiter treated my daughter and for making her say thank you? Bellowery 1 points ago in AmItheAsshole

That’s exactly what I do!!!!! I don’t punish them when they say hello to someone. A lot of the comments have quite literally said children should never speak to anyone but their parents. You can check this thread and find one.

When she says hello my response is “Honey, I think we’re interrupting/distracting them and that’s not polite. Why don’t we <insert distraction> ?” All but twice the person has smiled and waved or said hello back. Some, mostly woman over 50, actually stop and have full conversations. I didn’t think anybody wanted to read a novel about my kid saying hello to people so I didn’t spell it out.

[–] AITA to be creeped out by how a waiter treated my daughter and for making her say thank you? Bellowery 5 points ago in AmItheAsshole

My daughter is the same age as OP’s and does the same thing. I almost always mouth “Sorry” and do my best to shorten the conversation without being cruel to a child who is trying to be kind. There have been exactly 2 times the person didn’t say something to the effect of “It’s fine” and most of them continue to talk to her until they or she have to go. OP was never going to get a good answer because Reddit hates children and has no concept of what is and is not normal child behavior.
