[–] Adorable baby chimp eating fruit after getting rescued from poachers Ed98208 1 points ago in aww

The poachers kill the adult chimps, usually for "bushmeat" and then sell the babies as pets. Then the babies grow up and aren't cute and harmless anymore and end up chained and/or caged outside somewhere.

[–] Obama: 'There's a pattern' of Republicans running the economy 'into the ground' and Democrats having to 'come back and clean things up' Ed98208 1 points ago in politics

But what is the foundation for that? The economy was in the shitter from 2007 to 2010 because of the mortgage meltdown which was mainly caused by Bush's deregulation, and then started to recover after Obama enacted new regulations, bailed out the failing banks, etc. and is now going full steam. It was already doing well when Trump became president, and it's gotten better. Would it have gotten better without him? I'm not sure which policies he's enacted that would allow him to take credit for a good economy - they don't turn bad or good overnight. It seems from current economists that he's doing exactly the wrong things (cutting taxes, racking up debt, getting into trade wars) that will eventually blow up and be left in the lap of the next administration.

[–] What Simpsons joke will you never forget? Ed98208 2 points ago in AskReddit

Homer, taking an important test that he has to pass: "Alright, brain. I don't like you and you don't like me. But let's just get through this so I can go back to killing you with beer." Homer's brain: "It's a deal!"

When they're in the sphinx position and their front paws are crossed or one is resting on the other like that, I call it "prissy paws".

China makes a lot of these for the tourist trade, catching whatever little critter they can get their hands on and throwing it in resin. Based on condition, I'd say this is one of those.

That's not true. Charlie was speaker-phoning the Angels in the 1970s.

[–] My old boss is hellbent on getting me fired from my new position Ed98208 1 points ago in legaladvice

I would need to hear your former boss's side of the story, I think. I mean, you said she initially wanted you out so that she could have someone under her that was more compliant, so why would she still be gunning for you to be fired when you don't work in her department anymore?

[–] I’ve been bamboozled Ed98208 2 points ago in mildlyinfuriating

The container size typically correlates to the amount of product, and that's why it's a bamboozle. Most people don't look at the label for volume and they shouldnt have to.

[–] At what point does a house become a mansion? Ed98208 2 points ago in AskReddit

Disagree. Maybe you're thinking of an estate. There are definitely mansions in higher-density areas.
