[–] Poor Performance on POP_OS FlatAds 1 points ago in pop_os

He’s using AMD not Nvidia though.

Besides managing 32 bit stuff is a non issue at least with Steam Flatpak.

[–] Poor Performance on POP_OS FlatAds 1 points ago in pop_os

You shouldn’t need to add PPAs just to play games. Furthermore does installing steam not handle 32 bit stuff by itself?

[–] Poor Performance on POP_OS FlatAds 1 points ago in pop_os

There is no need to "install drivers" usually on Linux. AMD is very well supported within the default Kernel that’s included out of the box on pop os. That driver download you found is not needed for gaming.

Now if you were using some apps like darktable you might need amdgpu-pro but it’s preferable to avoid it as much as possible, the default is there and it should work.

You’re possibly running into issues with those specific games that maybe have something to do with drivers, it’s hard to say. I’d advise to search for people who have similar issues with those specific games, the more details the better.

[–] Streaming over network with PulseAudio hangs often FlatAds 1 points ago in archlinux

You didn’t find the documentation clear enough? Do you have specific questions on what’s missing? It seems clear to me although I don’t use networked audio.

[–] How can I apply the fix for blurry fonts in GTK 4 apps in Fedora 35 when GTK 4.6 is needed and not available? FlatAds 2 points ago in Fedora

Well core gnome apps won’t use gtk4 until gnome 42.

There’s a few flathub apps and others that use gtk4 though.

Don’t know when 4.6 will arrive, probably by gnome 42 though.

[–] Firmware Update Bug? Gnome Software wants to downgrade to an older firmware version FlatAds 1 points ago in Fedora

It’s likely something that fwupdmgr is providing. I’d recommend trying to gather more info about what is going on in fwupdmgr, and then perhaps report a bug to fwupd if something seems incorrect.

[–] How can I apply the fix for blurry fonts in GTK 4 apps in Fedora 35 when GTK 4.6 is needed and not available? FlatAds 2 points ago in Fedora

Pretty much everything that you’d want to know about that bug is discussed there.

So it won’t really be easily fixable until 4.6 is out. When it is out though apps should update relatively quickly.

[–] I can't open Bitwarden dropdown menus when I'm using Firefox (Wayland session) FlatAds 2 points ago in Fedora

If this only happens under Firefox specifically under Wayland then it’s a Firefox bug. Best to report it here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/.

[–] linux discord screen share nothing but black? FlatAds 2 points ago in linux_gaming

The support is pretty mature nowadays, it’ll probably be enabled sooner or later. Agreed it’s not ideal but the pieces are largely in place now.

[–] linux discord screen share nothing but black? FlatAds 2 points ago in linux_gaming

Chrome supports the protocol as well, although it’s not on by default yet.

Discord doesn’t correctly use the support that exists in chrome.

[–] linux discord screen share nothing but black? FlatAds 8 points ago * (lasted edited 18 hours ago) in linux_gaming

If you’re on AMD or Intel then you’ll be using Wayland, and discord’s app doesn’t support screen sharing on wayland yet. You can run discord in your browser (chrome requires pipewire enabled in chrome://flags) or switch to X11.

[–] Fedora 34 (Gnome 40) Laptop Battery Life Horrible? FlatAds 1 points ago in Fedora

Then it’s almost certainly because the package is too old. Luckily Fedora 35 is right around the corner, hopefully releasing on the 26th if everything goes as hoped.

[–] Take this FlatAds 7 points ago in linuxmemes

Most modern distros like Ubuntu handle it automatically out of the box provided you’ve installed the Nvidia driver. Some apps you can right click and force to use the Nvidia driver if needed.

[–] F35 - No more power profile changing feature ? FlatAds 1 points ago in Fedora

Yes masked means something disabled power-profiles-daemon. It is possibly tlp or some other package you’ve installed.

Maybe reboot since you’ve removed tlp.

[–] F35 - No more power profile changing feature ? FlatAds 1 points ago in Fedora

    Do you have power-profiles-daemon installed?

[–] [Arch] we just got KDE Plasma 5.23. Anyone elses Firefox (Flatpak) crashing at random times? FlatAds 1 points ago in kde

Well that does sound like a regression somewhere and something that should be fixed. I’d recommend reporting it to kde since it’s their option you changed. You shouldn’t have to use open gl 2, that’s very old.

[–] Fedora 34 (Gnome 40) Laptop Battery Life Horrible? FlatAds 1 points ago in Fedora

What do you mean by default? If you set it to power saving mode it will remember the state across reboots.

Unless you’re using Ubuntu, which uses an outdated version of power-profiles-daemon that doesn’t remember the power saving mode across reboots, but that should be fixed in 22.04. But fedora should be fine (at least I know 35 is).

[–] [Arch] we just got KDE Plasma 5.23. Anyone elses Firefox (Flatpak) crashing at random times? FlatAds 1 points ago in kde

Nice finding the fix, is it a known issue reported specific to your hardware?

These days firefox either uses hardware WebRender or software WebRender for compositing IIRC, I didn’t know you could change the opengl version there. Or are you referring to another compositor?

[–] [Arch] we just got KDE Plasma 5.23. Anyone elses Firefox (Flatpak) crashing at random times? FlatAds 0 points ago in kde

Things to try: Open it in troubleshoot mode (should be less/no hardware acceleration). Or create a fresh Firefox profile in about:profiles for testing.

[–] Update for Dash to Dock Extension finally adds support for GNOME 40 FlatAds 12 points ago in Fedora

Yes fedora 35 is shipping with gnome 41, as always. The extension might still work though.

[–] Fedora 35 + Nvidia 495 beta driver + Gnome + Wayland FlatAds 2 points ago in Fedora

I don’t have nvidia, I’ve just been following progress for a while.

[–] Fedora 35 + Nvidia 495 beta driver + Gnome + Wayland FlatAds 2 points ago in Fedora

Steam and slack both use chromium under the hood IIRC.

Firefox and most qt applications don’t.

Not sure what is wrong with glxgears. That might be worth reporting to Mesa and/or Nvidia.

[–] Fedora 35 + Nvidia 495 beta driver + Gnome + Wayland FlatAds 1 points ago in Fedora

Does your system work except for those 3 apps?

Chromium based apps are known to have issues on nvidia Wayland.
