[–] 'Indefensible': US Billionaires Became $2.1 Trillion Richer in 19 Months of Pandemic IntnsRed 1 points ago in WayOfTheBern

The Democrats made a lot of noise about taxing the rich around election-time in order to gain votes. Now in power -- not so much. Because Manchin and DINOs we're told. But we all know that since the rich fund both of our ruling parties, if it wasn't Manchin it'd be some other excuse.

Until people start voting for a so-called "third party" to the left of the Democrats (thus forcing them to move to the left to "defend" their left), nothing will change.

"The people can have anything they want. The trouble is, they do not want anything. At least they vote that way on election day." -- Eugene Debs, the socialist presidential candidate who received more than 3% of the vote for president while sitting in a jail cell for opposing WWI.

[–] 'Indefensible': US Billionaires Became $2.1 Trillion Richer in 19 Months of Pandemic | New analysis shows that just 745 individuals have combined $5 trillion in wealth—most of which will never be taxed—as nations reels from pain inflicted by Covid-19. [–] ‘He lied’: Iraqis blame Colin Powell for role in invasion on Iraq | Powell’s 2003 UN testimony was key in events Iraqis say led to heavy costs for them – which can still be felt today. (xp from r/WorldPolitics2 for those tiring of NSFW photoshopped pics and wanting some actual world politics) IntnsRed 1 points ago in worldpolitics

Powell was too much of a politician to complain publicly. But his long-time aide and chief of staff, Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, gave an interview where he told how disgusted Powell was about that UN speech. Powell knew he was repeating unfounded lies -- and the spineless, dishonorable war criminal went in front of the cameras and lied.

And a million Iraqis paid for the torturing war criminal George Bush and Powell's lies with their lives.

"We do not possess any nuclear or biological or chemical weapons." -- Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz to CBS News' Dan Rather, August 2002. The US gov't would later lie claiming Iraq had such weapons and invade the country.

Modern day capitalism: When people are so misinformed and propagandized the gov't has to pay them to protect their own health.

Future generations will look at us in jaw-dropping awe.

[–] China and Japan Show Signs of a Closer Relationship IntnsRed 4 points ago in worldpolitics2

Is it any wonder why Japan wants to get closer to China?

China is now Japan’s largest trading partner.

The Japanese are occupied by the US but the Japanese are not idiots. They have to see the US is in a stark decline in many aspects -- economically, militarily, diplomatically and our fraying political stability and social cohesion.
