[–] Woman assaulted while biking on Columbia Slough path HeatherLeeAnn 16 points ago in Portland

Rode on the slough trail last week and am not a bit surprised by this story. I (33F) rode through at around 5:00 pm last week and noticed that there were zero lights so I took a different path back home at dusk. It’s very secluded.

This is just what I needed! I didn’t realize the greenways intersected like that. Thank you!

[–] Some people are so callous about the number of dead! HeatherLeeAnn 64 points ago in MurderedByWords

I had a car accident that caused me to slam my knuckles into the dashboard HARD and it triggered rheumatoid arthritis. The body is fucking weird.

    Critically low on platelets too.

[–] 67th night of protests in Portland draws relatively small crowd of hundreds on Sunday HeatherLeeAnn 6 points ago in Portland

Ah well Reddit is my social media of choice and I haven’t seen them readily posted about on here anymore but I will do some research.

Fine the feds haven’t left completely but they aren’t gassing and beating folks like they were. You can’t deny that there is definitely a different vibe down there now. I hope you aren’t suggesting that we come down there or we don’t make a difference. That’s a good way to push away burgeoning BLM supporters who may not be ready to venture down there. Be open and accepting of where people are in their anti-racism journey.

I mean I get it but it kinda sucks that you only have one option for protesting. Is it the JC or nothing?

[–] 67th night of protests in Portland draws relatively small crowd of hundreds on Sunday HeatherLeeAnn 12 points ago in Portland

Honestly this past weekend I stayed home because I was nervous about the threat of sending in the National guard. Also now that the feds are out I would love to see more neighborhood protests again. I wasn’t the organizer before but I hope those come back. BLM ✊🏻✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

[–] Does anyone know why this person is being beaten by cops? Moments ago, Clackamas 212. HeatherLeeAnn 6 points ago in Portland

This is part of what we’re asking for. The police need specialized training regarding deescalation. The general public, like you and me, don’t really need to know how to do it but learning that set of skills should be an integral part of police training IMO

[–] Does anyone know why this person is being beaten by cops? Moments ago, Clackamas 212. HeatherLeeAnn 28 points ago in Portland

A: plenty of people are shit humans but don’t get beaten for it

B: even if they were “resisting” is beating the shit out of another human the right answer? What about trying deescalation for a change.

[–] Really though, how are single parents supposed to survive the distant learning schedule? HeatherLeeAnn 9 points ago in Portland

I heard on NPR yesterday that some folks are making “pods” of children to be taught by a teacher together. The group is relatively small, as required, so not a lot of exposure. In order to give people without the extra financial support to pay, at least one student per pod will be admitted via scholarship. Apparently you can find stuff like this on working moms Facebook groups.

[–] CNBC article: Oregon, federal government reach deal for withdrawal of agents in Portland HeatherLeeAnn 1 points ago in Portland

I’m betting they “leave” for two weeks max. The feds will take a little vacation then come back swinging when they declare the state unable to “protect federal property”

[–] Maybe it’s time for something....else? HeatherLeeAnn 1 points ago in Portland

You’re right. I guess I’m just hoping against hope that something will give because someone is going to die and probably soon. The feds are sending in their second string and they are going to come out fresh and ready. We, on the other hand, don’t have anyone else coming. We need fresh bodies because we are tiring out too. Once someone dies there is no going back and I’m not ashamed to say I’m scared.

[–] NFL officially cancels 2020 preseason amid coronavirus concerns HeatherLeeAnn 2 points ago in Coronavirus

Could you imagine the backlash if someone got benched because they went to church? There is no way they would do that and risk a chunk of their fan base.

[–] Maybe it’s time for something....else? HeatherLeeAnn 7 points ago in Portland

Of course they defended their actions, they will never take responsibility for bad behavior. Trump has made this a game of optics so I personally think we need to decide what the general public sees. There is no easy or perfect way to see this through.

[–] Maybe it’s time for something....else? HeatherLeeAnn 12 points ago in Portland

And how were the optics for that? Probably not good.

This time it won’t be the police it will be federal officials. Nobody wants to see people in military fatigues gassing children, although I wouldn’t put it past this administration to not give a fuck. The eyes of the world are upon us so I’m hoping whatever happens here it is for the greater good.

[–] Maybe it’s time for something....else? HeatherLeeAnn 10 points ago in Portland

I was talking about sitting in the park in front of the JC. I’m not talking about going somewhere different and I am definitely not referring to join RCJ. Also the feds weren’t here dressed in military fatigues last time we tried something like this.

Same place different tactics. I am not a leader and make no decisions just spitballing.
