[–] What's the most disturbing fact you know? DCxMiLK 1 points ago in AskReddit

My god I feel for your mom. As bad as the pain was for me, the only thing worse was a low pressure headache. I've had to get so many lumbar punctures that I have scar tissue over the injection spot that it won't heal quickly now and leaks so they have to do a blood patch over it to clog it.

I had to deal with low pressure headaches for a day or two. I can't imagine having them everyday. It's also weird to move your head and feel your brain move and hit your skull.

Not a dumb question. They can install a shunt but they try to avoid it. There are 3 types of the disease I have. One where the body creates too much CSF, one where the body can't absorb it at all and/or fast enough, and very rarely one where produces to much and can't absorb it. The last one almost always gets a shunt. I have the second one my body sometimes doesn't absorb it at all but mostly absorbs it to slow.

I take Diamox which reduces how much CSF my body creates. The higher the dose the less I create. When my body stops absorbing it, I have to get a spinal tap to drain off the fluid.

The disease can go into remission which I'm currently in and only take a low dose of medication. Because out cam go into remission, they avoid a shunt when they can.

Recreational marijuana goes up for vote this year and it's expected to pass both Senate and house but our governor has promised to veto any bill for medical or recreational marijuana.

Our roads are in need of major repairs, our schools are drastically under funded, and the state is in debt. But he vetos any bill for marijuana or gambling.

[–] What's the most disturbing fact you know? DCxMiLK 1 points ago in AskReddit

Yes it does. That's probably the best explanation I've ever heard for that feeling. I've struggled to describe it for so long but it's exactly like pop rocks.

The last thing I need is to gain more weight. Being over weight is one of the triggers for this disease. I'm 6'3 at 280 pounds so I'm not extremely overweight but I do need to lose weight. They are not sure what triggered it in me because when I got sick I was 220 pounds and in pretty good shape.

However medical marijuana would solve a lot of problems. It would eliminate most of the medication but it's not legal in my state yet.

Its called Acetazolamide. One of the big side effects is Neuropathy and I have to take neurontin to combat that. It effects your cognitive thinking. You feel very lethargic all the time like your mind is in a constant fog. So I take adderall for that. It also effects your taste. Can't drink anything carbonated. It burns the inside of my mouth. Also can't eat anything spicy. It amplifies spicy food. A jalapeno taste more like a ghost pepper.

[–] What was the most shocking moment in a movie for you? DCxMiLK 1 points ago in AskReddit

    I haven't seen that movie.

But seriously, get some food grade diatomaceous earth and spread it everywhere. It kills bedbugs pretty well.

[–] What movie ending is bullshit? DCxMiLK 4 points ago in AskReddit

In the movie he explains that you can never let someone even touch your totem because you can get stuck in a dream that way. You then learn that he is using his wife's totem (the top) instead of his (the wedding ring) therefore his wife may still be alive and because he is using her totem he is probably stuck in a dream.

    Idiopathic intracranial hypertension.

    Edit: a word

[–] What is the most unpleasant medical procedure you have been through? DCxMiLK 2 points ago in AskReddit

I had a botched lumbar puncture that took 45 minutes while I was sitting on the side of the bed while holding my legs to my chest in a fetal position. Basically a 45 minute ab crunch. My abs and legs hurt so bad the next day my wife had to help me go to the bathroom.

I had an anal probing once. It was at a teaching hospital. I had a stomach ulcer and they needed to check if there was internal bleeding. This shy but cute med student had to do it. It was her, 5 of her male classmates, and the doctor in the room. I bend over mortified while she sticks a swab up my arse to test for blood. After she's done I turned and said "and you didn't even buy me dinner first." She turned blood red and ran out of the room while her classmates were almost on the floor laughing.

I loved the end of that movie when you realise that's not his totem. His ring was his totem the top is his wife's. Which means he is probably still stuck in the dream because he is using someone else's totem.

There was so much wrong with that movie. Like how is she going to just appear on that guys security cameras covered in wine like it's blood acting like the guy kidnapped her to serve as a motive for killing him. Like the cops are going to look at his camera footage and see that she has been living there for a while and not as a captive.

[–] [Serious] Americans of reddit, why do you feel you need guns? How would your lives change if they took them away from you? DCxMiLK 1 points ago in AskReddit

I should have phrased that better. You can't go to a gun show and buy a gun from a vendor without the proper paperwork. But the gun show loophole is the fact that anyone can walk into a gun show as a private seller and sell there guns to a private buyer without any paperwork being filled or any background checks. This is the law "any person may sell a firearm to an unlicensed resident of the state where they reside, as long as they do not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms"

This happens a lot more often then you think. Go to a gun show in your area and look around at the people there and not the vendors. A lot of them will have guns for sale. As for the private sellers, there are legal websites devoted to buying and selling guns within your state. None of these sales have to be documented unless they cross state lines.

