[–] in Hindsight was Hillary Clinton the right choice to go against Donald Trump in 2016? If not who should have been the choice? Lord_Galahad 0 points ago in AskALiberal

Because I like moderates. Jeb is a moderate for the Republican Party, and Hillary is a moderate for the Democratic Party.

Therefore, I obviously don't consider her "the worst choice".

I'm not actually sure we have any formal rules, to be perfectly honest.

    Sevex?

[–] Why is there such a disparity in the crowd that likes Bernie Sanders and the crowd that likes Alexandria ocasio Cortez? Youre not currently blocked. You were, but between wanting to respond to some stuff you said and you becoming a mod, you're not anymore.

You claimed to have blocked me after I became a mod, actually.

I don't think it's particularly extreme to believe that you use the term "SJW" in a way that is inconsistent with reality.

Or maybe you're so far in your echo chamber you dont see it.

Of course it's me. It must be me. It couldn't possibly be you.

As an ex conservative i see it plain as day, and to my formerly conservative sensibilities, i find it obnoxious, divisive, and is literally the worst way to make your case on social issues because it's unnecessarily combative and does nothing to solve the problem. If anything it makes it worse because it makes the right more galvanized against you. Hence why i make the analogy it's kicking the bee hive. Doesnt make the bees go away. Just makes them agitated and willing to attack you.

You're the sort who would have been against the black protests for civil rights then - got it.

Well maybe you and the "blocked brigade" on this sub

According to you, I'm a member of the "blocked brigade". <chuckle>

shouldn't make up crazy conspiracy theories about me.

Jon, you do sound like a Republican from time to time when you use terms in that way.

yes yes, i know people have some crazy conspiracy theory im some deep russian/republican operative to sow discord.

I don't believe you are. I'm simply pointing out that when you use terms like that, you provide reasonable ammunition for that sort of thing, because you DO sound like a Republican when you do that.

    They're idiots, that's why they're blocked!

    I don't believe that's why they're blocked at all, no. I certainly don't believe I'm an idiot.

Because it's the only sub with stuck up snobby center left economic folks who are also extreme on social issues that i regularly visit.

I don't think it's particularly extreme to believe that you use the term "SJW" in a way that is inconsistent with reality.

This sub needs to learn that people gasp actually disagree with them, and they're not bad people for doing so.

Are you kidding me? I actually joke all the time here about the idea that "we don't get along or agree about anything".

And many of us do dislike SJWs.

SJWs of the sort that you're referring to are like Antifa...there's like maybe a thousand total of them in the entire nation.

Really, it's a "this sub" problem as far as im concerned, not a me problem.

Of course it is! Self-awareness has never been a strong suit for you.

people want candidates and people who debate on ideas, and not talk down to them for daring think differently.

Jon, you do this ALL THE TIME. Heck, I would say you're within the "top five" in this subreddit for doing exactly that.

So please, cut out the concern trolling. The passive aggressive messages about how to debate, being "concerned" about my reputation.....im not buying it.

Of course you're not. Because you couldn't possibly be doing anything wrong, I know. <rolling eyes>

Give me one good reason how any leftist can logically defend a religion to the death that oppresses women, gays, free speech, freedom of religion, and advocates violence whenever you leave the religion.

Christians don't ALWAYS advocate violence whenever you leave the religion though.

Im gonna be brutally honest, i dont give a crap what you think about me.

I was never under any delusion about that. <chuckle>

That doesn't mean you shouldn't take some notice when someone you "don't give a crap what they think" tries to point out why you might harm your own reputation, so that perhaps you could take it into consideration.

[–] Which Game of Thrones character is the closest to embodying your political beliefs? Lord_Galahad 5 points ago in AskALiberal

I enjoyed the show a great deal, but there were actually very few characters that I actually...liked. I mean, they were all pretty much bastards.

I mean, I loved Tyrion Lannister, but mostly because he was a really funny smartass asshole...but still an asshole.

I can't see where I would really agree with anyone in that setting politically, at least off the top of my head.

Granted, I think I only watched the first 3 or 4 seasons, so perhaps something happened after that which might sway me. I made it up to Jamie finally gaining my respect and Tyrion joining the Khaleesi but I don't think much after that, as they still didn't really trust one another so much.

Wasn't that whole thing spawned from people saying they would primary her?

No, it wasn't, but it also wasn't a direct quote from her. Taking a quote from this article:

    https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/16/justice-democrats-primary-challenges-alexandria-ocasio-cortez-1106911

"Since her swearing-in this month, Ocasio-Cortez and her staff have tried to create distance between the 29-year-old congresswoman and Justice Democrats, claiming to not be involved in the group’s plans to mount primaries against incumbent Democrats it deems too moderate. But Wednesday’s video, featuring Ocasio-Cortez and her two senior aides discussing those very plans over coffee with Justice Democrats Executive Director Alexandra Rojas, is far from the neutral position she’s espoused."

As far as I've seen she appears to just slap down assholes, something that I really appreciate. She doesn't suffer fools.

Sure, I don't mind that either. I like the fight she's shown.

[–] Jumping from one school to another in the middle of the year...any advice? Lord_Galahad 2 points ago in Teachers

For me, regarding #2, it would really depend on how the administration has treated you - that would be the full brunt of how I would approach that particular issue.

[–] What happens to the First Responders Bowl trophy? Lord_Galahad 5 points ago in CFB

They received a response saying that that wasn’t really how FOIA requests work, but that they were curious, so they went ahead and weighed it anyways.

    That is great.

[–] [Vent] I know teaching is for me but my admin is absolutely the worst. Lord_Galahad 9 points ago in Teachers

Our principal sent out an email yesterday saying he expects no more teachers to take days off.

Seems like a breach of contract to me.

[–] What do you wish people on the right wing/ conservatives understood about your ideology? Lord_Galahad 1 points ago in AskALiberal

You claimed our bodies aren't designed to not have sex.

I said nothing that could even be reasonably concluded to have implied such a thing to anyone with even a basic understanding of human biology.

How am I suppose to interpret such a remark?

A good start would be applying actual reading comprehension skills and a knowledge of human biology.

[–] In your opinion, who are the best and worst liberal political commentators? Lord_Galahad 20 points ago in AskALiberal

The immediate "worst" that come to mind for me (and I realize that not everyone may consider them "commentators") are:

    Bill Maher

    Samantha Bee

I find both to be pretty...awful to have to listen to.

[–] Do you think students who take humanities subjects are just as important and should be given the same amount of opportunities and support that stem and creative arts students get? Lord_Galahad 6 points ago in AskALiberal

Almost all of them. Sure, the process is how they get to the results, but the results are the focus. Again, I didn't suggest that the process was unimportant, merely that it wasn't the focus.

The focus of architecture is to develop a building that meets whatever criteria have been set for it, for example. Those criteria are the focus, the end-game.
