You might be thinking of an ad you’ve been seeing that’s been on Reddit a lot lately.

You’re right. The pressure in the body is the same as having that much weight on top of you.

Well you want to keep the free radicals in your body segregated. They’re in contained, specialized organelles within cells, not floating around freely.

[–] President Trump repeats his call for investigation into 'Saturday Night Live' because TV show makes fun of him Cartoonzinho 9 points ago in politics

He’s just trying to make investigations seem trivial and political. That was part of the reasoning behind the Benghazi investigations.

You sound like an awesome doc who did a great job.

I’m sure if a Democrat had sent his unqualified daughter to represent the US you would feel the same way about the right’s response.

They taste the best when they’re harvested fresh.

    I’m absolutely right.

From Wikipedia: “Polydactyly can occur by itself, or more commonly, as one feature of a syndrome of congenital anomalies. When it occurs by itself, it is associated with autosomal dominant mutations in single genes, i.e. it is not a multifactorial trait.

I also went to medical school, but this is something taught in high school biology. I hope they aren’t geneticists.

It’s kind of a spectrum. They can be completely functional. They can also be completely nonfunctional. And everywhere in between.

The frequency of genes exist in what is called Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium. Unless there is a positive or negative selective force on a trait, the frequency of an allele will not change over time. Frequency can change through genetic drift (chance deviations from the predicted outcomes), which is less and less of a factor the bigger a population is. A change of allele frequency in a population is part of evolution.

Gene frequency has nothing to do with dominant or recessive. Separate concepts.

[–] Huge, succulent Argentine shrimp made this shrimp scampi some of the best I've had. [OC] Cartoonzinho 2 points ago in FoodPorn

I remember when most shrimp was still wild l-caught (and expensive) and not farm raised in Vietnam. It tasted so much better. The flavor was much more intense.

Came up in medical school. It’s a good example of a dominant gene with low frequency.

I believe it is just one allele of one gene.

[–] Is 33 medical schools too many to apply to? Cartoonzinho 16 points ago in premed

No not too many. You only want to do this once. Having said that, the schools I ended up interviewing at (and then matriculating) were schools that would’ve been on my list if I had cut my list in half. I think I applied to around 33 as well.

No, he could also have a recessive five finger gene. If he reproduced with a five-fingered female we would predict half the children would have six fingers. If he has two copies of the six-finger gene, we would predict all of his children would have six fingers.