[–] What was the moment you realized you were rich? DCxMiLK 10 points ago in AskReddit

When I could loan friends and family money and not worry about them paying me back. But this doesn't mean I don't want it back and the first time you tell me "why do I need to pay it back, you don't need it" is the last time I loan you money.

Constant head pain. Not headaches but pain. The pressure constantly builds and presses in on my brain and optic nerves. I have to have lumbar punctures to release the pressure. Best way to describe the pain is it's like having brain freeze all the time.

It also affects my memory. If you've ever seen the movie Memento it's like that but not as severe. I've lost most of my childhood and teen memories and a lot of my early 20's. I also have a hard time creating new memories. Like I'll remember going to a movie but not who I went with. It's also really difficult learning new things. Nothing worse then reading something and you can't remember what you just read.

I take medicine that reduces how much spinal fluid my body creates but I have to take several other medicines to try to counter the side effects of that medicine. The medicine is almost worse then the pain.

[–] [Serious] Americans of reddit, why do you feel you need guns? How would your lives change if they took them away from you? DCxMiLK 0 points ago in AskReddit

As someone with a concealed carry licence, and usually has a gun on me all the time, I'm on the fence about gun laws. I carry a gun because I work at night and I'm often in dark empty parking lots unloading equipment. When most of the bad guys have guns then I want one too.

I also believe we need better gun laws. I see no reason why anyone needs an assault rifle that can take a 30-100 round magazine. Or a sniper rifle that can kill someone from 2 miles away or a rifle that was classified as an anti tank rifle. No reason why a civilian should own a fully automatic gun.

Yes someone can still do a lot of damage with a pistol but it's easier to over power someone who has to reload every 10 rounds instead of every 100.

There is also no reason why someone with severe mental health issues should be able to buy a gun.

There are certain loop holes that need to be closed as well. Like being able to go to a gun show and buy a gun without a background check. Or find a private seller in your state and legally buy a gun with no background check or change of registration. No one should be able to get a gun that easy.

But here is were the problem is with taking guns away. There's too many of them now. To many of the wrong people have them. There's no way now to get everyone to turn in there guns. The government can't afford buy them back and no one is going to just hand over something that is so expensive for free.

I think we need better gun laws and bans on certain guns and atachments but taking away guns at this point isn't really plausible.

Doctors still don't know everything about the human body. For example, I have a rare disease where my body doesn't absorb spinal fluid like it's supposed to. Doctors don't know how or were spinal fluid is created or how it's absorbed into your blood stream. There are theories but, that's it.

[–] May I have 41 karma points please? DCxMiLK 52 points ago in TooAfraidToAsk

If I remember correctly it only counts the first 100 downvotes on a post/comment. So if your comment has say 600k downvotes for a since of pride and accomplishment, then only 100 of those count toward your karma.

[–] Whats the worst decision you've made? DCxMiLK 30 points ago in AskReddit

Not investing in Netflix. I had received a decent amount of money and had a friend who was a stock broker. He begged me to invest the money in Netflix but I had never done anything with the stock market and didn't want to chance the money. Had I listened I would be worth a little over $4 million. Instead I paid off my car and pretty much wasted the rest.

[–] HR workers of Reddit - what's the worst way you've seen an employee screwed over by the company? DCxMiLK 2 points ago * (lasted edited 10 days ago) in AskReddit

Not in HR personally but my partner got screwed over pretty bad. We installed DirecTV satellite dishes in commercial buildings which made it a 2 person job.

Anywho, the company had a policy that if there was a discrepancy on your check then they would make it up in the next check. They had this policy because if the company was short on cash then they would short people's checks and add it on your next check in 2 weeks.

This wasn't a small mom and pop company either. It was one of the largest install companies in the nation.

He comes in to get his check and its only $150 instead of $1,500. They said they forgot to add a 0 when they put it in the computer but they add it to his next check. This happened for 2 months and now he is behind on his child support and house payment.

He got arrested for not paying child support and stayed in jail for a weekend. He came in that Monday afternoon and got into a huge argument with the owner about them owing him about $7,000 in back pay and he told him he would make sure it was on his next check.

He quit that day and ended up suing the company and won. I'm not even sure if the company is still in business. I was fired not long after because I was only 19 and you have to be 21 to work there for insurance reasons. Didn't lie about my age they just missed it on my application.
