[–] Is the knife worth restoring? If anyone has more information about the quality of this knife or can translate the inscription that would be a huge help Hahnsolo11 1 points ago in chefknives

Thanks! I'm at work for the next month or so, so I'll have to make die with what I have here. I have access to emery paper which should work fine for sand paper. But thanks for the advice :D

Ninja edit: I don't have any sharpening stone so I'll have to figure that out later

Thanks! Yeah so the bits near the end aren't as bad as they look. I found this knife in the scrap metal bin at work in the machine shop. So that may be a wire wheel or something from a another attempt.

The blade is really quite dull so I was hoping I would get information about the quality of the steel so I would know if it would keep an edge or if this is just a shitty Japanese Walmart knife.

Either way it seems like it might be fun to get started to at least try and get it operational again, but some serious work is going to have to be done to the edge, especially the tip.

The handle is also in quite rough shape but if I can get the blade looking pretty again maybe I will pull it off and make a replacement.

    Thanks for the information!

Ahh okay. So it doesn't seem to be brand name? Are these Japanese symbols? Maybe I could post the picture in a Japanese friendly subreddit and could get a translation?

[–] Scientists find key to unwanted thoughts. The discovery may help explain why some people can't shift persistent intrusive thoughts - a common symptom of anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and schizophrenia. Talk to you doctor about referring you to a therapist that will be covered by your insurance. I don't think I have OCD, but my therapist was able to help hugely with my anxiety and intrusive thoughts. Any questions feel free to PM me, don't feel like getting super deep into it on this sub.

Edit: I'll just say one more thing, one of the biggest things that helped me was running. Running to the point where you are so out of breath you can't think about anything, let alone intrusive thoughts. Also I noticed that on days that I ran my thoughts wouldn't race and my leg wouldn't nervous shake quite as bad that night. Didn't make it 100% better, but was hugely helpful along with my therapist.
